Compatability Final Cut Express/Macbook Ar/Conon VIXIA HF10- NOT

I studied with a 1-1 rep which camera to purchase that I could use for back pack jpournalism tht would work with my fabulos light weigh Macbook Air. I was directed to purchase a Canan (as above.) I hen purchased Final Cut Express software so that I could make a resonably high quality film. Although everywhere we searched seemed to clain they were cmptable it is a real big NO. Although the computer sees the camera and it's content it will not log and transfer. HELP!
PS Not sure about the stated OS below!

Check the FCE settings (usaer and system) are sensible, then make sure that the "Easy Setup" (oximoron for casual user) matches the files on your HF-10 (probably AVCHD to AIC 1920x1080i60. Don't take your video at 24p frame rate. Try again from scratch. If FCE still doesn't ingest, provide some details on the camcorder and FCE settings and what happens when L&T doesn't work..

  • Final Cut Express 4.0.1 bug

    Hello
Forgive me for my English language, I translated with Google Translate French into English ...
My problem: I have Final Cut Express 4.0.1, but there is a big bug! Sometimes hi just blend films is that the images are from the beginning to the end and the images of the end, are beginning ...
In addition to the keyboard shortcuts do not work all: The only people who are still walking in-i,-o for out, - space,-j-k-l to play. Others only work sometimes. The shortcut apple-q to quit Final Cut Express only works +/- once a month. And apple-c, apple-v and apple-x to copy / paste / cut never work. Furthermore, the customized presentation is scheduled, as it is in the menu bar in "window" between "sort" the choice "a custom layout" and "custom layout 2", but there is nowhere in implementing a button to save this presentation ...
Since there are throughout the web of people who have the same problem and there are people like yourself who do not have the same problem, but the same version as me, I think it is not a feature that is available in Final Cut Express, but in PRO. Moreover, all functions that do that on Final Cut Pro, are not displayed in Final Cut Express and custom layout function is displayed, so it's a programming error or something like that.
I asked for assistance on site programming and mac, but now they could not help myself. I also sent a half year ago, a message to Apple Final Cut Express section, but that they did not ("yet") responded.
    *Thank you*

Double-click the generator clip in the Timeline to load it into the Viewer. In the Duration window, change the duration to whatever you want. Go back to the Timeline and drag the right edge of the clip to fill the duration you entered.
Alternatively you can copy and paste the clip end-to-end to fill the same duration.

  • Lost Serial Number For Final Cut Express 3.5

Okay, here's the story. A long time ago (Like a year), on the left side of the finder window where library, documents, applications, etc. is, for some reason I accidentally dragged out the library icon. About a month ago I took the library icon from in the finder window into the left side of the finder bar. When I logged out and logged back in, my whole account had been reset. I was able to recover all my data, because it did not delete the data, it had only moved it. But all my applications were reset, including Final Cut Express 3.5. I have not used it since today. Today I tried to open FCE, and it asked me for my serial number. Since all my applications were reset, FCE thought this was the first time it was being opened. To get to the point, I no longer have the serial number. I looked for the information so I could get a new serial number (Support page URL http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1861), but I could not find the information. If I can never find the information, I can never open the application again unless I buy a new copy. If anyone can help me in any way to fix this problem that would be VERY helpful. Thank you.

If you have lost the serial number the only thing you can do is contact Apple with some kind of proof of purchase.

  • Aperture/Final Cut Express

    Hi
Anybody out there got any idea if the Aperture plug-in "Aperture to Final Cut Pro" will work with Final Cut Express
    Many thanks in anticipation
    Steve

Apparently not. Read the last line in this post:

  • How to Encoding MPEG Movie to be able to import into Final Cut Express

I have MPEG Movie video clips that were sent to me. Title dvdMovie1chapter26.mpg (21.6MB) given to me from a PC taken on dvd video camera and compiled on CD disk. I would like to edit in Final Cut Express 4.0. I can not import in present form. Have used HandBrake and Toast 8 to encode. Divx and AVI to grainy. Have tried to make QuickTime Movie but 21.6 MB file went to 115.6 GB. Not sure how to set QuickTime options (Formats-Audio-Video Setting) in Toast 8 to encode with good quality this file so I can import into Final Cut Express. I will not have enough disk space to do all the video clips at 110 GBs or more per file. When I drag this file into Toast 8 with DVD-Video selected the file come into Toast as a Video-MPEG-2 720x480 29.97fps and Audio- Dolby Digital, Stereo 48000Hz File. Any Ideas?

How long is the movie? DV is 3.6MB/second. Handbrake is no good for this. I don't know if Toast will do it, but you can try MPEG Streamclip. You want to export to QuickTime using the DV NTSC codec at frame size of 720x480 and 29.97fps.

  • Final Cut Express Serial with broken Mac

I bought Final Cut Express but lost the computer first (hard disc failure, not recoverable) and then my pack for the software with the serial. I do have a serial for Final Cut Express written down but it does not seam to work. Any idea what I can do?
PS I tried to contact Apple online but wasn't able to find any address where I can write my stuff to. I have a proof of purchase but whom can I ask? The support site looks like a labyrinth.

