Compact and Repair Anomaly in Microsoft Access 2003 - dupicate key repair

Can anyone explain the anomaly below where “Compact and Repair” is less functional on System A?
 System A:       Microsoft
 Access 2003 v11.8321.8403 SP3 on Windows XP SP3
 System B:        Microsoft
 Access 2003 v11.8166.8172 SP3 on Windows 7 Home Premium
“System A” is the operational system.
The application is a back end–front end pair of Access .mdb files.
Sequence 1:
The user on System A gets a unique key error(*) when attempting to enter a new row in a particular form, though there appears to be no key clash.
The back end file undergoes “Compact and Repair”.
Compact and Repair has modified the file which has halved in size (10MB down to 5MB)
The unique key error still occurs.
N.B.: I also tried preceding the “Compact and Repair” by opening the back end with "/decompile".
Sequence 2:
Original front end–back end pair copied to System B
The user on System B gets a unique key error(*) when attempting to enter new row.
The back end file on System B undergoes “Compact and Repair”.
The user on System B is now able to enter the row
The back end file is copied back to System A
The user on System A is now able to enter new rows
Inference: The Compact and Repair on System B was effective and on System A was not.
(*) The dialogue box error reads:
The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship.

  • Microsoft Access 2003 - Import xls issue

I'm having an issue with oracle SQL developer which exports an xls file then I proceed to import that xls in Microsoft Access 2003. I got a following error message related to the headings.
"The first row contains some data that can't be used for valid Access field names. In these cases, the wizard will automatically assign field names."
If I proceed with this issue in Access, it'll bring up an error message about importing the xls in Access.
I have a solution by removing the trailing column via Excel application then import the xls. I wonder any one have any better wayaround this issue?
I have the latest version and it has 2 patches.
    Thanks in advance.

I forgot to mention the last column has some trailing spaces in the first row.

  • Remote Desktop - Pinch and Zoom compatibility with Microsoft Access

Hi guys, not sure which forum to place this into but here we go.
We use Windows 8.1 tablets and RDP to a 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Server, we can pinch and zoom with Office 2007 Excel, Word without issues.
I would like to know if there is a list of programs that's compatible with pinch and zoom because it looks to me like Microsoft Access (2007 version) isn't compatible with pinch and zoom but I need proof for my IT manager.
Can you tell me if I should be able to pinch and zoom a database windows within MS Access?

    Hi,
As per my research there is no such description whether which program compatible with pinch and zoom but still as this seems more relate to tablet question. You can ask your comment over there for more perfect answering.

  • Access 2003 compatible with php or sql?

I'm beginner lvl, and trying to connect an access 2003 database table to a website.
I'm hoping it will be able to submit, and upload from this table. I'm looking into sql and php.
I was just hoping for some foresight from the more experienced that have dealt with this outdated version of access.
    Maybe i just need to get a newer version, but first;
    Q1
-----using the wizard to create a page, and running it in ie 11 (it doesn't like chrome) it doesn't run correctly.. the options for switching between data and creating new inserts aren't compatible with ie 11.
??? is there another way without the wizard to configure an html with access 2003?
    Q2
-----I'll be looking for a config with sql and php, i don't know how long either of these has been around.
??Are they a good idea for attempting this?
I'm interested in ideas that involve using code in notepad documents and access 2003
I'm not really interested in using third party enviroments for my developing and configurations.
    Thanks in advance

Access was never designed to be a database behind a web front-end. The number of concurrent calls could overwhelm it. There are also far fewer samples and support available than using SQL Server database. So look into the free Express Edition of
SQL Server. We're now at version 2014. No need to use 10-year old tech for a new site.
The web pages could be programmed using asp.net if using MSFT tech, or PHP if you want to do it the hard way  :-)
Choose one camp, and stick with it. This is to say: either use the LAMP stack, or MSFT. You *can* mix and match, but not as a rookie.

  • Can I use Web Services with Microsoft Access?

I'm somewhat handy with Microsoft Access (2003 in particular), but not an expert. Macros? No problem. VBA? I'd be hard pressed to code anything from scratch, but I'm not too bad with modifying code/examples to fit my particular scenario. So, if anything about this doesn't ring quite right, now you'll know why. Some years ago I worked with another guy to develop a module that used REST(?) to query some web services at Yahoo!. If that worked, I was hoping that I could do similar things with CRMOD I was thinking, for example, I might want to get the Opportunity Sales Stage for a number of records. And since there are tools for Excel and Word, I thought Access might work, too. As a starting point, I imagine I need to use the Web Services Toolkit for Office 2003. But frankly, I don't even know where to go beyond that.
Am I wasting my time? Any suggestions for an intro to web services?

    Probably not through USB.
But likely if its anytihng like the Microsoft Sync in my Ford Explorer you can play audio from it through Bluetooth.
You can read here for compatibilites, and features.

I connect My iPad to the Sync media center with no issues and can play my musci from the iPad thorugh the car stereo speakers.

  • Access 2003 - Repeated "You cant make changes to the database" error

    Hey all,
Im having a very strange problem with Microsoft Access 2003, we work with old databases and when we open them up through Access 2003 we get the message "you cant make changes to the database objects" error, which is expected. However the laptop has started to repeat this message over and over about 8 times after the first time you click on it. Its very annoying to have to keep clicking to get rid of the error message. Its a very strange problem, any ideas on how to solve this or even to explain what might of happened will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
P.S. It is not an option to update the database, we work with a program that uses an old 97 database and if you update the database the program will stop working.

