And dissconnected the Internal speaker. When i click it now, i get and error from the Troublshooter and the speakers aren't working. I would like some help please, Thanks in advance.

  • Ports on Compaq CQ61 laptop.

Recently I plugged a device with the normal USB plug into a socket (port) on my machine. Routine enough, but this time a message came up telling me that 'The dongle will perform faster if it is plugged into a hi-speed port.' Checking the info appears to tell me about ports (apparently 6) on my machine. To my knowledge there are just three. What am I missing here?
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    I am using a Compaq CQ61 laptop, model 416SA, Windows 7.

    Hey aitch372,
It seems to me that your USB port is telling it that it's something different than a 2.0 port, which it is.
This document should give you a better look at why this is happening.
    http://goo.gl/WnkPY
Try this fix first, Run it and whatever issues you have within the USB ports this fix should correct the problem.
    http://goo.gl/NgZoS
Also, can you let me know where and when do you see this message on your notebook?
Also, where do you see the 6 ports being listed? If it's the device manager you will see more than there actually is because that usually is the way windows works.
Now if you want to disable that error message you can go to Start menu> right click computer> manage> device manager> expand Universal serial buscontrollers"USB ports"> then starting with the first port that should say something like "standard enhanced PCI to USB host controller>double click the name>go to the advanced tab>deselect "tell me if my device can perform faster" error message.
You will need to do this with ever port which in your case shouldn't be that much.
Please let me know if any of this helped, Thanks.

  • My compaq CQ61 doesn't start!

When I switch my Compaq CQ61 on, the fan begins working but the screen remains off.
The only thing that happens is that the "Bloq Mayus" and "Bloq Num" LEDs flash indefinitely...
Anybody knows which could be the problem?
    thanks in advance

    The model is CQ61 - 325 ES
So maybe is something about the motherboard... in that case, which options do I have?
In anyway, I'm gonna try to do the hard reset you told me about.

  • Compaq CQ61-310sa CPU Compatibility

    Hi,
I have a Compaq CQ61-310SA which I need to check a different processor in for diagnostic purposes. It currently has AMD Mobile Sempron SMM100SB012GQ in.
Does anyone know where I can find a compatibility list please.

You can refer to the link mentioned below for the complete manual and also the tested and compatible upgradable parts for this unit.
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01868653
Use the part surfer and enter your product number and look for the list of tested parts and that would be easy.

  • Have a compaq cq61 319wm, blinking blue lights

i have a compaq cq61-319wm. when i press the power botton there is no boot or post. just blinking blue lights at the caps lock and the number lock. i have switched the ram around and even used other ram. any is appreciated.

I think you have to begin to think of this in terms of a hardware issue. If it reads CDs but not DVDs, then it is not a driver thing but a bad laser. There is a separate laser for CD and DVD functions and one can easily go bad, requiring replacement of the drive.

  • Pavillion G series & Compaq CQ61

Hi, really hope someone can help me this!
I have a HP Pavillion G series laptop - I have just broken the screen (badly!).
My dad has a HP Compaq Presario CQ61 which he no longer uses due to it getting a virus which was unfixable.
Is it possible to transfer the hard drive from the Pavillion to the Presario?
If it's not possible to physically transfer the drive is there any easy way to copy the data from the Pavillion to the Presario (Obviously the Presario would have to be wiped first as it still contains the virus).
Also, if the data can be transfered would everything (including operating system etc.) be moved to the CQ61?
I'm not overly technical (which is prob obvious!)
Any help would really be appreciated

