Comparison of file storage/viewing apps

Does anyone know of a good review site that would compare all the different file storage apps out there? I googled but I couldn't find anything recent.
Alternately, if you know one that you like, let me know. I have a 1st gen ipod touch so it needs to be compatible with that. Currently I'm using Air Sharing, but I'm annoyed that instead of updating it they've made Air Sharing Pro for a separate price tag. I might upgrade (for emailing of files and better PDF support) but I'd like to scope out the other similar apps before I make a final decision.
Specific questions about any app: Does it allow emailing of files? Does it have an orientation lock option? How does it handle PDFs?

I agree about professional reviews-- that's why my first question was if anyone could point me to a detailed comparison article at a review site. I'd definitely give that more weight than random user opinions, but those can also be helpful in pointing out specific details.
I'm sorry that I said I was annoyed in my first post-- that was too strongly worded. I just meant that I would have liked to just do a no-brainer update but now that they're all the same price I feel like I need to compare all of them and get the best one, so I don't regret it later and end up buying more than one. My default would probably be to just stick with what I'm using and look into updating it at a later date when if I feel like it isn't working for me anymore, but since its a limited time sale I am putting a couple minutes into posts like this to find out if there's some other app I should be getting instead. I certainly don't mean any offense to you or your company-- its a great app-- but there are competitors with descriptions that are very very similar, and without testing them or reading a detailed review, I don't know if they're better or worse.

Audio problem with Edge animate CC 2014.1 oam files in DPS 32 (Viewer App in Ipad)

Hi there team,
I can hear no sounds in the Ipad viewer. I think the problem may be the last update of the Ipad viewer app. But not sure if the problem is with the last 2014.1 update of Edge.
The animations work fine in Chrome with onclick but they dont'ty work in the Ipad with the ontouch commands. I also checked that the oam file contains the .mp3 in the media folder (Seems that Edge 2014.1 does this right).
They are actions, not music in the background (I know there's an iOS limitation with this).
Anyone with the same problem? Could you check if your projects work fine after the last updates?

I have just found the same problem. I have an Adobe DPS article that uses Adobe edge that play audio when 'tapped', I built this before the CC 2014.1 update and that one works fine. I have created another article following the same process but using the updated version and the audio will not play.
Both files are placed OAM files. Audio worked fine in the browser during testing.
Please tell me this has not been removed as a feature!

Adobe Content Viewer app and .folio file

I created and published a .folio file on my Web server.
My boss downloaded the free Adobe Content Viewer app from iTunes for his iPad. When he tries to open the .folio file from his home screen it goes online to a browser and just shows a grey screen with an icon for the .folio file, its file size and nothing happens.
Am I missing something? The same .folio file works fine on my desktop version of Adobe Content Viewer. How do I get it to work in his app?

Found some other threads. Is this right?
1. Create my .folio file.
2. Host on my free Acrobat.com account.
3. Get viewer to get their own free Acrobat.com account and share doc URL with them.
4. They download file and view in the free Adobe Content viewer app for iPad.
Would check, but I don't have access to an iPad with live internet connection (yet).

Comparison b/w itable and app server file

I have Postal code data (KNA1-PSTLZ) in internal table. And I have input file in the app server, in that I have a data of Postal code in range like

File storage solution

Im writing an application which downloads web pages , parses them and then stores them on the computer.
Whats the best method to approach the storage solution.
Is it possible to store them as XML files ?
Im looking for a fairly simple method.

if the app will be installed locally for each user and each user will download files locally, you probably do not want to go the db route (since in this scenario, all your data will be kept remotely on a db with all your users sharing the data)--UNLESS, you use an in memory rdbms such as hsql which is integrated into your user app which can then store the files in a db. otherwise, with non-techies, you probably want to go the flat-file route. i imagine the workflow to go something like this:
- using your app, the user downloads the page(s) desired
- the app then parses and translates the page to xml and saves the xml file down to the local filesystem
- your app (which will check the default save-down directory for files every time the user goes to the apps "view saved pages" screen) will display all saved files
- the user can then select the specified file to view and your app will read in the file from the filesystem and display it to the user
it will be far more tricky to translate proprietary formats such as .doc, but apis do exist to allow you to do so (to translate .doc files with java, use the jakarta project POI). you might be able to use an api called iText to translate/create .pdf and (maybe) .ps files.

Since iOS 4.2.1 Update - Document viewer Apps do not work right!

Before I updated to iOS 4.2.1 Air Sharing (Document Viewer) was working (so were all my Document Viewers), but currently, they do not work correctly. I have checked about three others...all have the following problems:
Since I updated (to iOS 4.2.1), all the documents open up to FULL SCREEN mode (which it had never done before, since the very beginning of the AppStore). Full Screen mode means that it looks like a Word Document on the computer, with the margins showing. This is rediculous for the screen of an iPhone or iPod Touch. There is no need to see the margins. Also, the font size is so small that it makes it almost impossible for most people without a magnifying glass. The document used to open up to a "zoomed in" view of the text. This allows the person using the application to actually read the text. This also allowed scrolling up and down easily. Now, with the new Full Screen view, to get the text large enough to see, you have to double tap (or spread your fingers on the screen to scale it big enough) on the text to read it. Then, when you scroll up and down, it sometimes scrolls side to side or diagonally (into the white margins), making reading cumbersome.
The other problem with the new view is that the font sizes are all messed up. The normal font (whether 9 pt. to 16 pt.) looks the same. The italic font looks bigger than the normal font, though it is the same point size. It skews the page and alters what the original documents looks like.
I have contacted the developer of Air Sharing to complain, but he said the following:

Thank you for the test file. I do see what you're referring to. We use Apple's built-in Office viewer for Air Sharing. This means to display files like .docx ones, we use Apple's viewer. It's possible they changed their viewer in the most recent iOS update to cause this change. Because it's not our viewer we have no control over how it displays such files. Other apps using Apple's viewer will encounter the same issue. I wish there was more we could do on our end to help resolve this problem.

