Compatibility between MSI i7 boards and Corsair DDR3 RAM kits?

Similar issues from other posters: Thread 1, Thread 2
Are there any known compatibility issues between MSI's Intel i7 boards and Corsair's 1600 DDR3 triple-channel kits?
My brother's machine (which has been discussed here before last time I tried to fix it) is still having trouble, and also uses the same type of RAM as the two threads above. The symptoms are:
1) Occasional lockups, followed by a reboot
2) Inability to POST: the machine will try numerous times, rebooting each time (as in threads 1 and 2), followed (eventually) by the POST saying "the previous overclocking has failed and the BIOS is reset to default settings" - as in thread 1. The machine will then (normally) boot. Reducing the RAM speed increases the chance of a successful boot, but the settings don't stick (presumably they are wiped when the BIOS is reset to the default settings). Cold boots (after the machine has been switched off overnight) tend to be the most likely to fail.
Any ideas what could be causing this, if not an incompatibility with the RAM (in 3-channel mode)? Dropping down to one stick stabilises the system, but at the expense of dropping to a mere 2GB of RAM.

Out of seven MSI X58 boards, none had a problem with Corsair sticks. With the 1600's running at 1066, they should only require default (1.50v) auto voltage. They should also work using settings of 1N 9 9 9 24 without issue. As the CPU IMC only natively supports 800/1066, your particular CPU may have a limitation of working any higher. But, something is not right within the system if it will not run the RAM at 1066. To rule out a bad stick, test with just one in the black A0 slot, & swap it out & test the other two individually. As far as DRAM voltage, if all the sticks check out ok, try raising it to 1.55V. Keep the forum updated on your progress.
Added: Make sure 'Spread Spectrum' is disabled in bios Cell Menu, as well as 'Extreme Memory Profile' if your bios has it listed.
Are they 2GB sticks? (All the threads in question use the 2GB sticks - one 3×, and one 6×)
Back around the time I tried the BIOS flash as the solution, I Memtest86'd each of the sticks individually in the MSI-recommended slot for a single-stick configuration, and each tested perfectly. Part of the advice given at the time was to disable XMP and Spread Spectrum; they already were.
Whilst I can't be certain that the RAM is the problem, at least three threads on this board now are using 2GB Corsair 1600 sticks and having strikingly similar symptoms...
I'll try investigating the voltages later today. Thanks!

  • Compatibility between MSI NX6600GT-VTD128 and motherboard

Hi guys, I want to know if there's compatibility between my motherboard "MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R AGP8X" and the "MSI NX6600GT-VTD128" because I want to buy this Video Card but my doubt is about the compatibility or maybe some errors, and I have a 400W Power Supply.. that's ok for this video card?... thnx !!!

    hi, how are you.
wel there are no cmpatibility issue with this motherboard and the video card... or i am not notify about...
but do you have to give "us" (all posiblle reply) more info about your pc, anyway the only limitation about it's the slot used, that motherboard uses agp8x and you have to buy a 6600vtd agp 8x, because thera are one model pci express that's all
the power issue: not a issue realy 400w power source are just enough
th real monster are hte 6800 family that need  470w or something like that to work fine
ok i hope  best to you and your newer card, and tellme how works this magnificent piece of technological art(in middle rank) and the capture feature with onchip video processor

something like a 990FXA-GD80 v2 (overclocking board) is more recommended for those high TDP CPU's as the power delivery on them is much more overbuilt so can easily handle the power the chip needs and has much larger coolers on the VRM's! that is a much safer idea!
FX cores are not very well designed and always exceed under there boost clock the MAX rated TDP they have (usually add 10W to the rating and its closer to true value it runs at) FX 2 core module on the chip is 1 full core and a Half core that is not fully formed and that seems to have a strange effect on there power draw!
So with honestly, Do you recommend me fx 8350 with this mainboard? I like fx 6300 too (I like tdp 95 that possess it).  I will use it to gaming and occasionally photo and video editing.  But always gaming.
    Thanks you.

  • The cable between the logic board and the 3G board  was removed can I convert it to a Wifi only?

I have a Ipad 2 3g. someone detached the cable between the logic board and the 3G board can I convert it to a Wifi only?

The ipads that have 3g have an extra section attached to the logic board by a glued on wire. I bought this at a tag sale. Someone was apparently trying to repair their iPad and they did not know that when you removed that glued strip attaching the 3g antenna to the logic board you would never be able to re-atach it again later. So basicaly my 3g logic board is now in two pieces. the main logic board with wifi and the cdma 3g antenna. Now their is no differnce between the logic boards in either wifi only or wifi and 3g devices. I attempted to restore the device with the ios for wifi only, because there are 3 different ios versions depending on if you have wifi only wifi 3g with SIM card, or wifi 3g cdma.

How can I findout about the compatibility between the iPhone 6 and certain vehicles, and the hands free connectivity in those vehicles?
I am interested in the iPhone 6 but have several meetings that have to call into for work.  Where can I find out about the compatibility with iPhone 6 and if there are issues I need to be aware of for connecting to hands free option in the car?
Please point me to the right direction. The dealership was useless in helping me. I figured Verizon can be more helpful.

