Company wide Custom Outlook Events - Exchaneg 2010 sp3

Is there a way to create a company wide related recurring event/holiday in Outlook at the exchange level which shows up in all the employees Outlook???? rather then manually doing it on each user mentiond here
http://office.microsoft.com/en-ca/outlook-help/add-or-delete-holidays-and-custom-events-in-your-calendar-HP001230406.aspx
thanks in adv.

Hi,
Based on my knowledge, I'm afraid there is no related commands to help us to add holiday on user's calendar from Exchange side.
However, as a workaround, we can export this calendar to a PST file and then import to the mailboxes. You can refer to the following article.
Holiday Calendar and How Import to Mailboxes
http://blogs.technet.com/b/manjubn/archive/2012/01/14/holiday-calendar-and-how-import-to-mailboxes.aspx
I hope it helps.

  • Exchange 2010 SP3 upgrade - Event ID 4999 - Address Book Crash

    0
I just upgraded an Exchange 2010 SP1 CAS server to SP3 - since then anytime an outlook client connects to the CAS server, the Address Book service crash's and event 4999 is logged in App log.  I can reproduce the issue by attempting to create a new
outlook profile and checking the name against the CAS server.  This crash's the service and the client recieves an error message.  The contents of event ID 4999 is below.  I've tried re-installing the CAS role, re-applying the schema extension
for SP3.  I've installed all windows updates, enabled logging but I'm not getting anywhere.  If anyone can help with this issue, I would greatly appreicate it.
    Watson report about to be sent for process id: 10168, with parameters: E12, c-RTL-AMD64, 14.03.0123.004, M.E.AddressBook.Service, M.Exchange.Rpc, M.E.R.R.RfriRpcOperationBase.Complete, System.ArgumentException, a3e, 14.03.0123.002.
    ErrorReportingEnabled: True
That error is followed by a message that the Address Book service has sucessfully started

    Hello,
For exchange 2010 sp3, there is no article to explain the issue.
I suggest you run EXBPA aganist your exchange server health check.

  • ICloud 2.0 PC & Outlook Custom Recurring Events Problem

I write this post after a couple weeks and many hours of trying to fully sync my calendar in Outlook 2010 with iCloud. I'm using a Windows 7 PC and the latest iCloud 2.0 control panel. I have encountered multiple issues and quirks.
For example, I discovered that when merging an existing Outlook primary calendar that contains recurring events to the Cloud, major problems occur. The control panel "time remaining" for Outloook Setup steadily increases past 30 minutes and the progress bar stalls. It then abruptly stops after about 10 minutes, reporting that Outlook is successfully setup. But only a portion of my 2600 events have been copied to the Cloud. Other times, the control panel simply crashes, citing a CalDav error.
I then changed my strategy by merging an Outlook calendar containing only single occurring events. That works fine. Then I recreated the recurring events on icloud.com and they synced with Outlook fine...with the notable exception of custom recurring events.
I've been able to work through all the bugs until this one.You can easily illustrate this for yourself by isolating the flaw. Create a new calendar in the Cloud so that it appears in Outlook (or vice versa). Then create just a single custom recurring event in the Cloud, like MLK's birthday. This example recurs every third Monday in January of each year.
However, when this event syncs to Outlook, it does not carry over the custom pattern. It instead recurs on the same day each year. In my example, this was January 21 because that happened to be the date of MLK's birthday in 2008, the year that I tried creating it in. So Outlook showed MLK's birthday occurring on a Saturday (January 21) in 2012.
If you instead create the same event in Outlook (i.e. third Monday of each January), it syncs to the Cloud with the proper custom recurring pattern. That's great, except if you every need to "Sign Out" in your iCloud control panel and sign back in, the custom recurring pattern will not be maintained when the Cloud events are transferred back into Outlook.
I believe this singular flaw is behind a LOT of people's problems. I've read through countless posts of people becoming frustrated with the inability to correctly sync iCloud and Outlook. Very often, people are specific about recurring events being involved. But most everyone doesn't know WHY they're having problems.
Like many of you, I have spent many hours experimenting and diagnosing. I have been unable to resolve this fundamental problem, which will always prevent me from being able to rely on iCloud for my calendar needs. Recurring events, including those with custom patterns, are essential.
Anyone have insight or a fix to this?

