Compatability for transcribing on Mac - anyone have info?

Hi - I want to be a Medical Transcriptionist and use my awesome macbook I just purchased. They say that I need virtual office pc and a mac compatable footpedal (dictaphone). I really hope anyone out there has info and a success story about this working.
I need word processing software - does the macbook come with what I need or should I look into the bootcamp and downloading windows.
I just need to know what to do.

Virtual PC will not run on an Intel Mac, it is PowerPC only. For an Intel Mac, you would need Apple's Boot Camp to allow your Intel Mac to run Windows XP. Or you can use Parallels Desktop which will run Windows within OS X much like Virtual PC does on PPC Macs. For either Boot Camp or Parallels Desktop, Windows is not included & you would have to buy it separately.
Are you sure you even need to run Windows? You may only need Office: Mac.

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. Then select
Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

I have beeb trying to download and install firefox for my new MAC and have not been able to. It seems to download and won't install when I drag it to the application file. Nothing appears in the file. Is there something else I need to do?

I have downloaded firefox for my MAC OS X Lion, just purchased in December, and have done so several times but when I try to install it per the directions, nothing happens. The file that shows up says Alias in my applications and your instructions to Eject Firefox from the menu are not clear to me. Firefox does show up in the "Window" box but that's the only place it says firefox. Whenever I click on the folder, it seems to be emily. This installation process just doesn't seem to be working or either I'm not understanding it.

I need a driver for hp 35660a, does anyone have one?

I am lookng at purchasing an hp 35660A spectrum Analyzer and looked for a labview driver for it and couldn't find one. Does anyone know of any or is it hrad to develop a driver and could you point me in the right direction on how to do this. Thank You in advance!

I have also been unable to find a LabVIEW driver for this instrument, either from National Instruments or HP. If you are wanting to purchase this device, you will need to build your own driver. The process for creating one would depend upon its interface. For instance, is it GPIB, serial, etc.? Once you know this, you will need to know the commands which the instrument accepts and then build VIs which send these commands to the instrument. Then use these VIs as your driver.

Thanks for the replies. Unforunately none of those are really rugged enough for me. I want take a bullet rugged LOL. Im gonna be going from a rock to an iphone. Im sure all the brand makers will come out with vzw iphone cases. Ill probably just have to buy a cheap case till a sufficient rugged one comes out.

Thinking of switching to t-mobile. Way cheaper service for 2 lines. Anyone have experience with them?

T-mobile will give me 2 lines with unlimited calls, text, and data (slow data after 1 gig) for $80 per month. I'm paying about $160 now for 2 lines with 4 gigs. I'm pretty sure I'm going to give t-mobile a try but wanted to know if anyone has tried them and then come back to verizon.

Actually I don't set my expectations too high.
T-Mobile is bleeding money. They have raised their service rates, taking away corporate discounts for new customers, and basically are using gimmicks to gain short term revenue to just stay in the game.
The Wall Street Journal has stated Verizon and AT&T are on stable footing and have loads of customers and cash.
Sprint although having growing pains has all the Soft-bank capital it needs so that leaves T-Mobile who although maybe shaking up the industry are set to fail. They are in huge debt and borrowed against their stock, cash poor and the gimmicks they are using are short term.
Billing should be cut and dry. If I buy a service for $70 plus taxes and surcharges it then becomes $82 take away 15% corporate discount makes it $70 total each month. That is not rocket science.
I pay the same invoice to Verizon each month and it never changes except for a few pennies.
Not $70 this month, $85 next month, change the bill date mid stream and then have to pay -/+ $$ because of the bill change date etc. you get the point.
I am not a supporter of T-Mobile on any level. Terrible service and terrible coverage. I am thankful we just tried them for our spare line. They were the worst.

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data and also Clear History
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Do i have to buy Lion for my other macs? (Have them as preinstalled in a new mac)

I recently bought an iMac running Mac OS X Lion. I also have a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard (10.6.8).
I know that if you buy Lion from App Store you can install it on all your computers that you personally use.
I guess that is not the case when you buy a machine with Lion preinstalled. In order to upgrade my MBP, i have to buy Lion right?
I logged in from MBP in the App Store and Lion is not listed in my purchases (My MBP is eligible for upgrade).

Old school with CS2. Haven't used in a while and am unable to use the program as it says my serial number is invalid. Customer service tells me the server for CS2 has been shut down. Then they sent me here for help. Does anyone have any advice?

CS2 is very old and reached its "end of life" a while back. So probably won't run on modern operating systems. If you can still run it, you'll need to uninstall what you have and re-install with the download link below to activate it.

connector lines that follow the shapes when you move a shape
Shapes that snap to gridlines
The ability to move the whole diagram when desired (v. shape by shape, connector by connector)
Help available if you have problems
I don't need a lot of sophistication. It would be nice if it had some fun features - colors and fun connectors, etc.

I've not seen any reports indicating any issues with other apps either. I would strongly echo Larry's comments about App Store reviews, and reviews on download sites and forums up and down the internet. The great thing about the internet is that everyone has an opinion, that might also be the worst thing.
The problems with these comments are manifold: for a start, happy people are less likely to review, unhappy happy are much more inclined to. That's why we don't have thousands and thousands of posts on this forum from all the people who have no problems saying "look I have no problems". Unhappy people get cross and are more likely to express that anger in negative reviews.
Then what about the reviewer? What is his or her knowledge, experience and skill level? No doubt they are having problems, and real ones, but how do you know if their issues are problems with the app, their own inexperience, third party conflicts and so on. I've seen people on here claim the fact that iPhoto won't edit video is a bug. I've seen hundreds and hundreds of posts from folks on here who are certain they've found a bug, only for their glitch to be resolved. No review is worth anything unless you know something of the reviewer, his or her knowledge and experience.
So frankly, I never bother with those reviews on any such stores, not just iPhoto on the Mac App Store.
