Can any one plz tell me how to compare 2 images and check if they are equal. and how to clip a images into several parts... like eyes nose etc...

Please help, cannot compare images in full screen mode

I am not able to compare 2 images in full screen mode. I am using a MBP and a ACD 23". The main image will remain in the ACD while the image being compare is being shown in the MBP.
I am able to compare images in the viewer mode.
My main display is the ACD 23 which I selected using the display preferences under 'Arrangement' with the menu bar located on the ACD. In Aperture, Secondary Viewer is set to Blank.
I had also tried different combinations of Main Viewer and Secondary Viewer settings but was not successful.
Am I missing something? Anyone have the solution?Thanks in advance for any help.

Anyone have any suggestions to using Aperture to edit images using a MBP and ACD so that it best utilize Aperture full screen mode in comparing and narrowing down to the pick.
I am now trying to use the MBP as the main display and ACD as the secondary. This way I am able to compare images with the MBP in the Browser mode and the ACD display the compare images full screen. It work with the secondary display - ACD set to mirror, span and alternate mode.
It would be best if only one screen is use and hence save energy consumption (reducing global warming and bill, if it help).
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or and solutions.

Comparing images from different cameras

I recently tried to compare images taken with a Nikon D300 (12.3 mgapixel-small sensor), D800 (36 megapixels-large sesnsor) and D4 (16.1 megapixels - large sensor) using the LR4.1 Compare function with not very satisfactory results (iMac 27, Lion). I took 4 images each of the same subject with a 60mm f2.8 Nikon lens on a tripod at F8, at 200,400,800 and 1600 ISO and imported the images into LR. Selecting images of the same ISO and using the Compare function, they all looked pretty much the same so I viewed them at 1:1 and 2:1 trying to get a closer look at the fine details to check for sharpness and noise. Regardless of how I cropped the images, I couldn't get any of them from the different cameras to be the same size on the screen in the closeup views. I presume the combination of sensor size and megapixel capture on the sensors caused this problem but I don't have the technical expertise to either understand (or care). Is there a way in LR to overcome these differences? If so, how? Thanks for any help.

Obviously, Lightroom was not designed to handle this specialized situation. This comparison would be a piece of cake in Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements or most any other true editor), but I cannot think of a way to make this happen in Lightroom.

2.2.1 can't set "compare" image??

Since the update, I can no longer set the "compare" image, which is normally set by selecting an image and then hitting return. Even in the drop down menu's, it is grayed out?
A friend of mine has the same issue, with a Mac Pro.
I have a 20" iMac. Anybody else with this issue??

Ich habe in den Voreinstellungen angegeben, dass man Fotos auf über 100% skalieren darf. Das funktioniert aber nicht. Fotos werden immer nur im Fenster eingepasst, wenn der Zoomhebel ganz nach rechts steht.
Einzig in der Vollbildansicht kann man über 100% skalieren. Dies funktioniert aber auch, wenn ich die Voreinstellung dazu nicht gesetzt habe.
ie vergleiche ich mehrere Bilder? Im Handbuch steht beschrieben, dass man dazu aus dem Menü Ansicht -> Bilder Vergleichen wählen soll. Diesen Menüpunkt gibt es bei mir nicht.

Hi there. I switched from Apple Aperture to PSE 12. Now I have my 11500 photos in the Organizer and a few teething problems.
I have specified in the preferences that you can resize photos to over 100%. This does not work. Photos are always fitted only in the window when the zoom lever is all the way to the right.
Only in the full-screen view you can scale over 100%. However, this also works if I have not set the setting in the preferences.
How do I compare multiple images? The manual describes to select from the View menu -> Compare images. This menu item does not exist for me. (German Version)
Also by pressing F12, nothing happens. Can I re-assign the button functions somewhere?
Last but not least: How can I use the zoom & pinch from the Magic Trackpad? I 'm missing that very much. Aperture was very user friendly with that.

You cannot zoom in on an more that fitting the screen space will looking at images in the Organizer's image well. This size may be much smaller than 100%.
There is no preference to "resize photos to over 100%".
There is also not a Compare option in the View menu.
To do either of these options (from the Organizer) you have to be in the Full Screen mode. From here, you can use the mouse wheel (or trackpad) to zoom up to 1600%. You can also compare images by selecting the Side-by-Side or Top/Bottom display from the "View" Options button on the Full Screen options bar.
To use the F-keys, you have to add the Command key, so Command+F12 will open the Full Screen Mode in side-by-side compare view.
If you purchased Photoshop Elements as a replacement for Aperture, there are a lot of differences that you will have to adjust to. Photoshop Elements and Aperture are hardly complementary applications. If you were looking for something like Aperture, you should try Lightroom instead.

