Compaq CQ62-219WM Showing black screen AFTER replacing it.
So I guess my question is pretty simple. When I replaced my customer's screen on their COmpaq- CQ62-219WM and it showing up black. When I shine a flashlight in it I can see the start menu and whatnot. That means that I need to file a RMA right? I am guessing because the blacklight is out.

I found that pressing on the motherboard at a certain point the backlight turns on, which makes me think of a false contact in electronic components, maybe you can resolder using hot air welding to renew, but this procedure has the risk of damage plastic or hot components are out of place, take care.

Help! I installed Windows 7 on my early iMac 2008 using Bootcamp, with all the proper updates etc.
Now it shows a black screen (hard drive still running) after 10 or so minutes of running applications such as Firefox, Mail. Does not seem to happen when there is no activity - screensaver can run for over an hour with no black screen.
All i can do is emergency reboot, only for it to happen again.
Any ideas?That happened to me and I had to the my Mac to the Apple Store. It took the tech more than two hours to do the install using a thumb drive (which I had to buy) to download the workaround. I don't have the details, but he found the workaround online by searching Bootcamp and black screen. If you have access to an Apple Store and Genius Bar try that.

Mov videos show black screen after latest update (idvd, iweb)

I am facing a severe problem after updating my MacBook Pro (Mac OS X 10.6.8) with iDVD 7.1.2 and the iWeb Update. I opened a keynote'09 presentation and encountered that most videos do not show up or just show a black box. Then I tried to open the original mov videos with QuickTime Player 10 and 7 but also black screen. Everything worked perfectly before the update. Any ideas how to solve the problem? It is urgent because I have to give a presentation tomorrow. By the way, using VLC works fine, but this does not help me with keynote. Thanks for any answers.

It seems that there is still a problem with QuickTime. All other players such as MplayerX, VLC or mediAvatar can handle the mov videos (Apple Motion Jpeg A). Is there a solution?

just replaced my ram on macbook mid 2010 from 2gb to 8gb i get a black screen with 1 beep when i put 1 new and 1 old ram in it works system says now 5gb both new rams work seperatly but not together

We see posts like yours all the time here. It's because Toshiba machines require memory to be within tight specs. With most RAM, it's a crap shot. Eventually, you'll get modules that work.
To always get it right on the first try, buy the memory from Toshiba or get the best made by Kingston.

Ipad2 showing black screen after being upgraded to ios5
I upgraded IPad2 to ios5 through Mac, since then - for 5 hours - it has apple on black screen and mur-murs something every 5 minutes. For how long might it continue ?

I have installed an app : Birdfield guide in my iPhone 4. But the app is not working after installation. It shows black screen when opened. I need suggestions to make it work or the reasons for not working.
Yes TeeKnows, try deleting it and download it again. After finished installation if still shows black screen delete it out off 'running apps' by double tapping the home button and swipe it off. If still shows black screen then try fully turning off your iPad (holding the sleep button) and turn back on again.

1. Turn off iPad
2. Connect USB cable to computer
3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
5. Release the Home button
6. Open iTune
7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times. -

Lenovo G560 - Issue with won't boot and black screen after HDD upgrade.
What happen: My laptop was working fine, no blue screen issue, no funny business at all. I bought a new SSD Intel 120 GB and thought it would be a good idea to replace the HDD. I shutdown and disconnected the power adapter, waited a couple of minutes and removed the battery. I opened up the back case and replaced the HDD. And put all the screws back and put the battery back in.
Problem: The very first time I turned the power on, nothing happens besides a black screen. I pressed the dvd drive it works and opens up and closes. I waited for about 30 mins and still has blac screen. When I mean black screen, no bios menu, no logo, just a black screen with the fan sound on.
I have tried these:
1. Unplugged everything - battery, adapter, and pressed the power on button for about 60 seconds, nothing, the laptop turns on with the LED display on for both on and battery LED's. But nothing but black screen, no sound of windows loading just the fan and black screen.
2. I tried putting back my old 2.5" and nothing but black screen.
Thoughts and suggestions?

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with system not booting in your Lenovo G560 laptop.
As you have mentioned that the system not booting, please try to remove the RAM and turn on the system and check if you can hear any beep sound. Also try to clean the RAM slots and check for the issue.

