Compatability between iBook and Lacie Slim CDRW

Hello.
I've recently purchased an external Lacie Slim CDRW/DVD (by Porsche) drive to use with my iBook. I wanted to be able to watch multiple region dvds without damaging my iBook's sueprdrive so I figured the easiest way. I purchased it used off of eBay.
Problems occured when I attached the drive to my iBook using USB 2. The device received power, as I could open the drive and hear discs spinning, but I wasn't able to see any disc on the desktop or in the finder. I was able to find the drive in the System Profiler under USB High Powered Hub (or something similar, I'm not on my iBook at the moment).
Even more curiously, I've been able to use the drive, and access discs made on my superdrive, using my PC at work.
So basically, why is this drive not working with my iBook? I look forward to hearing any ideas, thanks.

A few more things...
I've been trying to figure this out over the last couple days. I tried various combinations of different regioned video DVDs, data DVDs, and CD-Rs. When I put a Region 0 dvd and a data DVD in the drive, a window opened saying that I had inserted a blank DVD and what would I like to do. I clicked open in Finder and then received the following error "This disc could not be used because the drive is not supported. (Error code 0x800200250)"
My one thought of a possible problem might be the amount of power the drive is receiving. I remember reading somewhere that the USB drives on iBooks are lower powered for some reason and aren't able to power up a device, such as a drive, which requires a lot of power. I don't know how much merit there is to this.
My only accomplishments with it so far are finding a disc in the drive in the Disk Utility, seeing the drive in the System Profiler, and hearing a disc try to spin up. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

iWeb cannot import published files so you would need rebuild the site.
Yahoo hosting is notoriously poor and their tech support is awful. I would suggest you look for new hosting and start afresh. Some pointers for choosing hosting...

  • Ultra Bay Slim battery compatability between X4 and X6 UltraBase.

I have an X41 with an X4 Ultrabase. I have 2 existing batteries for the Ultrabay Slim.
One is FRU-08K8191, the other is FRU-41A4118. Both are 10.8V and 2.2Ah and as far as looks and operability, and I cannot tell the difference other than the FRU number. Both are also discontinued according to Lenovo.
I need to replace one of them as it has lost 45% of its life through time and usage.
All I can find to replace it is FRU-08K8190, but that is 10.8v and 1.5Ah.
Calculated out, my battery with 55% remaining capacity is about 1.2Ah capacity, almost doesnt make sense to replace it with a 1.5Ah. I dont think I will be gaining anything worth the $119.00 plus shipping to buy it.
I do see that Lenovo/IBM has a battery FRU-43R9250 that is "supposed" to work with the X6 Ultrabase and also the T60, R60, Z60, but has no listing to be compatable with the X4.
This battery is rated at 10.8v and 2.7Ah. Much better battery IF it will work.
All of the batteries I have mentioned seem to all be the 9.5mm thickness. I dont know about PIN placements however.
After exhausting resources at Lenovo tech support and Shop Lenovo and getting no answers, I found this site.
    What I am asking is:
    1) Does anyone here know it the X4 and the X6 Ultrabay's are compatable as far as batteries are concerned?
    2) Maybe if someone here has one or the other or both, can you tell me which battery you use and the ratings of it?
    3) Also, if anyone has already tried out this FRU-43R9250 in an X4, or any battery from an X6 into an X4? Does it work?

That was how I have been thinking too. I cant see that if both batteries (no matter what L-Ion cells are inside), if the voltage rating is the same and the connections are the same and it fits inside the 9.5mm bay, that it really should just work. It was the IBM/Lenovo documentation that is sort of incomplete on compatability that cast the doubt. No matter how I've looked at it, it all cross-references to work through the X6 reference and Ultrabay Slim. I just dont want to spend the money, get it, send it back, and pay 2 shipping charges and 15% restocking on a hunch without doing the proper research and at least asking experienced people about it first.
I thank you for all your insight and help. You have made me more at ease about ordering the battery. When I get it, regardless if it works, I will post on this topic for all to see.

