    Thanks so much for replying to my Query, Priya...
    The functional Consultant is saying that MPOS is not a table, also, the terms which I had referred to as TABLES in my post, are not tables, it seems. These are Live Cache data, he says.
    Do you have any idea what Live Cache is, and how to deal with it(access data from it)?
    When I searched for Live Cache access related info today. I found out that, to read data from Live Cache, you need to use SAP delivered Standard BAPIs. Please share some knowledge about it.
    Priya, it would be good if you could give me your Yahoo Chat ID, as I m badly in need of help. I will be online 9 - 6 PM, India Standard Time. My Yahoo ID is puerto_rico_thug555
    Thanks again..

  • New KMC features in Latest NW Release (NW04s SP9)

    Hi All,
       We have EP6.0 SP10.2.0 ,and KMC (NW04SPS10 patch1).We thought of upgrading our current SP level to EP6.0SP18.
    But suddenly it strike to my mind that we have NW04s release with latest SP available (NW04s SP 9) .
    We are mainly dealing with KMC features in our Portals (with rooms and Repositories) and now we want to migrate to NW04s with a latest SP available,because it has advanced and new KMC features compared to EP6.0SP18.
    I would like to know if anybody can help me to figure out these new and extra features in KMC which are not there in NW04.
    Kindly let me know at the basic level(new features of KMC) which we can propose to our client ,and go ahead with our migration.
    Any notes,documents,links would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards
    Rani A

    Hi Rani,
    > I want the difference at a basic level (at user perspective)
    > which can be provided for them in NW04s.
    Please, just check out the new features provided in the NW04 and the NW2004s line. As said, most things are developed in parallel on both platforms.
    > mainly dealing with collaborative features(collaboration rooms)
    Of course the same I gave you before (KM) is also available for "C"ollaboration:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/fe/deb5409ed53326e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/2a/1da6427cadb211e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
    > what I can see in the links are integration of collaboration rooms,
    > nothing other than that.
    ?! Really, please, do some work on your own. Just an example: In SP09 (NW2004s), the Room Detailed Navigation for External-Facing Portal works. Anyhow, this is also the case since SPS17 for NW04. And so on and so on...
    > What are the scenarios where NW04s are very unique than NW04
    Differences are for example in the BI integration area. See https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?messageID=1116255 and follow the links ...
    > Do you recommend to move to NW04s.Is NW04 is still best at this stage.
    Not as long as you don't have a concrete reason to do so (shortcomings on NW04 which are resolved in NW04s).
    Hope it helps

  • Comparison with other authoring tools

    Most of the time people get into one authoring tool like Encore, DVD Studio Pro, Sonic Solutions Authoring packages, ...
    I have the feeling with Encore 2.0 that it is not a professional package (but of course I could be wrong);
    a lot of possibilities, but not reliable and the result is not very professional.
    Subtitles don't look too great,
    a lot of bugs, really a lot,
    seamless transitions between animited menus,
    I'm curious to hear comparisons with other solutions which are professional, to orient and know more about the differences and similarities.
    DaLuna

    DVDit is ghastly.
    Encore is based on Sonic's DVD Producer, but has had a lot more of the options "Switched on" in the Authorcore. Plus of course it has a far better GUI compared to the Sonic one.
    Scenarist is seriously good, but seriously expensive, and as it is not an abstraction layer tool, it has it's own unique issues as well.
    If you want to try your hand with the scripting side of things, then you should have a look at DVD-Lab Pro.
    It's about to go to version 2, which will include goodies like Multi angle, Button Over Video, that sort of thing.
    It's only drawbacks compared to Encore are:
    1 - No DLT output.
    2 - No built-in Transcoding. You MUST feed it with DVD compliant assets.
    3 - Poor PSD support
    4 - No integration with other Adobe products
    BUT, it is well worth a look at $200

