Hi:
The only suggestion I can offer is to reinstall the audio driver, and see if that remedies the situation.

    Hi,
I too have been pulling my hair out with this problem on the 6540B. However after  2 days of various driver combinations I've finally found a working fix. I don't have the luxury of reinstalling Windows XP as the machine is custom configured with apps which will take over a week to configure again.
If you've got no audio it's probably because you've installed the IDT High Def Audio Driver. You may have tried a whole bunch of other options also to try and rectify the problem as I did.
    The solution is fairly simple:
Goto to add/remove programs and remove "SoundMax".
    Reboot
The audio driver may try to reinstall on boot up... allow it to install. It will still not work and will still show exclamation mark against IDT driver in Device Manager.
Goto run... then type regedit and hit enter. Windows registry opens.
    Goto My Computer>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>CurrentControlSet>Services>
Delete the WHOLE KEY for AEAudio and then exit regedit
Go to device manager and uninstall the IDT High Def Audio device from Device Manager
Then using the original HP Application and Driver Recovery DVD supplied with the notebook, run the autoplay, choose Hardware Enabling Drivers, tick only the IDT High Def Audio driver and follow the installation instruction on screen. You will be prompted to reboot after which Windows will find new hardware. The IDT will install itself and you will find that the sound works!
    Good Luck!
For those that cannot find their original disk, the IDT Audio Driver from the original disk is available at http://tinyurl.com/IDTAudio6540b or http://www.4shared.com/file/RxXn5afj/IDTAUDIO.html

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59001-59500/sp59291.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow thisand then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Start the notebook and let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

Call HP and order Recovery kit of your Notebook which would have OS and factory shipped software which went with the notebook. You will get recovery kit for a nominal charge of 15$-25$ depending on type of shipping

  • Compaq Mini CQ10-101SA Windows XP - Unable to view entire software or webpages in a window

    Hi all!
We have a Compaq Mini CQ10-101SA which is running Windows XP.  We have an issue with the display on certain webpages and software whereby you cannot see the entire page in the window.  While this has been somewhat "inconvenient" when viewing webpages, it has now become a problem as we cannot use an important software package that we have installed.
Attached is a screen shot of the software in question - Hogia Smart Kassa (a point of sale till system).  The bottom third of the page is missing, and you cannot scroll down to see it.  This is a problem as it is where the "pay now" button is!
I have tried different screen resolution settings, DPI settings, and screen appearance settings in the "Display" area of the control pannel but nothing stops this from happening.  Is there a "shrink to fit" button that will show the entire page on the screen in a smaller size?  Can anyone help?!
    Many thanks,
    Ashley

I grasp that your retail software displays to large on the screen.  If there is a way to set a screen setting for a particular program you would need to check with the manufacture for that setting.
In the meantime you can try this as a work around.  Once you have the  pay window launched if you press and hold  the CTRL and press the minus sign it will make the screen smaller.  To enlarge it you would press and hold CTRL and press the + sign.
    I hope this helps.

  • Restoration for Compaq mini CQ10-112nr

My HP Compaq mini CQ10+12nr has crashed  I was trying to restore it to factory default and now it will not let me even go to the safe mode screen it will not even sign on,  It will go to the screen that will give you the option of safe mode and etc. then it will stroll down and it said that my WINDOWS\SYSTEM\vgaoem.fon is corrupt or missing and I should get a windows set disk. My compaq runs windows 7.  How can I get the disk which has to be a flash drive or how can I restore it to factory default.  Please Help !!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey Hapless,
I'm sorry you're running into this issue with the recovery.
Here's how to put Windows 7 onto a USB flash drive and reinstall Windows.
    1. Turn your computer over and look for the Windows Product Key label. Write down the Product Key so you can use it to install Windows.
    2. Download the Windows 7 ISO (MAKE SURE TO GET THE 32-BIT VERSION) using another computer. Save it to the Desktop, not the USB yet.
    3. Download Rufus from here and follow the instructions to make a USB drive bootable.
    4. Insert the USB drive into the mini.
    5. Press the Power button on your mini to turn it on. Immediately start tapping the F9 key to enter Boot Options. Select USB from the Boot Options menu.
    6. Use your Product Key to install Windows. You'll have to go to your HP Driver Page once Windows has installed and download all of your drivers and software.
Let me know if you have any questions about those steps and please let me know the results when you get a chance