  • Battery Compatability between Vado and Vado HD

Creative have been pushing battery and charger bundles here in the UK for January sales. I ordered one such bundle but have now discovered a reference on the US site to the Vado battery not being compatible with the Vado HD. There was no such warning on the UK site so have I ordered a battery and charger that is unsuitable for my Vado HD (still awaiting deli'very of this as well)?
There is no other charger or battery listed on the UK site anyway!
    Cheers!

  • Sharing between iBook and Kindell app books

i have books on my kindell app , and would lim e to read them on iBook, is there a way to share files, books between both  iBook and kindell

Purchased books from Amazon can't be read in iBooks, and vice versa.

  • Difference between iBook and Powerbook

Wondering if anybody could tell me the difference between the two besides the price.

The latest 12" iBooks have better performance than the 12" PBs in some areas. Obviously processor intensive apps will be faster on the PB. But the graphics card on the latest iBooks, even with only 32MB RAM is generally faster than the PB. HD is faster on PBs.
    Checkout a comparison: http://macspeedzone.com/html/hardware/machine/comparison/portable/powerbook/inde x.shtml
Also wifi reception and battery life are better on the iBooks and you can increase RAM up to 1.5MB, instead of the 1.2MB on the PBs.
All in all, the 12" iBooks have a petter performance/price ratio. If you prefer the look, want a better keyboard, need the faster processor or 64MB RAM, then take the 12"PB.

  • Compatibility between Yosemite and Photoshop / Bridge CS5.

I am concerned about the possibility of incompatibility between Yosemite and Photoshop / Bridge CS5 so have delayed updating my Mac. Has anyone updated, experienced problems and found solutions? What does  Adobe have to say in this regard?

I'm not sure I know enough to answer the question.
The images are on my G5 on a second internal hard drive (not the boot drive).
They are in a folder with a lot of images from the same shoot.
That folder shows up in the Library in Aperture, also. I think I imported them. But, as best I can tell, they do not "only exist in Aperture" because I can see them, and their .xmp files in the original file on the second internal hard drive.
Thank you so much for trying to help.

  • Sync AddressBook between iBook and iMac

    Hello everybody,
I am using an iMac and an iBook. On both machines I am using Mail therefore it would be nice to use the addresses which I have already entered into AddressBook iMac at the AddressBook iBook and vise versa.
Exist any tool which will do the job, or can I use the Automator of Tiger?
    Kind regards,
    Michael

    On the iMac:
Open the Sharing preference pane, click on Internet and enable sharing from Internal modem to Ethernet.
In the Sharing preference pane ensure that the firewall is off or enable web sharing.
On the iBook, configure the Network preference pane to use Ethernet and DHCP to get an IP address.

  • Issue with VPN compatibility between 2811 and 2911

         hello
I would like to ask anyone have had any issues with setting up a VPN tunnel between 2811 and 2911?
The IPSec VPN is established but for some reason I cannot ping the LAN side to the other LAN side of the other end of the VPN Router?
Any experience would be much appreciated
    Thanks

IPSec VPN can be with no problem set up between any cisco routers (and not nesesserely cisco),  so there are should be no issues in your case.
If you say that tunnel is established successfully, then problem most probably related to routing issues between sites or incorrect crypto-acl configured. Check if hosts on both sites have correct routing information on how to get to subnets on the other site.
To make more accurate assumptions it would help if you provide config on both sites and describe your topology.

  • Syncing PDFs between iBooks and iOS devices

    Hello everyone,
I just ordered an iPad Air. I wanted one for a long time, and one of the things that I am most after is the ability to read PDF documents anywhere I want. I have been organizing my eBooks and PDFs in iBooks, and I was under the impression that this meant I would be able to see the collection on my iOS devices and download them to those devices when I needed them. But I guess it's not that simple, is it?
As I don't yet have the iPad with me, I have been trying to sync what I see in iBooks to my iPhone 4S, but I only see one mqtching book on both the Mac and the iPhone, and that's one book purchased from iBooks itself. Then there's one free ebook that was also downloaded inside iBooks, from the computer, but does not show in the iPhone. Adding to this, none of the PDFs I have organized inside iBooks will show up on the iPhone.
Am I doing something wrong? Any of you successfuly organizing ebooks and PDFs in iBooks and seeing them on your iOS devices? What should I try?
I'm on the latest Mavericks update and all the mentioned apps are updated. Also, the iPhone is running the latest update of iOS7.
    Thank you so much.

