Compatable Monitor for G4 Quicksilver with Radeon 9200

OK, I have an old Apple G4 Quicksilver and upgraded the video card to a Radeon 9200 128 MB for Mac. I had a converter to hook up the Radeon 9200 to the original 17 inch monitor with not that great of results. What monitor do you guys recommend to replace the original Apple monitor and use the Radeon 9200? Thanks!

The computer should heve two graphics connectoes: VGA and ADC (Apple Display Connector).

You can attach a VGA display to the VGA connector.
There are adapters to connect DVI displays to the ADC port.

Any display up to 1920 x 1200 should work.  You should check for any updates for your graphics card.

  • Best Monitor for a Quicksilver/TwinView Combo?

    Hi,
I have a Quicksilver running Tiger, with a GeForce2 TwinView (64MB, Quartz supported, Core not supported). I use 9.2.2 and OSX, on separate drives.
I don't want to spend a lot more money on the machine - I just put in a Mercury Extreme 1.47 processor upgrade. But, I would like a good quality image, as my old CRT is starting to hurt my eyes.
I'm trying to locate a monitor I can run at a high refresh rate - above 100Hz, with at least a resolution of 1024 x 768 - using the current card, if that's possible.
If not, I would be interested in options you think are effective and cost conscious.
    Thanks for your time.
    J.C.

    Hi again!
With an LCD Monitor, Refresh Rate is moslky academic... 60MHz will appear as solid as CRTs needing 120MHz, and actually require less CPU time.
Watt usage is far less also.

  • External monitor for macbook pro with dead screen

Macbook pro built in 2007 has a dead screen but is otherwise ok. Connected external monitor displays only the astral starburst screen on all macs. How can I get the monitor to display my desktop if I can't see the macbook screen?

Connected external monitor displays only the astral starburst screen on all macs.
Then it is working as designed.
By default, the external screen is combined with the built-in screen into an Extended Desktop, as seen in the Arrange tab below. You need to (Gather Windows) to get all controls on all displays, then drag the tiny white MenuBar to the display where you want it to appear. Then things will begin to operate as you expect.

  • Approved Quicksilver with 3000 CL after EO

First post, long time lurkerI have done a lot of research on line with credit and FICO scores and I have to say, I got the best information and advise from this Forum. So BIG thanks to everyone!!! A little background about me... Until December 2014, I had no credit whatsoever, never bothered to use one. I tried signing up for a few CC a few years back, but always got denied. Exacerbated by the fact that I have almost the same name as my father, so even though I am an authorized user on 3 CC's with excellent credit history, it never showed up on my file; Even now LOL. No student loans or installment loans, my file with the CRA's is probably razor sharp with how thin it is.Started my credit journey with the Capital One Secured credit card on 12/2014 with a CL of 200, a month later I deposited 1000 to raise my limit to a total of 1200. I charge 1400 on the card on average, but always paid in full, making sure that my account only reports less than 10% utilization. On 6/20 CapOne gave me a CLI of 300 On 6/17/2015 I applied for the Barclays Apple Rewards  and was approved for 3000 CL. Against my carefully laid out plan, I decided to go on a mini app spree. Checked multiple sites for pr-qualified offers; It was a negative for Chase, Amex, and US bank; but CapOne showed I qualified for Venture and Quicksilver Visa.I remember clearly Quicksilver Visa requires "Excellent" credit, not Limited 6 month credit history with 2 accounts; 1 was just recently approved. Brimming with confidence of my recent success, I decided to apply anyway... I ended up with the 7-10 days letter The pre-qual result was probably a glitch. Not loosing hope, and not wanting to waste 3 hard inqueries, I decided to scrounge "the" Forum for an alternate recourse. Lo and behold, information on the forum led me to CapOne's Executive Office. Sent and email explaining my full situation and my excellent payment record even though I had a short history. I informed them that I had made a mistake applying for the Quicksilver Visa and, if possible, to use the already generated credit report on a Quicksilver One Application instead.Nicole from the EO team got back to me after 4 business days and informed me that, unfortunately, because they are 2 different products (Quicksilver and Quicksilver One) I would have to resubmit an application and suffer another 3 hard pulls. Another option was that she can forward my current app to the Credit Underwriter for a recon and a soft pull. After asking for additional info (ie. Income, Rent, other Investments) I was told to wait for an email on the Final Decision. Yesterday, with all hope lost, I received my approval email for the Quicksilver with 3000 CL and no annual fee!!! Woohoo!!!I wil now be gardening until at least July next year, hopefully by then, I will manage to get Chase Freedom and an Amex Card; Perhaps a Visa Signature Card too, if I'm lucky. So a BIG thankyou to Everyone on the myFICO forums for contributing to the wealth of knowledge and informtion that enabled me to be where I am right now and acheive the results I have!!!

