Hi,
I have a questions about Oracle 8i and 9i.. What is main difference between this Oracle version? What can I profit when I migrate to newest database version? Is migrate to 9i speed up my process in database or rather not?

9i is in extended support (almost not supported)
Beyond that, go to the documentation (http:/tahiti.oracle.com) and read the New Features manual.
Upgrading may or may not change performance. (Indeed, unless your application can take advantage of the new features, upgrading could make performance worse.)

There is no as such Date and Time Comparision FM in Standard SAP But You can define your own like this

Well, this is a recurring issue for many users...a small percentage of users but still a bug. Report the issue here to Apple: www.apple.com/feedback
iOS7.0.3 will be released next week, which as of now, I know is primarily for an iMessage but hopefully it will clear up some of these email issues some are also having.

Function module for comparing dates and times

Hi,
I have a date and time stamp in one filed for example as below:
20070125183045
(the first 8 are date in YYYYMMDD format, the next 6 is time in HHMMSS format). Now I want to compare this value to another such value in terms of date and time. First I want to compare dates and then times. Do you know any function module that can serve this purpose?

You can compare these using the function module DURATION_DETERMINE. This fuction will give you the difference, and it can be in a view different units, such as the difference in days, months, etc.
Funciton module takes in Start date and time and end date and time.

Macro to compare CSV and Excel file

Team,
Do we have any macro to compare CSV and Excel file.
1) In Excel we should have two text boxes asking the user to select the files from the path where they have Stored
2) First Text is for CSV file
3) Second Text box is for Excel file
4) We Should have Compare button that should run the Macro and Show the Differences.

Based on my understanding, we need to convert the 2 files into the same format before comparing two different formats files.
Here are the options:
1. Convert the CSV file and Excel file into 2-dim Arrays, then compare them, about how to load a CSV file into VBA array, you can search it from
internet or ask a solution in VBA forum.

2. Also you can import CSV file to Excel sheet, and then compare them.

Fields to compare FI and CO documents

Dear all,
Please, help me to look into this:
During creating a billing document (for example, in transaction VF01) attendant CO and FI documents are created.
In this case, CO documents are created with field "CO Business Transaction(COBK-VRGNG)" equal to "COIN" which meens that it is CO Through-posting from FI operation.
In that situation i need to compare FI and CO documents.
Can you please help me, what fields can i use for that?

Hi Dimitry,
sorry, my first understanding was that you wanted to compare the business transaction between FI and CO. Regarding the related documents the issue is a bit more complicated as the relationship between the FI doc and the follow on docs is stored in separate tables .
Daniels suggestion isn't bad, but I'm afraid it only works if the original document is indeed a FI doc. If the CO document stems from another application, i.e. MM or SD, then COBK-REFBN will show the document number of the original document in the relevant application (i.e. you do not have the FI doc. info in COBK). Furthemore, even if the CO document originates in FI, you only have the CO -> FI direction.
So I briefly started debugging the document environment functionality in FB03 and noticed that you can find out the tables where the document relationship is stored by setting a BP in LRWCLF01 at PERFORM rwin1_read and the debugging the loop on lt_trwpr...here all the info on the follow on documents is collected (E.g. the relationship table between FI doc and SL doc is GLIDXA).

Comparing CO and FI totals (Reconciliation)

Hello!
I need to find a way how to compare CO and FI totals for every cost element / account. Actually, totals for account may be taken from FS10N, but getting totals for cost elements is still very long process.
The only way I found is using report S_ALR_87013603 CO/FI Reconciliation, but I have some troubles with it. First, I can see data just for CO-module; FI column is empty. Second, when the table is formed, what does double-clicking on a line do? I suppose it allows seeing the detailed description for every cost element, but it still shows nothing after 2 hours after I double-clicked on it.
So, these are my questions:
1. Is there any other way of comparing totals of CO and FI other than running S_ALR_87013603 ?
2. If this report is the only way, how can I see data for FI module if it's empty in the report?
3. Is it possible to get a detailed description of costs for every cost element in this report by double-clicking on it?

There are two reports are available KE5Z and 2KEE, if u want compare the line item wise you can utilise the KE5Z or otherwise only summary for each cost element or account go for 2KEE
With the above two reports only we are comparing the FI with CO with profit center wise etc.,

Need help in using SQL in a jsp file to compare date and time

Actually I am doing a project using JSP. I need to compare a date field in the database (MS Acess) to the current system date and time. I have to do this in a select statement.
I have alredy defined a variable of type Date in the JSP file and I am comparing this variable to the date in the database through a select statemant.
Here is what I am doing
SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss");
java.util.Date today = new java.util.Date();
String myDate=sdf.format(today);
query = "SELECT Car_ID, Model_ID, Year, Ext_Color, Price from Cars where EDate <= "+myDate+" ;";
EDate is the feild in the database and it's format is (5/12/2008 5:29:47 PM) it is of type Date/Time in MS Acess.
when I execute the query it gives the following error
SQL error:java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression 'EDate <= 2008-10-16 08:10:07'.
I hope any one can help me with that error and answer my question, I've tried too many things but nothing helps