        ShaM1,
I understand the importance of the bluetooth compatibility between your new device and your car.  What make and model is your vehicle?
Here is the information that Verizon Wireless has on Bluetooth Car Kit compatibility; http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/how-to-use-bluetooth-car-kit-compatibility/.  However, Apple does not have any information listed here.  We can assume that the latest and greatest iPhone 6 has the technology to be compatible with most vehicles.  If you'd like to discover further information I'd suggest contacting Apple directly; 800-275-2273.

  • MSI x58 ProE and Corsair 12GB (3x4GB) RAM Issues

    Greetings!
New poster here with a question that I cannot seem to find an answer to anywhere. I've looked over the forums but have had no luck figuring it out. My goal is to identify the culprit and replace the appropriate parts.
I built this computer in 2009 with the intention of doing OpenCL/CUDA computing and handle all my multimedia. At the time, 6GB DDR3 RAM (3x2GB) was about all I could afford. The machine works great, but lately, attempting to do some video and image processing has been hitting limits on my available RAM. I also want to run a linux VM or two. I thought I would order the Corsair 3x4GB DDR3 kit from NewEgg and not have any problems upgrading. I didn't have any plans of running the 6 and 12 GB sets simultaneously because I thought there would be some sort of memory density/timing issues.
New RAM desired: Corsair Dominator with DHX Pro Connector and Airflow II Fan - DDR3 Memory Kit (CMP12GX3M3A1600C9)
Old RAM in system: Corsair Dominator with DHX Pro Connector - 6GB Triple Channel (CMP6GX3M3A1600C8)
Request 1: Can I mix the 6 and 12 GB sets (for a total of 18GB) if I keep the density the same across each set of slots? There are 3 black (primary) and 3 blue (secondary). I was thinking of putting the 12GB in black, and 6GB in Blue.
I placed the order, received it, and went to install it yesterday. Took the existing 6GB out and dropped the 12GB in, saw that BIOS recogized it with the right timings, and proceeded to boot Windows up. Blue-screen at the very first Windows logo. I thought "well that stinks, let's check to see if the RAM is defective through MemTest." Downloaded an ISO of 4.2, fired it up, and it hung right away. Hung in the "Address Test, Own Address" test. Big fat A note: BIOS and MemTest both recognized the full capacity of the sticks.
My next thought was "Well, one of them might be bad, let's try to find out which one." I individually put each one in the first slot on the board, ran MemTest, and showed 0 problems on any tests with each of them.
Summary thus far: Individually, each 4GB stick works perfectly. In combination, they fail. The full 3x2GB set works perfectly.
My next theory was that my board might be bad (even though the 3x2GB set in the same slots has no issues). Knowing that the first slot was good with every bit of memory I put in there, I left a 4GB stick in slot 1, and dropped a 4GB stick in slot 2. MemTest hung again. Thinking it might have been that one stick, I put the other one in there, and it hung also. So, slot 2 looks suspect. Move the sticks to 1&3, and they look fine, but that still leaves me missing 4GB of RAM.
I've followed advice and re-seated the CPU, looked for bent pins (none found), and tried manually setting the timings to the 9-9-9-24 that is printed on the sticks. No luck with any of that.
Request 2: So, my question to you is what am I missing? I feel like the board is the problem, due to the slot 2 problem with the 4GB sticks. However, my 2GB sticks don't have any problems at all in the same slots. Could the 4GB sticks require a little more power that my board might not be pushing out (the board is labeled at 1.5V, the sticks are labeled 9-9-9-24, 1.65V)? Would a bent pin be causing this that my eyes just cannot see? I read somewhere that a guy had a pin that was 0.25mm off that was causing his problems.
Or should I be looking at the memory? The 3x2GB set works fine, but the 3x4GB does not.
I'm not sure what my next step should be other than replace the RAM first, motherboard second. The RAM I just got, so I could RMA it if I knew exactly what the problem was. The motherboard is approaching 3 years old and presumably is out of warranty. I wouldn't mind replacing it, but I don't want to spend money right now if I don't have to.
I don't have a second machine to test on, although I'm trying to locate one (most of my friends don't build custom PCs). I have also tried putting the 6GB in the black slots and 12GB in the blue, but the machine doesn't work with that configuration either.
Request 3: Could someone explain how I could aim for 1066MHz on my RAM? I read that on the X58 Pro-E that this resolves most problems with random bluescreens. When I try to do this, I get lost in the numbers/options within the BIOS.
Anything else I might be missing? I'm out of ideas
Thank you all so much for the help!

    Hi and welcome,
You have 2 "bottlenecks": the processor and the mainboard.

    • Supports six unbuffered DIMM of 1.5 Volt DDR3 800/1066/1333*/1600* (OC) DRAM, 24GB Max
As you can see, above 1066MHz you need to overclock both the processor and the mainboard.
    I think for your config the best shot is 3 x 4GB DDR3-1333 (9-9-9-24 at 1.55-1.60V)

  • Question about MSI Z87 boards and NVMe PCI-E SSDs

With the release of the Intel SSD 750 PCI-E SSD and more NVMe SSDs no doubt to follow, will the older motherboards like the Z87 series get updates so that they can boot with NVMe SSDs?
All of the Z97 and X99 boards already have compatibility:
    http://www.msi.com/news/1949.html
What about older chipsets like Z87, Z77? Z87 in particular is very similar to Z97, so I'd imagine it'd be the most likely candidate.

