Compatibility issues betwee flash 5 and 8

Hi,
I am in the process of re-skinning a game that was made in
Flash 5, i am currently working in Flash 8 and finding that the
game will work when i have finished reskinning it (without saving)
but after i have saved the game and reopen it, all the movie clips
have been changed back to a shape, all the layers and actions
inside the movie have been removed as well...
Anyone know why or what is happening here?
Thanks...

hard to understand this...
"but after i have saved the game and
> reopen it, all the movie clips have been changed back

you must be not looking at the right FLA - make sure you are
opening the same exact FLA.
" all the
> layers and actions inside the movie have been removed
as well..."
never heard of this either in my 10 years of working with
flash. so you save and close the FLA -
open it again and all actionscript and layers have been
stripped out? I'm pretty sure that is
impossible. Really hard to venture a guess here - maybe you
are importing an swf? or opening the
wrong file?
I'm clueless here :(

  • Known backwards compatibility issues between Robohelp 9 and Robohelp 8?

    Hi Group,
In addition to avoiding the tasks in the Review menu, does anyone know of any other backwards compatibility issues encountered while opening and using files generated in RoboHelp 9 from within Robohelp 8? Thanks, gail

    Welcome to the forum.
Simply the fact that RoboHelp 8 will not open a project that has been run in RoboHelp 9. Sure you might well open a project by deleting the CPD and perhaps the XPJ and using the HHP, however I would not recommend that except in an emergency.
What I am not clear on is how you link that to "avoiding the tasks in the Review menu." What has that got to do with the question?

  • Compatibility issues with CS5.5 and Maverick 10.9

I'd like to know if there are any compatibility issues with CS5.5 and Maverick 10.9 before I upgrade from 10.6.8.

To be honest, I use the CS5 Premium Creative Suite and have had to upgrade all my app's to Mavericks because I have a new iMac, the other one just died.
I used the 'Time Machine' to backup and to transfer all the files, the Mac apps almost transferred 100% but not all successfully, especially iDVD, it was probably something that I did not click in the 'Time Machine preferences'.
If I had the choice, upgrade to 'Mountain Lion, I would revert back to Mountain Lion but not got the discs, I find Mavericks very clunky and slow and causing lots of issues with my Adobe applications.
So if it is not too late, I would wait a few months before upgrading to Mavericks.
    Hope this info' has helped.

  • Unresolved/Unresolvable Shockwave Flash Compatibility Issues - "shockwave flash may be busy, or it may have stopped responding..."

As an early adopter (and champion) of Firefox, it is with great sadness that after more than 10 years I find that I will need to un-install Firefox and move to another browser due to your ongoing compatibility issues with Shockwave Flash (a page freeze with an eventual pop-up message saying "shockwave flash may be busy, or it may have stopped responding..." on any and every page that has flash content). It has made my browsing experience horrible for more than half a month, and I've invested more than a week trying to address it. I started with all of the tweaky recommendations from your support site, Adobe's support site and many 3rd party sites; then a Firefox reset, and then eventually moved on to complete clean re-installations of Firefox and Adobe. Nothing fixed the issue. And it is an issue that doesn't occur on other browsers like IE, Opera and Chrome. Frankly it just shouldn't be this hard, and I believe you should be addressing it head on. I see from many online forums and your support site that I am far from alone. Do a quick Google search of "Firefox, shockwave flash may be busy, or it may have stopped responding" if you actually need to confirm this. I am using modern hardware (HP laptop with an i7 processor) and a major, supported OS (Windows7 64-bit). I hope for your sake you get it figured out. If you do, feel free to let me know... I might consider coming back, though frankly this may just be a sign that the Mozilla of old is no more. It makes me sad for both of us.

Strangely I tried all the suggested fixes for the problems of Script errors especially related to adobe. In addition when I clicked the firefox icon it took a long time to load. None of the suggested fixes in the forum has changed or fixed either of these 2 problems.
Yesterday I entered services.msc and changed all of my microsoft network services and services related to my adapor that said manual to automatic. I did this unrelated to firefox but because my network/wifi was connecting slowly when I booted up my computer. I then rebooted my computer.
To my surprise not only did my wifi connect faster but firefox now loads normally and all the script error messages related to adobe have disappeared. Firefox has worked perfectly now for 2 days.
For my individual situation my firefox problems were all related to network services being set to manual rather then automatic. How this effects firefox is unknown to me but must somehow be related to how firefox is accessing the network.

  • [URGENT] Compatibility issues in Flash Professional CS6

    Hello,
I cannot seem to add clickable URL in my Flash advertising banner. It's been created in old Flash Player 9 and ActionScript 1.0 and it's having so many compatibility issues throughout the project. I've seen many videos but I am still doing something wrong, is there any direction anyone can point to where all the latest flash tutorials are to learn the basics. I just read the "Creating First FLA File" - It's been about a decade since I've used Flash and I'm not worried about that, file is created and everything - typically I just want to edit little things such as URL and text and pictures and maybe in future a little more animation but as of now I just need this URL thing sorted out. I see that the getURL feature is no longer available and navigateToURL is the one working but still I'm having some issues. Let me know if you guys can point me in any direction to learn basics of it where I can figure it out on my own or if anyone can help me. Willing to share the FLA file if they want to look into it or anything at all.
    Thank you.

