Compaq Preasario CQ60-214EM. YouCam101 software. Skype doesnt find video camera.
Above laptop was originally running Windows Vista. Youcam software works ok, but when running skype, Skype software does not find the internal video camera.
Have gone to Options/video, but no camera listed.
Bios upgrade done.
Intel video drivers upgraded.
Running latest version of Skype.
Plugged in an external 'Skype compatable' video camera. Still no camera listed under tools/options/video
Upgraded operating system to Windows 7 Home Premium, and issue remains.
How do I resolve this issue please.
Note. Skype does not detect either an internal or external video camera. Unable to select internal or external video camera under the options tab.

It appears that you're having an issue with skype seeing any webcam on the notebook. I will try to assist you with this.
As the webcam works with the youcam software, there has to be a conflict with Skype and it "seeing" imaging devices.

Compaq presario CQ60 214EM Unable to retrieve contents of Discs ! Vista home premium
Can anyone shed some light on my problem please ? I have a compaq presario Vista Home premium and until this week I have been able to insert run and copy from all of my discs back on to the laptop as and when I need images. Now I cannot do anything .I manage to get as far as seeing that the disc has folders on it but I cannot retrieve anything and worse when I go into Computer and dble click the DVD RW drive (e) it shows that on a few discs a certain amount of memory has been used on the disc but when I click to view folders there is nothing to see. On other discs I am told there is nothing on them even though I can clearly see the pie chart which shows how much memory has been used and how much is still available. I dont understand why this has happened.
Is this happening with disks that worked before or do old disks work and this is happening with new recorded disks?
Were the disks made by the system or by a different system?
Do the disks work in other computers?
Do the disks look like they have scratches/smudges/fingerprints if you hold the disk at an angle?
Try reviewing the steps in this document. Skip any steps that have already been tried.
More importantly, does the DVD drive have the newest firmware listed here?
Try updating the firmware as well as the steps in the document.
Let me know what happens.

Why did the new update for my macbook air hinder my ability to use my camera for google and skype but not photobooth or facetime??? This is messed up it was working yesterday and now neither google or skype can find a camera on from my mac? what do I do??

I got HP Compaq Presario CQ60-320sa and the window vista product key is fade. I can read first, second and last.
Now my earlier hard disk got crashed because of bad sector and I have to installed new one which I did now I want window vista product key for activation and the sticker back of my laptop cover is fade can't read all product key. If I download HP- USB RECOVERY FLASH DISK UTILITY does this software let me reset my laptop to factory version and won't ask me for product key. Thank you for your time.I understand you need a product key.
An HP recovery should have Vista already activated with the product key for the system. Do you have access to recovery media for this system (disks or a USB recovery drive)? If you can perform an official HP recovery, there shouldn't be a need to get the product key off the bottom of the notebook. The utility you mentioned only creates the media from the recovery partition on supported systems. Since the HDD was replaced due to a failure, I am afraid that the flash disk utility will not be of use as the recovery partition is not present on replacement HDDs.
Some users have had success with contacting Microsoft regarding the unreadable product key. They might be worth a try.
According to this page, the HP part number for the recovery kit for this system is 515724-031. You might be able to find the appropriate recovery disk set from a third party ensuring the part number matches. You might want to verify with HP that the recovery disks are not available from HP before using a third party source.

Yours is one of the moderate models and you will find links to all the drivers you need. My own take on this is you are going in the wrong direction. Instead of back to XP you should go forward to Windows 7, but XP can be made to work on that machine. Good luck and feel free to post back with any more questions. -

I followed the wiki's instructions and I could install Arch Linux correctly but I have a problem. I can connect to Internet by wireless, I haven't got wired access and I followed this instructions:

The easiest thing to do is to spray canned air into the vents by the fan and heat sink. If a lot of dust comes out, that will probably take care of the issue. If no dust comes out, then you have other issues causing overheating and thermal shutdown. Take care not to overspin the fan blades when you blow the air into it.

