Compatability with norton tool bar?

I would like to update but untill you are compatable with norton toolbar i can't

hello v2fish2, actually it works the other way round - 3rd-party-developers which want to hook into firefox have to make their addons compatible.
symantec has a pretty good track record in making their product compatible whenever there is a new version of firefox released, so they should already be compatible to firefox 18 (run symantec liveupdate to obtain their latest version):

  • Firefox 15 not compatible with Norton Tool bar, is there going to be a fix?

When will you fix this problem with Norton's Tool Bar compatability? I use this feature all the time.

I had Firefox 18 that crashed with Windows 8, and I also had my Norton toolbar. However, I removed 8 and installed back 7 (Windows), and Norton disappeared. Therefore,I went to Firefox 15 and my bar was back. It was back for the past 2 days, and now it is gone, out of the blue. I have the new Comcast Norton 360 and it has been updated - but my bar is gone. I want my bar and it is the only bar for privacy that I trust. I prefer Firefox 18, if I can have it with my Norton bar. Any ideas? I am not able to go to add on's and click onto "enable" because it states that it is incompatible with Firefox 15, therefore, there are no enable or disable buttons. What is going on?

  • When will firefox 4 be compatable with comcast tool bar?

firefox v4 indicates that comcast tool bar is not compatable with firefox v4. was ok with 3.6.16 so what's up and when will it be fixed.

That's something that Comcast needs to fix.

  • Are you going to reestablish compatibility with the Norton tool bar?

Are you going to reestablish compatibility with the Norton tool bar?
Version 4 seems to have lost this compatibility, which version 3 had.

It is down to Norton to make their add-ons compatible and they are working on it. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about the time scale for updates for other Norton products. Pending the update by Symantec, if you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

  • I received notification of a new update to Firefox, but did not install it due to losing my Norton Tool Bar. I am now receving messages to update Firefox. How can I update this and keep my Norton Tool Bar? It has my logins and websites.

When I received notification (about a week ago) to install the latest update to Firefox, the update stated that I would lose the Norton Tool Bar with the installation of the update. The issue is that I use the Identity Safe feature in the Norton Tool Bar for the majority of my logins. To lose this feature would be a hardship. Is there any way I can maintain the Norton Tool Bar?

  • I put firefox 4 on my computer but had to remove it since it did not allow the Norton tool bar which identifies safe and dangerous sites. will that featurre be available

The norton tool bar feature which identifies problem sites
(safe web) is a good tool and has saved us from many problems.
From past experience I feel it is something I must have.
I loaded firefox 4 and while I like the program I removed it
because of the lack of that feature but would like to use FF4.

That's not good enough, Tony! Firefox should have let me know before I downloaded the firefox 4. Now I can't go back to the 3.6 or what ever it was. I have gone back to IE until FIREFOX resolves the issues of compatibilty with Norton. I love my norton and will not go without it for even one day!
    Adios!

  • My norton tool bar has not loaded when I switched from IE to Firefox

My Norton tool bars, for phishing and Identity Safe, disappeared when I switched from IE to Firefox. I reloaded Norton to see if this would help but nothing changed.

You can import the IE Favorites via
*Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Data from Another Browser
You can also export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.<br />
That way you also preserve any sorting that you may have done in IE with the Favorites.
    * Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
    * Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File

  • Is Norton Tool Bar supported by any Firefox version(s)?

I previously used some of the lower numbered versions of Firefox. The versions which I have used didn't support Norton Security; especially '''Norton Tool Bar.''' Are there any versions of Moxilla Firefox that DO support the Norton Tool Bar with its "Identity Safe" feature?
    Thank you

Norton supports Firefox 10, for details see this article from Norton support - http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Firefox-10-Support-for-Norton-Toolbar/td-p/648241

Firefox 6.0 is the current version.
Get what denoted in what properties link.
You can get the version number in Help -> About Firefox,
and in '''about:support''' typed into the Location bar, and you can use JavaScript to list the user agent -- javascript:navigator.userAgent
I'm not aware of any version of Firefox from Fx 2 on up to Fx 6 where "AVG Safe" is not a problem. Crashes aren't the only failures caused.