Ah, so that could be a good search term.
Things get a bit more weird though. I was looking through the commands in the drop down menu and saw under "Archive" this: "Put/Send the Apps you bought to this computer" (rough translateion in English) So I tried that out.
I could only do that by going to "Store" and (**** how to say that in English) "Allow" this computer to do that. This is weird as this is the same computer that I have always used for anything to do with the iPhone! I have now 2 computers that are allowed to sync, and it is one machine. Beats me!
At a certain point the transfer proces stopped again and again I was requested to "empower" this computer again, as out of the 65 apps now 21 were not allowed to be transfered! That did not work. It now keeps telling me that I have 2 computers allowed for transferring apps and these last 21 can not be put in the library.
I am a bit at my wits end!
But really thanks for trying to help out! It seems that 4.2.1 has some real problems when reading through the discussions!

Doesn't anyone else have this desire?
It seems most people are used to seeing lists on all desktop computers. I almost never see anyone viewing files as icons when doing serious work. I'm stumped as to why this would not be an option for the iphone.
Can anyone offer a reason why Apple would confine us to icon view for apps?
Imagine if you could only view your contacts as icons? Or your itunes tracks?
Come on, what gives?

How to find files created by Apps in iTunes 11.1.4.62?

Unable to find a way to view and manipulate files created by Apps. with 11.1.4.62.
Also missing is the display of the screens in devices containing app icons which can be repositioned.
Have these features been purposely removed from 11.1.4.62 ? Do I need to reinstall the previous version to get them back?

I think you're asking how to update your apps on iTunes on your computer.
The screen from which you update looks like this:
To get there, go to "Apps" as shown in the upper left, then click "Updates" in the top center. All available updates will be displayed. If there are none displayed, click "Check for Updates" in the lower right. If some are in fact available, that button will change and say "Update all".

Cannot forward one page PDF files from mail app

My earlier topic had incorrect problem report so I've created a new topic.
The problem is i cannot forward one page PDF file from mail apps. I use imap set up for my work email.
Multi page PDFs, photos, docs, numbers, all forward OK for both windows and Mac formats.

Update: I hade had a reply from the Good Reader app developer saying this is a known issue even for them. However, they don't know if Apple will fix this or not.
Basically mail app treats all one page PDF as if it's an image and will forward it the same as it would an image. Any non-apple based mail programs will have issues viewing this file..

Connect the iPad to your computer. Launch iTunes and at the menu at the top of the screen, go to View>Show Sidebar. After you have the sidebar, click on your iPad name like you did in the past. Click on the Apps tab in the window on the right. Scroll down to File Sharing apps.

I have not too much time now to see what is your problem, the lines containig the error "seems" to be a problem with the location of files... I think you ar not "including" "packaging" the contens of the www dir into the final project...
Anyway, some time ago I was make an flex project to test... I don't know if it works now...( I must install FB4.6 .... normally I use FDT )...

No Response when submitting build for single-edition custom viewer app

I want to build a custom viewer app for a single-edition folio for the iPad using the Viewer Builder. I go through all the steps described by the help articles and videos, such as generating and downloading mobileprovision files and creating asset files. However, at the final step, where the viewer builder displays the text: 'Once you hit the Submit Build' button, your build will be queued. Click 'Finish' to return to your list of publications. I click 'Submit Build', and I get the progress bar which says 'Submitting to the build queue: This popup will disapper once complete'. Once the popup disappears, I click, 'Finish', and I am returned to the Manage screen. I can see a list item for each time I attempted to submit a build, but the Builds and Build Details Columns are blank, showing no builds. However, there is a link in the App Status Column to 'Activate' by entering a serial number. Is it necessary for me to enter my serial number before I can see the results of my build, or is there something wrong with the build process?

Yes, and you need to PAY for that serial number. Single Edition apps are $395 each.

Hard to tell why you aren't getting any output without more of the program.
One thing I see is that this classes replaces the text of JTextPane with the last string read from the file. If the last string were a blank line then you would have nothing to show.
If you are assuming this is a reasonable size document then you might consider appending each line read into as StringBuffer then set the text of the JTextPane to the contents of the StringBuffer after the reaches then end.

I am in the process upgrade EBS to 12.1.3 and when attempting to launch forms to "Generate All Business Views", I encountered three Form errors:
FRM-10221: Cannot read file /u02/applfint/apps/apps_st/appl/au/12.0.0/resource
FRM-41810: error creating menu
FRM-41067: cannot fine menu item: invalid ID
Back in my shell, I have also noticed that some part of my environment variable is not functioning correctly or is missing:
. /u02/applfinp/apps/apps_st/appl/APPSOFPROD_ofinprod01.env
or
. /u02/applfinp/apps/apps_st/appl/OFPROD_ofinprod01.env
Gives:
-bash: /usrxit/devenv.env: No such file or directory
I have used adadmin utility and choose option to recreate grants and synonyms; executing adautocfg.sh but problem is persisting.

I am glad you are online. I am on a deadline to finish an upgrade by 8 AM this morning.
I have actually finished the upgrade and was about to "Generate All Business Views" to fix all the dozens of invalid views that are trailing.
I had just finished applying Patch 9239090 to get to ebs 12.1.3 an its pre-requisits. This is the first time I am opening these forms and all forms are throwing the same error.
I have manually relinked the adadmin:

Have you tried using VLC media player it seems to play almost any codec without converting.