I've ment side by side view. And it works by pressing F12 + cmd. Thanks.
Zoom & Pinch only works in the Editor, but not very well or smooth. And I couldn't tell you how often the Editior rotate my images unwanted ...
In the preferences of the Organizer, there is no point for a scroll wheel. And I'm really not able to zoom in the organizer over the "fitts in screen" size.
And I've found some more problems Sometime I'd like to export my images without any Exif/Metadata Information and resized. I haven't found any point do do so.
At the Moment, I'm thinking about switching back to Aperture, where I came from - I've tried to use PSE 'cause of Adobes Raw Converter, which is much much better with Olympus RAW Files than Apertures.

How do I compare images in CC

I am using Photoshop Creative Cloud - I have 4 images loaded into photoshop. How do I display all 4 images at one time so I can compare them.

I am going to assume Windows - I don't know if it works the same on the Mac (Information about the OS would be useful).
By default when you open a file in Photoshop it is "Docked" to the main window. If you have 4 files open you will have them all "docked" to the top of the window as tabs (IE you can click on the name of each individual photo and that becomes the focus and gets displayed). What you need to do when you click on the name of the photo in the tab in Photoshop is to drag it down slightly and it will become un-docked and will display in its own floating window. Do this for all of your photos and then resize and move the windows around and you will be able to compare the photos.

How can I comparing image at a specific display size?

I want to compare two images with their pixel values.But actually images are around 600MB size.
Is it possible to check images with some temporary width,height like 100*100 or etc.

As you ask the question right now, you are talking about scaling down the images to 100*100 which would be "not a good idea" - I assume that's not what is on your mind at all.
Are you perhaps thinking about comparing the images not as a whole in one go, but in stead cutting them up on smaller pieces of 100*100 pixels and comparing those?

Compare image retrieved with client_image (webutil) to images (blob) in tab

I have the following situation:
webform loading client images into a table (using client_image package from webutil)
I want to check if this image has already been loaded or not.
If not loaded ok else reject with raise_application_error on the table's trigger.
with a before insert trigger I inserted the :new.image into a temp table. but when reading and comparing I saw that the length of the image is still 0.
Is there a way to pass the image (actual size completely) in webforms to a procedure? Because when testing this ( asigning the image field to a blob variable) I got the same result length 0?
Ho can I get around this problem?

Hello,
The Image Item is probably the most "vague" of all. You cannot have its size and you cannot get/set its content outside the read_image_file() built-in. It is a complete "black box".

Comparer image Webcam avec image Pré-enregistrer

Bonjour, je suis en terminale STi2D SIN, et j'ai comme projet de surveiller une maquette d'amhithéâtre à l'aide d'une webcam. Je dois utiliser le logiciel LabVIEW.
Je voudrais comparer l'image de la webcam (position fixe) avec une même image enregistrer sur mon pc, et ainsi si l'image de la caméra est différente de l'image enregistrer activer une alarme ou une led rouge... Mais je n'ai reussi pour l'instant qu'à créer un VI pour récupérer l'image de la webcam.

Etant donné que tu arrives a récupérer l'image de la webcam c'est que tu dois bien avoir le module Vision d'installer.
Depuis le diagramme de ton VI, tu trouveras des fonctions permettant de soustraire ou d'ajouter 2 images. Il faut que tu enregistre ton image de référence dans un fichier et que tu le charge dans LabVIEW pour la comparer à ton image en cours.
Par contre, l'utilisation d'une simple soustraction, entre les deux images ne devrait pas être suffisante pour déterminer si l'image est réellement différente de l'image de référence. EN effet, entre le bruit du capteur de la webcam, les mouvements de la webcam, les réglages de l'image... aucune image ne sera strivctement identique.
Ce que je te conseil, c'est de travailler sur des images en nuances de gris, pour faire une telle détection, la couleur n'a pas beaucoup d'importance et les traitements sont plus simples. De la même facon, il vaut mieux désactiver les corrections automatiques de la webcam comme l'ajustement automatique de la luminosité (normalement faisable depuis les utilitaires de configuration des webcams). S'il corrige tout le temps, les traitements varieront trop d'une fois à l'autre.
Ensuite, tu dois avoir dans la palette de fonctions LabVIEW ou depuis le menu démarrer, l'asssitant NI Vision, il te permet d'utiliser plus facilement les fonctions Vision avec un rendu direct à partir d'images enregistrées. Ca aide bien pour l'utilisation des fonctions et après on peut générer automatiquement le code ou utiliser le VI Express tant que tu es en mise au point de ton application et que tu ne cherches pas le maximum de performances.
Dernier point, ne pas oublier que ce que vois une caméra et très différent de ce que vois l'oeil humain et que pour les traitements c'est pareiL;