  • Recommend anti-glare LCD monitor for MBP 13

Hello, I need a decent quality antiglare type monitor to be the external monitor for graphics work with my MacBook Pro 13 inch unibody. I just tried an HP ZR24w but was not able to get it working. The monitor would light up for one second and my desktop showed, then it would immediately go dark. Apple support could not help, HP support  kept me on hold for 45 min. and then dropped my call.
Unfortunately Apple no longer makes antiglare monitors for its graphics professional community. If they did I would buy an Apple monitor. I am currently using an old Apple Cinema Display but it has a bad case of creeping screen defects and looks terrible.
Is anyone out there sucessfully using an external monitor with MBP that has an antiglare screen, does 1920 x 1200 res and has an IPS LCD?
The usual suspects that people recommend for graphics work in the mid-range are Dell ultra-sharp and HP LP2475w. Since I do less graphics work than I used to I thought the ZR24w would be a good affordable option, however since I could not get it to work I am concerned that none of these other monitors will be compatible either. Buying and returning vis mail order is expensive... would really appreciate hearing what other people are using.
Please let me know what connector you are using. I tried the ZR24w with both DVI and displayPort but neither of these options work for me. Apple tech support was stumped and blamed it on HP.
    Any thoughts?
    TIA!

There should be a anti-glare option on ALL Mac's, however the 13" is certainly the next prime candidate for one given that they rolled out anti-glare for the 17" first, then the 15" next.

  • Any way to motion with ATI Radeon 9200

    Hi
I have the old mac mini g4, and I know I have all of the correct requirements for the program Motion except for the graphics card which is I think, ATI Radeon 9200. Is there abseolutely any way of getting it to run onmy computer. (Hack or not! Don't care!)
    Thanks...

    Heya,
Not sure what that bit about needing a 256MB card is...my PowerBook G4 with a 64MB card works well enough. The real requirement is a card that supports pixel shaders (how Motion does its image processing). Apple's GPU checker utility (found on the Motion page) will tell you if your GPU can do pixel shaders.
Having a second monitor that doesn't support pixel shaders can cause some wackiness. If you keep the Canvas and Inspector windows off the secondary (unsupported) display, you'll probably be OK. But if Motion has to draw anything on the unsupported display, the card can't do it. It might crash, draw garbage, or even collapse the universe.
    OK, not that last one.

  • Radeon 9200 Dual Monitor Setup

Hello! I have a powermac G4, 466 digital audio that has the default graphics card on AGP. I also have an ATi Radeon 9200 series that is PCI. Would I be able to use both cards at the same time? The Radeon isn't the mac edition, but would the drivers for the mac version work?
    Thanks, Ben

Running two cards and having two monitors is a great setup if you have the room for it on your desk.
I am not sure about your specific card. Mac-compatible cards have software on the card which I believe acts as the driver, and putting a pure PC card in your Mac will not work (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). I have seen reference to "flashed" PC cards where somebody took a PC card and then wrote Mac firmware to the card so they would now work on a Mac, but you'd need to check if that had been done with your card.

  • How do I use my late 2011 iMac ( with thunderbolt) as external monitor for laptop/Xbox or other device with hdmi as output.

May be this question has been asked thousand times. how do I use my mid 2011 iMac ( with thunderbolt) as external monitor for laptop/Xbox or other device with hdmi as output. if apple hasn't removed that feature and has just moved that functinoality to thunderbolt then how can I use it. currently there is no laptop available with thunderbolt output. no 3rd party converter available. whats the use of having feature on latest functionality if we cant use it. I wish they would have made one port has mini-dvi and other thunderbolt for backward compatibility untill some vendor comes up with converter.

    It Says :
Mac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011) and iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) and later computers support Target Display Mode via Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt cable (2 m) when the source is another Thunderbolt-equipped computer.
Name one computer model/vendor which has thunderbolt as output for display + audio. this is so stupid to move to new technology without availbility of its compatible devices.

  • Can i use an apple display with an ati radeon 9200?

so, i have an old mac (bw g3 w/ g4 upgrade) and an old crt monitor (power computing 17"). the monitor is showing it's age and looks like it has maybe a month left.
i can't afford a new mac right now as much as i would love to get an imac. but i will need a monitor so my question is can i buy/use an apple 20" monitor with my ati radeon 9200 video card?
    thanks

My Mac mini (according to my system profile) has that same graphics card and it runs the monitor just fine, can get a bit choppy with Expose but thats neither here or there.
Im not sure where in the world you live but in the UK a 20" ACD is almost the same money as a 17" iMac, that way you get your dream pc and a nice new Widescreen display.
Hope you enjoy whatever you choose.