Thanks mcauble, in fact it's woks. I spent 2 hours and 80.-€ withe the Microsoft helpdesk concerning my outgoing message on Outlook that are blocked when the icloud add-in is installed.
Back to the iCloud control panel 1.1 solved the problem.
    Window 7, MS Office 2010
    Thanks to you!
(And none congratulation to the Apple developper that are no tested the 2.0 version before! )

  • Outlook 2013 Category view not updating after Exchange 2010 SP3 RU3

After updating to Exchange 2010 SP3 RU3 last night, users who use categories view in Outlook 2013 are complaining that the view does not update. The alert is received in the notification area and the unread message count next to Inbox updates appropriately.
The view can be force updated by switching between All and Unread, by using Reset View, or closing and opening Outlook.  It seems anything that forces a 'redraw' of the view will update it - except for the actual reception of email.  I easily replicated
    this issue.  For reference:
    Exchange 2010 SP3 RU3
    Windows 7 x64 Ent
    Outlook 2013 (15.0.4551.1004) 32-bit
I do see that SP3 RU4 has been released, however the only change listed is a security patch.
    Thank you for any ideas.

    Hi, Everyone –
This has been a known issue for a very long time – we have people at our workplace that are very disappointed since a feature as great as categorizing email (not using tasks) has become broken and has not even been considered to be fixed for
over half a year.  It was not fixed in the updates for Patch Tuesday this week.
I would like to confirm that this is an issue with Outlook 2010 and 2013 when running the latest Exchange 2010 and there is NO FIX
    – I have scoured the internet for a solution – all proposed "textbook" solutions do not work and I am positive that the issue can be recreated; however, everyone from Microsoft does not mention trying to recreate the issue at all.
The workaround of creating a rule to send new emails to a category could break other pre-existing rules and cause more frustration and wasted time for users/IT before and after the issue is fixed.
Please fix this issue sooner than later, as the Categories view is completely broken and unusable at this point in time.

    Hi Henry,
Even we can’t see /OWA virtual directory in IIS manager, still doesn’t mean it not exists. The IIS configuration files are located in ApplicationHost.config. This file is located in %windir%\system32\inetsrv\config.
Found the below entry even with no owa vdir in IIS manager, remove the entries below and try upgrade again. (Note: Before you modify ApplicationHost.config, please take a backup first.)
    <application path="/owa" applicationPool="MSExchangeOWAAppPool">
    <virtualDirectory path="/" physicalPath="C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\owa" />
    </application>
If the issue still occurs, please do not hesitate to post back.

  • Sync end date of custom recurring events? - Outlook to iPod touch calendar

I've been having a particular problem with my "nonstandard" recurring appointments in Outlook that give rise to a custom recurring definition in the iPod touch I just got (software 2.1.1) when I sync with iTunes (8.0.0.35) on Windows XP by USB - I can't seem to get the end date (when there is one) to be sent to the iPod! So, for example, if I have a standard once a week event over the summer, it ends properly based on the end date, but if I have say an event every Monday and Thursday over the summer, the iPod has a "custom" recurring event definition created, but no space and no evidence of the end date, and the events keep getting shown after the Outlook defined end date (continuing after summer in this example).
I tried something called CompanionLink to see if I could get a more thorough sync, but it seems to rely on the iTunes sync. I had become used to Pocket Informant on my old Pocket PC (until the Pocket PC was just crashing too often to be functional, thus the recent purchase of an iPod touch - which even if the calendar won't sync completely has allowed me to move enough programs off the Pocket PC to have it trimmed down and working better again!). I hear the people that make Pocket Informant are working on an iPhone / iPod touch version.
In the meantime, any suggestions about the lack of end date syncing for custom recurring events, other than waiting for an Apple update (how, by the way, can i make a request to Apple? - it wasn't too clear to me on this website).
    Thanks!

