Comp isnt really doing anything
i had a memory stick problem, just got the pc working 2 days ago, with 1 256mb stick, the other wont work, yesterday i started it up, but it wont do anything,i hear strange beeps, and a strange click, the second led is green and that reffers to a memory problem, what can i do now? i cant enter the bios, the monitor wont even start up.

Net-auto-wireless isn't really doing anything
I've got netcfg installed and I'm trying to use it for my wifi configuration on my laptop which has an ath9k wireless chip.
I've got my profiles (WPA personal) setup just fine, when I do netcfg my.profile.name it brings it up and it works. However if my wireless drops for whatever reason, or I come to work, I always have to manually do "netcfg profile".
In my rc.conf I have nothing in INTERFACES (only have wlan0 on this machine), I have WIRELESS_INTERFACE defined as wlan0, I have two profiles in NETWORKS, and I have "syslog-ng hal net-auto-wireless netfs crond" in my DAEMONS list.
Can anyone see anything that I'm doing wrong? How does net-auto-wireless actually work?Okay I can't get it to automatically connect neither to wired no wireless network.
ifplugd at least is trying to connect to networks, I can see in /var/log/everything that but wpa_actiond simply sits there silently and does nothing.
When run manually, either via rc.d/net-auto-wireless or directly, it connects to a wireless access point immediately. No problem here.
So, basically I had gone through the following scenario today. Went to work office, plugged in ethernet cable, ifplugd tried to connect to any of the networks specified in the profiles but failed to for whatever reason. No meaningful explanation. All it said was this:

So, I had to do netcfg -u $PROFILE to set up network connection manually. Then I went back home, where I use wireless ap to connect to the home LAN, I saw ifplugd detect that ethernet had been down so it properly unconfigured eth0, again /var/log/everything clearly stated that

but nothing was happening for wireless interface at all. This was registered in the log when I got bored with netcfg/wpa_actiond not doing my job for me so I ran /etc/rc.d/net-auto-wireless restart which configured wireless network connection:

I think my configuration is correct but well I could've missed something of course. So, to save us time:
- all profiles are in /etc/network.d/. one of these looks like this:

So far the problem is that ifplugd can't connect to a wired network, but at least it attempts to, while wpa_actiond does nothing at all.
I really want my laptop to do this automatically. It's like... you know... 2011 already! Computers must do this stuff xD -
I updated my iphone4 to the 7.0.4 update. on my phone screen it says connect to itunes. when i connect to itunes my phone isnt doing anything. what do i do? i cannot use my phone!!!

IiPad is stuck in the iTunes connect screen. I have held the home button down while plugging the iPad in and still nothing. Hard reset isn't even doing anything. It's not even showing up under my computer. Please Help

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

GTX 780 Ti - CUDA selected, but GPU isn't doing anything
I know there's a bunch of posts on the 780 Ti, but I've been researching for days and I'm getting nowhere.
Disclaimer: First let me just quickly say this. I know it's not officially supported and I understand why, so please don't mention that. I'm a long time PC enthusiast and builder and I've worked in technical IT positions for 15 years. I understand liability implications of testing hardware and officially supporting something, and also the implications of using unsupported configurations (like PP maybe randomly crashing, etc). Now, with that said:
The Issue: In PP CC 2014, CUDA is available and it is selected. In fact I never had to select it. It has always been automatically selected when creating new projects. However, my cards aren't doing anything. They're idle 100% of the time.
I've read posts from users and from Adobe stating that unsupported CUDA capable cards will still work as long as the user accepts a message stating that the card isn't supported. However, I don't ever recall getting a message saying anything about my cards being unsupported. I only know about said message because it's been mentioned by Adobe and other users. I'll admit that I may have, in fact, been prompted and clicked accept, or continue, or whatever, but I'm pretty sure I would remember that. I also wouldn't have been surprised to see the 780 Ti missing from the supported cards list, which I only went looking for after learning that it wasn't using my cards.
I've messed with PP settings, NVIDIA settings, uninstalled/reinstalled drivers, older drivers, beta drivers, uninstall/reinstall PP CC 2014. I read something about deleting the CUDA file so I tried that but I think that's not supposed to be necessary anymore(?)... I'm losing my mind here.
1. I've read that exporting media "only uses the CPU and not the GPU" and I've also read "CUDA GPU acceleration will significantly reduce export times". What's the official answer on this?
2. During sped up playback and reverse playback (normal playback is fine), the CPU is pegged and the GPUs are idle. Shouldn't at least this use the GPUs?
3. I've read that not all effects will or can use CUDA. For example when applying the warp stabilizer to clips, the CPU is pegged and the GPUs are idle. Does that not use CUDA? That seems like a pretty common effect that should be able to use GPUs.
I would really appreciate an official answer as to whether the 780 Ti will work or not - completely ignoring whether it's officially supported. If the answer is "yes, it will (should) work, but something is wrong with your particular setup/configuration" I'm ok with that, but I'm hoping there's a suggestion I haven't found yet, that might help get my cards working.

