Compare PDF Feature - 6 Pro onwards

Hi all,
We regularly run the Compare Feature of Adobe Acrobat 6 Professional to create a difference report of some of our documents after we make a change.
Recently, we have upgraded to Windows 7 (from XP) and Acrobat 6 no longer works (as it is a 64-bit OS)
We have tried Acrobat 7, but it still has the same problem (Cannot install the Printer Port)
We also tried 9 Pro, but the Report generated by that version is horrendous, and not very useful to us.
I trialled Adobe 11, and it has the same layout as 9, so no good for us.
Is there any Acrobat version that has the same report style as 6 Pro, but still works on Windows 7?

I was hoping to mark both as correct, but for anyone else reading this, both these responses are suitable and will allow the Adobe 6 functionality.
The marked answer was the first response, and directly answers my question. The solution will work in theory too, though I have encountered compatibility issues when using two Adobe PDF products together in the past.
The second answer though will also allow Adobe 6 to keep running (without the compatibility issues), but an additional Windows license will be required.
We could do this, though the machine that we have to set up needs to mirror our current environment for other testing purposes (apart from the Adobe PDF of course) and that requires Win 7 64-bit.

Okay - just realised that the last screen was just asking for a "title" for my question!
I have Adobe Acrobat XI standard, but would like to trial the "compare documents" feature on Pro. I tried to download a trial version of Pro, but the installer indicated that "it detected a more fully featured version of the product" - presumably my standard version? - and stopped installation. It is not clear to me what my options are for either upgrading to Pro, or selectively purchasing the "compare documents" plugin (if possible). I am using what is presumably an Enterprise version of acrobat (i.e. my employer owns it, not me) - so not sure what limitations that results in. I think this is a simple question, but would be grateful for advice.

    - You can't install Acrobat Pro alongside Acrobat Standard. You will need to remove Standard to be able to install Pro.
    - You (probably) can't upgrade your license if it's a part of an enterprise license. The entire license will need to be upgraded.
    - It's not possible to install just the "Compare Documents" function as a sort of add-on to Acrobat Standard.

    How do you compare pdfs

    Hi,
Adobe Acrobat has the feature to compare PDF files, and you can download Acrobat XI Pro Trial version (for 30 days free) from www.adobe.com or upgrade your subscription to Acrobat Plus.  Please see more information about Acrobat Plus at https://www.acrobat.com/acrobatplus/en/home.html.
    How to compare PDF files:
    1. Open your PDF file in Acrobat
    2. Select "Tools" from right pane
    3. Select "Document Processing" panel
    4. Select "Compare Documents"
    Thank you.

  • Acrobat XI combine to PDF feature is not working with Office 2013 is there a compatibility issue?

Tested with Office 2010 and it works fine
Seems to only be the combine to PDF feature that doesn't work, done updates, tried combining a variety of documents still no joy

There isn't any compatibility issue with Office 2013 and Combine should work with office 2013 same as it with 2010.
Can you please tell us some more details so that we can investigate the problem which you are facing:
    1) Please update the exact Acrobat version you are using. This you can find out via "Help -> About Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.." Version should be something like 11.0.x. If it is not 11.0.7, then please update it to 11.0.7 and try again.
    2) Is this problem you faced recently (after some update - Acrobat or OS update) or it never used to work earlier for you?
    3) You mentioned that when combining, it convert first document only. Can you please let us know how many documents you are combining and what are those formats?
    4) Also please update about you environment as well. Is you Operating System and MS Office 32bit or 64bit?
    Thanks,
    Vishal

  • Save as PDF feature creates extra frame around the tables

I am creating a large catalog with black + 1PMS color.
If I use the Save As PDF feature in Frame 9, I get an extra line around the Price portion of MOST (not all) of my tables.  If I use the Distiller process, the extra line is not there, but the PDF file does not hold the color separations.
Has anyone else come across these issues or have any ideas what I could be doing wrong?
    Thank you,

If you are trying to use the new SaveAsPDF CMYK option, forget it. It is sorely broken in many aspects (just search this forum), especially when dealing with tables and OTFPro fonts.
Go back to an RGB based workflow (i.e. ensure that the "Convert CMYK Colors to RGB" option is checked in the PDF Setup) and use a third-party tool to deal with the results. Some choices would be:
    - Acrobat 9 Pro has some even stronger pre-flighting and colour handling features now, but Acrobat 8was no slouch either
    - Enfocus' PitStopPro is extremely powerful for fixing up colours: http://www.enfocus.com/product.php?id=855
    - Grafikhuset's PubliPDF tool allows you to set up conversions for the RGB by printing to a queue and then post-processing the postscript prior to handing off to Distiller for PDF creation: http://www.grafikhuset.net/PubliPDF/
    - Quite Software's Quite a Box of Tricks let's yuou do colour conversions: http://www.quite.com/box/features.htm

  • Compare PDF functionality API

    Hi All,
Do you know how we call Adobe compare PDF utility in Java program.
I have n no of files to compare. Is there option to call Adobe compare PDF in my java program. So that I can write a looping for all files.
    Appreciate your answer...

