Compatability.  Photoshop Elements 1.0  and Windows XP SP 2

I've just ordered a new Dell computer running Windows XP SP2(160GB hard drive ,1GB RAM). Will my Photoshop Elements 1.0 work on it? I prefer not to upgrade if I don't have to.

PSE 1.0 will definitely run on XP S2, but didn't I see a post from you somewhere else now asking about Media Center? You might have to experiment and let the rest of us know.

I'm using photoshop elements 2.0 and window vista.  when i want to crop i cannot enter any values in the width and height boxes.  the cursor won't enter.  same thing with resolution.  what did i do?  what's wrong?

The first thing you might try is resetting the Crop Tool by right clicking on the crop icon in the tool options bar and choosing Reset Tool.
If that doesn't work then the next thing is to reset the photoshop elements 2 settings file by holding down
the Shift+Ctrl+Alt keys just after clicking or double clicking on the pse 2 shortcut.
Keep holding the keys until a dialog appears ask if you want to delete the photoshop elements settings file
and click yes in the dialog.

  • Photoshop Elements 4.0 and windows 7 compatibility.

I just recently purchased a new computer with windows 7 on it and have been trying to get my tablet and art programs on it, one of which it PE4.0.  When trying to install it Im told that its incompatible, so I am wondering if there is someway to rectify this that doesnt involve buying a new version?

See this FAQ for possible workarounds:

  • Photoshop Elements 2.0 and Windows 7

I had been using Elements 2.0 on a Windows 7 OS for a couple years without issue.  Suddenly a couple months ago it stopped working.  I think there may have been a Windows update, but I am not sure.  I tried the suggestions on the forum by changing the compatibility settings and the virtual disk space but nothing helps.  It doesn't open at all now.  Any suggestions?  It is frustrating because I prefer the 2.0.  I have updated versions, but they are much "clunkier"!

The first thing that comes to mind is resetting the pse 2 preferences by going to:
    C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop\Elements\Photoshop Elements 2.0 Prefs
and dragging the folder Photoshop Elements 2.0 Prefs to the recycle bin.
Then start pse 2 and see if that works.
Make sure before trashing the above folder photoshop elements 2 is not running.

  • Photoshop Elements 4 & 5 and Windows Vista

I'm thinking about getting a new laptop. All of them come with VISTA at this time. Will I be able to run PSE 4 on a VISTA laptop?
Will PSE 5 run on VISTA?

    Lloyd,
The programme issued a message stating it couldn't find the file and suggested I should reload the programme. I inserted the Elements disc but Windows repeatedly asked me to insert Disc 1.
I found the dll file by doing a search.
I'm sorry to say that Vista is a pain in the you know what re compatibility issues and I cannot run some of my unsupported programmes on it!

Thanks! I read the message wrong and thought I could not run it at all.
Any article that says you can't run a program in Windows 7 that ran perfectly well in Windows XP or Windows Vista is suspect in it self and should be tossed out of your open window quickly.
Windows 7 is not any different from XP or Vista except that security is much better and the GUI is better but is all XP and Vista behind the hood.  I am running some DOS programs in Windows 7!!! Now this must be magic!!

How do I do that? I'm the only user on the laptop - I kind of assumed I already was running the install as the admin.

  • Photoshop Elements 4.0 to Windows 7 conversion

I would like to know if it is posssible to run Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 on Windows 7. It ran on Vista just fine but won't run on my new Windows 7 operating system. If a patch or other method is available, please pass it along.

You could try to run it in compatibility mode/ XP emulation. Beyond that I don't think youz will have much luck. It's simply too old and even if it would run, the compatibility issues with your system's drivers and security mechanisms will get on your nerves...

  • Installing photoshop elements 1.0 in windows 8.1

i cant install photoshop elements 1.0 in windows 8.1.Keep asking for internet explorer 4.I use compatibility windos 98/me and wont work either.

of course, elements 1 was not designed to be compatible with win 8.1 and it seems likely ms didn't design win 8.1 to be compatible with software that old.
you can upgrade to the current pse 12, http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements/buying-guide.displayTab3.html

  • Is adobe photoshop elements 11 compatiable with windows 8

Is photoshop elements 11 working with windows 8?

PSE 11 and Windows 8 and/or Outlook 2013 have several reported bugs.  For example Outlook 2013 and PSE 11 are incompatible because all features (for example Photomail) do not work.  Adobe will not support Outlook for email.  The user community is unsure of whether it is an Outlook or Windows compatibility problem - but it something!

  • Can I use Photoshop Elements 3.0 with Windows 7?

Can I use Photoshop Elements 3.0 with Windows 7?

Probably.  Install PSE3 and see if it works.  If not, you can always try setting PSE3's "Compatibility Mode" to XP.

  • What versions of Photoshop Elements are compatible with Windows 8?

What versions of Photoshop Elements are compatible with Windows 8?

Microsoft advises that all versions of PSE except versions 1, 3, 5 & 6 will work with Windows 8. The best option is a new computer with W8 and then do a clean install of Elements. Some difficulties may arise if upgrading the operating system on top of existing software. In those circumstances make sure you have your original disks or your download package, in case a re-install is necessary.