Satellite A100-646 and external monitor shows black screen
Hello to everybody,
I have a similar problem with A100-646 (bought in Italy). Laptop's LCD and external monitor shows black screen but system boots without other problem. When laptop is not used for a long time (half a year) it work for one week without any problem.
Unfortunately, there is no proper service in a place where I live. Perhaps, there is a problem with power supply.
Is there other idea? Does anybody have a service manual? ([email protected])It is not easy to find shop where you can order original and new hardware components.
Best source for such parts is definitely eBay where you can buy used but well working components.
Upgrade? You must know that upgrade on mobile computers is not the same as on desktops. Cooling possibilities are not the best and each notebook model has optimized cooling system for original parts. So new graphic card can be more powerful and produce more heat and it is definitely not good for your notebook. So best thing you can do is to replace it with original part. -
[Solved] Amilo XI 2550 - Black screen after fresh install

I have been reading the archlinux wiki and forums since I started using arch several years ago. It was always possible to solve the problems I ran into by consulting these webpages, therefore a big thanks to the community for the provided help.
Two weeks ago I installed arch on a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo XI 2550. The first problem I ran into was that booting the live-cd resulted in a black screen and I could not even start with installing arch. This problem was solved with the kernel parameter 'nomodeset'.
The first boot of the freshly installed arch also resulted in a black screen after the GRUB menu which was perfectly displayed. After some searching (here and here and ...) I plugged in an external monitor and it showed the login screen. I then installed KDE because I thaught the problem might not show up with X and KDE running. After the login to KDE I realized that the brightness of the laptop display is nearly black but not totally. It seems as if the brightness is at a very low level, but brightness cannot be controlled with the Fn+F8 or Fn+F9 commands. But I see a OSD that indicates that the controls are used but without effect. So at the moment it is only possible to work on the laptop with another display connected to it.

Until now and amongst others I tried the following things.
Using kernel parameters
video.use_native_backlight=1
video.use_native_backlight=0
acpi_osi=linux
acpi_backlight=vendor
and others I just cannot remember.
Masking backlight
systemctl mask systemd-backlight@backlight:acpi_video0.service
systemctl mask systemd-backlight@backlight:radeon_bl0.service
Setting bl_power
echo 1 > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/bl_power
echo 1 > /sys/class/backlight/radeon_bl0/bl_power
Nothing of the above was improving the situation.
Your help on the problem would be highly appreciated.

The kernel parameter 'nomodeset' results in a working display but without X support, due to the fact that with 'nomodeset' there is no KMS support and therefore no X. But nevertheless I tried it and as expected X did not start.

The graphics card is a Radeon HD 2700 and according to the above dmesg log it is recognized as RV 630. The radeon module is loaded via /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and xf86-video-ati (1:7.5.0-1) is installed.

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are running into some print quality issues on your HP Photosmart 5510, you are unable to print in black ink.
I would like you to continue here: Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages, I understand you may have done some of these steps already but I need you to complete all steps in order to resolve the missing black issue you are experiencing.
Please note: There are three printhead cleaning stages. Complete all three stages if necessary. If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes after the last (third) cleaning stage to start the first stage of the cleaning process over again.
If you are still unable to print in black ink, I suspect the issue may be the printer and not the cartridge. Please let me know which Country/Region you are in as well as the product Warranty status: HP Warranty Checker

Macbook pro will not wake up and shows black screen
Purchased a MBP three weeks ago. After putting the MBP to sleep it will not wake up. Shows black screen and makes fan sound but will not start unless power off and then on again and at times this does not work.

Black screen after startup - Satellite A105-S4334
it gives me black screen after windows logo display right after the appearance of the cursor, and nothing i can do except hold on the "Turn off" button, and then restart again, it shows the menu to whether to start in safe mode ... network mode ... normally or lastest know good windows start ....
when it starts for the second time it works fine, it does this all the time and now i'm reinstalling windows for the 2nd time (factory-state) any solution or explanation for this issue?no, i didn't, nothing connected to it yet.
what trials i did:
i reinstalled my own windows XP and it didn't show this, but because the PowerSaver error msg. and returned back to the manufactuer state CD, and same black error occurs.
Notices:
1- when i do restart it doesn't happen
2- right away after it happens and hold on the power button till it shuts down and turn it on again, and it works fine.
3- i don't know is this has nothing to do with DVD/CD rom message comes after start up asking to disable DVD-Ram option or not? but i always answers NO
