Comparitively between Oracle Webcentre content management and Oracle CMSDK

Hi,
Currently for one of my client they are using Oracle CMSDK 9.0.4.2.2 to maintain all the files which comes from upstream system or goes to downstream system for integration, the Oracle CMSDK support variety of protocol support e.g. http, ftp, sftp, NFS, SMB, CUP, WebDev etc.
They have used CMSDK as file system repository, however all the data what we stored in CMSDK goes to database as LOB. This component get installed on Oracle application server.
I am looking for similar product likewise CMSDK for the weblogic platform, as we are upgrading legacy middle ware to Oracle Fusion Middleware SOA Suite.
Is the Oracle web centre could be alternate option for CMSDK? or can you suggest some other Content management product which can be installed on weblogic server and can be integrate with composite process.
Regards..
Manish

+ I want to use OCR/Bar Code features: For bar codes reading you need to use recognition server.Using it it will read the value in bar code and automatically indexed the fields
+ ODC VS WFR: In other way you can call capture process is not automatic i.e manual indexing required But in case if all things are good like quality of invoice etc and you want the process to automate without manual intervention ,this can be achieved with WFR.
see the document below for ODC/WFR integration

    Hi,
Oracle SQL Net Connect String is the entry in TNSNAME.ORA file which identifies your Oracle Database SID.
    e.g.
    ORCL_SBA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS =
    (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (HOST = host.com)
    (PORT = 1521)
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = ORCL_SBA)
Here, the Oracle SQL Net Connect String is: ORCL_SBA. Net Connect String is utilized to directly connect with the Database, without any Driver being interfaced in between.
While, ODBC DSN is a all together different stuff. You create ODBC DSN using "Data Sources (ODBC)" Utility under Administrative Tools. Here you need to specify a Driver to Connect to the Database, which should be the Siebel Oracle Driver Provided by DataDirect Technology.
    Hope this clears your confusion.
Oracle SQL Net Connect String & ODBC DSN are two different stuff, used for different reasons.
As Robert said, you need to read the Installation Guide more thoroughly for understanding the nuances of Siebel Installation.

    Hello,
I am at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/content-management/downloads/index-085241.html and downloaded the part 1 and 2 of the Oracle Universal Content Management 11gR1 software. The part 2 looks good but part 1 is corupt (it is only 4mb). I tried this download from different computers and browsers which doesn't help
Does everyone have the same problem?
    Thanks

Workflow for document approvals and routing is supplied out of the box without the need for separate software or installs.
What you can do is described here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10316_01/cs/cs_doc_10/documentation/admin/workflow_guide_10gr3en.pdf
The more complex integrated processes can use BPEL Manager which does require addditional component and software

  • Hardware requirement for Oracle Universal Content Management

    Hi Experts,
What are the Hardware requirements for Oracle Universal Content Management ?
    Regards
    Nasir

    does this help?
Oracle WebLogic Server 11g (10.3.3) System Requirements
Oracle WebLogic Server supports a number of platforms including:
    – Linux
    – Sun Solaris
    – HP-UX
    – Windows 2000, 2003 Server, XP
    • Processor:
    – At least one 1 GHz CPU is recommended.
    – Intel and UNIX processors are supported.
    • Hard disk drive:
    – A full installation requires approximately 2 GB of disk space.
    – The Linux value for file descriptors must be 4096 or greater.
    – Samples are optional (download from OTN).
    • Memory:
    – A minimum of 2 GB RAM is recommended for WebLogic
    Server.
    – Consider the number of simultaneous users and sessions.
    – Consider in-memory programs, such as Coherence.
    System Requirements
The following are some of the basic system requirements for Oracle WebLogic Server 10.3.3:
    • The Oracle WebLogic Server installer requires a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to run.
Oracle WebLogic Server is certified with JDK6.0. As part of the installation, it gives the option
to install the JRockit JDK 6.0 version. As part of postinstallation, prefix the bin directory of
the JDK to the PATH environment variable.
    • The Oracle WebLogic Server installer requires a temporary location in which to unpack the
files. Typically, the installer requires approximately 2.5 times the amount of temporary space
that is required by the installed files.
Note: In this release of WebLogic Server, users can choose which components of WebLogic Server
they use. Specifically, this release allows users to choose whether the Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB),
Java Message Service (JMS), and J2CA services are started when WebLogic Server is started. The
benefit of excluding some services is reduced memory footprint and reduced startup time.