Hi,
When the comparision is needed to be done with the current date , we don't need to send in Java
Date then format it and compare with MS Acess Date.
In MS Access we have Date() function which will give you the current date.
So you can try rewriting your query as following :
query = "SELECT Car_ID, Model_ID, Year, Ext_Color, Price from Cars where EDate <= Date() ;"; ---------------------

ORA-01722: invalid number error when comparing varchar and number

Hi,
We are upgrading our databases to 10g and have issue with the below query
SELECT VALUE FROM table1 WHERE SUBSTR (VALUE, 10) = 1.
In table1, VALUE is the column name and it will have data ending with number. ex: SIGNATURE1, SIGNATURE2, SIGNATURE3, SIGNATURE4....SIGNATURE9.
As output of substr is varchar, Is comparing it with number throwing the error?
If so, the same query is working perfect in another 10g database which we migrated into.

I think its data issue. may be some data is defected where string after 10th place contains non numeric character and you are trying to compare it with 1.
My test
Case 1
Below code works fine, since all 10th place characters are digits, so can be compared with 1

Read from file, compare string and return a part

Hello, is there a reasonable good way to read text file containing information, and if string comparison is successfull, return a nother part of the string.
What i have done so far:
set file_name to (path to desktop as text) & "filename.txt"
set F to open for access tiedosto with write permission
set file_information to (read F)
close access F
(i will be moving this to Application Support/Appname/ when i figure it out).
The data in the file is in following format
12234567890Name1
98765432123Name2
92347928347Name3
What im stuck now is:
I need to compare each line the 10 numbers with search string, if match is found, the name part should be returned.
Any idea's?

You already read in the text file, so you need to put the data thru a repeat loop:
repeat with name_part in paragraphs of file_information
-- ((character 1 thru 10 of name_part) as string) is the first 10 digits of name part
if ((character 1 thru 10 of name_part) as string) is search_string then return name_part
end

How to compare New and Old long text at PO Line Item

I am Using user exit "EXIT_SAPMM06E_013". In user exit i am trying to compare the old and new values of PO maintain at item level. All this values, i am getting in X and Y structures in user exit
For long text there is no Such structures. When i am trying to fetch the details from FM Read_Text to fetch this values, Every time i am getting old values. Since new values has not yet been store to database.
Is there any way through which i can compare the old and new values of item Long text.

How to compare char and numc in select query

Hi Experts,
I am using For all entries to combine two tables.
I want to fetch the data from these tables.
The field in one table char, and in another the field is numc.
1st Query from table BDCP2 and get the tabkey value is like (2000000000000000000086200000000000000000000)
2nd query     For all entries found,
query table ESTMJ with the following parameter.
     ESTMJ-RECN = BDCP2-TABKEY+3(20)
1.TABKEY         CHAR     254
2.RECN         NUMC     20
How to compare these two ?

for two fields numc & char , please check out their Conversion routine in their respective Database table.
1st in SE11-> enter table names in different sessions. and check out the data domain used by this fields
In their respective domains of fields, click on tab 'DEFINITIONS', then check out the conversion routines in Output Characteristics of the Data Domain of field
From my point of view, both the Conversion routines should be the same.
If Conversion Routines are not there, then insert suitable Conversion routine for both the fields domain

Compare Dates and select the max date ?

I am trying to write a script and will compare the dates in " eff_startdt" and give me the lastest date at the outcome.
I have data that some service locations have more than one contract date and I need to get the latest dated conract dates to work on the data but I tried many things I am always getting errors. When I run the script below I get " missing expression" error. I dont' see anything missing.
also somehow Max() is keep giving me errors when I do something like [ ON service_locs = vmeterid WHERE SERVICE_LOCS = SERVICE_LOCS AND EFF_STARTDT = MAX(EFF_STARTDT) ]
Can someone pls give me advice on this. Thanks

For your purpose I will do it using join and subquery. Maybe it will help you resolve your problem:
SELECT COMPONENT, SUBCOMPONENT, SALE_DATE, RANK
2 FROM (SELECT T1.COMPONENT, T1.SUBCOMPONENT, T2.SALE_DATE,
3          ROW_NUMBER() OVER (PARTITION BY T1.COMPONENT, T2.SUBCOMPONENT ORDER BY T2.SALE_DATE DESC) AS ROW
4          FROM SOLD_ITEMS T1, SOLD_ITEMS T2
5          WHERE T1.COMP_ID = T2.COMP_ID)

I joined the same table but it act as two different tables inside subquery. It will group values (partition by statement) and order result descending using t2.sale_date column. As you can see columns are returned from both tables. If you would like to add some conditions, you can do it after WHERE ROW=1 code.
Results:
