Comparison haswell air 13 i5 vs mbp retina i5 the same ssd

Hi, everyone!
Where can i find comparison haswell air 13 i5 vs mbp retina i5 the same ssd?
Or at least air 2012 vs pro retina but equal characteristics (found many, but there are 8 gb ram vs 4 gb and i5 vs i7, which is b****t).
Thanks

I don't really know, yet. Maybe check with the folks at GeekBench in a couple of weeks?

You should also ask this in the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air forums. This is the forum for the 13” white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

We just got 2 iPad air today and Set up both with the same Apple ID, now I'm getting FaceTime and messages for my 12 yr. old.  Do I have to set up a separate Apple ID  for her to avoid this?

It's a trust issue. You can set them up so you don't receive each other's messages as long as you each have your own email address.
The trust issue is the fact that either of you can change the separation at any time via Settings by checking the appropriate (inappropriate?) email address.
To be absolutely sure you can never receive each other's messages will require two Apple IDs.

  • I just ordered a macbook air today and need to know if the 128gb SSD is enough space. I presently have a macbook pro and am using only 30gb hard drive space so, the apple rep said 128 is enough as I do not load much pictures or gaming etc. Also is i5 ok.

Id choose the I5 yes, depends on what your usage is going to be,
....your question about "128 gig being enough" begs the question for IDEALIZED USE of your macbook AIr
In the case of a Macbook Air with ‘limited’ storage on the SSD, this distinction becomes more important in that in an ever rapidly increasing file-size world, you keep vital large media files, pics, video, PDF collections, music off your SSD and archived on external storage, for sake of the necessary room for your system to have free space to operate, store future applications and general workspace.  You should never be put in the position of considering “deleting things” on your macbook SSD in order to ‘make space’.
*Generally, unless you NEED the data at least once every few weeks or once a month,...it really does'nt NEED to be on the SSD of your Macbook Air.
Professionals who create and import very large amounts of data have almost no change in the available space on their computers internal HD because they are constantly archiving data to arrays of external or networked HD.
Or in the case of the consumer this means you keep folders for large imported or created data and you ritually offload and archive this data for safekeeping, not only to safeguard the data in case your macbook has a HD crash, or gets stolen, but importantly in keeping the ‘breathing room’ open for your computer to operate, expand, create files, add applications, for your APPS to create temp files, and for general operation.
Ive got more APPS than any human should have on my 128gig AIR,..(50 or so),....and 10gig of working data, important files etc etc.
Still have 82gig available....... the entire point is that someone shouldnt consider the Air a "storage device" for tons of pics, music, vids, etc.
*Never consider any computer a data storage device at any time under any circumstance, rather a data creation, sending, and manipulation device. Anyone who thinks data is safe on any computer, even copied upon multiple partitions is making a mistake that will, without fail, strike.
For needs of packing around a LOT of "big data" with your Air in its case..., get a nice 1TB HD for $70, or even a 2TB drive not much bigger.

  • Air simulator bug on MBP retina

    hello,
when I try to debug my actionscript project on my MBP retina, the adl simulator window size is too big and I can not see the whole window.
    like this:
    OS X 10.9, MBP retina 15'
    Flashbuilder 4.7
    AIR SDK 3.9.0 build 1210
    simulator target iphone 4
is there anyone has the same bug ?

I believe this is the expected behavior on the native stage. Even when running on a retina device with requestedDisplayResolution set to high, the native stage uses the same coordinate system as the non-retina version, and stageWidth and stageHeight are reported with the same units, as mentioned in the docs for contentsScaleFactor:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/display/Stage.htm l#contentsScaleFactor
You could query the value of contentsScaleFactor to know if running in retina mode or not.
The native stage coordinates stay the same, but if you are using Stage3D in your app, the higher res back buffer is created with another additonal argument to configureBackBuffer():
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/display3D/Context 3D.html#configureBackBuffer%28%29
and in this case the raw pixel dimensions would be double in size.

Help!! I'm using a Mid 2012 MBP retina 2.3Ghz i7 with 8GB of ram 256SSD. for the past 2 years my write speeds has been consistently on 400MB/s and up via black magic test. but now it only have 100MB/s going down to 80MB/s. what should I do???? I have already cleaned and even restored my MBP still it's on 100MB/s. please help. I have to finish tasks on a timely manner.

No. This requires completely repartitioning the SSD. You can do that only by using the Network Recovery method or the method I outlined. My method preserves all your data and doesn't require doing a slow Network Recovery. But if you wish to do that instead. The purpose of the whole exercise is to "clean" the SSD of garbage collected during use that tends to cause the SSD to slow down as you've described.
Install OS X Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button. Set Zero Data - one-pass, click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.

  • How can I use my IPAD to stream Musik to two Air Port Clients in a network at the same time?

I want to stream my musik via I PAD to more than one Air Port Clients at the same time. Via MAC it is possible to select "more speaker". In the I PAD I can only select Station 1 or Station 2.

I opened Airport Utility today and it appears to have been simplified to the point where you can't do much with it these days.
Yes, welcome to the Fisher Price toy box utility.. where nothing in the way of advanced usage is offered.
Is there a way to accomplish what I want to do that is reasonably simple?
You can put time controls onto the offending addresses.
But if the hackers know anything at all they know how to access the MAC address of the computer and change it.. so the effectiveness of this is limited.
Change the current setup and password.. You must use WPA2 Personal and I recommend you use a pure alphanumeric password, mix case and numbers of 20 characters or more for your situation.. do not give that password to anyone.. protect the admin password of the TC itself equally well but with a different password. And protect the physical access to the TC from anyone in your home.. because the fact is all security on the TC is an illusion if the TC has open access.
See how to find passwords here.
i forgot my password for my router, how can I change them.
So anyone can discover your passwords without your knowledge and leave no trace on your system.
If you make no progress.. I suggest replacement of the TC as the main router of your network.. you need something with controls.. and even better controls that allow you to block people.
The favourite one now is older Netgear WNDR3800 . .you might need to buy from ebay although a few new ones are still around.. alternatively the WNDRMACv2 is simply the same hardware in a white box.. instead of black.
Load gargoyle firmware onto it.. sorry if I even point to where you can find this info my post will be deleted.. I can say it.. just cannot help further.. so use google.. there are lots of posts and let me assure you this get combo.
You can continue to use TC at what it does best.. a dumb wireless AP and location for TM backups.

  • C2D MBP's using the same RAM as the CD MBP's?

I'm going to get a MBP on Saturday and wanted to know if I can put in an additional 1GB RAM stick that would have gone in a CD.
    TIA

Nope. I just brought my C2D home and it's the 15" 2.33 version. The 2GB that apple now includes wont allow you to add any more without removing one of the ram modules from the memory banks. Both are filled with 1GB chips, I wanted to add my extra 1GB from my 17" MBP but I couldn't to my dismay, as apple did the same thing here as they did with the little macbooks. Both slots are filled!!!!

  • Are regular iPad minis and iPad minis with retina display the same size?

I am deliberating what case to buy, and i need to know if they are the same size, Thanks!

    iPad mini Retina:
    Height: 7.87 inches (200 mm)
    Width:5.3 inches (134.7 mm)
    Depth:0.29 inch (7.5 mm)
    iPad mini:
    Height: 7.87 inches (200 mm)
    Width: 5.3 inches (134.7 mm)
    Depth: 0.28 inch (7.2 mm)
    Source: http://www.apple.com/ipad/compare/
The depth (thickness) is the differing factor here. Most cases should work just fine. Some cases (especially the snap on back covers) *may* not fit because of the increased (.3mm/.01") thickness. The snap-on back (Best Buy/Rocketfish snap-on back shield) was a bit tight on my mini Retina but It was nothing I'd call a real issue. This is the type of case that may not fit or be tight because they wrap around the edges and snap onto the front of the mini's beveled corners. There is also an additional microphone on the iPad mini Retina. Original mini cases likely won't have this hole on the back. I don't know how critical that microphone is but in my situation, I simply drilled a small hole in the case back.

  • Is the iPad Mini Retina screen the same as an iPad Mini screen?

So my iPad Mini Retina fell between my bed and the wall and one corner cracked. I know right? Stupidest thing ever.
The crack is not that bad, but I still want it replaced since I bought it 3 weeks ago and saved up foreverrr and it's a shame it cracked
I want to order my screen on eBay, and I was wondering if I buy a screen for iPad Mini 1 would it still be the same for iPad Mini Retina?
    Thaanks.

If you replace the screen on your device, which is under warranty, you will void your Apple Warranty.  Apple will not replace the screen, but they will offer an out of warranty replacement for about 1/2 the cost of the device when you bought it.  At least you'd still have your warranty intact.

  • Buying a new MBP Retina, is the top end Haswell i7 worth the extra $200?

Spec'ing out a brand new 15" MBP… I'm upgrading from my 2008 Core 2 Duo model with 6GB RAM. The question is, specifically:
As a graphic designer who uses Adobe Creative Cloud pretty extensively (Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects), will the extra $200 for any extra 300mhz of processor be worth the added cost?
Already the machine is pretty beefy, just wondering what the community thinks.
    Hollah.

    not in my opinion.

  • MBP Retina 15" early 2013 SSD upgrade: 2 birds with 1 stone ?

    Hi,
To give me a little more space for cache when I process Photoshop huge files, the single upgrade option I'm aware of as today is the OWC SSD Aura 6G (Kit) - 1 TB.
It makes an expensive upgrade, but it would be cost effective if I could use the original Sandisk 512GB to boost my old 2006 iMac. But I don't know if the mSata (?) form factor can be used with an adapter and bracket to connect the internal SATA 150 interface.
Any hint or tip would be very much appreciated!

    Ciao.
The problem I'm experiencing with the iMac and its 3GB of RAM is that it "rams" and almost freezes on writing cache files when I browse the web. Web pages are becoming increasingly heavy these days and are hard to digest for that old machine... But no doubt, your advice is sound and it's nice to explore the pros and the cons. However, 500GB external would not be enough to be useful, or perhaps just as a cache drive in a USB3 enclosure. But since I would get another 500GB with this upgrade, I would not really need it anyway.
I just got the answer from OWC, and to their knowledge, all I can do with the old Mac SSD is get their USB3 enclosure.
So if it's really not compatible, what I can do is upgrade the iMac HD with a SSHD drive.
    Thanks!

  • Does the MacBook Pro with Retina Display the same ghosting issue as the 15 inch?

    No

  • What if the new mbp looks exactly the same as the late 2011 ones,

Can I find a way to take the motherboard off mine, and put the motherboard from the new one in there, what other internals would I need to put in the newer motherboard? i dont know very much about  the internals of mac laptops so go easy. I think i mean the motherboard from what I've read, im basically asking if i can put the whole internals of a 2012 with the ivy-bridges (if thats whats there) into my current model mbp?

    Nope, no can do.
Apple doesn't make things interchangable in that regard.
If you want to hardware hack, then it's your business, but good luck you likely will need a larger case.
Warrantly and AppleCare voided of course.
