I work actually with mac OS10.7.5 and i use everyday PSE8 with a classification in adobe bridge CS4
I would like to change my mac OS for at least 10.8 or mavericks or even with yosemite which is coming soon
can you tell me if there is compatibility with mY bridge CS4 and PSE8
I don't afraid to change for a new PSE like the 12 because i dob't want to use the organizer all my tags and classification is with bridge and i don't want to do a new classification, too much photos!

je voudrais le faire évoluer en 10.8 voir maverick mais j'a i peur que PSE8 et bridge CS4 ne fonctionnent plus ave
je ne suis pas opposé à faire évoluer mon PSE mais je souhaite conserver l'utilisation de bridge CS4 pour mon classements et mots clés car je ne veux pas tout refaire ! qui pourrait m'aider et me conseiller ?

Pse 8 and Bridge cs4 seems to work okay here on mac os x 10.9.4 mavericks.
The only trouble i've had is with the output module in bridge cs4, which has crashed on occasion.

How Do I Get Thumbnails to Appear in Bridge CS4 on a Mac?
When I upload raw (Nikon NEF) files from a memory card via a USB port, the images upload into Bridge, but appear as icons, not thumbnails. The icons are all labeled NEF NX2. Also, I get an error message stating that, although the upload was successful, conversion from .NEF to .dng files was unsuccessful. I am a new user to Adobe Bridge and PSE. The uploaded files open fine as thumbnails in PSE, but not Bridge.
I am operating on a MacBook Pro, using MAC OSX 10.6.4. I have Nikon's NX2 software installed on my machine, but not running when I am running Bridge.
Can anyone help? Thanks.In Bridge, go to Help>Updates, and bridge should take care of itself. You can only update bridge as far as ACR 5.7.
To update the PSE version of the plug-in, go here, and download the latest update. (You might want to try 6.1, since a fair number of people seem to be having trouble with 6.2). Follow the instructions in the readme, but you do need to remove the old version of the plug-in first, regardless of what the instructions may say.

Adobe Bridge CS4 window will not open MAC
I was using Bridge CS4 on a MAC OSX 10.6.8 yesterday and all was fine. Today when I went to use Bridge, there was no window open. Bridge started up and appeared normal. However, there is no window. When I select "new Window" nothing happens. I uninstalled manually and reinstalled all Photoshop software from the start. I went to open Bridge and the same thing occured. How do I get a new window in Bridge to operate?
Yes!! Success at last. Thank you Omke. Holding down the Option key while starting fixed it. That's an answer that nobody at Adobe could provide me with in 9 hours. Regards.

Elements 8 (Mac), Bridge CS4, Camera Raw 6.1
I've been using Elements 8 on my Mac for a number of months now. The PSE8 installation also included Bridge CS4,which includes the 'full' version of Camera Raw (when used from Bridge versus from Elements). I see Adobe just provided an update to Camera Raw - version 6.1. I've downloaded the update and applied it following the instructions, and ACR from within Elements does indeed reflect version 6.1. However, when I use Bridge CS4 and open a file with Camera Raw, it still reflects the previously installed version of ACR - version 5.7.
I've tried using the Update function within Bridge, but it's not finding any updates. Does anyone know how this is going to work? It seems as though ACR 6.1 is tied to CS5, not CS4. Since my version of Bridge is CS4, and it came with Elements 8 (on the Mac), it seems a little confusing as to how the move to ACR 6.1 will work for Bridge CS4.
I haven't seen any information posted regarding this, so just checking around.

Like Barbara replied, you can not upgrade ACR to version 6.1 for Bridge CS4. So, on updating Bridge through update option within the Bridge, it will not show any upgrade for ACR (if it is already 5.7).
So, you have to continue using ACR5.7 with Bridge. However, you can enjoy ACR6.1 update with PSE8.

Bridge CS4 attempt to Refresh Preview or Save output causes crash in Mac OS 10.8.2
Ever since installing Mountain Lion, I can no longer create contact sheets in Adobe Bridge CS4, which I was always able to do before installing ML. As soon as I press "Refresh Preview," or just try to SAVE the Output (PDF) without refreshing the preview, Bridge crashes with the report below. This is on a MacPro 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 20 MB RAM, OS 10.8.2. Ideas gratefully accepted!

To be absolutely sure, you also did the 2.1 update for the Output Module:

Not sure the link works, sometimes they are country specific but otherwise check the downloads at Adobe.com
Did you try it in a new user account just for testing. Sometimes check and repair permissions using Apple Disk Utility (or 3th party like Cocktail) will also help.
And finally I should point you to the fact that due to a new upgrade policy from Adobe you have until 31 december this year to profit from the upgrade price for PS CS6, after the 1st of january 2013 you will have to pay the full license price for CS6. -
PSE8 for Mac: Convert to DNG in Bridge Photo Downloader fails
Using PSE8 for Mac. When I get RAW photos from Bridge and specify "Convert to DNG" in the advanced options of the Photo Downloader, the RAW files download but the conversion to DNG fails for every image. I can successfully convert using the standalone DNG Converter, but I would like to use the option in the Photo Downloader that comes with Bridge. I'm in touch with Adobe Support on this but not having a lot of luck. Has anyone had this problem or know what to do?
Also, I cannot see the RAW images either in the Photo Downloader or in Bridge. They show up as blue squares with a flower graphic on them in the Downloader, and as white squares in Bridge. I can only see images once I open them in Elements. Is this normal?Also, I cannot see the RAW images either in the Photo Downloader or in Bridge.
This is the source of your problem. You need to update the raw converter in bridge, which ships with a very old version (5.0). In bridge, go to help>updates and let it do its thing. -
I have a new mac. I installed my Bridge CS4 and Photoshop CS4 that I ran on my old mac. When I import RAW pics from my Nikon D90 they come in with the extension of .NEF. Apparently this is not a readable form for Bridge as the picture does not appear. I believe I need a converter to convert .NEF to .dng but I can't find one. Any ideas?
You do not need to convert to DNG.
The NEFs from your camera model have been supported since ACR 4.6 and 5.1.
What you need to do is update your ACR plug-in to version 5.7, the latest and last version for CS4. Right now, you are probably on ACR 5.0, the version supplied with the original release of Photoshop CS4.
Be aware that the Adobe updater is extremely unreliable when it comes to CS5, so that you must do the update manually. There are detailed instructions on the ACR 5.7 plug-in download page. You MUST follow those instructions to the letter.

