Compare View mode bug

When I use the photo comparison View mode jump back to the general grid pattern, I can not use the right skip to the next photo, he would have been in compare mode within two photos, unless you use the mouse to click on Next

it is not a double click issue, also checked the mouse, it OK too.
I think it is a bug.

Since installing LTR 5.4, which I've now upgraded to 5.6, I've encountered repeated slowness and malfunctions in operations, especially when using the Compare View function and the Tab key to open and close the right and left side panels.  Such problems never arose during two years of using LTR-4 and nothing else has changed on my computer.  I have a pretty simple system with only a few plug-ins, which are usually not in operation.  I have 12GB of RAM in my Windows 7 PC.  I could illustrate these problems with screen shots if you would tell me how to submit screen shots.  Otherwise I will try to describe the problems in words.
The problem is clearly cumulative, growing worse as usage time passes.  Compare View feature gradually slows down and eventually seems to choke as my work session proceeds. If I Exit LTR and re-enter and start all over, things will work normally for maybe 30 minutes, but then the Compare View feature begins to become very slow to respond.   In a recent example with my screen full of thumbnails in Library mode I highlighted two images to compare. LTR started to open the Compare View screen by first having the top row of thumbnails disappear to be replaced by the "SELECT" and "CANDIDATE" words in their spaces  (but no images), but Compare View never succeeded in gaining control of the screen. After some seconds the top row of thumbnails reasserted its position and the Compare View windows disappeared. But LTR kept trying to bring them back. Again the top row of thumbnails would go away, Select and candidate would reappear, try again, and give up. This went on for at least 2-3 minutes before I tried to choose File and Exit, but even that did not initially want to respond. It doesn't like to accept other commands when it's trying to open Compare View. Finally it allowed me to exit.
To experiment I created a new catalog of 1100 images.  After 30-40 minutes, the Compare View function began to operate very slowly. With left and right side panels visible and two thumbnails highlighted, hitting Compare View can take half a minute before the two mid-size  images open in their respective SELECT and CANDIDATE windows. When the side panels are open and two images are in the Select/Candidate spaces, hitting the Tab button to close the side panels produces a very delayed response--25-30 seconds to close them, a few more seconds to enlarge the two images to full size. To reverse the process (i.e., to recall the two side panels), hitting Tab would make the two sides of the screen go black for up to a minute, with no words visible. Eventually the info fields in the panels would open up.
I also created a new user account and imported a folder of 160 images. After half an hour Compare View began mis-placing data.  (I have a screen shot to show this.)  CANDIDATE appears on the left side of SELECT, whereas it should be on the right. The accompanying camera exposure data appears almost entirely to the left of the mid-screen dividing line. Although the Candidate and Select headings were transposed, the image exposure data was not, but the data for the image on the right was almost entirely to the left of the line dividing the screen in two.
Gurus in The Lightroom Forum have examined Task Manager data showing Processes running and Performance indicators and they see nothing wrong.  I could also send screen shots of this data.
At this point, the only way I can process my images is to work 30-40 minutes and then shut down everything, exit, and re-start LTR.  This is not normal.  I hope you can find the cause, and then the solution.  If you would like to see my screen shots, tell me how to submit them.

  • REQ: Add 'Fit-width' or 'Fit-visible' view mode, in which the zoom level is automatically set based on the width of the _current_ page.

Currently, the default zoom level when viewing a page of a PDF file is automatically calculated based on the width of the "widest" page of the document. This means that, if the document contains one page that is wider than the others or is in landscape orientation, then the default zoom, when viewing all the other narrower pages, is set in a way so that the page does not use the full width of the screen. This results in very poor experience, because the zoom level and the visible area of the page have to be constantly adjusted for each page. The latest update (at the time of writing) has added some extra view modes, but not the much needed 'Fit width' or 'Fit visible'.
Personally, I can find no reason valid enough to justify the lack of such a view mode. Automatically setting the zoom level based on the width of the current page so as to take advantage of the full width of the screen should be a must have feature for mobile devices, if not the default behavior. The current default behavior regarding the zoom level is pretty much useless, even on 8"/10" screens. There should be a view mode in which the full width of the screen is always used to display the document.
Examples of documents for which the Adobe Reader for Android provides a poor reading experience are:
documents which contain some of their pages in landscape orientation.
publications which, apart from the main content, also contain the full front and back cover in a single page (usually first page which is much wider than the content pages) or any other extra pages like cards or application forms (that are meant to be printed) which usually use an A4/Letter page size etc.
documents which have been cropped by external utilities or scripts so as to eliminate unneeded white margins (in some cases not all pages have the same width).
Please consider fixing the default behavior in future releases of the Reader for Android or add a 'Fit width' or 'Fit visible' view mode.
    Thank you in advance.

