Compatibility issues with Groove Agent 3

Question

Hi everyone,
I´ve recently acquired Groove Agent 3 in order to gain time laying drum tracks on demo songs. After running it as a VSTi under Logic Express 8 I realised the MIDI output function of GA3 was not working. I can hear the drum pattern, the meters move accordingly and I can play or pause GA3 directly from Logic but I cannot record the MIDI track.
I've tried exporting MIDI with GA as a stand-alone and Rewire as well but didn´t work either.
I´ve checked for support on Apple´s forum and found a couple of articles dating back 2005 and 2007. Does anyone know if the compatibility between GA and Logic has been updated?
The MIDI output is vital for me since it enables to edit the drum track!
If the compatibility issues are still unsolved does anyone know a way around?

Hi Antoine,
GA3 is not the easiest VSTi/plugin to figure out. Regarding recording MIDI grooves live to host, Steinberg admits that they can't guarantee that this will work in anything other than Cubase. You can play and record the drum kits manually via your keyboard, but if you try to record the grooves in LE8 all you get are the "controller notes" which simply trigger the grooves and do not display individual notes that you can edit.
However, I am able to successfully export grooves to MIDI files in LE8. You probably already know that before you begin recording you go to Edit/Setup in GA3 and set GA MIDI Output to "Record To File." The really important thing to remember is that after you stop recording you need to go back to GA and turn the MIDI Output off. This is what tells GA3 to create a MIDI file and save it to your desktop.
Finally, admittedly a bit convoluted, you need to drag & drop this MIDI file onto your track. You will then have all your individual editable notes.