    Ned,
Thank you for your response. Well, indeed my intend  is to change it to AS3 if that will be fine because either way I just want it to be working and I'd prefer AS3 since it's the latest and contains more features so anything I learn from anything here will help me for my future projects.

That is the code I just copied from one of the ad, here's a screencap of the Flash screen just to help you a bit. http://prntscr.com/vovnh - Let me know if you need any more information.

  • Since updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1 I'm having compatibility issues with my speakers and my iTunes wifi sync isn't working. Anyone else having the same problems?

Since updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1 I'm having compatibility issues with my speakers / docking station and my iTunes wifi sync isn't working. Anyone else having the same problems? Both worked fine until the update...

Okay. I got it working again by setting it up as a new phone instead of just syncing. Then I backed up. All is good today.

  • I am frequently unable to join the internet or it runs very slowly.  I have a Time Capsule in my LAN. Are there any compatibility issues with Time Capsules and any ISPs?

I am frequently unable to join the internet or, if I can, it is exceptionally slow. The ISP says nothing is wrong ontheir end.  Are there any compatibility issues with any ISPs when using Time Capsule and/or iMacs?

Tried this several times to no avail.  I believe it is the ISP causing the problem...Time Warner.

  • Compatibility issues between PS3.0 and Windows Vista

Have PS3 for Windows XP. Have had it a while and it wouldn't load on my old computer because the harddrive didn't have enough space.  Now trying to load it on to HP Pavilion bought last spring.  When I tried to load it, I got the error window with: compatibility issues with this software.  Windows didn't find a solution.  Went to adobe.com and tried update for PS3.0 which I thought should work.  it said 3.0.1.  Won't work.  What am I missing?  Am I missing anything?  Will Adobe work as I want it to work?  As it's supposed to work?

Well, it's not "supposed" to work in Vista. The earliest version of Elements that officially works in Vista is 5, with the special patch. However, some people have had success running earlier versions in XP compatibility mode.

  • Issue with Flash 8 and IE7

I have a page that contains a Flash movie that is an flv
    player. There is a
short intro and then there is a list of videos. Clicking on a
    video link
    plays the video.
When viewing the page in IE7, when any nav link on the page
    is clicked
(there's a nav in the header and a left hand nav), it starts
    the first flash
video downloading although it doesn't play and the page will
    not switch to
another page until the entire first video is downloaded. Any
    body know what
is going on and how to fix it? The nav links have nothing to
    do with the
    flash player on the page.
    Thanks
    -mark

Actually, I've figured out it's a progressive download cache
issue. Happens in all browsers. I used he flvplayback component
when creating the flash player. Once the videos are caached, the
other links on the page will work. Is there any way to stop the
browser video caching from freezing the browser on that page until
    the videos have cached?

From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support.

  • Latest info on compatibility issues OSX 10.6 and Adobe CS3

I have had CS3 for some time.  It cost an arm and a leg and does exactly what I need - improvements to later versions do not really impact me or improve the performance of my work with this program, so I want to keep what I have and what I know how to use really well.  However, when Snow Leopard came out there was a lot of probs with compatibility, and Adobe said they would not support CS3 on Snow Leopard.  I have updated 10.5 as far as I can.  Now Leopard is so old I am starting to have probs with internet, I cannot access more recent versions of browsers I need, etc.  So is anyone out there using Snow Leopard with CS3 and can you tell me what the issues are - I mainly use Photoshop and Illustrator.  Do I have to take my mac off line to continue to work with CS3 or dare I update to Snow Leopard?  Can anyone help me?

Have you ever tried it with Snow Leopard? CS2 and CS4 both work fine with it, so it is hard to believe that CS3 would not. Clone your system to an external drive using SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner and then upgrade the clone to Snow Leopard. Order the 10.6.3 disk from Apple and then upgrade to 10.6.8 using the combo updater. Once you are on Snow Leopard, you can use the Firefox browser, which is up to date and runs on 10.6 and above.

  • Compatability issues with Windows 7 and Ipod Classic initially set-up w/ XP

When I opened my iTunes account for my iPod Classic 2 years ago, I was using Windows XP and could download from iTunes Store or load my own CDs and then sync to my iPod.  Long story short: That computer crashed. I now use Windows 7 on both my new computers but while I can review the contents of my Classic, itTunes won't play any of the tracks when connected to my computer's USB.  Nor can I sync purchases or downloads.  Incidentally, attempts to review my Ipod in "computer" doesn't consistently show my iPod either.  I continually receive the same message telling me that "iTunes.exe has been set to run in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows.  For best results, turn off compatibility mode for iTunes before opening." I right clicked on iTunes, regarding compatibility, but it informs me that there are no previous versions available to do this.  My warranty for technical or phone support has expired, so I am unable to speak to a representative.  It sounds like other people are having similar problems with the newest version 11.1 of iTunes.  Has anyone worked their way around this?

    Hi anne274,
I'm sorry to hear about your Dad.
Since the music was originally ripped from CD, you should be able to put the iPod into disk mode http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363 and transfer the music into your library without loosing anything.