  • Exchange 2010 SP3 outlook prompot password for linked mailbox

    Hi All,
I have forest A and forest B, there is an Exchange 2010 SP3 server in forest A, linked mailboxes are created for user inside forest B. Trust relationship can be verified , in place and active. Suddenly , some linked mailbox user got outlook password prompt
repeatedly but OWA and Active Sync is still working fine.
I have reset Exchange Web Services Virtual Directory. but the issue still persists. Please advise
    Regards,
    Zaw
    ZAW

Step 1: Close Outlook program and create backup of PST file
Step 2: Now run SCANPST.EXE on copy of your PST and repair
SCANPST.EXE is found in these locations according to different Outlook versions:
    In MS Outlook 2002/XP: C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MAPI\ \scanpst.exe
    In MS Outlook 2000:C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MAPI\ \NT\scanpst.exe
    In MS Outlook 97/98:C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows Messaging\scanpst.exe
Note: Do not use backup option in SCANPST.EXE as you working with a duplicate copy of PST
    file.
Step 3: Then open the command prompt by clicking Start >> Run
Step 4: Paste or type the file path to PST19UP and your PST name: PSTUPG19.EXE-filename.pst
    and press Enter.
Step 5: The command line will resemble: “C:\My Documents\pst19upg.exe”- Outlook.pst.
Step 6: A new copy of the PST file will be created, which is called “filename.psx”.
Step 7: Once you have completed, rename the original PST file.
Step 8: Now at the Command Prompt, type “pst19upg.exe- filename.psx” and press Enter
Step 9: A new password-free PST file will be created from PSX file.
Step 10: Now open your MS Outlook program and open the PST file.

  • Exchange 2010 SP3 RU 5 - Event id 4999

We have Exchange 2010 SP3 RU5 with four CAS/HT and five mailbox servers. We get tons of event 4999 on the four CAS/HT during the last weeks:
Watson report about to be sent for process id: 6456, with parameters: E12, c-RTL-AMD64, 14.03.0178.000, AirSync, MSExchange ActiveSync, Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.GlobalObjectId.IsForeignUid, UnexpectedCondition:NullReferenceException, 54b1, 14.03.0178.000.
    ErrorReportingEnabled: False
We have 10000+ mailboxes and no problem with activesync has been reported. I increased diagnostic logging of activesync to "expert" without getting more details about this. I have also restarted all four CAS/HT servers but event 4999 is
    still there.
    Any ideas?

Thanks for your reply Willard Martin
This event is also from MSExchange Common and the process id 6456 referred to in the event text is w3wp.exe.
I also checked both your links but they are not similar to my problem. The first of your links is about  "System.IndexOutOfRangeException" and doesn't seem to have anything to do with ActiveSync. The second is about ActiveSync but with another kind
    of error: "UnexpectedCondition:ArgumentNullException".
    My error text is "UnexpectedCondition:NullReferenceException"

  • Does Outlook "Connection Status" Show Rollup Updates on Exchange 2010 SP3

    Hi all,
I've looked for this answer everywhere, and can't seem to find it. When you CTRL right-click on the Outlook taskbar icon, and select "Connection Status", one of the pieces of information displayed is the Version number of the connected Exchange
    server.
Does this build number include installed rollup updates, or does it show only the installed Service Pack. For example, if it's an Exchange 2010 SP3 server with RU6 installed, will I see 14.3.195.1
or just 14.3.123.4 (the SP3 build number)? I'm trying to use this information to troubleshoot
client issues, and it'd be helpful to quickly see if certain updates are installed on the Exchange server or not.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Just as what mentioned above, connection status displays the Exchange version number.
Start Outlook and connect to the Exchange server if this isn’t done automatically already.
Hold CTRL while clicking on the Outlook icon in the Notification Area
(located in the right bottom area near the time; expand the Notification Area first if the Outlook icon does not show).
From the context menu that pops-up choose: Connection Status…
Scroll the horizontal scrollbar to the right to see the Version column.
(if the dialog is empty, then you are not connected to Exchange)
Here you’ll see a version number.

The frequency of these errors varies and it definitely seems to be related to the amount of traffic. Over the weekend it only occured about 5-10 times a day.  For the past couple of days, it's been pretty constant about every 15 minutes or
    so all day.
I've looked this up, but I've only found a few posts mentioning similar errors, all relating to earlier versions of Exchange 2010. Supposedly this problem was fixed in one of the rollups to SP1 or SP2, I think.  I never saw these errors, though,
until the SP3 RU4 rollup.  I haven't heard any complaints from users, but I'm concerned that this might escalate and start causing noticeable searching issues.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Deb