    Application Integration is done with providers(portlets)
    It depends on the API of your application.
    - Basic integration could be a dynalic SSO-Link in a simple provider.
    - Some apps via Netlet to remote access the application(wold/excel ...)
    - ERP/CRM integration via WSDL or XML/JSP proxy
    or even EJB, CORBA or JDBC connectors if your application support these APIs.
    For more info about providers see:

  • NEW FEATURE? Possibility to use APEX with other databases

    Mainly for APEX developers:
    It would be really great if the APEX Web development tool could be used with other databases e.g. MySQL, MS SQL,... as well.
    Can you imagine possible opportunities on the market when you would be able to define the datasource (target database) and to be able to develop Web applications for other databases?
    (First, the repository could be still in Oracle dB and only the target application should work with other database format.)
    I think it would be very nice feature for all web developers, so please think about it because 90% of web databases are now PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL.
    Thank you and have a nice day.
    AB

    Hi,
    a direct support will probably not be possible, because MySQL, ... are not supporting PL/SQL. But that's the language APEX is based on. The rendering engine is written in that language.
    Jes solution (Heterogeneous Connectivity) seems to be the only way to access these other databases.

  • Announcing: Developing JSF Portlets with WebLogic Portal Whitepaper

    Just Released: Developing JSF Portlets with WebLogic Portal Whitepaper
    A supplemental developer's guide has been published to help guide WLP 10.x customers that wish to use JSF as the web framework for building portlets on WebLogic Portal. This is a sizable document (150 pages) that covers a large number of topics. It also coaches developers on best practices and common pitfalls.
    Important: It also clarifies the supported configuration of JSF within Portal Web Projects. Workshop for WebLogic by default configures a web project in a configuration that is not supported by WebLogic Portal. The guide explains how to address this:
    * Change from the unsupported MyFaces JSF implementation to the supported Sun Reference Implementation (RI)
    * Change from the unsupported "client" STATE_SAVING_METHOD to the supported "server"
    The guide can be downloaded here:

    Hi Peter!
    First, I wish to thank you for the great work.
    We followed your whitepaper and managed to deploy a JSF portlet on WLS.
    But we are not able to register it (consume it) as remote portlet in Oracle Portal 10.1.4. The error log is as follows:

  • Need CVS plug in with weblogic portal 10.3

    I tried to integrate the CVS plug in with Weblogic Portal 10.3 using software updates (Selecting Eclipse CVS Client 1.0.2.r33x), but getting the error - Weblogic Portal 10.3 requires feature "com.m7.nitrox(1.0.20)", or compatible
    Can someone help me in CVS plug ins with weblogic portal 10.3.

    ttam,
    This is a bug, 8185869 (Check in Metalink) . that has been fixed in the Sunshine Release. In the meantime, here's the workaround from the bug report:
    Download the plugin manually, and either 1) create an extension location on the file system from it and add that via Help|Software Updates|Manage Configuration, or 2) extract it to one of the workshop eclipse folders (i.e. tools/eclipse_pkgs/2.0/eclipse_3.3.2, tools/eclipse_pkgs/2.0/pkgs/eclipse, workshop_10.3/workshop4WP/eclipse, wlportal_10.3/eclipse).
    Additionally, you can comment out the com.* import lines in your %BEA_HOME%\wlportal_10.3\eclipse\features\com.bea.wlp_10.3.0\feature.xml, like this:
    <requires>
    <import plugin="org.eclipse.core.runtime" version="3.3" match="compatible"/>
    <import plugin="org.eclipse.ui" version="3.3" match="compatible"/>
    <!--
    <import feature="com.m7.nitrox" version="1.0.20" match="compatible"/>
    <import feature="com.bea.workshop.cmdline.feature" version="1.0.30" match="compatible"/>
    <import feature="com.bea.workshop.common.feature" version="1.1.40" match="compatible"/>
    <import feature="com.bea.workshop.upgrade81.feature" version="1.0.30" match="compatible"/>
    <import feature="com.bea.workshop.web.feature" version="1.0.20" match="compatible"/>
    <import feature="com.bea.workshop.wls.feature" version="1.1.30" match="compatible"/>
    <import feature="com.bea.workshop.xmlbeans.feature" version="1.0.30" match="compatible"/>
    -->
    </requires>
    Then restart Workshop.
    cheers