    Hi philm2014,
It would be easier to provide more specific answers to your questions if we knew which specific model PC's you were talking about.  If you don't know the specfic model PC's that you have, check out Finding Your HP Product Model Number to see how to find out what the models actually are.
"Is it possible to transfer the hard drive from the Pavillion to the Presario?"
Well, like many questions in life, the answer is maybe.  It is likely that you would be able to physically install the Hard Drive (HD) from the Pavilion into the Presario (though I can't say for sure since I don't know which specific models you are using).  However, the Operating System (OS) installed on the Pavilion HD is licensed and tied to the Pavilion PC, and will probably start to complain about being installed in the Presario relatively soon, assuming it even boots up (there will almost certainly be driver incompatibilities and other issues).
What I would probably recommend is to first do a full recovery of the Presario, that should take care of the virus and get the computer ready to use, just like it was when it came from the factory.  See Using System Recovery, Factory Reset and Minimized Image Recovery Options for instructions on performing a recovery.  To get access to the data on the Pavilion HD, I would remove it and install it in an external USB HD enclosure (you should be able to pick one up for $20-$30), then you can plug that drive into a USB port on the Presario to get access to any data on the Pavilion HD.
    Good Luck!

Unable to log onto laptop.  Screen is black, caps lock light flashes and numbers lock light flashes.  At one point this week I was able to logon to desktop using ctrl + F 11...now that does not work anymore, it has also logged into bios using F10...but now nothing works....I just want to be able to get logged on so that I can get my programs backed up, before having to send laptop in for repair (whatever that might be) I had this problem with this laptop in Aug 2012..sent in for repair, it lasted until Dec 2012..had same problem then as today.

  • Compaq CQ61 Wireless Card Upgrade

I have a Compaq Presario CQ61-416SA, running 64bit Windows 7. The current wireless card only works on 2.4Ghz band and I want to upgrade it to a dual-band one to get better speed etc at 5Ghz. I have a replacement Intel Centrino N6230 card, but the laptop will not accept anything other than the default card. On startup it halts with an error message saying that it will not continue unless the 'unauthorised device' is removed. If I re-install the original wireless card, it starts up and works fine, but that's not the point, I want to upgrade it.
I assume that the default is to lock down part of the BIOS  in the laptop to prevent unauthorised tampering with in-warranty laptops, but mine is well outside the warranty.
I know the card works because I installed it in my previous laptop and I've been in electronics for around 30 years and have spent some 5 years of that repairing laptops, desktops, servers, etc so I'm pretty sure I'm capable of plugging a card in and installing the driver!
Does anyone out there know a way around the block? Without it I'm not going to be able to upgrade the laptop.
    Anyone?
    This question was solved.

Don't completely blame HP, but it is kind of a 1984 thing involving your Federal Government. HP and Lenovo read some Federal Communication Comm regs on registering wireless radios (including laptop wifi cards) to require that alternate cards be blocked. Other laptop makers did not agree and now the "whitelist" is history but there is no effort to go back and do new BIOS for older units.
HP versions of the wireless card have some specific identification in the firmware which the HP whitelist looks for before clearing the card for use so you have to use the HP version. I looked pretty hard for an HP version of the card and the one I linked is all I could find. Google around and you may do better.

  • Compaq CQ61-411WM BIOS Corruption

My mother owns a Compaq Presario CQ61-411WM. When I attempt to start the machine the fan starts, the power and wifi buttons light up, the screen does not display anything, and the lights for the num-lock key and the caps-lock key blink in sets of 2 simultaneously. -- I have searched this problem and found that this indicates that a BIOS corruption is to blame. I have removed the CMOS battery in an attempt to reset the BIOS, to no avail. I have reseated the ram (but not the processor as i do not know how to disassemble the notebook that far), to no avail.
I then looked into the option of flashing the BIOS using the [Windows] + [B] +[PWR] method of recovering the BIOS. The computer just resets upon release of the keys. I have looked into this and found that this is due to the lack of the  "HP_TOOLS" partition being present. I found that a solution to this is to create a flash drive formatted to FAT or FAT32, named "HP_TOOLS", and copy the required files for a UEFI flash. Then insert the USB and attempt to recover the BIOS. I tried a couple different files and the computer just resets when i release the keys. I believe that my problem is that i simply do not have the files for the exact computer. I also believe that it might be due to an incorrect file system configuration.
If anyone can advise me on anything that can help it would be greatly appreciated. And don't hesitate to ask for additional information.
EDIT: Also, it does not boot, thus any flashing utility that runs on windows or requires an actual boot of any kind will not work.
