Compass not working

Hi.
first of all: sorry for my bad english :-D.
I'm not able to calibrate the compass on my iPhone 5S (iOS 7.0.4).
The iphone does not react on inclination while i'm trying to calibrate the compass.
After 20 seconds of trying to calibrate, the Calibration-Window closes and the Compass-Window appears,
but the compass is only rotating from north to east, from south to east etc.
I restored my iPhone over iTunes and set it up to "a new iPhone" but the Error is still there.
I got the same problem a month ago. I wanted to visit the Apple Store to tell my problem, but the fault disappeared suddenly.
The Apple-Support said there is a trick to recalibrate all sensors:
You have to lay down your iPhone on a flat level while it's on "Do Not Disturb"-Mode for 120mins.
It sounds funny. I tryed it, but it doesnt work.

MMy compass calibrates freezes and then goes to the compass screen but will not work.
the spirit level works fine and the location shown is correct.

The compass quit working on my 5S after upgrading to one of the versions of 8. After the next update it started working again. I suspect it's a software glitch rather than hardware. Try resetting and/or restoring your phone or update to the latest version.

Hello nokia,
Is there anybody in nokia caring for the customer issues.
In may-2013 i had purchased the phone and after two days the phone just fallen from the height of 1.5 ft. the display got damaged.
I visited to the nokia care in gurgaon, they said it will be repaired on chargeable basis.
I paid the charges and phone was given to me after 10 days.
The phone got repaired and the display was working perfectly.
Last week i was trying to install the HERE nokia city lens, then there was an maessage that your phone doesn/t have the compass. I contacted the nokia customer care they said to visit the nokia care centre i visited there they done the software reset.but, after that also it was not working.
they said the phone need to be send for the repair.The phone is OUT OF warranty& it will be on chargeable basis.
Now, i bought the phone in 18300/- & then i paid the 11000/- for the repair.
The phone costed me approx 29000/-.
The problem was not checked properly at the time of repair.Its the duty of the nokia to check all the details of the phone before giving back to the customer.
Is it my fault that i hadn't checked this problem before.
Is it not the responsibility of nokia to check the complete phone before giving back to the customer.
And your people says that they can't do anything as its against there policy.
Is anyone there in nokia to answer the customer issues.
And help them back.
anyone having the customer care head on repair head details pls. help me with that.

you're right.. they should have checked the fone completely for other damages. it really is a hassle to have to come back for something that wasn't fixed, although you asked them to fix something else. at any rate, i think you should still have to pay for it since it's no longer under warranty :/

Compass not working on iPhone5S

I started the compass app on iPhone 5S and calibrated it. After calibration the compass showed up but didn't move. As if it were stuck/jammed at zero, like showing no response. But the level worked fine. Also all compass apps didn't worked

reset all settings
settings-general-reset-reset all settings
now reconnect to wifi
settings- wifi- click network name- enter password - join
if issue persist back up and restore as new via iTunes

There is no support for downgrading.
Delete the compass from multitask-list
Do a
Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data

Only the carrier that the iPhone was locked to can unlock. There you go, hacking void any support from this forum.

WIFI not working on iphone 4 after ios 7 upgrade

I just upgrded my iphone 4 to ios 7.
I am trying to set up my wifi with it and it's not working.
How can I set up my wifi within ios 7 so it works on my iphone 4?
It just keep sayiing "Unable to join network"

Well it asks for you to rotate the red ball around the circle, which I do and then the compass displays but there is no direction or bearing provided, just some co-ordinates in the bottom RH cnr. If I move it about or press the compass it does nothing !
Also at the top there is a red arrow on a narrow white marker which if I press down on seems to give a white blob and then disappears. not clear what that is for either
I have tried resetting the phone and not having true north marked, makes no difference to when I first tried it.

StarWalk compass stopped working with their most recent update.

My favorite application on my iPad used to be Starwalk. Ever since their most recent update on April 30, the internal compass stopped working (which is basically the backbone of the entire app). I contacted Vito technology (the developer) - it took a long time to get a response, but after several efforts they finally replied that there was a flaw in the iPad's internal Magnetometer, that it had nothing to do with their software, and there was nothing they could do about it - I should take it up with Apple. The app worked perfectly until their most recent update. I looked at their reviews/comments and numerous people were making the exact same complaint, and everyone said it stopped working as the result of the April 30 Starwalk update. I have one friend with a 3G iPad and the app still works fine for him. I have another friend with a wiFi version like me, and the app ALSO stopped working for him on April 30. So I understand not all iPads are affected.
So am I supposed to take this up with Apple now and tell them there is a flaw in their magnetometer that caused StarWalk to break as of their last update, and see if they can fix all our devices?
I don't believe Vito's assertion that their software is not at fault (considering so many people are complaining in their negative reviews that the last update triggered this breakage).
I'm frustrated and wonder if anyone else is experiencing this. Starwalk used to be my favorite app, and its even more frustrating to listen to the developer tell me its a device flaw that's been there all along, when me and many other people all had simultaneous magnetometer problems develop on April 30 - the moment we installed their last update.