  • Final cut express osx 10.8.5

Hi - I recently bought an iMac and tried to open Final Cut Express but it asked me to enter my serial number. When I entered the serial number I received a dialogue box that said the number was not valid. I have verion 1.0.1 and the 3.5 upgrade discs. But without a disc drive on my iMac I can not reinstall. Does Final Cut Express run on OSX 10.8.5. Can someone suggest how I can validate and use Final Cut Express HD? Thanks...

Not 100% clear which version of FCE you are using:
You just referred to FCE 1.01l, then referred to FCE 3.5. That hasn’t worked in years, as I recall. I don’t remember the OS version it stopped working, I believe it was probably Snow Leopard.
You never actually said that you have FCE HD & whether you’ve tried that version. Best bet is check the Apple store about upgrading.
If it costs the same as the upgrade originally did - that’s $100 & a third of the way to Final Cut X, with FCE as a dead-ended product.
I’m running 10.9.3 (Mavericks) & Final Cut Express HD (4.01) works.
My most recent use was fairly light, but it worked all right. It worked just fine on earlier versions of the OS for me.
I can’t swear that everything works as well as it used to, but I haven’t noticed any big problems.

  • I am traveling with my macbook pro and I forgot to install final cut express and quicktime pro before I left. How can I in a way download them for free on my laptop from where I am

I am traveling with my macbook pro and I forgot to install final cut express and quicktime pro before I left. How can I in a way download them for free on my laptop from where I am? I need them and don't want naturally to buy them again!!!
    Thank you

Assuming you purchased QT Pro, you can always download it again at no extra charge by logging in to your Apple account.
Regarding FCE, there is no way to download & install the product.  You need an original FCE install disk and your FCE serial number.
Final Cut Pro X (aka FCPX) can be purchased & downloaded from the App Store.

  • I had final cut express 4 already installed on my new macbook but can't open it because it is asking for my serial number which is on the disc. I've put it in with and without dashes and dots and it won't accept it. What do I do?

I had final cut express 4 already installed on my new macbook pro at the shop but I'm trying to open it up and it wants my serial number. I've typed in the number on the disc labelled 'product serial number' but it won't accept it. The number has lots of dots and dashes in it and I've tried typing these as well, but to no avail. What can I do?

    You do need the dashes.
    Also double check that O & 0, I & 1 are not being confused.
The serial no. pretty much follows a three numbers then three letters approach.

  • Installing final cut express 3.5 onto macbook pro 10.8.4

My Final Cut Express 3.5 will not install onto my new macbook pro 10.8.4
Seems like an awful waste of money...
Does anybody know of a way around this?
    - or is there someone I can sue?!

There is a bug in the installer program that will not allow it to install into a Lion or Mt. Lion Mac.  However FCE 3.5 is a Universal app, which will run on Intel Macs without reference to Rosetta.
Due to its age, there may be some incongruities in this program when run in Lion or Mt. Lion.

How recently did you purchase this program; and did you purchase it new?  Have you been able to get use from this purchase on your previous Mac?
    peetapix wrote:

There are two methods to install FCE 3.5 into your Mt. Lion Mac:
    1)  Use Pacifist
    2)  Use Jeremy Johnstone's Terminal method for FCS2, but modified for use with FCE 3.5 (if you are able to figure out those modifications):

  • Adobe CS4/5 and Final Cut Express On a MacBook Air?

    Hey all
Im planning to get a MacBook for my GCSE's, and im leaning towards the air.
I will be running applications such as Adobe Photoshop CS5, After Effects CS5, Lightroom CS5, and Final Cut Express regularly, so would a 13" 1.86ghz MBA C2D Processor with 4gb of RAM be able to run these apps fast and efficiently with no lag? Or should I opt for the baseline MBP 13"? Im also looking for portability, as im going to be taking it into school
    Thanks

After effects!? Yikes... that is a beast of a program! Depends how in depth you plan on using it. Are you going to be doing 3D animations with several camera layers? If so, I don't think a MBP is going to work too smoothly. If you are doing basic to moderate use of AE functions then I think it would work fine.
Just a heads up before buying, check out the apple refurb store. They have a bunch of MBP with different specs for a very reasonable price. I got my 17" MBP from there and it works awesome with the same warranty as new... for like $500 off!

  • It is possible to load final cut express from my G5 to my new MacBook Pro

I have a G5 with final cut express 2 upgraded to 4.  I do not have the serial number for the express 2. Can I switch the program from  my G5 to my MacBook Pro by sharing computers.

The SLA would only allow one computer at a time to have the software installed.

  • Final Cut Express HD transfer from Intel to new Retina MacBook Pro

Final cut express HD will not open on new macbook retina using my intel version serial number.  Do I have to purchase it again!!?

RAM may be an issue, if you can upgrade it that may help.
Also, make sure all your Media is on an External Hard drive. It's not a good idea to have your media reading off the same drive as your Application.
You could also try Trashing your Preferences and see if that helps.

Yes you need to crossgrade to 5.1
The offer only lasts until the end of December and after that it'll probably go back up to $699.
Also I wanted to point out that you're in the Final Cut Express forum asking about Final Cut Pro. Not a huge deal but in the future you might get better results asking Final Cut Pro related questions in the Final Cut Pro forum.
i know that if you hit esc will run but it is to slow my hp 2.0ghz is faster
Your HP runs Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio Pro faster?!? Huh...Bwa?!?
By this I assume you mean your HP runs comparative programs faster (Avid)