  • Comparison of Fax features for EBS configuration

    H All,
    Could anyone please let me know where could find a document related to different Fax features with comparison for EBS configuration.
    We need to find out which fax will be better to be integarted with EBS 12.0.6 to work.
    Thanks for your time!
    Regards,

    Please see old threads for similar discussion -- http://forums.oracle.com/forums/search.jspa?threadID=&q=Fax&objID=c3&dateRange=all&userID=&numResults=15&rankBy=10001
    I do not think you will find a document with a comparison, and I believe the best practice is to contact the vendors and get all those details.
    Thanks,

  • Using Apache with WebLogic Portal

    Hi,
    I had a small test WebLogic system working, and just started configuring an Apache server to frontend it, using the WebLogic Apache plugin to connect the two machines.
    I did the httpd.conf configurations indicated in BEA's documentation, including the <Location /weblogic>, etc., and I was finally able to get it all working. But, to do this, I found that I had to copy the /features and /images directories from the WebLogic machine to under the /htdocs directory on my Apache machine, and I was wondering if this was "normal" (i.e., was that the correct thing to do)?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jim

    hoos,
    When I read your msg, I wasn't sure 'where' you meant to try the "/app.portal*".
    The Plugin documentation doesn't mention using a wildcard ("*") at all, but I figured I'd try it, and VOILA, it now works.
    FYI, here's what I have in my httpd.conf:
    # Re-route all /weblogic URLs to the WebLogic Portal via the Apache Plugin
    <Location /weblogic>
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    PathTrim /weblogic
    </Location>
    # Re-route all /app.portal* URLs (all URLs that start with '/app.portal' or '/app.portal...') to the WebLogic Portal via the Apache Plugin
    <Location /app.portal*>
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    </Location>
    The URL I use to get to my portal initially is:
    https://jim.foo.com/weblogic
    Thanks for your help! I'll be posting this in the other thread, just for completeness.

  • How to integrate Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse with Weblogic Portal

    Hi
    I am following this documentation http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14252/setup_dev_env.htm#i1013214
    to setup my development environment for developing portal applications, but I cannot set it up, my eclipse does not have PORTAL perspective.
    I have downloaded the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse 11gR1 (11.1.1.5) and the Oracle WebLogic Portal 10.3 as mentioned in the documentation.
    The Oracle Weblogic Portal 10.3 includes a workshop version of eclipse, but that is not based on a recent Eclipse, that is why I would like to use the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse 11gR1 (11.1.1.5).
    It is weird int he Oracle Portal 10.3 installation that I cannot install the Weblogic Portal without the Workshop.
    Could you help me in this? How can I integrate the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse with Weblogic Portal?
    Thank you.

    For WebLogic Portal tooling you have a couple of options. For WebLogic Portal 10.3 and older, Workshop for WebLogic will be your tooling environment.
    Starting in WebLogic Portal 10.3.2, which released this year, the development tools have migrated to Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse. The WebLogic Portal 10.3.2 installer will install both the runtime and the IDE configured with additional WebLogic Portal Eclipse features (Portal Project Configuration, Perspecitives, Palettes, Deployment, etc).
    If you are interest in the latest version, you can download from the WebLogic Portal OTN page - http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/weblogic/portal/index.html

    Love the wiki portlet feature in sun portal server .. It uses jspwiki and has xinha HTML Editor (with insert portlet option where in you can insert any portlet channel within your wiki page)
    If you are considering more community features then probably you should have a look at 7.1u1 (to be released soon) which is web2.0 rich