Just that I have the latest from April 30 and there are no updates that are available to me. I guess you have the wifi only version as I do? I can't quite figure out why this would be affecting some people and not others. If you go to the StarWalk page on iTunes you'll see the list of people complaining about the same thing. In iTunes it also says my iPad software is up to date (I assume that means the OS/firmware).
So do you guys think this is something I take up with StarWalk or Apple? I feel a little ripped off that Vito has sold me a $6 app (granted that is not much) that has stopped working, and they are telling me its a flaw in the device.
I'll paste the response I received from Vito below. Bear in mind that although they say this has nothing to do with their software, all of the people who are complaining had a functioning app before April 30, and it stopped working as soon as we made that update.

Unfortunately, we cannot fix this particular problem, because it is caused by the digital compass malfunction and has nothing to do with our software. However, we are happy to offer you directions which may help you avoid experiencing this inconvenience in the future.
For better functioning of the digital compass consider doing the following:
1) Tilt your device from landscape to portrait orientation several times. This will help the digital compass recalibrate itself and calculate current position.
2) Make sure the compass is not obstructed by thick walls of buildings or large amounts of metal nearby. Try going outside.
3) Consider trying again later. Sometimes it is unclear what may be influencing the magnetometer.
If you need more information, please read the magnetometer specifications below.
We hope that these simple instructions were of help. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.

What's going on with ios8... Screen rotate does not work anymore, wifi doesn't work very well anymore and apps are crashing or running slow... Come on Apple sort this mess out

ssince I updated my iPhone 5s to ios8 ive had nothing but problems...
first the the screen rotation is not working... Checked the settings and lock is off.... The wifi is intermittent, some times it works sometimes it doesn't....
the he iPhone is really slow now, like really labouring.... It hangs and crashes all the time.... I have to close apps down completely because they won't work from quick launch anymore.... Even writing this the phone is labouring.... It's like my old 48k spectrum.... I don't expect this from Apple and when you spend £400-500 on a phone you expect it to work and play propperly.... come on Apple you need to sort out this mess of a update.... Ios 7 was no bother......

Same issue here... iphone5S 64GB. It's intermittent. Sometimes the rotation works fine, sometimes it doesn't, but most of the time it doesn't work.
The first time I figured out it wasn't working was when all newly-taken photos and videos were showing up in portrait mode though I always hold in landscape mode when photographing.
Rotation lock is disabled (tried toggling it on and off). Tried recalibrating the compass on a whim, no effect (although my compass seems to always require calibration when it's launched now).
This issue only started happening after upgrading to iOS8. I did a reset/restore through iTunes rather than an OTA upgrade.
UPDATE - power-cycling the phone seems to fix it temporarily.

i have recently facing a problem my compass and other apps which require location service are not working on my Iphone 4s, after i have upgrade my iphone ios to 8.1.3. Settings are correct i.e. location service is 'ON' and apps require location service are allowed to use my location.

IPhone 3GS 3.1.2 GPS not working!

Hi i need help..been trying the past 2 day to get the GPS to work...but it still cant work..this is what i have done..
-Off 3G
-Off Local
-On Airplane
-On Local
open the map and locate us..sometimes it is able to locate me but most of the time the location is quite off my exact location....
i try to route it..but the blue dot will just stay the starting point and it is not moving except the direction is moving...
Also try to restore the frimware numerous of times...still cant get it work...
i also try to remove my sim card and try to see whether it can pick up any GPS signal but it show nothing...
Download montion x lt from app store...it cant detect any GPS signal, what it does only triangle using the GSM tower...
Compass is working fine...
so anyone can help? im runing out of option....
was wondering whether is the GPS spolit or wat?
any advise from expert here?

Hi DJR81, it does indeed sound like the GPS could be out. Try contacting your service provider for a warranty repair.

After upgrading my Sony Xpera Z1 to Android 4.4.4 the App "Moves" (Protogeo) does not work anymore!
It says: Tracking error, accelerometer does not work!
This work fine before!

I am using JCreator pro and its intellisense is not working...I had previously installed JavaFX and then removed it...is it the side effect I am having ?

also i have copied java API docs to same folder as JDK ..now when i highlight the code and press F1 i don't get API doc for the highlighted keyword...instead a bookview is shown at the right corner.....what could be the problem...please explain the solution in a beginners tone..I am new to java...thank you very much once again..... :D
