Compaq Presario 2132RS: Conexant AC-Link Audio - no sound

I am desperate about this: the sound disappeared first with flash applications, then it disappeared at all.
I tried to re-install drivers for the Conexant AC-Link Audio, all is fine - with no conflicts, but in the Sound and Audio Devices window it says "No Audio device".
Does anyone know what can be the problem?
What is to be done to install it so that the system sees it?
Thanks to all in advance!

    Hello,
I just reinstall Window XP on my compaq presario r4000 notebook, and I download

does't work for my "Conexant AC-Link Audio

    OK...
Now we have to get creative!
Download and install the free 7-Zip utility.
    http://7-zip.en.softonic.com/
    Download this driver:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=US&swItem=ob-317...
Decompress driver audio Conexant CX20468-31 AC97 and Equalizer with the 7-Zip software.
Once installed, do a right click on the file sp30578.exe, select 7-Zip/extract the files and then click OK.
Force the installation of the driver manually:
In the device manager, right click on the audio controller, and select Update driver.
Select install from a list or specific location Do not search. I will choose the driver to install.
Click on next, Have Disk, and browse.
Select the cpl3085a.inf file in the uncompressed folder sp30578, and then click Open.
Click on OK, next and finish.
    Restart the computer.

    Hi:
Those ID's confirm that your notebook has the Conexant AC-Link audio chip.
OK...here is what I did. A little detective work...
I like to use the free 7-zip file utility to extract the component files from the exe.
When I extracted the files from the driver that is posted by HP for your model that I linked you to above, here is the hardware ID for the Conexant Audio chip the driver supports.
    [Conexant]
    %*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD,PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E
As you can see, this driver supports a different Conexant audio chip than the one in your notebook, because the hardware ID you posted is PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370
So, I googled the hardware ID and found several drivers that had the main ID of PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370, but they had a different &SUBSYS number.
I had to download and extract the files from a few of them before I finally found one that matched the exact hardware ID as yours which is PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_3091103C
Please see if this one works...

  • Compaq Presario C754CA Audio & Graphic Drivers?

    Compaq Presario C754CA
    Specifications: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01297770&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3650105&os=228&lang=en
    Date Bought: 1-2 Years Ago
    Original Operating System: Vista
Current Operating System: Windows XP Professional SP 3 [Version 2002]
Well, I noticed that HP and Compaq do not supply Windows XP Drivers. I have managed to install the following things:
    Intel Pro [for WiFi]
    Broadcom
    Intel Chipset
    Intel Graphics
    Synaptics Touch Pad
    Microsoft UUA Audio Driver Bus
Now, I'll just tell you now: I do not know which of the following is my Audio but I have tried both and both have failed.
    Realtech HD Audio
    Conexant Audio Driver
I install them and I get to the end, and I receive an error about "MEDIA" not being found, thus it stops. I then proceed to the next step: force updating through the Device Manager - Only the Audio doesn't show up on my Device Manager! Originally it did, but now it has refused to appear, thus stumping me further. I will say that even when it was there, though, it refused to update, and claims that "This device has failed to start".
I have tried IDENTIFYING my Audio Driver for better results through Aida32, Driver Detective, and Driver Scanner. Not only was Driver Detective useless, but the other two either couldn't download / install the proper driver, or didn't even display that there was an Audio device on my PC at all!
As for the Graphic Driver, I do have it installed, but it won't launch games for me, such as Ragnarok Online, Lineage II, etc. These games are properly done in Set-Up to launch with Direct 3D HAL; the Mobile Chipset is apparently bullcrikes and I've always used Direct 3D HAL / HAL x2 or whatever it was.
    - Questions!
    1) Where can I find the name of the Audio Device on my Presario C754CA laptop?
    2) Where can I find the driver of the Audio Device on my Presario C754CA laptop?
    3) Why does my laptop refuse to launch games I could previously launch on Vista?