    Yeah I did.

Did anyone get an answer from MSI.
MSI is there going to be a BIOS release to support the ability to boot off of nvme PCIe cards for the M87 boards?
MSI Tech.   05/14/2015   We unfortunately do not have any information regarding any future support for these series boards and supporting NVMe, you , you may continue to visit our news section for updates as they become available. http://us.msi.com/news/
I think is possible though - that and it's likely these boards may support Broadwell as well.

  • Compatibility between CRM 4.0 and IS-U 4.64

    Hi,
My company is using SAP IS-U 4.64 and is studying the use of SAP CRM. Does there is any problem of processus compatibility between these two versions ?
I don't find any document on the market place or in sdn. Does there is a document that shows the optimization for cross application use of SAP ?
    Thanks
    Thomas

    Hi Gaurav,
I've dealt with both realities (specially in IC Webclient) and from the configuration point of view and in my opinion, it is basically the same.
For me the main change is that, in IC webclient scenario, instead of you do some customizing in a XML code, in CRM5 you'll do it by configuring tables.
In CRM5, you'll have some nice functionalities that CRM4 doesn't have (e.g.: You can choose with channels your transactions are allowed, Email Workbench, ERMS categorization is time dependent, and so on...), but the big jump is given when you compare CRM5 to CRM6 (or CRM 2007).

  • Compatibility Between Audigy 2 Drive and Audigy 2 ZS GAMER C

    Greetings,
I had a question about compatibility between an Audigy 2 Dri've and an Audigy 2 ZS Card.
Specifically, the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum Sound Card and the Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS GAMER Edition Sound Card (SB0350).
Is the Audigy2 ZS GAMER Sound Card compatible with the Audigy 2 Platinum Dri've?
If this particular question has already been addressed in another thread, my apologies.
    Thanks,

I searched (on "external" and "bay," but not "dri've" before I posted) but did not see this message. Is the reverse possible - that is a Audigy original dri've and an Audigy 2ZS sound card?

    Hi all,
Once again, I believe I'm going with a new vid card from MSI. I already have one in my machine, and like it very much. This is for a B-day present, and am looking to purchase within the next couple hours if possible.
Basically, I'm just looking to find out what's the difference between the MSI NX7600GT-VT2D256E and the E-HD. Does that mean the "HD" handles hi def or something? The only difference I know of so far is that the E seems to be slightly more expensive than the HD.
Looking to find this out as quickly as possible. Thanks in advance.

HDCP encrypts the data transmitted between the DVI/HDMI connector on the graphics adapter and the display. • MSI 7125 board and Esata drive hot swapping

Hello. New member with a MSI-7125 board. I have the OEM board that Geeks had. Pretty much the same as the regular 7125. I want to use an external eSATA drive and attach it using a simple eSATA bracket that just connects to the board's internal sata ports, or I will use a PCI controller card. I'm told that either will work, and that I can have hot swapping on either too.  I want to be able to turn on and off the drive without turning off windows. I don't want to use the external drive as my main drive. Can anyone confirm that either interface method will work? I'm supposing the simple bracket might be faster since it will have no PCI bus to go through. Thanks

I've listed below a couple of sites that you may be intrested in. They offer the option of using eSATA or SATA on the rear plates. Don't confuse them as they use different plugs on the cables.

By saying memory controller, it's about CPU or mainboard?
AMD cpu's from the phenom series support 1066/1266/1333/1600(usually only supports that with an overclock and 2 dimms installed) MHZ on the memory controler! only way you can get more frequancy is by overclocking the memory controler on the cpu to allow the increased frequancy on the dimms (most ram that says its 1866mhz is ment that its been tested overclocked at that speed but the chips will more then likely be 1600MHZ)!

    Hardware config:
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6400, 2x2.13GHz, 266MHz FSB
    MSI P965 Neo-F (7235 PCB-V1.1) BIOS V1.50

    Asus Extreme N7600GS SILENT/HTD, GeForce 7600 GS, 256MB, DVI, TV-out, PCIe
Using the Corsair memory at 667MHz (BIOS: auto by SPD) results in an unstable system and a lot of memory errors (checked by memtest86+). If I set the frequency to 533MHz the system is 100% stable.
Anyone else who encountered this problem? I have also tried to use only 1 DIMM for single channel mode, same problem.

looked at the links you provided
specs seem ok nice range of speeds and can run at a nice low latency at pc3200 i.e 400mhz.
should also enable a nice o`clock at pc 4400 specs ie 3.4.4.8 ie higher fsb etc.
    than pc 3200 ram
you should be able to run it at fairly low latencies and fairly high fsb sort of half way between the 2.
might well be worth a try you might have found something good there. but then again you wont know till you try it..
contact the reseller and see if you can rma it if it wont run
then you got some comeback if it aint compatable..
