Comp not seeing ipod

when i connect my ipod and computer the ipod charges but i can't update it. The computer isn't seeing the iPod or something. It worked 10 minutes ago, i just ripped another cd and put it on, then went to update and now it won't see the ipod. i tried turning off the ipod and the computer but nothing's helped.

Funny, I am having the same trouble. My iPod mini was updating fine yesterday and now iTunes doesn't even show that it's connected.
I tried disconnecting all other FireWire devices as well as plugging the iPod directly into the computer instead of going through the hub as I usually do. Both had no effect. What's going on??
** EDIT **
OK, I just restarted my iMac and now iTunes recognizes the iPod mini again with no problem. I would suggest all who are having this problem to simply restart the machine. Good luck!

Any ideas on why I can't use iTunes with my touchi?  Has anyone hadluck with non apple softyware, seems apple has made a mess of itunes on this version.  I've been throught multiple threads on reinstalling and with tweaks.  I've read the apple device is faulty in this latest version, any news on when this fault will be fixed?  Love to hear from an Apple person on this.  Samsung is looking more and more attractive.

  • ITunes not seeing iPod

My iPod will not mount on the desktop or in iTunes. When connected to my iMac it shows the 'Do Not Disconnect' message, but nothing else happens. I have tried to reset the iPod but the same thing happens. I don't think I can Restore it if I can not see it in iTunes.

I am having the same problem. My ipod is not showing on in finder or in itunes. I am not getting the "do not disconnect" message either. I tried the trouble shooting but there is nothing I can do if my Mac is not recognizing my ipod. My itunes is up to date and the os is up to date. I don't know what the problem is. I am currently in Germany and can't call tech support. I will be here until 20 June but don't want to be without my ipod that long. Is there anyone out there who can help me?!!!

  • ITunes does not see iPod after last updates

It seems that many people have this same problem, but I do not see any solutions. I recently updated my iTunes to the latest version and did the iPod updaters. Since this, my computer at home and work no longer recognizes my iPod. I keep getting something asking me to restore my iPod, but i have a bunch of pictures on it that I do not have saved anywhere else. Doing a restore will erease everything on my iPod.
    please help.

    Well, that was annoying.
I just went through the same grief being reported by many other users here: I updated my iTunes on Windows XP, and it stopped recognizing my iPod. (Plugging in the iPod would actually kick off iTunes, but after coming up, iTunes refused to see the iPod.)
It's working again, and it did seem to be related to network drives. However, I wasn't very disciplined about trying a single step, seeing if it worked, then proceeding to the next step, so I can't guarantee which specific step(s) below that actually solved the problem.
    But for what it's worth:
    1. I recently (a day or two before updating iTunes) mounted a new network drive, assigned to drive "G:". My iPod has been "F:" since I first installed it.
    2. When iTunes stopped seeing my iPod after updating, I tried resetting the iPod's drive assignment to "H:".
(Unfortunately, I also tried everything else, including restoring the iPod to factory settings...it's now updating something like 1500 tracks.)
    3. Resetting the iPod's drive letter as suggested in another thread didn't seem to do anything by itself, however I ALSO UNMAPPED THE NEWER DRIVE ASSIGNMENT DESCRIBED IN STEP 1.
    4. Now here's the other stuff I did before trying it again, which may or may not have contributed to the fix:
    - I undocked (it's a laptop)
    - I moved the USB cable from the docking station
to one of the laptop ports
    - I rebooted
After doing this, I plugged in the iPod, and ALLELUIA BROTHERS AND SISTERS, it was RECOGNIZED ONCE MORE!
    Give me an AMEN.
Hope this helps somebody else to get going.

  • ITunes not seeing iPod Shuffel songs

    Hi All
I bought a 2nd gen Shuffel for my girlfriend the other day but ran into plenty of issues.
Firstly, it did not want to be picked up on her PC (W2k with SP4). It kept saying "iPod is corrupted".
Then, I plugged it in my laptop (XP Pro). Restored and updated with latest iPod software. Also copied some music from a CD. Everything was working until the next time I plug it back into my laptop again. iTunes does not see any previously installed music on the ipod.
If I plug it back to my girlfriend's PC (Win2K), once again it say "iPod is corrupted"
    Any input on this please???

