Compaq Presario C751NR Battery problem

My Compaq Presario C751NR with VISTA 32-bit shuts off after 5 min. on battery power but runs all day on ac power. When I run a battery check it says no main battery detected. It's not on the recall list.

Hello,
I have a Compaq Presario CQ56-115DX Laptop. It is still under warranty. Within the last week the power of the laptop has been messed up. When I have the laptop unplugged, which I don't very often, the laptop shuts down after an hour without any warning. So I plug back in the laptop and it still shows anywhere for 40-70 percent battery left. Why is it doing this?

Hi,
First of all, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter, remove the battery, and then hold down the Power button for a full minute.
Now, plug in the AC Adapter without the battery inserted, start the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand the entry for Batteries, right click on and the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall - do not uninstall anything else here. When the uninstall is complete, shut the notebook down, unplug the AC Adapter, re-insert the battery and then start the PC on just the battery. Windows will automatically reinstall the driver - leave Windows running for a few minutes. Shut down the PC again. Now plug in the AC Adapter ( with the battery still inserted ) and start the notebook to see if this has helped the issue at all.
If the above has not helped, download and run the stand-alone battery test utility available on the page below and see if this reports any problems with your battery.

If this reports a problem with the battery ( or even if it doesn't, but the problem is still occuring ), contact HP and arrange to have the battery replaced/notebook repaired under warranty.

Compaq Presario CQ60-112LA: Problems with the wireless

1. I'm sorry for my English, It isn't so good.
2. I'm Newbie in Arch Linux but not in GNU/Linux (I'm not an expert ) and I've read the wiki and Forum Etiquette (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Forum_Etiquette).
I installed Arch Linux in my laptop, it's a Compaq Presario CQ60-112LA and It had installed Madriva Linux but I wanted to have more control on my computer and I decided to install
I followed the wiki's instructions and I could install Arch Linux correctly but I have a problem. I can connect to Internet by wireless, I haven't got wired access and I followed this instructions:

I could bring up the interface

I tried to connect manually with static ip but I couldn't. I don't know what can I do. I can't continue without Internet, because I can't update my system and I can't install Kde4 ..
I did this one:
#modprobe -r ath5k
modprobe ath_pci
But I didn't find any wireless interface, In Mandriva ath_pci works better than ath5k module, but I can't up ath_pci module..

The easiest thing to do is to spray canned air into the vents by the fan and heat sink. If a lot of dust comes out, that will probably take care of the issue. If no dust comes out, then you have other issues causing overheating and thermal shutdown. Take care not to overspin the fan blades when you blow the air into it.

Hello seinus. I understand you're trying to reinstall Windows on your computer.
Are you trying to install via a Windows installation disc?
If you're trying to perform the recovery with a disc I suggest trying the F11 method. Try these instructions to perform the F11 recovery.
If this also fails I think it is going to be a good idea to test your hard drive for problems. You can use the built in diagnostics to check the hard drive. This document has instructions. Please make sure to post the results.

Compaq Presario C571NR Audio Problem

Ok, Vista was on my laptop when I bought it. I have a Compaq Presario C571NR. Downgraded it to XP after I did all of the research for the drivers. Worked great. I now have upgraded to Windows 7, I love it. Onlyl problem is that the speakers pop when I power down my laptop and my quick launch buttons do not work. Help.

My Compaq presario CQ40 battery

I got a Compaq presario CQ40 notebook. My battery displays ....plugged in, not charging....I guess reason is that my battery has dried up....so i would like to ask that is it a safe using that battery for few days .....or it has chances to explode.......its urgent . also i would like to know the price of replacement of new battery.

If your power adapter is rated for 90Watts, then my next thought would be to try a different 12 cell battery from a different manufacturer. Most (if not all...) newer batteries have a small chip inside that relays information back to the charging circuit in your laptop. This is what "tells" your laptop charging percentage of the battery, battery status and how much to charge it. Either the new battery has a defective chip, or it's missing... At least thats what it sounds like to me.
You should have some type of guarantee from the website if battery is DOA from the start.

