Compact flash- iPod transfer?

Is there a device that will let me transfer photos from my camera's memory card (Canon 350, compact flash) to my iPod "in the field"? Purpose built hard disks for this have a slot to insert the memory card. Is there some sort of adapter so I can use my pod for this?

Belkin Digital Camera Link for iPod may work depending on your iPod model.

  • Compact flash ipod mini 1st gen

I have a 1st gen ipod mini and bought a 32gb compact flash card to replace my broken 4gb hard drive. When I try to connect to itunes to re install the firmware on the compact flash card, itunes will not recognize. I get a little folder with ! mark next to it then when i connect it, it just says do not disconnect. Any help would be awesome thank you!

    Robert,
Besides the scrolling feature built into the click-wheel, there is a microswitch button for each function.  In other words, Menu, Forwards, Backwards, Play/Pause and Center Button each have their own switch that’s activated when you press that part of the wheel.
It’s possible that the switch for the Forward function has failed.  Does that button work in ANY menu area.  Do the other buttons work?  If you’re in the middle of an album, can you go backwards in the list of songs?
I was just working on the click-wheel on one of my Mini a couple of days ago.  I bought a used one and the prev other had some kind of decal over the scroll and the adhesive virtually glued the center button to the rest of the wheel.
Hopefully, it’s just the Mini’s click-wheels are they’re available on eBay for about $10 and can be user-replaced, if you’re VERY careful.
I also have an old 1st gen Mini that could be a parts donor and could do this for you.  I could also replace the harddrive with a 32gb Compact Flash card and new battery  while the Mini is opened, if your interested.  I’ve done a BUNCH of those and they work great.  I'm even selling one of them on eBay now.

  • Any card reader to transfer Compact Flash Raw photos to Ipod 5G

Hi I have a Canon 10D digital camera and have a 2Gig Compact Flash Card, I would like to know if there's any compact flash card reader for Ipod video (5th Gen Ipods) so I can use it as a Hard Drive and transfer my RAW photos to the Ipod.
Any suggestion o this or tips on this kind of card reader for Ipod.

    Hi vchavez,
I've got a Nikon D70, use it with camera connector and the Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 15-in-1 Media Card Reader/Writer (model no. F5U249ea) google it!
Works fine, there was a website with a list of compatible card readers, but it seem to have took the article away, the belkin above was the one on the list, thats why i got it!
    Happy Shooting.

  • Use compact flash cards to transfer drivers?

Once I install Win XP I figure I could setup my internet and get all the drivers I need. Out of curiosity, if I can't configure my internet properly for whatever reason, could I tranfser files on a compact flash card? I have a 512 MB CF card for my Canon S1 and this PC and the Neo2 I'm setting up has a floppy card reader. I could put all the drivers I need on the CF card and transfer them over? Apparantly XP doesn't need a driver to use the CF card reader. I also have an external USB card reader I could try instead. Just wondering if that would work.

Shouldn't be a problem if you have the card reader.

  • Compact Flash Adap

Hi everybody, new to this forum so excuse me if I cover a topic already covered. I've done a search but nothing relevant and up to date comes up.
Ive got a Zen Vision great machine, it does everything I wanted and more BUT; I bought a compact flash adaptor from Jessops so I could transfer pictures from my Fuji cameras xd flash card to my Zen. When I try to transfer anything it says "compact flash is not formatted with a supported filesystem"
Please can somebody help as this is something I really need. How do I format the adaptor!!!
    Many thanks

    GaryY,
The player support file system formatted in FAT6 or FAT32. Perhaps that's why the problem lies if your CF card is in another type of file system.

  • Can I use 60 MB/s Compact Flash cards in my EOS 40D?

Can I use 60 MB/s Compact Flash cards in my EOS 40D?  I have been using 30 MB/s cards for several years and would like to get faster speed if the $)D will accept the faster cards

It will accept them but it may not transfer any faster. That's limited to the buss used back then which was most likely the fastest it could be in it's day.

  • Sandisk Compact Flash problem

I have an older Canon Digital Elph S250 digital camera that uses compact flash media. The CF card can be read fine through a card reader on my desktop Windows XP computer. But when I try to read the card on my Mac using a CF USB reader, it tells me that the drive cannot be read by a Mac. The file system used appears to be FAT 16, which is an older DOS file system. Any ideas about this? Do more modern cameras with a different kind of flash card use a different file system that can be read on a Mac? I would like to be able to read the cards on either of my computers. I want to load the pictures on the desktop since I have automated backup there, but I sure prefer to use my Mac to look at and manipulate the photos. But I don't want to have to transfer from one computer to the other every time over my wireless network.