  • How to install "Oracle Universal Content Management 10g Patch Update Bundle

I have downloaded and installed Oracle Content Server 10g r3 , and i did a simple cycle for a work-flow , and after that i downloaded "Oracle Universal Content Management 10g Patch Update Bundle", but when i opened the file i found that it contains many folder and some without a setup files , so how can i install the patch update bundle file ?
    Thanks

Although what Srinath is true and correct, it is advised that you always install all the enabled components. The only situations where this is not the case is where:
    1. You have a newer component than is in the bundle (i.e. you recently had a patch for that component which is newer than the bundle).
    2. You have customised the component in question for your own use - in which case a newer version would overwrite your customisations.
Otherwise, you should install all the enabled components if possible.

  • Looking for comparison between MS Visual Source Safe and Oracle SCM

    Hi,
I am looking for some comparison between MS Visual Source Safe and Oracle SCM.
What I need is technical feature comparison (not just marketing comparison stating that Oracle SCM is better for everything is stored in the very reliable Oracle database(although this is a good point)).
Any help in this area will be helpfull.
    Best regards,
    Mihail Daskalov

    Thanks you for your answer,
I like very much Oracle SCM, which I use extensively.
I have very little experience with MS VSS (only on my local machine). I have never tested it in a network environment with multiple developers.
I would like to convince other developers to switch to Oracle SCM, but I need to know what to tell them.
I'm actually both a developer and DBA, and I do like the safety the Oracle Database offers for storing files inside.
I like very much the opportunity to connect with Oracle Repository Navigator from a remote location to my database through Connection Manager and to be able to work with my projects. (There is an issue with this configuration due to the JDBC driver used I'm unable to compare files).
But to convince people I need to know more about the differences between MS VSS and Oracle SCM.
I would appreciate if any of the developers share experience with VSS and SCM.
    Regards,
    Mihail Daskalov

  • Difference: Oracle Access Manager and Oracle Access Management

    Dear,
What is the difference between Oracle Access Manager and Oracle Access Management, both 11g
    thanks

Oracle Access Manager is the foundation(main product), of the new Oracle Access Management platform. Access Manager provides the core functionality of Web Single Sign On(SSO), authentication, authorization, centralized policy administration and agent management, real-time session management and auditing. Built as a 100% Java solution, Access Manager is extremely scalable to handle Internet scale deployments and works with existing heterogeneous environments in the enterprise with agents certified on hundreds of web servers and application servers. Access Manager provides rich functionality, extreme scalability and high availability thereby increasing security, improving user experience and productivity and enhancing compliance while reducing total cost of ownership.
Oracle Access management solution provides: Comprehensive Web Access Management, Web Single Sign-On, Identity Propagation, and Federation;Mobile and Social Sign-On;Real-time External Authorization;daptive Access and Fraud Detection
So basically one is a product and the other one is an entire solution.
    I hope this helps,

  • I want to download "Oracle Universal Content Management 10.1.3.3.3"

i want to download "Oracle Universal Content Management 10.1.3.3.3" from oracle web site, and i found also the following three downloads
"Oracle Universal Content Management 10g Patch Update Bundle" & "Oracle Content Server 10g Localization Component Update" & "JRockit R27.6.0 for Oracle Content Server 10g", so should i download these three files in addition to"Oracle Universal Content Management 10.1.3.3.3" ? and what will these files provides?
    thanks
    Edited by: user11120147 on Jun 17, 2010 4:36 AM

You definitely want the patch update bundle. This will include all the bug fixes and improvements to the core and standard components. These have been rolled into a single update.
The Localization component should just provide additional language packs for the interface so this is optional.
The JRockit download is an alternative JVM (it came from BEA) that you can use with UCM in production as an alterntive to the standard shipped Sun JVM. I do not want to start a holy war but JRockit is a little faster (perhaps 20%) but the majority stick with Sun JVM on 10gr3.

