Compatability with Altec Lansing inMotion player

Hi guys,
I am thinking of switching to the iPod fifth generation, but I have some concerns. Will the 60GB or 30GB iPod fit into my Altec Lansing player? I use the Altec Lansing inMotion IM3c.
I need to know if it will fit.
Thanks in advance!

Hi--
How can you tell if you have an IM3 or an IM3c? I'm in the same dilemma regarding upgrading to a 5G iPod.
Thanks!
Sharon
Following up on my previous post:
Altec Lansing customer support told me today that
they are to come out with an adapter for the Nano
first and sometime in the future should make an
adapter for the 5th gen ipods to fit the IM3. For
now, they said only the IM3c version will work with
the 5th gen ipods.
I had pointed out to the person I spoke with that
there appeared to be a lot of 5G ipod owners not
wanting to replace expensive speakers for lack of an
adapter. So, based on the age of a persons' IM3,
Altec Lansing may exchange an IM3 for an IM3c--as
they are doing for me. Now that's customer service!

  • Nano docking compatibility with Altec Lansing IM7 speakers?

I just bought Altec Lansing's terrific speakers for my mini - sounds easily as good as my friends Bose - and wonder if anyone knows if the nano is compatible with it. The mini just docks into it - not sure if the nano has identical docking "port" at bottom.
    Thanks

  • Using ipod classic with altec lansing inmotion im600

has anyone had any experience where the music just stops and the display goes to the battery full pattern while in the middle of playing music through a dock?
this has been happening with my ipod and it doesn't seem to happen when it's not connected to the dock.

it is possible you might have to buy an attachment...i think you have to do that with BOse speakers, but i'm not sure abou these

  • IPod nano and Altec Lansing inMotion im5, clicks between tracks?

When I'm using my iPod nano with the Altec Lansing inMotion im5 there are 'clicks' between the tracks. When I'm using my iPod headphone I don't hear these 'clicks'. What could be wrong?

I've been playing around with my iPod nano and the im5 speaker system. I guess that the clicks might be caused by a gap (longer than 5 seconds) between the songs. It would have been no problem when the iPod should have a crossfade playback like iTunes has. I haven't heard the clicks when I use the iPod dock. The one I heard was just a strange end of a song....sorry!

  • Does ipod touch 4th generation work with Altec Lansing Octiv Mini Executive Edition?

i want to buy a speaker and i wonder if my ipod touch 4th generation work with Altec Lansing Octiv Mini Executive Edition
    plz answer

If anyone is interested I managed to solve this problem by reformatting the ipod as a mac ipod, with the help of friends system. This does get rid of the music but as I had it backed up wasn't a problem. I then plugged the mac Ipod back into a windows pc and reformatted it as a windows ipod which updated the firmware correctly and have'nt had a problem since.

  • Do the Altec Lansing inMotion iM600 Speakers work with 80GB iPod Classic???

I have already bought these speakers and now I am worried that they might not work with my new iPod. On the website, it does not say that it is compatible with the new iPod classic, but its doesn't say that its not either. Just incase you don't know what speakers I'm talking about, its this one: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/canadastore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=E2 856423&fnode=home/shopipod/ipodaccessories/speakers&nplm=TM019LL/A
    PLEASE HELP!!!

I'm beginning to think that speakers should work with the Classic ipods because they don't need software to run??? You connect them to the ipod using a dock or a lead. I think the issue with the camera connector could be to do with the software that it uses to transfer photos from camera to ipod.
I'm looking at speakers which'll either be the soundtraveller k3000 or the Altec Lansing Orbit. Both are within budget and have decent battery life although the latter doesn't appear to be able to run off mains but has longer battery life.
What I might do is email the 2 companies and ask or even possibly phone them as both are UK based.

  • Elite 700-214 with Altec Lansing 5.1

My PC supports 5.1 sound, but with only a mic, input, and output port how does one get a 5.1 system to work?  My Altec Lansing 251 has only a yellow, black, and green cable.  Beats supports 5.1 natively on the integrated card, but I can't figure out how this 5.1 works with only a green port.

  • Ipod + Winxp MCE Docking Issues(using Altec lansing Inmotion speakers)

