Compaq nx7300 problem

I changed the motherboard on my compaq nx7300 and every time i boot the system the 163 time not set error appears, and after that nothing happens .. it won't boot from anything (DVD or HDD)... the screen just stays partially lit. Can someone help me ?
Thank you

Even I have the same Problem. My Compaq NX 7300 does not boot, keyboards does not work in bios mode, cursor keeps on blinking in black screen, does not boot up with dvd or cd. I had win 8 installed in the system and all of a sudden this problem occured. I think it might be a Motherboard problem. Any suggestions guys to troubleshoot this problem??

  • Reset bios passwornd on old Compaq NX7300

    Hi everyone,
I need to reset the bios password on old Compaq NX7300. This notebook is of my friend.
I tried to reset password removing for one night the backup battery, the PSU cable and the CMOS battery located under the keyboard but without success. With this operation I only reset the bios (It asked me for set time and date) but not the password, probably is under a different chip.
My friend know the access password but not the bios password.
I tried to enter in bios with "common password" but after three times it locked itself and show me an "*".
Someone know a different procedure to reset?
    Thanks

    Hi
As far as I know Bios password cannot be set from alone. If the BIOS password is not known to me you need professional help. Toshiba service partner in your country can help you with this.
BIOS password is very important security feature and it cannot be discussed in public forum.
Contact nearest Toshiba ASP, explain the situation and they will help you with this.

  • I915_wait_irq crash - HP Compaq nx7300

    Hi,
I have some problems with my laptop (HP nx7300 with intel core2duo, and intel 945GM) - it hangs while playing 3d games (sauerbraten), in wine and sometimes when I leave HP running for few days without reboot. Result is always the same - X server crashes with black screen and green stripe in upper part of it, tries to restart by itself but fails. I can only reboot with sysreq or ctrl+alt+del. Only thing I found in logs is:
    [drm:i915_wait_irq] *ERROR* EBUSY -- rec: 112684 emitted: 112688
What's unusual when compared with other crash reports is that X server sometimes crashes when left for long time - I use kdemod with no screensaver, I only leave transmission running in background. And wine - I'm running 2d games on it and I don't understand why it makes X crashing the same way sauerbraten does (unless wine is using opengl for rendering 2d...).
    Some things I've tried already:
    1. Changing driver i810<->intel
    2. Changing AccelMethod (both EXA and XAA)
    3. Disabling DRI - I'm not sure if it works: eg. sauerbraten drops framerate to <1fps so it's unusable...
Points 1. and 2. make no difference for me, sauerbraten still hangs. I tried also some switches for EXA ('greedy' one, for example).
I would like to know if someone with nx7300 had such problems and is there anything more I could do with those errors - I'm not even sure if error is triggered only by opengl, maybe chipset is overheated (I have also WnXP Home and sometimes it hangs with black screen after few hours)?
I can provide logs if needed.
    Cheers,
    niski

Where did you get that kernel?
I tried to compile my own kernel once, not that I needed to, but I thought it would be fun. Unfortunately, all those options overwhelmed me (do I need support for foo or is it safe to disable that? should it be built in, or a module?) Just too many options about which I knew nothing. For this reason I'd rather not have to compile it myself. Plus, I don't know if it would actually help with my problem.

  • Compaq presario problems with vista

Hello, I am having major problems with our compaq presario sr5233wn desktop, os windows vista home premium. It started shutting down about ten days ago randomly, then started with a blue screenthat has displayed different messages... I have completed 6 different restore points and this didn't work... I then backed up my personal files and performed a complete system recovery installed on the pc...it worked great for about half an hour then the freaded blue screen popped up and I had to shut it down...i did this three times to no avail...then I did a complete recovery from the two discs I made shortly after purchase...that has not worked either...does anyone out there have a fix for this..I need my ole puter.
    Thanks Elmer

    Hi Elmer,
Sounds like the first thing you need to do is test for a hardware failure.  Check out Testing for Hardware Problems Using Hardware Diagnostic Tools (Windows Vista) and since it sounds like you are having problems running Windows for very long, skip to the bottom to the section called Using Hardware Diagnostic Tools when Windows does not open.  Run the tests and report back what you find, if anything fails then there is probably a hardware component that needs replaced, possible culprits include the memory or the hard drive based on the symptoms you are describing.  If everything passes, post that back as well, and let us know, and we can look for other causes of your problems.
    Good Luck!

