    Some suggestions.
    Edit /etc/SuSE-release to say:
    SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 (i586)
    VERSION = 9
    Change it back after Oracle 10.2.0.1 is installed & before applying latest 10.2 patch.
    Install the 'orarun' SLES package. (yast as root - Before Oracle Install)
    I also install 'gvim' 'Gnu C compiler' & ' Sun Java 1.4.2'. (also, yast as root b4 Ora install)
    Then load latest OPatch for 10.2.0.? (Patches are OK with SLES10 in 'release' file)
    Then latest CriticalPatchUpdate.
    I've had a long battle - and won - , getting 15GB SGA's running on 32bit Linux.
    Use 64bit hardware and OS and Oracle if you have a choice. Much simpler.

    Hi,
    Two methods can reach your goal as following:
    1,mount the ISO and cd Enterprise/RPMS and manually install these packages one by one;
    2,Use up2date packages_name install from ULN.

    Someone help me!!!
    Thanks.

    The requirements for installing 10.2.0 and 9.0.4 on RHEL4 differ - 9.0.4 is based on older versioned RSFs and require linking against older compatibility libraries.
    The OUI may incorrectly complain if later versions of the required/pre-requisite packages really are installed - this should not be a problem functionally, however.
    The latter errors you report, however (make, relocation error, glibc/symbol), are symptomatic of trying to link with/against incompatible gcc/glibc versions. Try installing the following additional compatibility files (appropriate for your architecture);
    - http://oss.oracle.com/projects/compat-oracle/dist/files/RedHat/compat-oracle-rhel4-1.0-5.i386.rpm
    - http://oss.oracle.com/projects/compat-oracle/dist/files/RedHat/compat-libcwait-2.1-1.i386.rpm
    If you have not already done so, I suggest you create and use (i.e. source) separate environment definition files when working with each product/version environment. For 9.0.4, ensure that you specify environment variable LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19 before installing 9.0.4 (or relinking).
    If you have MetaLink access, refer also to Note.315832.1, Note.389811.1.

  • How to install Oracle Applications on Fedora Core 6?

    I am trying to install Oracle Applications on Fedora Core 6. But when i start rapidinstall it is showing the error as permission denied eventhough all permissions are correct. I tried this with singleuser and multiuser also.
    Is it possible to install Oracle Applications on Fedora Core 6?

    It is probably best to stick with Red Hat AS/ES 3.0/4.0, Oracle Linux 4.0, or SLES9/Suse9/10 for installing Oracle Applications. Even if you could install it on FC 6, it is likely it would break, and be very difficult to get it working again.
    Here are the RH 4 prerequisites:
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES 4.0*      Legacy Software Development package and X Software Development package
    Note: Select these packages from the Package Group Selection screen. If the operating system is already installed, use System Settings > Add/Remove Applications to install these two packages.
    The following components will be installed automatically:
    compat-db-4.1.25-9
    compat-gcc-32-3.2.3-47.3
    compat-gcc-32-c++-3.2.3-47.3

    compat-libcwait-2.0-2
    compat-libgcc-296-2.96-132.7.2
    compat-libstdc++-296-2.96-132.7.2
    compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.3
    xorg-x11-deprecated-libs-devel-6.8.1-23.EL
    xorg-x11-deprecated-libs-6.8.1-23.EL
    The following required component must be installed manually:
    openmotif-2.1.30-x
    Note: For information on downloading the openmotif component, see the instructions at the following URL: https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2 005-412.html

  • Oracle distribution linux version

    I know this seems an odd question, but i'm sure someone will know the answer.
    I have some oracle 9.2.4.0 for linux install disks, is there anyway to discover if they are 32 or 64 bit version?, I am attempting to install on 32 bit linux (oel 4 u7).
    I have 10g and 11g installations on solaris - no problem at all, but this old version has library version errors during install and i think is is due to 32/64 bit issue.

  • Red Hat OS updates certified by Oracle

    Hi.
    We have to understand which Red Hat Linux patches are relevant for our db, apps and discoverer tiers.
    If, for example, our datbase is up to 10.2.0.2.0, I would need to know up to which patch level we should be looking at.
    There seem to be hundreds of security patches available to Red Hat users on Oracle, so I would like to understand how to know up to which patch we should be patching up to.
    Thanks.
    DA

    Yes I hear thee.
    So far I have the following information on the database and EBS, but I am struggling to find any listed OS requirements for Discoverer:
    Oracle recommends the following Red Hat Linux packages.
    Oracle Database 10.2.0.2.0
    For database 10.2.0.2.0: The following packages (or later versions) must be installed:
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0 and Asianux 2.0:
    binutils-2.15.92.0.2-13.EL4
    compat-db-4.1.25-9
    compat-libstdc++-296-2.96-132.7.2
    control-center-2.8.0-12

    EBS 11.5.10.2
    For EBS 11.5.10.2
    glibc: 2.3.4-2
    Legacy Software Development package and X Software Development package
    Note: Select these packages from the Package Group Selection screen. If the operating system is already installed, use System Settings > Add/Remove Applications to install these two packages.
    The following components will be installed automatically:

    Hi,
    Download & Install the following rpm and retry oracle installation.
    http://oss.oracle.com/projects/compat-oracle/dist/files/Enterprise_Linux/xorg-x11-libs-compat-6.8.2-1.EL.33.0.1.i386.rpm
    installation
    rpm -i xorg-x11-libs-compat-6.8.2-1.EL.33.0.1.i386.rpm
    After the RPM, is installed, you will also need to override the /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6 with the one from /usr/X11R6/lib/libXtst.so.6.
    As root, issue the commands:
    mv /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6 /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6.ORG
    ln –s /usr/X11R6/lib/libXtst.so.6 /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6