four years old, and the only two updates aren't dated and they're vague.

down several rabbit holes of links starting on that page, which end on
broken links or non-CUDA-related content.
With all that said, that page does specifically mention cropping, scaling,
and exporting as GPU accelerated. In my example, I'm using the warp
stabilizer set to smooth motion - position, scale, rotation, and I'm not
using any crazy export settings, just defaults with 2-pass selected instead
of 1-pass for example. -

I run an iMac. Today for some reason when I run the cursor across the screen applications and files are highlighted and then opened without me doing anything (no clicking etc) In fact print at times opens. As far as I can tell I have not changed any settings except to open firewall.
I run MacKeeper and when I run a scan only a few cleaning items open. Safe and fast are as they should be. I run fix. If I again run the scan I get a few more but different claeing items to fix.
I have rung MacKeeper several times without getting through. The occasion I did get through the bloke said he could not help and passed me to a higher authority. Needless to say the line dropped out after 30 minutes waiting.
As it is the weekend and I do not live near an Apple store I am quite keen to get the problem identified and fixed so I can continue working.

"MacKeeper" has only one useful feature: it deletes itself.
Note: These instructions apply to the version of the product that I downloaded and tested in early 2012. I can't be sure that they apply to other versions.
IMPORTANT: "MacKeeper" has what the developer calls an “encryption” feature. In my tests, I didn't try to verify what this feature really does. If you used it to “encrypt” any of your files, “decrypt” them before you uninstall, or (preferably) restore the files from backups made before they were “encrypted.” As the developer is not trustworthy, you should assume that the "decrypted" files are corrupt unless proven otherwise.
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Applications
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A. The "MacKeeper" application is in the folder that opens. Quit it if it's running, then drag it to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your login password. Click the Uninstall MacKeeper button in the dialog that appears. All the functional components of the software will be deleted. Reboot.
☞ Quit MacKeeper before dragging it to the Trash.
☞ Don't empty the Trash. Let MacKeeper delete itself.
☞ Don't try to drag the MacKeeper Dock icon to the Trash. -

Google doesn't pick the name up, are you sure you didn't make a typo? If you're really interested, you could try to find the add-on's files in your profile (see [[Profiles]], then "extensions" folder, then the folder with install.rdf file inside containing the name you see in the add-ons window) and check its source or post it somewhere and try to get someone to look at it. -
My iTunes was working fine, all my CDs would import fully and quickly. Now they are importing slowly and when the CDs get to the last track they don't import and the CD drive just keeps spinning without doing anything! How can I fix this?
I don't want to have to restart or reinstall my iTunes again as I'll have to redo all my playlists etcLikely that CD then. Check visually for damage, blemishes, etc., not that there's anything you can really do about those other than return the CD.
The drive sits there and spins because it is trying to re-read the CD. iTunes has error correction which is contributing to all this re-reading, I believe, and you may be able to disable that in preferences if you aren't picky about the result.
You can also try other rippers such as Max or XLD. I know those have configurable error correction. I like XLD but it is slightly tricky to use until you find that for some reason the author has put all settings under preferences, not just the set once and forget ones. -
my iphone 5 keeps crashing all the time and has a delay of about 3 seconds when doing anything on it i did a factory restore on it but it didnt fix the problem i went to optus to see if they could help me as my phone is through them but they knew nothing i need help please my phone is only 8 months old
Plug the device into a wall outlet and leave it for about 20 minutes. If it has not powered on at that point try a reset by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for about 15 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.