  • Compaq cq50 problems (solved)

    Hi All,
I picked up my new laptop today a compaq cq50.
So far i've not been able to get a single linux disk to work on this machine 32bit or 64
i keep getting machine check exception errors that google reveals is something todo with slightly older kernels.
i have an old install disk that i can get to boot upto the udev section but once it tries to load the ath_pci modules bums out.
so far i have tried the command line brokenmodules=ath5k,ath_pci,ath_hal and still had no luck stopping udev from loading this module.
    Any suggestions ?
    Thanks

Just incase anyone else runs into this problem. I made a new install disk using the Larch scripts (very easy to use btw)
with a newer kernel and the archinstall scripts from core.
Worked a charm. Laptop is now running arch and i no longer have nightmares about windows Vista

  • COMPAQ NC6000- PROBLEM FREEZING

MY Compaq NC6000 Pen 4 1.6 GHz 512 MB. when windows is set to the right time and date system freezes. ( all system is new install os-XP-pro) think is bios issue. another problem hp doesnt have an update for this system.QQ. but when system is not set to proprer time and date system runs fine. turns on and off fine. all systems are good( in divice manager).

    Hi:
Here are all the BIOS release notes for the nc6000. None address a freezing issue when the date and time is correctly set.
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=0&...
Are you are aware of a system board problem that develops in many of the nc6000's over time?
See this post. That power chip could be starting to go out on you.
    http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-HP-ProBook-Compaq-Slate/nc6000-no-startup/m-p/943898#M135735
Eventually your notebook will just shut down on its own. The way to test for a bad solder connection is to press down on the silver paneal above the F10-F11 keys. If your notebook unfreezes it won't be long before it is not going to work at all.

  • Compaq 100b problems

Hi, i have a Compaq 100b small form factor pc, that i bought in the beginning of October, about a week after i bought it, it started freezing and having trouble turning on, so i contacted HP and i was told to download a driver and it didn't work. When i turn the computer on it almost always beeps 5 times with the orange light and the only way to make that stop is to hold the power button down, or unplug it, i usually have to do this multiple times, and about twice a week this requires a system recovery. Then once i finally get it turned on, i freezes frequently was a square of static around the cursor and must be forcefully shut down. Open to any suggestions.

    Hi:
Normally if you are getting 5 beeps it means you have a memory problem (hardware).
I recommend you go into the BIOS and run the memory diagnostics test. If it fails, you then need to isolate the problem to the bad chip.
The only way to do that is to remove each memory module until the PC runs normally. Then you know what module is bad.
Then seek a replacement module under your warranty if your PC is under warranty, or from the memory manufacturer directly if the PC is no longer under warranty. Most memory has a lifetime warranty.

  • Compaq 3611AU Problem

    Hi All,
First of all let me tell you I am a very very happy customer of HP till date. I'm using Compaq 3611AU since over 4 years. It just started a giving problem of audio detection since last 2 months. Some times it detects and sometimes it doesn't. So initial investigation from HP Forum and some of my vendors that this models has nVidia chipset problems and once it starts it would spoil display, keyboards, gradually. I can't afford to buy new laptop at this moment. So my question to hardware experts of HP as following:
    1. Is it advisable to repair nVidia chipset of this model i.e. Compaq 3611au and one of my vendor told that it has cross chipset (I understand the chipset but don't know what he was talking about cross chipset) and success ration of replacing chipset is just 40%. So I want to ask HP guys is he right? Can anyone tell me that if I spend money on repairing chipset would it be worth or it would start creating problems after some months?
    2. Is it possible replace whole motherboard? If yes, then what would be best suitable for this model Compaq 3611AU? Also is any idea how it would cost in INR?
    Thank you..
    Viresh

    Hi,
Those machines are more than 3 years old. How can you get warranty for it ? For the OP, please do not waste your money to repair it, you will be getting nowhere. New machines are very cheap now, not like 4 years ago. Just save money to buy a new machine.
    Regards.

  • Compaq CQ61 problem with external speaker.

    Hi,
I have this problem with playing music from my laptop through an amplifier to some discotheque speakers.
The balance changes so that the left speaker is playing much more than the right, and after a while the sound
turns into almost plain distortion. I have my laptop connected with a common jackstick with a left and right to the amplifier.
I wonder if anyone could find a solution to my problem..
I have had the amplifier checked, and the cable, but there shouldn't be any problems with those.
    Jesper

i don't know that i would call it "common," but i have seen a few complaints about it. again though, it hasn't been a complaint i've seen often. i do think it's a cheap speaker. mine is nearly a year old and has not blown.....but i was never impressed with it.

