Comparision Of Jdeveloper & Forms 6i

Hi Everyone,
i urgently need performance related information with respect to web deployability of Jdeveloper & Forms 6i (Both advantages & Disadvantages)
What is Jdeveloper - can it have Oracle as backend?
Our prime requirement is web deployability of the Forms.

Each of these tools has a different purpose, which tool to use entirely depends on what you requirements are. I'm pretty sure JDeveloper's the only tool on the list that supports Java development though.
Take Care,
Rob

  • Registeration of Jdeveloper Forms in Oracle ERP

Can we register Jdeveloper Forms in Oracle ERP 11.5.10.2 like Developoer forms.

Ya, just try for jspx files, in case u can't u would need a wrapper jsp which can handle all jspx files. In this jsp redirect to appropriate jspx, based on some url parameter hard-coded in ur different apps functions .

  • E-Mail from a JDeveloper form

I looked but didn't see this having been asked already here.
Perhaps someone has an idea how to solve this. I need to send
multiple SMS messages via FTP to employees mobile phones. My
form will have a list of mobile phone numbers that a standard
message needs to be sent to. I want to use the service offered
    by a local cellular provider
    (http://www.mobiledata.co.za/content/products_ftpsmshowitworks.ht
ml) to send messages to our people who need to be told when to
arrive at their goods collection points.

Very good question! If it can be done in Java, you can do it in
    JDeveloper ;-)
Java actually has excellent support for networking, so you may
want to check out the java.net package of the JDK. If this is
supported you will be able to create such a form easily in
    JDeveloper.
    Thanks!

  • Previously stable custom OAF form intermittently errors out

    Gurus,
A JDeveloper form that I developed for 11i a couple of years back which has been stable up until recently is now sporadically erroring out.  The form seems to work if several attempts are made to apply the back button on the browser.  The error message is as follows:
    Error: Cannot Display Page
(Because one of the following occured)
      1. Your login session has expired.
      2. A system failure has occured.
Then it suggest using the page's navigational links instead
of the browsers Back and Forward control.
It's strange that the error is just now appearing and only appears in our UAT environment.  Our Dev and Prod environments appear fine.
    Has anyone seen this before?
We're using 11i Applications on a Linux forms server with a 10g database.
Thanks in advance for you help.

Thanks for the responses. There was a problem with the file system (on the unix server) which was causing the cache to fail. I took the cache statements out of the project settings and could run it but the DBAs have since fixed the file problem so I have now put the cache statements back. The other form (that worked) is much smaller so I guess it did not make as much use of the cache.

  • Jdeveloper 10.1.3.4 doesn't start

    Hello,
When I start Jdeveloper 10.1.3.4 after consuming about 42 Mb Jdeveloper stops loading.
When I click on the splash screen the application crashes and disappears in the Taskmanager
Jdeveloper 10.1.3.3 works fine, no problems at all.
Is there someone who has a solution for this?
It runs on Windows XP Sp2
    Thanks in advance.
    Jan.

    Hi Frank,
    Sorry for the late respond.
I start jDeveloper form the command line but nothing happends.
After enter the next line is empty and de start window of jDeveloper pops-up.
After a while 42 Mb of memory consuming it stops.
When I click on the start window the window disappears and the process kills in the task manager.

  • Expected date for Jdeveloper 11g production version

i am planning to start development with jdeveloper (Forms 6i background). but with latest version.
If you can help me out of dates of jdeveloper 11g production release.
it will save my troubleshooting time.
Also help me out some starting point to be successful projects using jdeveloper.
    In forms successful,
    It is so simple.
    1. create table.
    2. use forms wizard (block and layout).
    3. make layout change as per your need.
    4. add buttons and validation.
    5. done.
    But in Jdeveloper.
What is the best practice. ??
    thanks in advance.

    Hi,
there will be a technology preview 3 out shortly to christmas. There exist no concrete release date of JDeveloper 11 production.
Start at otn.oracle.com/products/jdev and check some of the tutorials (OBE). Note that for you to learn building JSF web applications, I suggest to use the 10.1.3 tutorials and how-tos.

  • Creating Custom Toolbar for JDeveloper

my client needs a custom toolbar , they dont want the navigation
bar, on the jdeveloper forms with enter query, insert, delete,
soon, if any buddy can help me on working out this, that will be
    great, atleat some idea.
    Thanks.

You should be able to create a custom toolbar without too much
trouble. Building the UI is very simple. Take a look at the
source code of the provided toolbar for ideas on how to add
functionality to your custom toolbar ([JDEV_HOME]
    \src\dacf_src.zip -- NavigationBar.java).

  • Excel sheet in jdeveloper

    Dear forums
i am a user of jdevloper
    and working on Jclient\swing.
i want to connect an excel sheet to my Jdeveloper form and after that the values are in excel sheet stored into oracle by using jdeveloper.
but i have no idea about it.
    thanks

If the excel spreadsheet is on the database server then you can create an oracle table that is actaully mapped directly to the excel file (I'm assuming you can save the excel file as a csv file)
    create table xxxxx
    ( column1 datatype,
    etc
    organization external
    (type oracle_loader
    default directory your_data_dir
    access parameters
    (fields terminated by ',')
    location ('your_file.csv')
Then you create your usual entity and view objects on this.

ADF BC is running in my mind
Can anyone tell what do they look like??
are they different from any of the components which we develop such a EJB or any JSF components??

ADF Business Components is enhanced in 11g, but it is production now in JDeveloper/ADF 10.1.3.

  • A suggestion to start up....

    Hi everybody,
I'm rather confused on how to start up using JDeveloper..???? I have the following doubts:
    1) to learn 'Java' at a point 5 , for example in a 10-grade scale...before using JDeveloper????
    2) to begin with JDeveloper and which type of application...????
    3) both of them , simultaneously...????
    Remarks:
I have no an exact project.... just i want to learn some basics and even more later on.....
I have experience in PL/SQL and Oracle Forms/Reports as well among others.....
Thanks, a lot for your interest...
    Simon

First you might want to learn some of the basics of the Java language to understand about objects and the Java syntax. Any introduction to Java book will do here.
This is a good free online book:
    http://www.mindview.net/Books/TIJ/
You can use JDeveloper to practice your coding at this stage.
Once you get the basics of the language down - try out the Oracle ADF tutorial and book for 4gl developer, these will show you how to build a full blown application very quickly and with a minimal amount of Java coding.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/adf/learnadf.html
You can also buy the new JDeveloper for Forms book (sample chapter here
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/books/pdfs/jdeveloper-forms-ch6.pdf )

  • Reports Builder won't begin

We have installed 9i and the Developer Suite. All elements of the Developer Suite run fine such as JDeveloper, Forms, etc. However, Reports Builder will not run.
We get a message from the XP Professional operating system stating, "Reports Builder has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." It invites you to send a report or not.
Is there some configuration element out of place?

Darn, I was hoping to find an answer here.
My problem is almost the same, I am not getting an error though, my Reports won't go past the splash screen, the process keeps running though....
I installed 10g instead of 9i, and I have no REPORTS_CLASSPATH environment variable to remove, so what could be my problem?