You would need PSE 11 to open those files directly into PSE. Your options are:
1. Use DPP instead.
2. Download the free DNG converter and use that to convert your raw files to dng files that your version of the raw converter can open:

Pse8 on Mac OSX 10.5.8 - Bridge won't work

I have just installed pse8 on my iMac. When I click on the Bridge icon or select Bridge in the welcome screen nothing happens.
Bridge CS4 is installed in my applications folder but when I double click on it I get the following error message:
You can't open 'Adobe Bridge CS4' because it is not supported on this architecture.

May I first of all say a very big thank you to Barbara, Ankush and Maize to replying to my original post and making some very helpful suggestions. I appreciate the time and research that went into your replies for which I am very grateful.
I contacted Adobe Support and they replied:

At first sight the reply seemed less than helpful and seemed to pass the back to Apple but as it turned out, the seeds of the solution were there.
Firstly I visited the link given and the original poster had the same problem with Bridge but had installed it with CS4. The discussion ran to 47 replies with some quite acrimonious exchanges but no solution. What most people thought was that the installation disk or download had become corrupted.
So I uninstalled my copy of Elements (installed from CD) and downloaded the trial version form the Adobe web site. But no luck , the problem still remained.
A good friend of mine had told me that he had recently purchased Elements 8 and as his iMac has an identical spec to mine and running OS10.5.8. I phoned him and discovered that his installation had worked fine and Bridge loaded with no problems.
Just ot make sure that my problem was not down to a the (very unlikely) possibility corrupted disk I lent my copy to another friend and, guess what? yep it loaded and ran faultlessly.
Now the only thing that my two friends had in common was that neither of them had installed any Adobe software previously except Acrobat, so I began to think along the lines that the root of the problem was in the fact that I was running CS3 (CS Bridge worked fine) but some while ago I downloaded the trial version of Photoshop CS4 then deleted it after the trial period ran out.
By this time I was thinking that I had nothing else left to try other than (to me) the fairly radical approach of uninstalling CS3 (I have the full Design Premium Suite that I use professionally). I was really reluctant to do this in case I had problems re installing and was suddenly left without a means of earning an income - unlikely I'm sure but it's the sort of thing that goes round and round in your head at 3 in the morning. In any event I don't really need Bridge as long as I have a working copy of the Elements 8 it would really suffice for teaching my digital imaging class.
One phrase also kept coming back to me - the error message when I tried to open Bridge - 'Not supported on this Architecture'. I had already been thinking along these lines when I posted the question about whether Elements 8 required Snow Leopard, but then Maize had replied that his works fine under 10.5.8
What the heck, it must be worth a try. So I dug out the Snow Leopard update disk that had been sitting in my desk draw since August. I made Time Machine do one final backup and carried out the update. It was quite scary!! It took about 45 minutes including quite a long period when I was presented with a blank light blue screen and nothing seemed to be happening but eventually all was well and by familiar desktop background appeared with everything seeming to be intact.
So I re installed Elements and with some trepidation clicked on the bridge icon.
SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!! IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have no idea why updating the OS had the desired effect but maybe someone with a lot more technical knowledge and experience could explain why as I would be fascinated to know.

How to point Mac PS Elements to Bridge CS4?
Installed InDesign CS4 (with Bridge CS4) and PS Elements 6 (with Bridge CS3).
Both Bridge CS 3 and Bridge CS4 are now installed.
Tried deleting Bridge CS3 but PSE6 refuses to go to CS4 so dragged CS3 back to application.
PSE6 is happy but I would like to work with same Bridge version for both PSE and InDesign.
Any way to point PSE to Bridge CS4 so I can delete CS3?It doesn't matter whether the program is registered or not: you cannot make an older version of an adobe program like PSE or PS (or ID for that matter) see the newer version of Bridge. That's deliberate on Adobe's part.
But as I said, if you put bridge in the dock, the only difference is that you launch it from the dock rather than from PSE, and go there to switch programs.
If you click the name of a program associated with a file type in the bridge prefs, you should be able to choose PSE 6 as the program to open it; it just doesn't work the other way. -
Bridge CS4's Output update (for Mac) - 'can't install/quit' message. Can anyone help?
I am trying to download Bridge CS4's Output update, but get a 'can't install/quit' message when I open the dmg file. I have checked system requirements, space etc and everything should be OK. I have been using Bridge CS4 for some years, and for some reason didn't know about the Output add-on.
I have a late 2012 iMac, Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5.

Adobe Bridge CS4 quit unexpectedly
Every time I try starting bridge, it crashes unexpectedly.
I have deleted preferences & cache, unistalled, reinstalled and it worked for a few times, but then goes back to crashing every time. I have run the repair disk permissions and checked that the permissions on various Bridge directories (Library/AppSupport/Adobe/Bridge CS4, Library/Caches/Adobe/Bridge CS4, preferences/com.adobe.bridge3.plist ) are r/w for me
I hope someone can help as this is really annoying me now.

the Adobe Tech support by opening a case using the contact button on top of
this forum page.
And have you already tried it in a new user. Create a new user just for
