Everything is not working fine, and a pop with sparks is not a normal result from turning on a power supply. If you got it from Tiger send it back and get this one.
I talked to the rep earlier, but I had to go to a meeting. When I called him back he said he was on the phone with Intel to make sure my CPU would work with that board. I know it will work so I have no clue why he called them. He didn't seem to concerned about the PSU though. I told him that the PSU popped and made sparks and it didn't phase him at all. I already told him I wanted to exchange the RAM with different kind and I wanted a new PSU. When I give him the new RAM and the PSU I want I will give this one a try.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Compaq CQ71-145EZ HDD upgrade to SSD

    Dear all.
My Compaq CQ71-145EZ hard drive is giving the rattle of death, so I decided to replace it with an SSD (SATA II, 128GB, OCZ Octane).
When I replace the existing drive with it, however, the BIOS does not recognize it. I get an error 3F0 and a message saying there is no disk drive.
I have InsydeH20 F.23 Bios installed, but an unable to find a way to get the advanced features of the BIOS that I saw mentioned in other forums.
Can anyone tell me if this machine can take an SSD? WHat do I need to do to get the machine to recopgnize the drive?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

You need to head on over to the OCZTechnology.com forums. You can use the tutorials that they have prepared for all types of OCZ SSD installs. You have to prepare the SSD for the installation.
Here is a link to the 2013 OCZ Technology ABC Guide for SSDs.
You can download and use the OCZ PC Bootable toolbox to setup the SSD. Without a partition on the SSD it will not be recognized by the BIOS.
Identify your SSD and follow the instructions. Your Octane SSD is SATA3, not SATA2 SSD. Octane SSD is an EOL product. Did you purchase it second hand? It did come with a three year warranty.

  • My '08 17" macbook pro motherboard replacement has issues

my mac had its motherboard replaced by the recall a couple years back and since i got it back it has been restarting on it's own, if have too much pressure on the keyboard or if the surface under (table) isn't perfectly level.
ONce it restarts - it won't stop until it's level and been powered off and on several times.
I had been living with this problem for the past 2 years as of this february (I believe) until it stopped for 24hrs 3 weeks ago and I was forced to buy again.
My buddy told me it could be because apple hired a 3rd party company to handle the replacements of the recalled motherboards and they neglected to tape a cable that causes the power surge to restart my mac or that they didn't solder the connection.
How can i fix this issue?

    Sorry, let me clarify.
Yes, it was the Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT recall
It works, but suffers from restarts when moved from one location to another and must be restarted over and over until the power from the surge stops.
I want to figure out how to fix myself (I do alot of iphone repairs and can handle small fixes) or if needed through apple or a 3rd party.
I need it fixed completely, because I'm sending this to my computer illiterate mother.

  • When the next iPhone launches, will the iPhone 4S 64GB model still be available?

I want an iPhone 4S (Sprint), but my upgrade doesn't come until next September. By then, most likely, the new iPhone will come out and drive the price of the 4S down. But will the 64GB model still be available? Or will it only be 8GB like the iPhone 4 is on Sprint only right now?

No one here has any way of knowing beyond what has happened in the past.
Since the 4S was just announced/released... we have no way of knowing when a new model will be announced.  It could be June/July as in the past or it could be next Oct.... it's merely speculation.
Since speculation is against the terms of use of these forums, no one can really answer your question.
Your options, pay full price now or wait and see what happens.

  • Lenovo B560 motherboard replacement

    Hi,
My dear laptop died on me about a month ago. It wouldn't do anything when pressing the power button and the power led would not light when connected to power. Tried with or without the battery, no led, no power. I checked with another cable and I checked my cable on another laptop and it worked so the issue has nothing to do with the power cable.
I took the laptop to my universities repair shop for a diagnosis and they said the Motherboard is dead.
Any suggestion where I could find a brand new motherboard replacement in the UK?
    Thanks,

  • Qosmio F10 won't recover after motherboard replacement

    Hi,
I'm having a problem with recovery on my Qosmio F10. It won't boot from the CD, I get a message 'media test failure check cable'.
I tried everything I could find here about this problem with no result. Then I read somewhere on this forum that recovery cd wouldn't work if the laptop has been serviced and has a new motherboard. This is excatly the case.
I had a new motherboard and CD/DVD drive put some time ago.
How do I make it work again?
    A.

    > Then I read somewhere on this forum that recovery cd wouldn't work if the laptop has been serviced and has a new motherboard. This is exactly the case.
Who has replaced the motherboard? The ASP?
Well, usually the Recovery CD should works after the motherboard replacement.
I presume the parts were replaced with exactly the same parts and therefore there shouldnt be a conflict between the Recovery CD and the new motherboard.
Did you try to boot from another bootable CDs like Win XP or Linux? Check this!

  • R61I Motherboard Replacement

Afte rmany years my R61I 8918CTO  08/03 has given up the ghost due to the infamous
Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M.. GARBLED DISPLAY PROBLEM that Lenovo and Nvidia know about and of course refuses to fix now.
I have the 15.4" wide screen with 1900 max resolution, 1394 firewire, bluray writer and T9300 chip so it was a very expensive nice laptop that still does everything I want. I have taken very good care of it over the years and it is in excellent condition. Right now it is brick due to the GPU chip. Now my question is what is the Motherboard number without me taking it apart to get it before I have a replacement board and what motherboards replace it? AFter research I see if I can get the same motherboard after 08/08 it should be good. Or is there another motherboard with a better GPU chip I can use? I know this is an old laptop but it will cost over $1000 to get the same thing now just slightly faster with more memory I do not need so I would like to fix this one.
I have found what I believe is in the laptop either 42W7791 or 42W7882 both with the Nvidia chip. I cannot find a replacement with the Intel chip.
    Thanks!

There's the possibility of fitting a T61p planar (Nvidia Quadro FX570M) in your R61i case, but the frame needs modifications and there are other disadvantages. Source (german only): http://thinkwiki.de/R61i#T61-Board_im_R61-Geh.C3.A4use
Regarding the Intel boards, you can try to get one of the following FRU numbers listed below, there might be more, I got those from the hardware maintenance manual (you can download it from here: click me!)

    Hi Guys,
I'm replacing my motherboard as its dead, no sign of life when power cable is plugged in, it shows that charger is plugged in by illuminating power sign on the led screen where hdd light, power on lights are.
so assuming need a new motherboard. I've bought new one now struggling to open the laptop to get it out. I have removed
every possible visible screws from the back but it seems like one or two screws are holding it up from the middle of the laptop which It seems like they're screwed from below the keyboard.
I would apprecaite if someone can show me how to get this motherboard out, I'd really appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance.

I don't think I will ever receive reply from HP tech support as I have rang them and they were unable to help me.
So far I have bought 18 laptops for my business and guess what all of them had one or the other issue. 2 of them needed motherboard replacing within 2 months,
Based on my experience with HP products and especially HP tech Support, I would never recommend anyone to buy any HP product from now on.