Well, nevermind. It suddenly decided to start syncing, somehow! Not sure what I did to make it work though.
Anyway, this is still not what I was expecting. The only way to synchronize what I have in iBooks with the iOS devices, is through iTunes, and I need to be in the same network, right?
I thought this would be something more like iTunes Match, where I could have all my ebooks and PDFs up in the Cloud and download them to my devices whenever I needed them.
Do you know if there's any app providing this type of system?
    Thanks a lot.

  • Synchronizing deletions between iBooks and iTunes: bug?

    Hi everyone,
my iPad2 is configured so to auto-sync all pdfs I have in iTunes.
I delete a pdf on the iPad, then sync with cable.
    What I see is that
    1) iTunes switches to MANUAL pdf sync
    2) it builds up a list of pdfs to sync which (correctly) does not include the deleted items.
But this sounds like a giant bug, because
    1) all the books I add to iTunes from that moment on don't get copied;
    2) even worse, if I restore auto-sync for all books, then the deleted files reappear on the iPad (I have ~750 math articles...).
Is there a better procedure for deletion?
Otherwise, I'll give up using iBooks and switch to some more serious 3rd party application...

Ratings will only sychronise if you are updating your iPod automatically. If you are managing your songs manually then the iPod and iTunes are by definition not in sync. I have seen Apple Scripts and software for Mac that will sync information, you could try Google to see if anything similar exists for Windows.
    For info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • USB Flash Drive Compatibility between Mac and PC?

    Hi,
I own an iMac 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM and just got a new job where I'm using a PC. At work they all use flash drives to transfer data back and forth to computers etc. Would a flash drive (let's say a Kensington since that's the brand I've seen the most at work) that works in a PC at work be compatible with my iMac at home. I know Kensington makes them compatible for Mac and PC but just wondering how the data would transfer onto my Mac. Is it readable, does it depend what I'm transferring over?
    Message was edited by: spiralgirl

    {quote} guy there said they haven't yet perfected the flash drives to switch between Mac and PC and work well so I was a little surprised at this. {quote}
That is pretty much a standard reply you get from someone that doesn't know anything about macs. I've used those things for years without any problems, but I have been using my ipod as a disk lately because I always have it with me. It's also another less thing I have to buy and carry around.

  • Compatibility between CF7 and CF10

    Hi
We currently have two load-balanced servers running CF7 Enterprise Edition.  The applications use the Client Variable store, so that we can move users between servers as necessary (should one become busy / unavailable).
We now want to add a third server into the cluster.  This will have to be CF10 Enterprise Edition.
Does anyone know if the Client Variable store operates in the same way, or am I likely to have problems if I try and add this to the cluster?  Also, can anyone point me in the direction of looking at which CF tags (or tag attributes) have been deprecated between 7 and 10?
    Thanks
    Karl

I don't think you will find a list of differences between CF 7 and CF 10 from Adobe.  Maybe someone out there has compiled a list????  More likely you will need to read the release notes from each version and determine that way.

  • File compatibility between cs3 and cs5

    Hi,
What are the compatilibity issues between Photoshop CS3 and CS5?  Can they be used together without much (if any) issues?
    Thanks.

They can happily coexist on the same system, as long as you've got the disk space.  Photoshop has always been like that.
You'll only be able to run one at a time, at any given instant, though.
Regarding file compatibility, I don't how much it's required to open a file in Photoshop CS3, but the newer version does offer a "Maximize Compatibility" preference setting for saving .psd files.  On occasion I've opened .psd files in Photoshop CS3 saved by CS5 (using the aforementioned setting) and I haven't seen any issues at all.