    Improved descriptions of example documents.

To add to this, if you prefer you can separate your JavaScript from your JSF pages.
Add a folder (I named mine 'js') to your application's ViewController project's public_html folder.
Via JDeveloper, create a new JavaScript file inside your newly created folder and place your JavaScript functions inside it.
You can then 'load' the .js file using the method Shantala described, with the addition of an added 'source' property to the af:reference tag.
(This can also be a URI reference to a JavaScript file hosted on a web server)
    <f:facet name="metaContainer">
      <af:resource source="/js/myJsFile.js" type="javascript"/>
</f:facet>The benefits of this 'split' are cleaner JSF page source and also code-highlighting and formatting within the .js file making finding and fixing bugs in your JavaScript much easier.
It appears however, that when using <af:resource> to load scripts, once the page has been submitted even once, the JavaScript is no longer available to the page. Which isn't very useful.
A solution is to use <trh:script>.
Add xmlns:trh="http://myfaces.apache.org/trinidad/html" to your <jsp:root> tag and install the library.
then in place of the above code use:
    <f:facet name="metaContainer">
      <trh:script id="script1" source="/js/myJsFile.js"/>
</f:facet>Now after a page submit the JavaScript still functions.

  • Links in PDF from View Mode Not Working

Ok, bear with me as I'm not totally familiar with Robohelp.
I have a PDF file, lets call it (PDF1).  Inside PDF1 is a flowchart with a link to another PDF (PDF2) file.
When I open PDF1 outside of RoboHelp, the link to PDF2 works.
When I open PDF1 from the view mode (sunglasses), the link to PDF2 doesn't work.  It doesn't do anything at all.  I click on the link and nothing happens.
I have ensured that the link within PDF1 is correct and pointing to the right file, and like I said, it works when viewed external of Robohelp.
Does anyone know how to fix this or what the problem could be?
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Welcome to our community
I'm not sure I fully comprehend the issue. You are previewing. This will impose some limitations and really is only there to approximate the end user experience.
You say that if you open things outside of RoboHelp the links work fine. And this is really how the end user will be using things, no? So if it works fine in this mode I'm not understanding why there is an issue.
Out of curiosity, why PDF? You are hopefully aware that one might supply PDF only for the purposes of printing, right? Otherwise, if your end user will be expecting to click links or whatever, you should be outputting a help format. (CHM, WebHelp, FlashHelp, AIR Help, etc)

  • Making custom icons with transparency, and Cover View mode

I tried making a new icon for a folder, and transparency doesn't seem to be treated the same in Leopard as it was in Tiger.
Trying to get an object to float onscreen, without a square white background, I tried pasting the following onto the folder's icon at the top of a Get Info window:
    1. one layer of a .psd file
    2. the image Saved For Web in Photoshop (as a GIF), open in Photoshop
    3. the same image saved as a .png, opened in Photoshop
    4. a Photoshop EPS with a clipping path, opened in Photoshop
    5. the GIF file opened in Preview
    6. the .png file opened in Preview
    the results:
    1. the transparency surrounding the object comes out as white
    2. a speckled, purple image with a white background
    3. the same as 2
    4. the same as 1
5 and 6: the transparency seems to work: the icon on the
Get Info window loses its white background and the icon floats correctly on the Desktop. But in Cover Flow viewing mode, it completely disappears.
What am I missing? By the way, the icons for the image files, in Cover Flow, show the white background for the .psd and .png files, but not for the .gif, where the transparency shows correctly. The .gif's icon seems to show the image with a white background in List and Icon view, but only the generic GIF icon in Column view. This all seems strange to me.

I think you probably discovered the Cover Flow Bug. See this thread and the older one referenced in it as well:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6846850
As for the rest, well, at least you can copy something with a transparency out of Preview and paste it as an icon. Preview and Photoshop seem to me to not play well together with transparencies. I've gotten some VERY strange looking things, going back and forth between them with pngs and tiffs. Don't use gifs, or eps files, but I did notice that Finder does a rotten job coping with Photoshop's alpha channel (especially weird since once upon a time it worked fine, ditto for being able to show thumbs for eps files).

  • Full Screen Mode Bug

When I go to full screen mode it won't allow me to return to another view mode. I have to restart LR to use the program. Any solutions?