    hi:
im new to this kind of things(posting in forums) i like to share an issue and some stuff that help me out to solve them, and ofcourse a part that is not solved. here it comes.
i buyed and ipod clickwheel a year ago 40gb model(im not sure of what generation it is), it was working fine with my G5 i use a Inmotion speaker system(not im500 or im7 just a plain inmotion) and while i used the firewire cable with,it give me no trouble, recently i stop using my G5 for handling the ipod and switched to a brand new pc i brought it has Windows XP MCE (2002 SP2+up to date fixes) there is when all my troubles began, first it was amazingly hard to configure it, i mean the ipod was in HFS(MAC native file system) i will list down the issues and how i solved them in order.
1.- windows was unable to recognize it, i got an error message about "windows cant recognize the USB device".
Solution: after various attemps i decided to plug it without the Inmotion speaker system and yes it worked, windows did recongnize it
2.- after that i tried the restore option from "ipod for windows 2.0" and i got the folder and exclamation logo on the ipod, after the restoration process began and say that i have to unplug it and let the firmware flash occurs (i unplugged it ) i got the folder and exclamtion icon on the screen.
Solution: i tried the Mac/Ipod updater 2006-06-28 and it worked fine, i got the message to unplug the ipod for a firmware flash( after checking battery was full charged) and with that software it worked fine it finished and windows was able to see it,FAT32 SYTEM FILE.
3.-THE UNSOLVED PROBLEM: i been trying to break my head open why when i use the Inmotion speaker system as a bridge between the ipod and the PC( using a USB 2.0)
windows is not able to recognize it it says "windows cant recognize the USB device"(or something like it) other curious stuff is that i tried to plug it to an older PC i have i believe and Intel D850 motherboard P4/1.7Ghz that is able to see/detect the IPOD even when i plug it using the Inmotion speaker system, it says something like" USB device of high speed detected, it will work with decreased speed" but still it is able to SEE IT, while my brand new PC cant, i tried another P4/2.4Ghz and it cant detect the device(using the Inmotion speaker system). Why do i seek any words of wisdom, because those 2 speaker where very expensive here(im in bolivia right now) and i want to break them to bits, i use the inmotion as my charger station and i tend to play my songs from there it was practical i shouldn´t have buyed a 150$ bucks gadget if it wanst.
HELP: i will apreciate any help that all you may provide, i hope that all the steps above helps anyone that might have some related issues and dont use a expensive spekaer system as bridge. , and yes i will like to solve it, after all those 2 little speaker really sound great.
PD: i have tried plug it other USB 2.0 ports i have, i even tried to make it work iwthout the DC power( Inmotion speaker system, not Inmotion plus or IM5 just a plain Inmotion) cable plugged if anyone have a similar issue and need more details please let me know, and my most sincere apoligies for my english,to say the truth is not my native languaje and thanks in advance for any help.

  • Altec Lansing imMini no longer works with Nano

    Hey,
I have a the Altec Lansing imMini speakers - which I originally bought for my Mini. When I bought the Nano, the speakers worked perfectly - though the Nano was slightly off-center. Recently, it only works occasionally (after a few plug/unplugs). Now, it doesn't seem to work at all.
The Nano still charges but no sound comes out (except the pathetic squeaking sound that the iPod makes when it first connects to the speakers).
Anyone else experienced similar erratic problems with Altec Lansing speakers - or in fact, anything at all that connects to the dock-connector?

Thanks dwb - it seems to have done the trick (for now, anyway!) Really appreciate your help.

  • Will the TX work with an Altec Lansing IMT1 speaker dock

    Hi all,
I have a palm tx and an altec lansing inmotion (imt1) speaker dock.  When i plug my TX into it, i cannot hear any sounds through the imt1 speakers.  I can only hear sound through the rear speaker on the TX.  The battery symbol has a lightning bolt through it, so i assume that it is making a connection to the dock and is charging.  I am only using the main docking part, and not any other cables to make a connection between the two.  The imt1 is powered on, and the setting is turned to the music setting.  Hope that someone can help me out here.  thanks

i havent tried it, but i dont see any reason it wont work.

  • IPod Classic Compatibility With Third-Party Sound Dock

I own a TEAC Micro HI-FI CD-X10i and I was wondering if it would work with an iPod classic 160GB. I was considering purchasing an iPod classic (I already own a 5.5 G 80GB iPod). Has anybody tried using third-party audio systems with docks? If you have, please respond.

    Hey Funky,
I have a Bose SoundDock (from 2005) and my Classic-160 works like a charm with it. It also works fine with my Altec-Lansing inMotion portable speaker unit.

  • Altec lansing

Bought an Altec Lansing inMotion audio system for my ipod. Played songs on it last night and suddenly music just stopped. I thought mauybe the battery was not being charged while iI played the music. I plugged the ipod into my pc and now I get the circle/diagonal flashing thing and do not disconnect message. I have tried resetting using the menu and select button simultaneously.
Questions: Does anyone know if th battery is being charged on the ipod when using the altec inmotion?
    What should I try next?

I called Altec Lansing customer service. I was told that this is a known problem with video ipods. (fifth generation?) He told me I need to call a toll free number 866 570 5702 ext. 1210 on Monday.
Does anyone know the number for apple/ipod customer service? I tried live chat but i get an error message that says my serial number does not match the product. I double checked the serial number....

    Hello MeetDave,
Take a look in your Maintenance and Service Guide Manual, which should list all replaceable parts, part numbers, etc.  When I check the "product specifications" page, it says, "SRS Premium Sound with Altec Lansing speakers."
If the parts can be replaced, you will find them at HP Partsurfer
    Good luck!

  • Is Altec Lansing InMotion3 compatible with Ipod Nano

I have tried the Nano with IM3 today in a store, it can plug in the docking connector and sounds perfectly OK but the store staff warns me that IM3 is not certified to be compatible with Nano. Nano may be prone to physical damage when using with IM3. His words have scared me off but currently I find the IM3 the only available speakers with dock that suit my needs. Any help here?

According to Altec Lansing's Web site, the InMotion series is compatible with our nanos!
I do not quite understand your salesperson's paranoia. I bought a Griffin 12VDC car charger for iPods...Although it doesn not state, "For nano!" on the packaging, it works fine.