It shouldn't be, since I'm using a very high-quality power supply, an Antec TruePower 330.  I also can't imagine a USB card reader to use enough power to cause problems.  It really doesn't use any juice anyway until you put a memory card in it.
Also, if I plug it in after Windows has loaded it will recognize it right away every time.  I think if I plug it in while Windows is booting it will freeze the boot process until I unplug it again.
    Here are my system specs:
    MSI KT4 Ultra v1.0 (MS 6590) w/ v1.3 BIOS
    Athlon XP 1600+
    1 stick 512MB PC2700 (DDR333) Micron/Crucial memory

I purchased the ipad 4/retina diplay 64 GB model today and i need a compact flash card reader that works with it.
has anyone had any luck with this??
    thank you.

I found this with a simple Google Search:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Camera-Card-Reader-Connection-iPad/dp/B005NN8V3M
But Diovonex is correct, use the standard Camera Connection kit and transfer them from the camera directly as described in this other thread.

  • Compact Flash conversion Lifedrive

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and apologise if this is the incorrect format.
I love my Palm but I have a problem
I have an issue on converting my Lifedrive to Compact Flash.card to prolong its life.
I have followed the how to on Wiki I used an Apple Mac, purchased Copycatx and a 4 gb SanDisk Extreme III which is on the compatibility list of known cards that work...
I used Copycatx to duplicate the Lifedrives Micro drive as per instruction,
this I saved to my desktop.
I then put the CF card in the card reader but it won’t transfer the image as the volume of the CF card at 3.74 GB is too small for the image at 3.81 GB.
    What am I doing wrong?
I have duplicated the Lifedrives micro drive several times and the image volume is always the same at 3.81 GB.
I tried the card straight out the box and later formatted it on FAT32
    No Joy!
Could someone point me in the right direction please?
    Regards to All
    Ted

The SanDisk Extreme III is too small to place the image on. The way memory works is even though you have a 4GB card it is actually a little smaller due to how the data is stored.  Outside of that unfortunately we do not support modifying the devices on this forum. I would suggest that you look at the Wiki that you got this information from and see if they have a forum of there own and see if they can help you.

  • Compact Flash Format

I'd like to be able to transfer files between my Powerbook and a PC using a Compact Flash Card. Is it possible to format it so that it is read/write capable on both platforms? I'm using a SanDisk Ultra 200x variety.
    Thanks.

Format it on the PC. If FAT32 doesn't work with OS 9, you may have to use FAT16.

  • Compact Flash Reader Needed

    Hello.
I'd really like to get a compact flash reader for my 30GB iPod video, but the only one made appears to be the Belkin one -- and everyone says it's SUPER S-L-O-W. That won't work for me because I shoot RAW and each of my files is 12MB. I have at least 2GB each time I need to offload the card.
So does a speedy solution exist for current 5G iPods?
    Cheers,
    ALF

If its a direct camera link that you wnat for storing data from your digital camera you can look at this:
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?productLearnMore=M98 61G/A
If this doesnt help in what your needing then i am sure belkin is the only one if youve done a full search on it.

I am going to Africa on holiday v soon. To save on bulk I want to be able to transfer my RAW picture files from the compact flash card onto my iPad 2. • Tech Question re: Addonics IDE Compact Flash Adapter

I have a 15" 867mhz ti-PB. I'm thinking about swapping the hard drive for an Addonics 2.5" IDE adapter that uses compact flash cards. They make an adapter that has room for two cards--a master and a slave. Will the disk controller used in my ti-Powerbook recognize both a master and slave IDE hard drive from the single IDE connecter?

Good advice. I sent an email inquiry to Addonics.
The dual card version is $22, only $2 more than the single card version. I don't have any doubt that a single compact flash card will work in the master slot, so it doesn't make any sense not to buy the dual card version.
If don't get a definitive answer from Addonics (likely), I'll probably purchase either a 16GB or 32GB card for the master slot and the lowest price card (perhaps 128MB) I can find to try in the slave slot. I'm not totally sold on the long-term reliability (# of writes) of solid state media used as boot drives, so it would be nice to have a build-in backup.
To go beyond a 133x speed card right now is very expensive, so I'll probably buy a 133x card, with about a 20MB/s transfer rate. That's not as fast as the hard drive I'll be replacing, but I'm interested in this for energy savings and shock protection. I don't get anywhere near 20MB/s write performance with my current hard drive, so it will be interesting to compare the card in terms of real world use.
I'll report back with a reply to this thread when I know something.
