Will the Apple iPod Camera Connector work with the Sony Cybershot DSCW1?

It is the camera's transfer protocol/how the camera transfers the images.

  • Cannot trim or edit a movie created with a Sony Cybershot DSC-T200 camera?

Hi there people. I've created some mpeg movies using my Sony Cybershot DSC-T200 then copied them onto my Imac. I want to trim the start and end of the movie which i know is possible within Quicktime as i've done it with other video formats from other sources and you just drag the selection markers on the playback bar to the desired points then re-save. However when i open the mpegs in Quicktime created with the Sony camera, the in and out selection markers are not there? Can somebody help me with this situation as it's driving me nuts. I have the full Quicktime Pro version too so know that's not an issue.
I've exported the mpeg as an Mp4 as a test and it then lets me edit but i'm losing video quality. I've also got a program called MPEG streamclip which lets me clip the mpeg but still getting the quality loss.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Multiplexed compression formats have never been "fully" supported by QT. And, as a result of a number of recent updates, many of the "contextual" features are now correctly turned off when they should be turned off while others "partially" work even when they shouldn't. When dealing with multiplexed files, you should use an MPEG-based, third-party application like MPEG Streamclip to ensure all features are properly functioning.
I've also got a program called MPEG streamclip which lets me clip the mpeg but still getting the quality loss.
If you use the "Save As..." option to save your files after trimming, there should be absolutely no loss in quality since there is no re-compression of the data. (I.e., the trimmed data is simply copied to a new file container.) On the other hand, if you are exporting the data after trimming, then there is always an opportunity for a loss in visual quality -- especially if you use a lower data rate than your source in order to create smaller files. In this case your are actually "throwing away" data which is what causes your loss in quality.

  • IPod Camera Connector compatibility question

    Hello!
Well, I'm thinking about buying the Camera connector for trips/etc when I don't have my Powerbook, but have my 30gig Video.
I've looked at the iPod Camera connector compatibility site
    http://www.apple.com/ipod/compatibility/cameraconnector.html
and it doesn't list my camera - the Nikon Coolpix 5200. It lists the 3200, 4200, and S1, which is for the most part an updated 5200. The 4200 is exactly the same apart from the resolution - 4 megapixels.
It notes that those are the ones that Apple has TESTED - not neccessarly the only ones that will work. My camera does have a Mass Storage AND a PTP mode - both supported by Apple.
Just curious if anyone else has tried a 5200 with the connector - and if it worked fine? If not, is there a better connector?
Also - apple mentions that media readers may or may not be supported. Any way to find out which? Is there a list like the one above?
    Thanks,
    Dan
PS: wasn't there some way to do this with a 20gig Clickwheel? I know there's a photo import extra - although it may need a third party connector.
    15" Powerbook G4 (May 2005 ed), iMac DV (9.2.2)   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   1G Ram, 192 (iMac)

If your camera supports PTP and/or Mass Storage, it should work...
    iPod Camera Connector: Supported Devices
Also, you need an iPod photo/with color display or an iPod with video for use with the Camera Connector.

  • Ipod camera connector and compatability with card readers

I have ipod classic video with ipod camera connector.  It will not recognise a card reader and unfortunately my camera won't connect to the USB cabel anymore.  How do I find out what card readers are compatible or is it the Sandisk Extreme III card?

Should be able to work with any SD card of the right size.

  • Questions about the ipod camera connector...

    Hi,
i got some questions about the ipod camera connector.
1)Is the camera connector compatible with the Sony camera DSC-P93A ?
In fact, this camera got PTP protocol.
    PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) Oui
Marque PIM (Print Image Matching) Oui
    PictBridge™ Oui
So, do the camera need to have the three following protocols to be compatible with the camera connector ?
=>Mass Storage, PTP, and Type 4
Or maybe does it need only one of it??
    2) Is it compatible with a USB memory card reader?
    Thank you

Wel, if i've right understood what you said, my camera is compatible because it got PTP protocol ?
That's weird, cause i wrote a mail to sony to ask them about the compatibility of my camera, but they answered that it wasn't. But of course, i'll prefer to believe you than them !

How can i take Better pictures from my Sony Cybershot DSC-HX9V like DSLR?Kindly Best Settings...

Taking better pictures on an HX9v isn't something you can just 'do'. It takes learning and creativity.
Understanding how the camera works, and having a good imagination to use it.
Look at phone cameras for example, amazing photos.
If you're talking about image quality, that is, less noise, crisp sharp photos, etc, compact cameras in general just won't match the DSLR.
If you're talking about photos that look stunning, again, learn how to use the camera, and be imaginative (creative)
I have a couple of articles to understand the basics to a camera (I really need to find the time to add more) on my website:
    http://d3studio.com.au/
One thing I'm definitely lacking on there is composition, and that's something you can learn on YouTube - compositions in a photo is very important when you're first starting out.
Put your 9v onto M (manual) mode, and try out the different things - learn how the camera works, think about what you want to shoot, and then do it.
    Good luck.

  • Uploading sony cybershot DSC-T7 movie clips into iMovie

I can import the movie clips from my Sony Cybershot DSC-T7 into iPhoto, and I can play the movies on my Mac. I can move still photos from that camera successfully into iMovie. That's the good news.
But every time I try to move a movie clip from my Sony Cybershot DSC-T7 into the area to create a new project, I get the RED flag.
I even went to an Apple store where they had a session on iMovie to sort it out. The Apple person guessed my inablity to import movie clips from the Sony camera was because my Sony doesn't have the right movie format. Apparently the only kinds of files that iMovie works with are MPEG-4, DV, or .mov files.
What movie format does the Sony Cybershot DSC-T7? If I can successfully hook up the camera via USB port, and can play the movie clips on my Mac, why can't I import them into iMovie?
My current backup measure is to take pictures while my movie clips are running, using the Apple-Shift-3 keys to create stills. But, hey, I want to work with the video stream!
Thanks for any help you can offer.