finaly i have thought a approach just tell me that how efficient it will be,
Say We Have To images,among which first is a base image and the other image is an image to which we are comparing our base image.
1.first of all i am gointg to obtain Red,green,blue And alpha values for both image using getRGB() function and then store those values in integer arrays.
2.after doing this i am going to buil a compar() function,in which
say,r1 is the array of red values for all pixels in image1(baseimage) and r2 is the array of red values for all pixels in image2.
so what i m going to do in compare() function is substract each values of r1 from each values of r2,(r1-r2).
and assign a percentage based on the difference (r1-r2).and do the same for green values and blue values.so is it ok or not?

A good resource for you to check out will be our packaged examples that are shipped with LabVIEW and the Vision Development Module. In order to get your USB camera to interface with LabVIEW you’ll need our Vision Development Module that includes the IMAQdx driver which interfaces with USB camera. If you already have VDM, look at the examples in the NI Example finder. In LabVIEW, go to Help>>Find Examples and then Browse to Hardware Input and Output>>IMAQdx to find basic examples. Comparing images using vector

Sir and Maam! I just want to ask something.
my project is all about face recognition. i got the ideas from here how to make it. well i am on the last part of it now.
well what i do is this based on my research on forums.
1. RGB to YUV
2. get the location of the face
3. grayscaled
4. cut the location of the face.
5. and i discrete cosine transform the cut off image.
so i am on the final part. they say that it is easy to know if the face are the same using vector. but i cant get it.
can you guys see if the operation is correct.
i will attatch the image of my vi for subtracting the two vectors.

I am having trouble following along with what you are trying to ask. Also, keep in mind I am not aware of what research you have done on the forums or what sources you have been referring to.
With that let me start by asking, when you say you are at the final part, would that be the 6th step? If yes, am I to understand correctly that you have already recognized the face, cut it out, and preformed a discrete cosine transform of the cut out?
I have looked at the image you attached for subtracting the two vectors, and assume that this is the last step you are referring to. Please provide more information on what it is you are trying to do for this final step as I cannot say if the operation is correct if I do not understand what it is you are trying to do, and I do not want to assume.

How do I view multiple images in one window?

How do I view multiple images in one window? I want to compare images side by side, not in tabs.

Thank you, Barbara. I found that I had to close the program after I turned on "allow floating documents" and restart, before I was able to go to "float all in windows".

How to "loupe" thru images?

I've used LR for a while now, and my basic workflow has always been:
1. Import images from my SD card into LR
2. Review the imported images in LR using the Loupe view and the right (and left) arrow keys
For some reason this does not work anymore. Here is what I am experiencing:
1. Show images in the Grid view with no thumbnails selected.
2. View one image in the Loupe view. Does not seem to matter whether I double-click a thumbnail or single click then press the E key.
3. The right arrow key show either the next thumbnail, or the 1st thumbnail on the grid (see to be random which thumbnail is chosen)
4. Subsequent left or right arrow keys toggle the view between the two image noted above.
5. Switch back to the grid view shows the two image noted above selected.
I've combed the preference settings an I do not see anything for "auto select" or "auto next". I know the LR has not always behaved this way, so I assume I've done somthing to put it into this "mode". THe other possibility is that I now have 20K+ images in my catalog. Is this too many?
I've found a work-around to this "situation" by selecting all of the thumbnails in the grid that I want to see before I enter the Loupe view, but I know I have done this in the past. Could it be that a LR update changed the way the LR works?

Thanks for your post gatorjim. I'm running LR 3.3 on Windows 7. I have no keyboard macros defined, and the keys do the normal thing on the grid view and in other programs.
OMG - I just fixed it. I was probing on how to reset my preferences, and I happened to look at the menu option Window / Secondary Display. I have a 2nd display that I rarely turn on, but my LR setting was Window / Secondary Display / Show and Compare (probably because I had inadvertently hit the key combination to activate it, although I was not aware of that because I rarely turn on the second display). When that's set, LR behaves as documented in my original post. Once I set Secondary Display to "Loupe- Normal", now the primary display behaves as expected: I can sequence thru images in the Loupe view using the arrow keys, and I experience no "auto selection".
I'm sure all this makes sense if you use a secondard display to compare images, but it sure threw me for a loupe (groan... I could not resist).