First try claibrating the battery, use the safe mode method on this page

Once calibration is done and you have re-charged it fully, check the Status of the battery

if this does not get any more run time you need to replace the battery.

Hi. i got a presario cq56, and the keyboard isnt working. no keys work. the caps lock light doesnt light up when you press the button. its almost as if the keyboard is dead but im pretty sure the keyboard is perfectly fine. i tried taking apart the laptop and reconnecting the keyboard but it still doesnt work. help?? please??

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your Compaq Presario CQ56 Notebook and keyboard issues. Here is a link to uninstall the keyboard. Restart the computer after uninstalling, it should reinstall automatically.

Compaq Presario CQ70 Screen Problems Advice Please

hi guys I have a Compaq Presario CQ70 and the screen keeps flickering on and off when I move the top of the laptop backwards and forwards (see photo below) has anyone seen this before as its happened on my dads laptop as well (same laptop) so got 2 of them to try and fix lol must be a fault with this model I think.

Compaq Presario c700 Battery/Adaptor

I've had my laptop for about 3 years and have only just started to use it regularly. I have noticed that the battery doesn't stay charged for long and after about 20 minutes needs re-charging. This however is difficult as the adapter gets extremely hot once it's connected to the laptop, meaning that it cant be plugged in for too long. I'm not sure whether this is an issue with the battery, the adaptor or both.

Can anyone give me the pinout of the C700 battery?
I want to measure the output from my laptop at the battery connector blades as I know that the 18V DC from the AC adapter is present at the motherboard but I am not getting any response from the power switch. I have seen in other threats that this seems to be a problem with these. I was wondering whether I could charge my battery with a bench power supply as I do not have accss to another Presario.

Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand that you are having problems with the battery. I would start with a Hard Reset just to give it a clean start. If the battery passes the hardware check there are a couple of other things to try. The Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery is basically the driver that communicates between the computer and the battery. There is a chance that it is corrupted.
Step 1. Go to Device Manager
Step 2. Select Batteries
Step 3. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there
Step 4. Click Uninstall
Step 5. At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver
Step 6. Shutdown the computer
Step 7: Remove the battery for minute and then put it back in
When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.
Step 8. Go to Device Manager
Step 9. Select Batteries
Step 10. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there
Step 11. Click "Search automatically for updated driver software"
Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller.
If that doesn't work please let me know your operating system and your product number?

Laptop battery problem?

I had a battery problem it says, consider replacing your battery. And it sucks, it already ended the warranty.
it was i think 1 year and 1 month when my battery had this problem. It charge a little bit after 30 sec to 1 min my laptop turns off. Its unusual i think my battery only last a year. is there latest battery recall on Compaq Presario batteries?

Compaq Presario CQ71-420SM booting problems

Hi,
i have problem with Compaq Presario CQ71-420SM.
Laptop wont start.
Checked power adapter (green - constant) light is on. Checked on laptop where power adapter enters laptop (white constant) light is on. Changed power adapters. Tried with and without battery inserted same result.
Removed the ram that is left one module than replaced it with second, tryed to change slots with both modules. no result.
Laptop be it on battery or without one but with power plugged in needs about 10 sec to eaven spin cooler/s and promptly shuts down - blank screen all the time.
Now ONLY when battery and power adapter is in i get white led flashes (led located lower left from touchpad - not the one near where i plug in power cord) in following durations:
- = short duration of led light
-- = normal duration of led light
--- = long duration of led light
1) -- -- -- -
2) -- -- -- --
3) -- -- -- ---
than fiew moments pause and all over again
i have read somewhere that this is most likely vga failure now can You please verify this for me or give me valid info on what can it be or what should i look for?
i have looked for error codes on fiew laptops, could not find specialy for this one but this is one of the links