What movie format does the Sony Cybershot DSC-T7?
MPEG VX. If I remember correctly, this is a full-frame (VGA) of MPEG-1 with up to 30 fps in fine setting. Muxed formats (like MPEG-1, MPEG-2, VOD, TOD, MOD, FLASH, etc.) are not editable at the frame level and must be converted to a compression format that contain synchronized instances (i.e., frames) of audio and video data.
If I can successfully hook up the camera via USB port, and can play the movie clips on my Mac, why can't I import them into iMovie?
There are basically three levels of QT support for video files:
    1) PLAYBACK ONLY -- these files can be played back by QT applications but cannot be converted or edited.
    2) CONVERSION COMPATIBLE -- These files with play in QT applications and can be converted to "Fully" compatible QT compression formats but cannot be edited at the frame level.
    3) FULLY COMPATIBLE -- these files can be played, converted, and edited by QT applications.
Your video files are "Playback Only." If converted by a QT Application (like iMovie '06 or iTunes), they will lose their audio. They can, however, be converted to iMovie '08 import/edit compatible files by MPEG-based, third-party applications like MPEG Streamclip (free), iSquint (free), FFmpegX (donation ware), Visual Hub (pay ware), etc.

  • Canon EOS 300d with iPod Camera Connector

    Hey folks,
I don't have a problem with this combination but just want to say, that it's working perfectly together! I've searched for a thread like this before but didn't found any, so I took my currage and bought the Camera Connector without being sure it will work with my Canon EOS 300d. Today I tested it and it works perfect from the first moment. Just plug into the iPod and the camera and it prompts directly the import screen on the iPod. Importing itself also works good, but due to the USB 1.1 port on the camera it's a little slow. There are time measurements on other threads dealing with the connector, but for me the time is secondary, aslong as I don't have to carry my PowerBook around to get the fotos from my camera. BTW: That's not faster!
So for all of you out there using a Canon EOS 300d don't hesitate to get the Camera Connector - with the latest firm- and software on your devices there should be no problem!

Is it possible to connect a Canon EOS 300D via iPod
camera connector to a 5th generation iPod?
The EOS 300D isn't listed in the compatibility list,
but i'm sure the camera supports the protocols.
    Any experiences?
    Thanks, Krycek
/edit: I recognized the thread before, but I like ro
    hear more experiences.
i, use it and works but is very slow....

  • CS4 MPEG 2 export settings for video captured by sony cybershot dsc-w35

    Hi,
I am trying to export a project (which contains video captured by my sony cybershot dsc-w35 digital camera) in MPEG 2 format (not sure if there is a better format I should be using, but I tried to do it in AVI before and the resulting file was way too large), and the resulting exported file always comes out with choppy video. The video capture settings for my cybershot camera (and thus the source video in my project) are:
         - VGA (640 x 480)
         - framerate: 25 fps
At the outset, I am using DV (only other option is HDV) as capture format, and I selected DV-PAL: Standard: 48 kHz as my Sequence preset. I have no idea if thi is the appropriate preset for me to be using, but it seems logical since its timebase is 25 fps and it says a 4:3 video ratio in the description, and almost every other preset seems to be intended for HD video and higher framrates or ratios, etc.
At the export stage, I select MPEG 2 format, and other than that I really have no idea what settings I should be using. I set the preset to Custom and under the Video section I switch the framerate to 25 and the pixel aspect ratio to 4:3. Everything else I pretty much leave the same.
Can anyone tell me why the export file always comes out choppy? (it is not choppy when I watch it in Premiere itself). I must be either using the wrong preset at the beginning or in the export stage (or both). The VGA capture setting of my camera seems like it might be an issue as none of the presets in Premiere appear to accomodate it. Any help is sincerely appreciated!

Thanks for the prompt response, Hunt.
The spec sheet you referred to is actually for the Sony cybershot dsc-w350, whereas my camera is the sony cybershot dsc-w35. that's probably the reason for the discrepancy. When looking at the properties of the source video I am using it says 25 fps, so does this mean I should be using a PAL preset in the export stage? I see what you mean about using a Desktop (custom) preset for the sequence preset, and for this I set the framerate to 25, frame width to 640 and height to 480 (to match my camera settings), but what should I set the pixel width to?
In the export stage, I select custom preset again, but within this there are lots of options (mostly under the Video tab) I am unsure about. Should I be using PAL instead of NTSC since I'm using a 25 fps framerate? I can also scroll video quality anywhere from 1 to 5, any ideas? I can also choose various pixel aspect ratios here and then there are a bunch of bitrate settings I am totally cluseless about. Also, under the Multiplexer tab, there is an option between constant and variable bitrate types, which should I use? Thanks again

  • 5G iPod with Apple iPod Camera Connector

Does Apple iPod Camera Connector able to download the movies (in .MPG format) which capture from my Sony camera to 5G iPod? If not, any suggestion?

I believe the Connector works only for stills.
Anyway, Sony is one of the more un-Mac-friendly companies out there, so I would not expect much from them.
As for suggestions, I believe it is more a question of what is supported by your camera.
    Good luck

  • IPod Camera Connector for the iPod Touch

I have an iPod Camera Connector for a previous model of iPod. Now that I have an iPod Touch, when I try to use it I get an error message that states this device is not supported. Has iPod created a Camera Connector to upload pictures from a card larger than a 512mg card (ie a 2+ GB card or larger) that is supported by the iPod touch?
    Thanks,
    Denice

I don't believe so, as the iPod touch doesn't support "disk use" (it doesn't mount as a hard drive on your computer).