On further investifgation there are more problems with the render engine on safari. This is with both running from the home screen and in the app. Safari has trouble loading iFrames, it also doesn't load the updated style sheet on the first load, you have to refresh it. Did the render engine change with the update of IOS 5? The bugs are starting to mount, anyone else experiencing trouble? I saw that one of my cohorts is haveing the same issues except for the iframe issue. This seems to be hit or miss.

  • Cycle through different "compare" views?

In LR 1.4 it was possible to use different views in the compare mode, i.e. left/right, left/right split, top/bottom, top/bottom split. There was a keyboard shortcut for cycling through the views (which I can't remember).
In LR 2.0 I can't see how to do this. Say I want to compare two images. I command-click on them and hit the C key to go into Compare mode. They appear next to each other. So far, so good. But I am not able to change the Compare view to "top/bottom" or "left/right" split.
Is this still possible? Is there still a keyboard shortcut?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    You're mixing things.
These compare options were (and still are) available in the Develop module to compare the Before and After effect. Library's Compare mode never had top/bottom split options.

  • Any way to get frame accurate in icon view mode?

Does anyone know if there is a way set frame accurate in points in icon view mode?  I know that if you are "hover scrubbing" a clip, and then click on it you can use the JKL keys to shuttle through the footage.  But is there any way to go frame-by-frame through the footage as well?
I ask because I have a 4-camera shoot where the clips were synced by a slate clap.  I'd like to make a multicam clip from the shots so am going through and setting the "clap" as the in point of each clip, and then using them as sync points for the multicam clip.  I hover scrub to the general area of the slate clap (works great) then use the JKL key to narrow in "clap" even more (also works great).  However, it is nearly impossible to stop exactly on the frame where the slate hits using the JKL keys.  So I would like to get in the general vicinity using JKL, and then use some other keys or method to get to the exact frame of the "clap".  One would assume that the arrow keys would do this, but they don't.
Does anyone know if there is a way to accomplish this?  Thanks in advance for any help.

I understand your point, and it never ocurred to me that I part of my normal workflow when doing things like that to more than a few clips is to select all of the clips and put them all in the Source Monitor with a single command. (Select them all, right click, and select "Open in Source Monitor".) So I don't go back and forth between windows. I guess I have been doing it so long I missed that step in the explanation. Sorry about that. Also, please understand that I skipped CS4 and CS5 so when I started using CS6 I have never really been comfortable with the hover scrub for anything serious. Not yet anyway.
I figure that all of the clips will end up in the Source Monitor anyway before they hit the timeline, so why not put them up there and as I finish with each one I close that window and start on the next one.
Those of us who go back to when Premiere became Premiere Pro have been waiting for some of these features a very long time. Slap-your-head it might be to you or me, but Adobe only has so much money to pay engineers and there is always something more important to work on. Like becoming codec agnostic or handling huge frame sizes. Adobe has borrowed many features from FCP, but it is still a work in progress. We just submit feature requests and attempt to convince others to do the same. You can't imagine how much time we spent a decade ago getting people to create the proper sequence. Now you just drag a clip to the New Item button and your sequence is perfect. That is magic to someone like me, who taught people how to use Premiere Pro 1.5 by copying FCP tutorials and recreating them in Premiere Pro (for Lynda.com) using the same footage.
Jim Simon is often quite vocal about things he would rather see done that some of the requests. I agree with him most of the time, but every now and then a little thing I think should be done is not on his list and he will let me know in no uncertain terms why he thinks what he thinks. He can be pretty persuasive and it is difficult to argue with his logic. The Adobe folks read these forums, yes, but they read the feature requests and look to see how many customers want certain things done. Not a bad way to prioritize. Now that more FCP people will be submitting requests, there is a good chance that you will see more features that you want.
So, while it may be obvious to you, it isn't obvious to Adobe until the masses speak. I suggest that you might want to consider being a rabble rouser, getting like minded people to put in the same requests. That is probably the best way to get what you want.
As for going in reverse.... I think that if you have never had some of these things, they are not important to you. They are not all like adding reverse. Some are but some of these are like the tailfin on the 1959 Caddilac. The higher the better back then. But are they necessary?

  • View Modes - Day-Week-Month

Does anyone know of any way to add a quarterly view mode? (in otehr words being able to see 90 days at a time as an added view option - Day/Week/Month/Quarter)
If not, are there any third party workarounds that can modify and provide a 90 day view mode in iCal?
At the very least is there any EFFECTIVE way to communicate and get this easy enhancement added to the upcoming version of iCal.
It is incredibly inconvenient to have to move calendar items to the following month with the restrictive view of only one month. IN other words, if I wanted to move an appointment from February 24 to say March 20 I am forced to manually open the item and type in new dates.
A great system program known as DateBook Pro 4.0 had such a view option and I absolutely miss it EVERY day!