    Vijay,
You can install Oracle Web Services Manager (OWSM) as a stand alone product, but the easiest way would be to use the OracleAS SOA Suite Developer Preview, that contains all the SOA components (OWSM, J2EE, BPEL, ESB, ...)

  • Oracle Web Services Manager and Stateful Services

    Hi,
I was wondering if anybody could help or provide guidance on stateful web services and the OWSM.
I've registered a stateful web service with the OWSM. I also selected the "Keep-Alive" option as well, but this prob. doesn't pertain to stateful web services. But it doesn't seem to register the fact that its a stateful web service. When I call it, I have a packet analyzer that looks at the TCP trace and no Session id is sent back in the headers on the client side, which is on a separate box. Obviously, running it directly with Java and Axis works fine.
We are using a gateway for the OWSM, not an agent. The web service is successful in getting called through OWSM but the problem is that no session information is sent back to client so subsequent calls fail b/c the web service requires the state and what the previous call was. This web service is a .NET service and resides on a different server/box than the Oracle SOA suite.
Are there any tutorials/information out there that would tell me how to register a stateful web service with the OWSM? Eventually we'd like to connect the OWSM to an ESB and that would require it to be stateful as well obviously.
    Thanks again,
    Nathan

On OTN, documentation library. Search for Oracle Web Service Manager and there you will see the Extensibility Guide.

  • "Oracle BPM  Suite 11g" and "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" components

    Dear Friends,
I am very confusing about the "Oracle BPM suite 11g" and "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" and would like your help on explanation as the following :
I have learn that In order to use "Oracle BPM Suite 11g" require to have "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" components to install first. Does it means that :
    1) When we buy "Oracle BPM Suite 11g" , we automatically get the "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" components as well ?
    2) IS it correct that these " these Oracle SOA Suite 11g components" are included :
    (a) Oracle BAM
    (b) Oracle Business Rules
    (c) Oracle BPEL Manager
    (d) Oracle Service Bus
    (e) Oracle Complex Event Processing
    3) Do we have a right to use all of these components listed in (2) ?
    4) Then the answers in (3) is "YES", then Is it correct when the customer buy the "Oracle BPM Suite 11g" , they no need to buy "Oracle SOA 11g" any more when they would like to implements that applications based on SOA in the future (without using BPM) ?
    5) What IF , the customer would like to start with "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" product and decide to buy only Oracle SOA Suite 11g first ; then later on in the future they would like to implement BPM projects in the future. Can you upgrade "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" to include "Oracle BPM Sutie 11g" and pay only the price different ?
I hope you can help providing the answers to these questions. THank you very much in advance.
    Best Regards
    Pearapon S.

This is a question best answered by your Oracle reseller or Oracle account manager to give you all the details but I hope this brief answer helps:
    - The Unified Business Process Management Suite (BPM Suite 11g) includes: BPM Studio, BPM Composer, BPMN Service Engine and Workflow Extensions, BPM Process Spaces, and BPM Process Analytics.
    - BPM Suite 11g requires the licensing of SOA Suite 11g for Oracle Middleware which requires a license for WebLogic Suite.
    - You can license SOA Suite 11g now and license BPM Suite 11g later.
Since the products are layered, I don't see this cutting into SOA sales at all. My personal view is that BPM on top of SOA is brilliant since it provides easy integration between human and automated tasks, builds on many of the SOA concepts that are key for a successful BPM implementation (functional, not the Oracle product), and uses the same IDE. The synergies extend past easy use of services; the same business rules and human workflow components are used between both products.

    Hello Gurus,
What is the relationship between Oracle Single Sign on and Oracle Internet Directory.

    Hi Tim,
I've been working on this and could reproduce the issue with anonymous binds. A fix will be ready in 4.2.1.
So what I really need is the password used for login to pass to the is_member call. The P101_PASSWORD item does not save state. However, you can access the value during submit processing of the login page, for example in the post authentication function of your authentication scheme. People sometimes put code in there to query the user's groups (e.g. with apex_ldap.member_of2) and save them in an application. This item value can then be used in the authorization schemes.