Thanks Test Screen Name..No. I do not want in server. in my desk top. I have installed Adobe acrobat pro X in my desktop. What I want to do is i have 50 PDF to be compared with a single original PDF. I want to compare those 50 PDF without comparing one by one. I want to compare in a single time. • Compare PDFs in Batch Mode

I currently have Acrobat X Pro and I'm curious if it is possible to use a command prompt to compare 2 PDFs and have the output\report emailed or copied out somewhere for review? We're trying to automate some daily processes where compare PDFs from the prior day.  Any suggestions are welcome if Acrobat Pro X is unable to accomplish this?  Thanks!
    Michael

This happens on Acrobat 8 Pro on Windows XP too - the text only compare in side by side mode correctly traps the redline differences but highlights non-changed text in a very strange fashion.
It appears to be a bug to me as when you open the comments list and click on the highlight it appears as with a type of 'Indeterminate' and the annotation 'Matching text on page 1 of other document'. When I click on the comment I get an Acrobat error dialog box with the text:
'There was an error processing an annotation or link. There was a problem reading this document (14).'
And I can't seem to delete the comments (presumably as Acrobat is failing to read the comments).
Very irritating. Worse, Acrobat 9 (Mac) has no way to preconfigure the compare so a 2.3MB compare in v8 is now 13+MB in v9 and every table edge (in a 150pp doc) is highlighted as different. Otherwise the v9 compare appears very good for on screen in v9 except it doesn't degrade very well to v8 and there is no side-by-side redline mode I can see.
Will be running v8 for a while yet.

  • In creating a fillable PDF in XI Pro, can I insert a table which can be tabbed through?

In creating a fillable PDF in XI Pro, can I insert a table which can be tabbed through?

You're in luck. Create the first field and then right-click it (in Form Edit mode) and select Create Multiple Copies. You'll be able to specify how many copies of the fields to generate, and at what intervals. The nice thing is that although the properties of the new fields will be identical to the source one, they'll each have a unique name, so you'll get an instant "table" of fields.

  • Problem printing PDF with Acrobat Pro 9.4.4

    Hi!
I can't correctly print a PDF with Acrobat Pro that was created in Indesign CS5.
I want to print it on a letter format (8,5 X 11") and it offers me a format of 8,49 X 10,99". It results in having my document being printed as tile with it's original format 12 X 21,5" as if I didn't adjust the format to be reduced.
I temporary used Preview to print my PDF, but now I can't as the encoding in which I received the PDF used to be "Creo Normalizer JTP" and now it is "Adobe PDF Library 9.9"
    If anyone can help!
This is my first time here, thanks in advance for your help

Here's what it looks like (I work in french, hope you can understand)
I just updated my software, thanks for that!
Now, my problem is still on... I still have the very same result when I print. I did selected the correct Page Scalling I needed. I did selected the paper size I wanted. I chose Shrink to Printable Area and I tried with Fit to Printable Area.
Since I've had this problem the size appears as : 8,49 X 10,99 (Instead of 8,5 X 11). I tried with Legal (8,5 X 14) but it appears as 8,49 X 13,99. I went through the preferences, but I can't find anything that could be the problem.
    Any other idea?
    Thanks!!
Also, Preview was very helpful, as it did print my PDF correctly! I understand it's not the best... but it did the job

  • How do I remove a blank line in a pdf with  adobe pro XI?

How do I remove a blank line in a pdf with adobe pro XI?
Can I combine text blocks into one paragraph that are now given line by line?
Is there a way to add a paragraph to an existing pdf and have the remaining text flow to the next pages?

You can't, no, and no. Acrobat is not a word processor, and trying to use it as if it is will lead to enormous frustration and disappointment. Maybe you need to convert this document to Word if you want to do this sort of editing, but don't expect fancy layout to be preserved.

  • Compare pdf:s in Acrobat X

I have recently updated to Acrobat X (on Win 7 X64) from Acrobat 7 (on Win XP) and can no longer compare pdf:s as I used to do.
Comparison of pdf:s created in Word still compare as expected and generate a good report with marked differences. However, the pdf-comparison I need most is of pdf-files created from XML-files and the creation is made in Documentum. When comparing that type of pdf the compare report does not include any marks on the differences.
Anyone who has any experience of a similar problem, or better yet, anyone who has a solution to the problem?

No. Starting with Acrobat 9 it is no longer possible to open multiple PDF files in the same window.

  • When using the "Fill & Sign PDF" feature, is there a way to stretch to size the text box, for a specific area on the page...instead of it going on in one straight long line...?

When using the "Fill & Sign PDF" feature, is there a way to stretch to size the text box on a specific area of the page...instead of the text box going on in one straight long line....? I'm not seeing there's an option or ability to do so, just wanting to confirm.

Improving the handling of multiple line text fields is in our plans, but for now, you will have to add manual carriage returns (Enter).
    Thanks,

  • Is it possible to edit a pdf with Acrobat Pro XI that was created in LiveCycle?

I downloaded a trial version of LiveCycle awhile back. I created several forms. The trial period ended and I would like to change something. When I try to edit the pdf in Acrobat Pro it tells me that I must use LiveCycle to edit it. Is there a workaround for this? Thank you in advance for any replies.
    Dana

No, all LCD forms can only be edited in LCD.
And the second trial is probably not going to work, unless you install it
    on a different computer.
The best way to salvage your form, in my experience, is to print it to the
Adobe PDF printer, creating a new flat PDF file and then running the Form
Detection Wizard in Acrobat on it and continuing from there. It probably
won't do a perfect job, but it should recognize some of the fields.