    Hi
Firstly it doesnt seem that this is a Toshiba notebook fault.
This sounds more like a Microsoft issue.
I would recommend checking the Microsoft knowledge base articles or/and contact the Microsoft support.
I have investigated a little bit and found these pages. Maybe you will find useful infos.

  • Microsoft Access Database can't be accessed at times

Just wondering if anyone else is having troubles with running a Microsoft Access 2003 running on OES 11 SP1?
Not sure what is causing it but everyone once and a while our database is only accessible to one person at a time. We can run weeks at time without issues. Once I restore back from backup its fine.
Probably not a Novell issues but thought I would check. We also are running Windows XP and Windows 7 machines.

Log in as the root user, then open the /etc/opt/novell/ncpserv.conf configuration file in a text editor.
If the OPLOCK_SUPPORT_LEVEL parameter is not listed, add a line for the OPLOCK_SUPPORT_LEVEL option, set it like this:
    OPLOCK_SUPPORT_LEVEL 0
    Ive also added: CROSS_PROTOCOL_LOCKS 1
The above is not effective immediately I'm not sure what services need to be restarted, or reboot server!
That will sort out oplocks on your NSS volumes. Then you still need to set the properties of the Novell Client not to do client side caching.
Let us know how it goes so that we can all learn.
    Cheers,
So far so good. Thanks for all the help.

  • How do I obtain 'Save As PDF' option in MS Access 2003?

Ever since I installed the Adobe CS2 Premium Suite (containing a full copy of Acrobat) on my PC a long time ago, the main menu of Microsoft Access 2003 has contained an item that would let me save an Access report as a PDF. I have since upgraded to Adobe CS4 Design Premium (which includes Acrobat Pro V9).
Recently, that menu item in Access has disappeared for some unknown reason and a reinstall of Acrobat Pro V9 made no difference. Does anyone know how I can reinstate the 'Save As PDF' option in Access 2003?
    David

I have now found a fix for my problem. After learning that the missing facility was called PDFMaker, I was able to get more useful results from a Google search. This led me to the following Adobe Archived Technote, entitled 'PDFMaker is unavailable in a Microsoft Office application'.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/330/330984.html
This Technote provides a string of 14 possible solutions, none of which worked until I got to Solution 6: 'Add the COM add-in file to the Windows registry'. This was done by running the following command in the Win XP Start/Run box.
    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\PDFMaker\Office\PDFMOfficeAddin.dll"
With hindsight, this problem was almost certainly caused by me letting a Microsoft technician have remote access to my PC a few weeks ago in what proved to be a vain attempt to fix a Microsoft Update error relating to Office. This technician spent 40 mins making many changes to the Registry...

  • Microsoft Access

I am using Crystal Reports 10 for Sage.  I created an Access Database using Microsoft Access 2003.  I am using Sage PFW.  The report works well when running it from Crystal Reports, but when I run the report through Sage PFW, the database is deleted after I close the report.  Any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening?

    Hello everyone,
I'm taking a database systems class at school and the class uses Microsoft Access to complete the assignments. I realize that Access isnt available for the Mac, but are there any other programs you guys can recommend that would be similar in appearance and functionality to Access? • How to compact and repair a MS Access database with NI CVI 8.5 (and SQL Toolkit)

    Hello
I'm using the SQL Toolkit with CVI 8.5 for accessing MS Access Databases.
Is there a possibility to compact and repair the .mdb file with  CVI?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Ulrich,
with compact and repair I mean the MSAccess function "Compact and Repair".
Please follow the link below for more details:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/access-help/compact-and-repair-an-access-file-HP005187449.aspx
Normally you can execute this function directly in Access or with the Windows ODBC Data Sources Administrator  => "Control Panel" => "Administrative Tools" => "Data Sources (ODBC)"...
I want to execute this function via cvi code and not by hand ;-).
    Thank you for your support.

  • Compact and Repair Encrpyted Database Problem

I have an MS Access 2007 accdb file that I no problems with when it is not encrypted.  I can compact and repair with no problems.  However, when I encrypt the database and try to compact and repair the file, I get 'invalid argument'. The
file is 101 MB, I'm not at the 2 GB limit by far.  Any suspicions?   This file was recently imported into 2007 from 2003 (accdb from mdb). I have had the users testing it extensively.  I worked through the all of the compile errors that
the previous auther left.  The problems comes once I encrypt the file again and again.

  • Microsoft Outlook 2003 Inbox Repair

    Hi,
My hard Drive had became errors and partition became corruptted, after that I recovered some data with Microsoft Outlook 2003 Emailz backup or it is on approx 1GB but I am not able to import in new hard drive and new installed Microsoft Outlook 2003, I tried to take help from websites they suggested me to run scanpst.exe tool I run that tool after that I am able to import my pst file in Outlook 2003 but not able to see any message in inbox or any other directory of Outlook 2003 during importing my emailz backup kindly give me solution how can I import my emailz properly and they will show properly in inbox and other folders

Inbox repair tool (scanpst.exe) repairs minor level of corruptions, but I think your PST got highly corrupted and you need a strong Outlook PST repair tool like QuickData Outlook PST Recovery to perform the recovery task. Once the PST file
gets repair you will be able to import it in a new window.