    [Edit]
I'm pretty sure my Audio Device is actually:
    Conexant  High Definition Audio-Venice 5045
What do I do to install this properly?
    [Edit2]
Here's an image of what my Device Manager looks like:
    http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu233/Yusshin/Audio.png
The "Conexant High Definition Audio-Venice 5045" that you see was installed on an Unknown Device that I don't know what the heck was honestly :\ And there are still 2 unknown devices there; I have nothing connected other than a USB Wi-Fi thing for my mouse and my keyboard. In total, there were 3 Unknown Devices; I just randomly selected one to find the ID of my Audio Device.
Please help me; I'm a Gamer and I hate Vista. I don't want to go back to it.
[P.S.] You may notice that I have a Vista skin; I am running XP so do NOT get confused ^^

  • No audio on my Compaq Presario F750EL

Hi everyone, I've some troubles with my audio system.
This morning I was on Youtube watching a video; I closed the page for a while, then I tried to watch again the same video and I didn't get any sound (I tried even with headphones, but I can't still hear a thing).
On my speaker icon there's a red cross, if I put my cursor on it, it says "No AudioDevice Installed".
So, I went to my local support site (I'm Italian) and tried to fix the problem by going on Start>services.msc>Windows Audio>right click, but then I couldn't click on the Start button as I was supposed to.
I then tried to download the driver for my notebook. At first, I let HP check for me if I needed any but then, as it said I didn't, I downloaded myself the only audio driver possible for my version (I checked and put the right operative system).
However, when I try to install the driver, it runs properly until it says that the driver cannot be installed because it can't find the device for this driver.
N.B.: I haven't uninstalled my previous driver and I haven't downloaded any upgrade lately, my audio just switched off for no reason apparently.
Honestly I'm not that good with computers so, please, explain clearly; I also hope that I was enough clear and the terms were right as I translated everything at my best.
Thanks a lot in adance for a quicl response!

My operative system is Windows Vista 32bit
I downloaded  this diriver: Driver Conexant HD-Audio SmartAudio 221
If you need more info tell me.

i did the restore, too, and it didn't work. that's what baffled me! imagine restoring to factory default and the audio still does not work? i must admit that i did download one of the updates and got the audio working. it was temporary because as the Windows Vista updates were being applied, at one point I lost audio again.
i did a bit more research last night and found an interesting post. it requires manually amending some files, so i'm okay to give that a try. as this has been quite the issue to troubleshoot, i will post a solution if I find it. i don't want to settle on this... don't give up!

    Hi:
I looked around and all I could find were audio drivers for Windows Vista.
If you can connect your notebook to the internet, I recommend you download and run this free tool called Device Doctor. It has helped me out lots of times.
It will scan you computer and then find the drivers from a database somewhere in cyberspace.
Hopefully it will point you to the XP audio driver. I don't recommend you update any drivers that are working but for ones that you can't find, you have nothing to lose.  Again, your notebook must be connected to the internet for this to work.

  • No audio in Windows Vista Home Basic - Compaq Presario c765TU

    Hi all,
A couple of days ago, my Compaq Presario c765TU lost audio while fastforwarding through a movie I was playing on VLC. The video was stored on an external hard drive. Tried playing music and video files stored on the laptop's local drive, still no sound.
Audio drivers and BIOS have been updated. Audio devices are listed as installed and working properly in the Device Manager.
Contemplating on doing a clean re-install of Windows Vista to see if that will work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's hard to know exactly which it is at this point.  It could be one of two things.  The speakers have failed or the jack detect pin located inside the headphone jack has failed.  A non-functional jack detection pin would cause the system to route audio to the headphone jack constantly instead of the internal speakers.
If you want to be absolutely certain it is not a software issue (corrupted registry possibly), you can try the system recovery making sure to backup your files.  I suspect this is a hardware issue, but it could very well be a corrupted registry causing the jack detection pin not to be read properly.