I have used iTunes and iPods for several years. I
always use automatic updating. Previously, any
change to a song rating I made on my iPod would be
reflected in my iTunes library after a sync. Since
my most recent iTunes update (7.1.1), I have two
problems. (1) iTunes does not update the ratings
changes made on my iPod and (2) podcasts which I
listen to on my iPod are not marked as "not new" in
iTunes. It appears that Apple has screwed up
something in the sync process in the newest iTunes
version. Is anyone else having this problem?
Having exactly the same problem as your first issue. In the playlist of top-rated tunes they all appear. However my iTunes library has 460 relevant tunes, whereas the same playlist on the iPod has 100 fewer. They are greyed out and can't be changed and aren't played.
    Any ideas?
    TIA Dermot

  • IPOD/comp not seeing old library.

Hello, I have an issue with my ipod. Recently, two new computers were brought into the house when the one that originally had iTunes died. Hooking the Ipod up the the new computers, I expected to be able to access the old library, but for some reason, the newer versions of iTunes that came on these machines is not recognizing the old music as music files. It also will not sync to add any new music to the iPod. I have the 'Manually Manage music' option checked in iTunes, but have been afraid to uncheck it (something about music that was added w/out being purchased from iTunes.) because when I go to uncheck it, it says that my old library will be wiped out and replaced with the few new songs that are now on my iTunes. I do not want my library stored on the iPod of 831 songs to be replaced by the few new ones. Is there anything I can do to get the new iTunes to read the old songs? Are they a lost cause that I need to redownload and add to the iPod all over again? Please help!

  • Windows does not see IPod

For some reason my son's computer doesn't see his IPod Nano anymore. Where do I find the windows driver for the Nano?

When the ipod is connected to the computer, make sure the ipod shows "Do Not Disconnect" on the screen and the circle slash is blinking.

  • MacBook/iTunes not 'seeing' iPod

I haven't updated my iPod for a while, certainly not since the last couple of iTunes updates. However, today I opened iTunes, connected my iPod nano and it is not being seen by my MacBook.
I've tried closing and reopening iTunes whilst keeping the iPod connected and I rebooted the MacBook with the iPod connected. It still doesn't see it.
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Hello,

  • Itunes not seeing Ipod and songs not playing Ipod

I have a couple of issues just wanted to know if anyone has run into. I have a couple of computer one running Vista, the other XP, neither see the ipod in itunes, both see it in Windows. That is the first problem. I have also tried all of the suggestions in the troubleshooting section of this support website, except re-installing the operating system. The other issue is that the ipod does not play the music that is currently stored on it, it acts like it is going to and then stops the screen turns black and the apple logo appears, any ideas?

    Hello betel23,
Have you tried resetting the nano yet? To do this, toggle the hold switch on and off, then press and hold the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together until the Apple logo appears. I would try these more than once just in case.
Otherwise, try forcing the iPod into *Disk Mode* using the instructions in this Apple support document. It may help your iPod mount as an external drive on your system as well as get it to appear in iTunes.

  • Computer does not see ipod, no charge

My computer doesn't see or charge my ipod nano. It is only a few months old and this is the third time I have plugged it into the USB port to charge. The backlight came on when I plugged it in, but I didn't pay attention to what it said. When I came home from work, the screen was dark with the apple logo in the background. I reset it and the screen went dark. I changed USB ports to all available ports to no avail. The USB ports on the computer are good since they are running other devices. The power is not able to be lowered automatically by the computer. I have tried all of the "R's" given by the support center again to no avail. The computer does not recognize the ipod and no power seems to be given it at all. I am at a complete loss as to what to do. If anyone has a brilliant fix for this I will be ever so grateful. Thank you for your time!

    try reinstalling the ipod software
