Compaq V3000

I need to replace the hard drive in the lap top because it is dead. I have spare drives but this laptop takes a strange wire connection not the normal gold tabs the sata drives have. I see on Ebay they have caddys with connectors. Are these connectors adapters so you can install normal drives? Where can I buy a drive for this laptop nobody has one for sale anywhere I can find. Exccept a couple of $3-400 for 60Gb ones. Is this laptop because of propritary hardware a paperweight?

Very hard to find one now and you can see they are more expensive and very low capacity. Given its age, my suggestion: keep it for your muesum, you can buy much better machine with a same amount of money now. For example:

Network Manager and Wireless

I have a Broadcom 1390 mini wireless on a Compaq v3000 series laptop with AMD Turion64 processor.
I have been trying to activate it for some time now. bcm43xx did not work. i compiled ndiswrapper, blacklisted bcm43xx and managed to get wireless detected. I used wifi-radar to connect, but strangely the gnome network applet and wireless network manager showed as no network though wireless was connected and working. I had enabled wlan0 in rc.conf and all details entered as per the wiki.
I removed networkmanager from rc.conf daemons and added network. Now wireless connects at boot without a hitch. No need for wifi-radar. This is after so many reboots that this occurred to me, so I thought i should share this and perhaps find out if there is something wrong in my approach. I am new to Arch (about a few months) though I have been with Ubuntu, CentOS etc for a few years now

How does one enter WEP key 10 digit hexadecimal in rc.conf etc. I tried it straight, then XXXX-XXXX-XX both as key and as enc. It did not work. Do I have to insert an "=" somewhere. I am a bit at sea. I got the wireless going thru wifi-radar. I use gnome, no KDE for me.
I would like to crack this so i have wireless at boot in my office. It was working fine with entries in rc.conf when there was no key. So it is obviously about entering the WEP key in the right format and place..

T400 LCD problem

hi guys, my t400 lcd does not included led backlight, and i feel it is terribly dim compare to other notebook such as compaq v3000 and hp dv2000, what is going on? i heard someone said t400 lcd without led backlight are good too, but my lcd seems dim even though i switch to screen brightness to the max, it is not totally dark but it looks dim, can you guys help me?

also do you have the switchable graphics card version? if so switch to intel by going to the power saving mode, and see whether the internal LCD still have this problem.
But what you are describing sounds like an issue with the LCD panel itself, you can get a new LCD for around 150 to 200 dollars on the net.

Cannot install "High Definition Audio Bus Driver"

Hello,
I have compaq V3000. I reformatted my pc and tried to reinstall all programs needed. Then I have problem with installation Audio Bus Driver.
Now my pc has no sound and not support any program related to sound.
info;
- I have installed UAA driver before the Audio bus driver
- I downloaded the driver from this website, file name : sp35682 for window XP
- I tried to update/reinstall it through "device manager" but not success, still yellow "!" mark on this driver name
- this is a detail on device property : HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_103C30B2&REV_1000\4&7D11E07&0&0001

Keyboard compatibility (alternatively key repair?)

I have this laptop HP Pavilion dv2718us .
Is this laptop compatible with this keyboard Hp Pavilion Keyboard DV2700 441317-001 Compaq V3000-
(I spilled some mineral water over the keyboard few days ago, and I didnt cleaned it properly. Keys B and N stopped working. I suppose there is no way to repair these keys?)

Bios Update Failed HP Compaq Presario V3000 Laptop

I have a HP Compaq Presario V3000 Laptop, and I tried to performed a HP Flash BIOS update, but the computer restarted during the update. After that the laptop starts but nothing happens, its a totally blank screen. I have tried removing the battery (Both the CMOS Clock batthery) aswell as the main battery, but the BIOS does not gets restored.
How can I undo the Flash BIOS update performed in my laptop, and restore it back to its orignal. Because I cannot interact with the laptop, as nothing happens. Would be appreciated, if anyone could help me on this.

I bought a MIDI-USB cable to connect a keyboard and play some music. Since the driver MPU-401 (the driver that detected it) had problems with it, i uninstalled it and I can't find it anywhere to replace it. I still can't use the keyboard, and I know that that is not the problem because I tried it out in another computer with Win 7. I have a fairly old HP Compaq Presario v3417LA with Windows XP. Please I need much help with this.

Problem With Compaq presario V3500

Currenty i have used Compaq V3500 since september 2008 ( before i bought CQ40-308TU, since i feel satisfied with HP-Compaq product). but a few days ago, my notebook suddenly crash, after (unfortunally) my guarantee has expired. After i can solve the crash, and can enter into system, my ram only detected 1GB( i have been upgraded into 2GB). i tried to check and test whetever sodimm is dead. but after i check, the reslt for my sodimm is alive. i found later, the problem is on the socket for sodimm, one socket is dead. since my guarantee is expired, i tried to service at general notebook service centre. but they also give up for this matter. they suggestion is to change the mainboard with new ones, and this will be costly enough. could anyone suggest the other option to fix this problem without replace the mainboard with the new one??or this was already general problem for V3500 user from the start?( maybe v3500 is a failure product from HP-compaq?)

With a dead memory slot your only option is a new motherboard. Yes, the whole V3000 line is a cousin to the Pavilion dv6000 line, which has not been a sterling performer to say the least.

M already consult hp service station but found that your engineering serving for hp company only not for the customer…they were not given satisfaction to the our queries…they were not properly diagnosis what are the faults??they were just say we are mediator..nothing else…. Very Very Very poor service Provider…we are a students of engg college(degree final year)…we suffer a lot from ur faulty version…not only students but also many ppl suffering about the same problem….also faculty members of college to…!!!!!!i am witness that there are many customer of urs we present ther when I ws @yr service station….facing same problem….

Presario V3000 Crashes or Sleeps from time to time

I have a laptop Compaq Presario V3000 lately it crashes or sleeps without any notices or without me doing anything. I need to finish my job and it just annoys me to wait for 10 to 15 minutes before the Power button reacts to put it back to work. It is such a huge disappointment. Anyone help me? I can not even have a live chat support for this.

IMO, a better way of dealing with that is to have a separate Logon User Account in Windows for your room mate.

How to download audio driver for compaq presario 3908TU ?

i accidently uninstall my laptop audio driver.
My Laptop is Compaq Presario V3908TU although at the right corner of the screen there is a tag saying it's Presario V3000.
Now my laptop cannot produce any sound. So i can't hear any sound using winamp, youtube , etc.
Need help.

Compaq 615 crashed. Cannot install the recovery from the partition

Hi,
I got a crash on my compaq 615. I want to restore my comp/windows by using my recovery on the partition but it didn't work.
I want to put a new windows 7 on my comp by usb/dvd but it also didn't work. During the install the windows fily copy is ready(100%) in a few seconds but the next step: windows file extracting stays on 0%. Every time i try.
When i turn the laptop off and start it again there is the following message:
1720-smart hard drive detects imminent failure (failing attr C8)
What can i do? What's the problem? Can anyone help me out?

Then you should be able to reinstall W7.

Unfortunately, you cannot upgrade the processor or graphics card on this laptop.
Here is a page from CPU-World that gives the specs for your processor:

You will see down near the bottom of the page that it is not upgradeable. Some laptops come with the processor soldered to the motherboard. Almost all laptop graphics are this way. The only way that you would be able to get a faster processor/better graphics for this laptop would be to purchase a brand new motherboard. You can do an Ebay search for 'HP G6 motherboard' to see what average prices are if you want to go this route.