Compaq Laptop CQ60-615DX Little white light beside the dc jack blinking repeatedly non-stop
Compaq Laptop CQ60-615DX white light next to where you plug in the power cable keeps blinking. Never stops Blinking. Computer doesn't power on.
The DC jack is loose, took the laptop apart, pressed down on the dc jack to hold it in place, and stuck the power cable back in. Tried to wiggle the cable around to see if the jack is bad. But it feels pretty solid, it's just the housing holding the dc jack in place that's broken.
But I'm still getting the little white light beside the dc jack blinking repeatedly non-stop. No system power.
Question is.
1. Is the DC power jack bad and needs to be replaced or.
2. There is a short in the motherboard and the motherboard needs to be replaced.
I have check all over the internet for what the white light blinking means. I've found no answer.
Could someone please tell me what is wrong with this computer?I already encouted this problem yesterday and I want to share this information on how I was able to fix this issue where in the dc jack blinking repeatedly and the laptop wont turn on. This issue is resulted due to overheat so laptop automatically shutdown and results to some kind of hibernation.
1. First you need to dissamble your laptop (compaq cq60). To clean the exhaust fan. I cleaned it because it was very dirty. I used my laptop for almost five years. If you dont know how to dissamble your laptop, you can check the tutorial from youtube. Just be very careful.
2. After Removing all the parts you can use a brush to remove all the dust inside your laptop. After cleaning all the dirt inside the laptop you need to let the motherboard cool for 1 to 1.5 hrs.
3. When you put the dc jack dont put the battery. So once you plugged the DC jack you can see if the light beside the jack still blinking or steady.
4. Once the light is steady., you can now power on your laptop. and a message will appear that your laptop overheated.
5. You can use cooling fan to prevent from heating.
6. Clean the parts inside your laptop every half year. to remove dust that cause the exhaust fan not to work properly.
Now I was able to use my laptop again.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ60 that is about a year old. These days I have been experiencing problems with my laptop. The problem is that the top hand corner gets hot, and then my laptop automatically shuts down itself. There is plenty of battery on my laptop, and it also happens, while my charger is plugged into it. This mainly happens when I am at school, where I do not bring my notebook fan cooler. I can basically do nothing, because every 30 minutes it will automatically shut down itself. It even happens when I am in "Battery save" mode. This is starting to irrate me, because I have only had this laptop for about a year, and my warranty just expired so there isn't much I could do. I have read about this being a problem to a lot of people...
I am wondering if it has something to do with my battery, because it is really bad. It only lasts for about 30 minutes from 100% to 10%. I do not know what the problem is, because I have no expertise in laptops.

Sound Card and Wifi device Not working - Compaq Presario CQ60 -109EM AMD Sempron
I need a driver for my new note book Compaq Presario CQ60 109EM for Windows XP sp2 operating system.
It was on Vista Home Basic. I hated it because it made the computer ran very slow, i downgraded to XP Sp2
by myself, but now i am getting issues with all drivers. Everything is not working, the worse one is the sound
card and wifi device are not working event not detected by xp. Please help me.grr i have the same problem, my laptop is the same model as urs. Go to Nvidia.com for the graphics card driver, the graphics card for our laptops is the nvidia geforce 8200 m card, just search it into the download section (it will ask you to). I cant get the internet working but im usin a usb modem. The webcam can be activated by going to the start menu and right clicking my computer and going to the manage option from here go to the device manager.
Go to the yellow section and it will say other devices it will say hp webcam now download a youcam driver or whatever and right click on the hp webcam
and select update driver click on this time only and select download from a spesific location and select the webcam driver it will hopefully work and be removed from the yellow section. now using a webcam veiwer you can use it. Thats all i know so far but i really would like to get my sound working mainly because on xp on this laptop it is pretty powerful for games as i can run crysis at medium settings at an exeptional level but obviously, NO SOUND GRR..... -

Hp webcam 101 driver for my laptop compaq presario cq60-110ee
I just bought my laptop model Compaq Presario CQ60-110EE last Jan 1, 2009. I installed Windows Vista Premium and started to look for drivers at www.hp.com. Gladly, I found all the drivers except for my built-in webcam and bluetooth peripheral device. I searched and tried other webcam drivers hoping it will work but failed. There is youcam driver in hp site but this doesn't work. Could anyone help me find my webcam and bluetooth peripheral device drivers? There's an ftp site for hp which is ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp39001-39500 but I don't which of those drivers is the right one for my webcam.

Compaq Presario CQ60-211dx - Windows XP Sounds Are Low Pitched
I know I'm going to get replies saying to upgrade my OS from Windows XP.
I have a Compaq Presario CQ60-211dx running Windows XP Professional 32 bit. The system sounds are kind of low pitched. Let's say the system audio is at C but my sound is at B flat. It's starting to become kind of annoying, because I don't really like sounds that are off tone. Also whenever I close and open the lid on the laptop, the sounds just don't work, until I restart the laptop. I have Conexant HD Smartaudio 221.

I understand that you are having sound quality issues. I am happy to assist. When I looked up your notebook I found that there were no drivers for XP on the support page, which would mean it was not sold configured for XP. So the drivers you are using would not have been customized to be compatible with the other standard devices in this series of notebooks. That may be part of the problem.