My voice control keeps coming up without me even doing anything

My ipod's voice control keeps coming up without me even doing anything and when I cancel it/it cancels itself, my music library starts to play. I have an app to listen to video songs on and it keeps on stopping because of this problem. My Ipod works at a very slow speed now as well, it takes ages to type and it doesnt move very fast either. I NEED A SOLUTION FOR THIS PLEASE!!

Reset (Hold both buttons till the iPod restarts - no data will be deleted) and restore it (all data will be deleted - full restore!)

I tried to burn a DVD using iDVD after upgrading to Maverick, first time I tried after upgrading to Maverick a few weeks ago. It seems to get stuck at encoding menu stage and not doing anything. Does anyone else have the same problem?
I did not have a DVD handy to burn but I have just created a small 2 minute video and created a Disk Image and also a VIDEO_TS folder, the encoding worked correctly, so it works with some items.

hello, i have updated my iphone 5 black 16 gb to ios 7.0.2 (11a501) and my battery life of my iphone has become worse it gives 9 hours of usage with out doing anything, i have done everything every tip that is available online i had 3gs and 4s so i know how to save battry life,i even tried not using my iphone as well but still no change at all!. i have upadted to ios 7.0.3 then downgraded it , i thought battery may be an issue ,so i put brand new battery still no change , so what should i do ? , update to the latest version which is ios 7.0.4 or wait for the ios 7.1 , i was using iphone 4s running on ios 6.1 it gave me 3 days of battery timing , iphone 5 seemed to be very bad for me ,help ! ?

Take a look at apps using your location service in privacy, it can cause battery draining. -
Only one of my earbuds on my bose headphones works with my ipad, iphone and macbook- if I hold them there the right earbud will work, but for the life of me, I can't get them to both work. Why is this? And is Apple doing anything about this? While Apple's headphones have (finally) admittedly gotten better of late, I still prefer the much more comfortable headphones & sound quality that Bose makes and that I spent the money for.

iPhone 5. Prior to the iPhone 5, I could listen to podcasts one after the other without doing anything. Now it will only play one podcast at a time, then I have to click on the next one. Not a great feature when driving. TIA, Sarah

Group and order your podcasts to a playlist. Then play them from the playlist. -
My MBP after the Lion upgrade takes 1 minute to put something usable on screen and without doing anything else the HD is active for another minute.
I have visited the Genius bar where they went through some maintenance routines and permissions repaired etc but the boot up time remains the same.
I have cleared the cache as suggested in other threads but is this the best I can expect as with SL the computer booted up in about 30 seconds ?
I recall reading there may be unwanted programs loading at boot up time but I do not know where to look in the system to check.Thanks for the reply, I have followed your suggestion but unfortunately it has not improved the boot time, do you have any further advice you could offer me ?
I use my MBP for working on and storing my photographic images following my Photoshop adjustments, these individual image files are between 50 to 60Mb, I was reading about OSX self defragmenting files below 20Mb, these files are not intended as start up items but do you think storing approx 200Gb of these files could be having so effect ? I am a fromt end user so my limited knowledge is restricted to repairing permissions etc. I am probably clutching at straws but it be better to store these images on an external HD in addition to my backups on other HD's.