  • G4/QS  128 radeon 9200 mac edition & 24" monitor

Hello everyone!I just bough a 24" samsung lcd/tft display.I have the radeon 9200/128 agp card. This card is the PC version, flashed to work in the G4.When I 'm playing a tv show i downloaded and when i choose full screen the black seems to have bloches of purple and small amounts of green. But when i stand back a little it looks more black. When i play it at normal size it looks great.Do i need a bigger and better card to play it on full screen mode? Thanks,John

I think you may have been a little confused by my suggestion...I was not suggesting that you change your monitor setting to 640 x 480 +and leave it+. For example, my monitor is at 1680 x 1050 when I run all my apps and whatnot. When I watch movies, I simply open the movie I want to watch, then change the resolution of my display to the appropriate size and then enter full screen mode in the player. Trust me, the movie will look much much better. Then after I'm done, I switch back to the normal resolution.
This is why the movie looks so good at normal size-it is running at it's native resolution. You need to change your monitor's resolution to that which is the resolution of whatever video it is that you are watching if you want full quality. Yes, this means that there is an unwanted step of changing resolutions back and forth whenever you want to watch videos. But it is worth it if you want to get full quality.
One suggestion if you decided to use this method-if you go to the displays pane in system prefs, there is an option to "show displays in menu bar". If this box is checked, a little monitor icon will be placed in the menu bar to the left of the time. This menu will make it much easier to switch between resolutions you often flip between, so you don't have to constantly open the system prefs window. In the bottom of the menu, there is an option to change the number of recent items so you can have even more resolutions that you use often stored there. It makes changing resolutions much quicker. =)
Trust me this will work - I do it whenever I am watching movies.

  • Radeon 9200 Compatibility problem?

    Reference my last post https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threadid=70391
Before RMA'ing the motherboard, I borrowed a generic FX5200 from a freind's computer and put in my neo2 Platinum board and it posted just fine and booted into a dos partition that i have configured for testing.  Does this mean that an ATI Radeon 9200/128MB card will not work in this motherboard, or is there still an issue with the motherboard?  I also tried two PCI video cards for grins and giggles and they would not work either, just got the one long and two short beeps during post.
Can anyone shed any light on this?  Do I need to contact MSI technical support?  ATI technical support? The model number on the 9200 is 102A0621300 088717
    Thanks,

MSI sent me a new BIOS w7025nz101.  To apply it, I had to boot with another video card (nvidea chip set).  Once applied, I rebooted to confirm system still boots.  Installed 9200 and rebooted, system posted and booted into my test partition just fine.  Booted several times succesfully.  As I had installed xpsp2 in another partition with the nvidea card i put it back in and went into the os to do some things and to prepare to update my primary partition with the new motherboard.  Shut down, replaced nvidea card with the 9200 and the system again will not post.  Tried several times, but no go.  Re-applied the BIOS (had to put nvidea card back in to do this) and re-installed the 9200.  Same problem, the system will not post with the 9200 installed.  Why it posted the first time on the new BIOS is a puzzle to me.
To answer wingie, I entered a support request on the miscomputer website via a web form.

Thanks to Bobthefisherman & Turbostar.  Turns out I've got a corrupted disk (which I found out via "verify disk" on Disk Utility First Aid.  Previously, I never thought to verify disk -- only to repair permissions -- so I never knew my HD had been corrupted.
Wasn't able to do a clean install of OSX10.6 because my SuperDrive only sporadically will load discs, so I am taking it to the Apple Store to see if they can do a clean install, and depending upon costs, get the Superdrive replaced.
The HD wasn't partioned by the way.  And I did have just over 40GB of contiguous space.
    Thanks again.

  • I'm trying to set up a dual monitor for my new iMac. I'm using a second display I used with my old G5. My iMac recognizes the second monitor but the monitor won't turn on. Power button doesn't do anything on the monitor itself.

If it won't turn on then the monitor is dead (power supply?, video circuits?).  Not worth repairing.
If you have a new iMac then it has thunderbolt.  So exactly what is that monitor you are trying to connect?  For TB you can connect a mini-displayport monitor.   Probably (not 100% sure with TB) can use dvi or vga too if you have the appropriate adapter.

  • MacBook Air with MiniDP as external monitor for 27" iMac

    Hi,
I just found out, that the new iMacs can be used as external displays for MacBooks with MiniDP.
Now I'm considering to buy an 27" iMac, but I've one question:
As my MacBook Air is much slower than an iMac, I was wondering if I could get my MBA (or any ohter MB) in Target Display Mode, with the Command/F2 key combination?
I know about ScreenRecycler, but I want something that works right out of the box;)
As you can connect 2 iMacs together and use either one in Target Display Mode, I hope the same will be possible with an iMac and an MBA
    Thank you

You can put the 27" in target display mode to act as a monitor for the MBair but the reverse is not true. You can't make the MBair a monitor for the iMac 27".

  • To use imac 27 late2009 as monitor for macbook pro 13 rethina with thunderbolt cable

when i us a thunderbolt cable from mac book pro rethina to my imac 27 late 2009 nothing happen, even with command F2 i can not use the imac as monitor for the mcbook pro

You have got a problem: your iMac does not detect Thunderbolt cables because it has got Mini DisplayPort instead. However, you can use your iMac as a display for your MacBook Pro.
To do this, you need to get a Mini DisplayPort cable like this one and connect it to your iMac and the MacBook Pro. Then, press Command and F2 keys on your iMac and it will show up as a screen for your MacBook Pro.