    Hi Deb,
We're getting the same error as you on Exchange 2010. We have exchange 2010 and exchange 2013 running in a coexisting environment. Since we applied Service Pack 1 for Exchange 2013, we've had nothing but issues!
I've tried the rebuild of the index catalogues by following these instructions:
    http://ghousewin.blogspot.in/2012/08/not-able-to-search-in-owa-event-id-9877.html
This failed to resolve the issues too. We've rebooted the server, restarted all the search services and still nothing! We're pulling our hair out here!
The only thing I haven't tried is the prepareAD commands in this post:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/7a4a7400-a582-4f95-9360-6d84e66e87ad/ex2010-2node-dag-search-in-owa-not-working-caused-by-eventid-9877-content-indexing-function
I'm unable to try this during the day as we have no testing
environment and would hate to mess the production environment up if this went wrong.
If you're able to try this during the day, would you let us know how it goes?
    Many thanks,
    Stephen

  • Removed Exchange 2010 SP3 Rollup 8; some clients still having Outlook issues

We have removed Exchange 2010 SP3 Rollup 8 and rebooted the Exchange servers; but some Outlook clients are still experiencing the issues where calendar appointments can't be saved. They get "the item cannot be saved to this folder. The folder was deleted
or moved or you do not have permission." Then "the operation failed". Everyone has created new Outlook profiles. This fixes some computers; but not all. This is happening on Windows 7 with Office 2010 and Windows 8.1 with Office 2010.
    Does anyone have a fix?
    Thanks!
    Mary Cato

    Hi Mary,
Is there the same issue when using OWA ?
If OWA is ok, except recreate outlook profile, I also recommend you try moving mailboxes to another database and check if any helps.

  • Outlook 2010 and Exchange 2010 SP3

    Hello,
we are planning to upgrade from Exchange 2010 sp1 to SP3, most of client PCs has Windows XP sp3 and Oultook 2010 with VSTO addins working with mapi properties.
I need to know if there are any known issues between this client environment and Exchange 2010 SP3 ??
    thanks a lot,
    Mauricio.
    Mauricio

Windows XP is not supported in any scenario, so yes, I'd call that a known issue.

  • Event ID: 4999 - MSExchange Common - Exchange 2010 SP3

    Hi all,
I have Exchange 2010 SP3 RU4 and since yesterday without reason (I didn´t patch anything, configure etc.) following error randomly appears in app eventlog:
Watson report about to be sent for process id: 6000, with parameters: E12, c-RTL-AMD64, 14.03.0151.000, AirSync, MSExchange ActiveSync, Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.GlobalObjectId.IsForeignUid, UnexpectedCondition:NullReferenceException, 54b1,
    14.03.0151.000.
    ErrorReportingEnabled: True
I´ve tried to find some info but no luck.
Does anybody know how to fix this?
    Thanks in advance, O.

    Resolved..
A few days ago I hid some testing resource mailboxes (rooms) in GAL, which were used in Cisco TMSXE (Videoconferencing SW). Then, when I restarted the IIS, these errors appeared, because of Cisco TMSXE couldn´t find the room mailboxes. So I unhide
    them and errors are gone..

  • Exchange 2010 SP3 Rollup 8 and Rollup 7

    Hi
    I have a customer with a Small Business Server 2010 with Exchange 2010 SP3.
The Customer installed updates on the server 10/12/2014 where Rollup 8 for Exchange was included.
After that the Customer has a lot of problems with connection from Outlook to Exchange and they phoned us.
We have looked on the problem and found a Microsoft article about rollup 8 where they said DO NOT INSTALL
We ran Windows Update again on the 13/12/2014 where Rollup 7 was installed
The customers still has problems with connection from Outlook.
    One of the errors:

The issue typically occurs if send messages to a large number of recipients.
When this issue occurred, did you check if send message successfully via OWA?

We have looked on the problem and found a Microsoft article about rollup 8 where they said DO NOT INSTALL
    Did you mean this article:
    Exchange releases: December 2014?
    à
We ran Windows Update again on the 13/12/2014 where Rollup 7 was installed
From the Event ID 4999, I noticed that point to
14.03.0224.001, it should mean the old Exchange Server 2010 SP3 Update Rollup 8. From above
mentioned article (Exchange releases: December 2014),
Exchange Server 2010 SP3 Update Rollup 8 has been re-released to the Microsoft download center resolving a regression discovered in the initial release. The update RU8 package
corrects the issue which impacted users connecting to Exchange from Outlook. The updated RU8 package is version number 14.03.0224.002. Just a confirmation, did you
reinstall that re-released Exchange Server 2010 SP3 Update Rollup 8? Any difference?
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Justin Gu