  • Compaq nx7000 problem

Hey guys, I have a problem which has been causing me a major headache. I borrowed this laptop of my friend and when I first had it, it worked like a total gem. Then one day after carrying it home (I'm always very careful with it) it wouldn't boot into windows and kept giving me error messages such as "non-system disk" and "fixed disk or bios error" at startup, sometimes I couldn't even load the bios setup. So after a lot of time I managed to get it to finally boot, and then it worked fine for a few more weeks until I moved it again and then there was a blue screen and the same problem.
I again managed to get into windows, but noticed that the sound and video became very glitchy and the computer was much slower. I took it to a shop and they tested the hard-disk and the motherboard. They found no problems but told me that I had to flash the bios and reinstall windows.
I've done this... flashed the bios through windows with the latest version, completely formatted the hard-drive and performed a clean windows install and then reinstalled all of the drivers. It is much faster but my sound is still a bit choppy and so is the video, especially when multitasking. Why is this? I have just performed a HDD Self Test through the bios and found no problems. I don't want to pay again to take it back to a shop because I think it was a waste of money.
Any ideas? I was thinking that perhaps the connection between the HD and the motherboard is a bit dodgy but the shop removed it, tested it on another system, had no problems and then replaced it.
Any advice will be welcome as I want this thing running better than it was before!
    Many thanks.

  • Compaq nx7300 using vista business 32

trying to run a restore with the factory recover cd's. after disk is run i get an error " a disk read error occurred" press
ctrl + alt + del to restart.  i tried different hard drive, memory. and get the same result

    unless I mis-understood your problem:
More than likely it cannot read the recovery cd, be sure it is clean and no deep scratches.

  • Compaq CQ50-110US notebook

    Laptop issue.
So the other day I was on my laptop and the grpahics of a game become a little buggy. I found it to be a little odd, but was thinking it was acting slow due to low memory.
So, I decided to restart the computer. I logged out of the game, and did the standard restart through windows and it got to the compaq splash art and stopped. It did not load windows and about 1 min after sitting on splash screen the screen went black except for a blinking cursor at the top left.
This concerned me because I also keep alot of information on my laptop for job use.  I decided to try and do a repair by doing F11 which is supposed to fix windows, thinking it was a windows error. F11 does nothing.
I can hit all the other options from F-keys and they work but F11 is a no go.
My laptop does not beep on start up and I was told by a friend that if it did then it was the HD that went bad, but nothing.
I really cant take it to a shop because lack of funds at the moment and I would really like to be able to keep the info on my HD, but i need a working computer.
I started looking up the compaq CQ50 problems and fixes and go figure aside from the over heating issues that I have had to deal with, which when i first noticed it, I went about doing everything i could to keep it cool.
Now apparently I have been made aware of just how many issues people have with this laptop and needless to say, i regret buying an HP product.
It is out of warranty and I do not have a boot disk, because they do not ship them with the computers anymore.
Which i was hoping to try and see if it worked.
Would anyone by chance know the issue and possibly help me fix it?
    Thanks

  • 4010ca usb device unknown

I have a compaq R4000 tag #4010ca I reloaded win xp and my when installing mouse or any usb device i get usb unknown downloaded the driver from compaq and problem is till there can anyone help. Thanks

Drivers for the Blackberry: Not quite sure how to check this. When I plug the phone into the computer, it does not recognize it. When I go to the device manager, it comes up in the USB portion as "Unknown Device". I've tried updating the driver by pointing it to the USB driver folder in the commons files section, but it won't take.
The phone has been recognized previous for about a day, so I don't think it's firewall/security related, as nothing has changed in that realm.
The device is not in mass storage mode.
I have not tried another computer, but I have tried two completely different Tours, as my carrier was willing to replace the unit. Neither works, and this to me makes it seem obvious that it is the computer, not the phone. I've also tried multiple USB cables.

  • Problem to get 3d work on HP Compaq Business Desktop dx2000

I bought a brand new HP with linux - mandrake - a month ago. I installed mandrake but then I got so confused that I through it all away and started on again with Archlinux that I have become used to.
Everything (well, of course not everything but most :? ) works all right but a few things doesn't.
First I couldn't get CUPS to work properly but that I solved - but don't ask me how. I think I did the same things over 5 times and then suddenly it worked as it should.
Then I had problems with the sound - but that worsk now after following the wiki.
Then I had problems with playing CD and DVD but that I managed to get to work.
    But now I am stuck.
The 3d doesn't work. I tried to install all 3d modules I could find in arch but no result. I tried through hwd -e and lokalsed the modules named there with no result. I even tried NVIDIA (the computer have a intel graphics on board and no Nvidia-card) with the result that now the CD can't play sound-CD and the DVD doesn't work for multimedia despite newest xine and mplayer, koffeine etc I installed.
So I have 3 major problems:
    1) the 3d card I want to start working
    2) the CD-rom should be able to play sound-CD
    3) the DVD should be able to play dvd-films.
    Some hard-data:
    HP Compaq Business Desktop dx2000
Intel celeron with MMX technology 2.6 Ghz and 400 Mhz system bus
    Integrated ADI AD1888 Audio
Integrated Intel extreme Graphics 2 with GDI/GDI+ and Direct Show controller
Graphics memory 16 Mb + extra through Intel Dynamic Video Memory. Complete OpenGL 1.3 support.
    2 DVD-drives installed Toshiba Samsung
Any one that could giv me a hint on how to start the solving of this?