I am experiencing the same symptoms - Day, Week, Month and the Today button are all grayed out. It particularly seems to happen if I've left iCal running overnight. The only way I've found to fix it is to re-start iCal. When this is happening, the only way to navigate to a different week (or month) is to use the menu "Go to date" function. I think the onset of this problem relates to an Apple software upgrade , but I can't be sure which one.

  • Mouse no longer scrolls photos in 2 view modes

In A2, if I hovered the mouse over the strip and used the wheel (Revolution MX) it would scroll the thumbnails. If I hovered it over the selected, large photo I could scroll through one-by-one. Same in Viewer mode-scrolling up or down went to the next or previous photo. Now it only works in Browser mode or in the strip in Split View. This has ruined my whole workflow of rating with my left hand while scrolling with the mouse in the right.
I've checked the settings I know, such as Primary on or off, with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, it looks like scrolling has been changed as you describe.
Dont forget that the arrows and numeric pad (if you have a full size keyboard) work very well. I find rating to be a one handed job using a thumb on the right arrow and a finger for the rating value. Its fast after a bit of practice.

  • Canon 6D will not focus or flash in "Live View" mode.

My Canon 6D will not focus or flash in "Live View" mode.  I have a canon 430ex II  and a E-ttl flash connected with a sync cord for E-ttl function.  The camera does simulate shutter action, but no photo is taken.  How can I over-come this problem.

    Hi Shadowcat!
    Thanks for posting.
It sounds like the AF Method is set to Quick Mode.  When the camera is set for Live View Shooting, there are different AF Methods that can be set.  In Quick Mode, the camera uses its dedicated AF sensor to focus when you press the shutter button down halfway.
The image on the LCD will be interrupted while the camera tries to focus because the shutter closes and the mirror drops back over the image sensor.  This may look as though the camera is taking a picture, but it is not, it is only focusing.  No flash is fired during this process either.  Continue to hold the shutter button halfway until focus is achieved, at which point the image will return to the LCD.  Then you can press the shutter button the rest of the way down to take the picture.  The flash will fire and an image will be recorded.

  • Remote Panels not working in embedded viewing mode

    Hello,
I'm trying to develop a web version of my project using Labview remote panels. I configured the web server properties as it's described here: http://www.ni.com/white-paper/4791/en/
Currently I'm trying to create the web page on the web publishing tool. However when I select the Embedded viewing mode option I get an "Requested VI is not loaded into memory on the server computer" error on the web page that is created. But if I select Snapshot or Monitor viewing mode option the page is loaded without problems.
I'm using Labview 2013 and oppening the web page in google chrome. The VI from which I'm trying  to create a remote panel has some subVIs that show the front panel when called. Is there anything I'm forgetting to configure, or do I need to have any plugins instaled on my browser?

There you go, good solution. When doing this remember that you have access to the database on the server. A structure I have found effective is to use the server DB like a dropbox that I write to, and the web server reads from.

  • Adding a link to another page in View Mode using Destination URI

    Hi All,
I have the Search items page in iProcurement, and the Supplier Name is a text field in the search results region. Now I want to display the Supplier Name as a link, clicking on which the user should be taken to the corresponding Supplier details page in View Mode.
Is this something that can be done through personalisation, as in without extending the controller etc. I tried by giving the url of the supplier page in the Destination URI of Supplier Name, and it navigates to the supplier page, but how do I implement the functionality of querying the details of the Supplier in context. That is, what is the url that needs to be used, and what are the parameters that need to be passed etc? What is the approach to implement such a functionality. I have done OAF development, but havent done any personalisation.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I have a custom inventory report where I have a header region with the From Date and To Date column. The user enters these two dates and the data is displayed in the Table region between these two dates. Then in the item column I have a URL link which takes us to the Detail page. I need to pass the item number and the From Date and To Date in that link so the where clause can be set for the detail query. The attribute value for the item passes fine but I do not know how to pass the value for the dates. My URL looks like as below. I have tried different ways as mentioned in metalink or google search but no luck. Tried to capture the value also and it shows as the value as ‘$FromDate’.
    OA.jsp?page=/xxbn/oracle/apps/xxbn/consignment/webui/ConsSaleDetailPG&ItemNumber={@ItemNumber}&FromDate=$FromDate&ToDate=$ToDate&retainAM=Y&addBreadCrumb=Y
I would appreciate if I can get some light on this.
    Thanks in advance.
