Compatibility tab missing in Windows 7
Hey guys,
My compatibility tab is missing from the usual place, right click -> properties. I can't find it for any file.
The Program Compatibility Assistant Service is running.
Any ideas? My Windows 7 version is Enterprise.

Thanks for your post.
Type "run programs made for previous versions of windows" in start menu search, if it gives any result as "Run programs made for previous versions of Windows" then you are able to run that application in compatibility mode through that.

PDF tab missing in Windows Explorer
We have a number of Windows 7 and Vista machines running Acrobat 9 Standard or Professional. When viewing the file properties of any PDF in Windows Explorer on any of these machines except one, there's a "PDF" tab that displays metadata information on the file. On one Win7 Ultimate PC running Acrobat 9.4 Professional, that tab doesn't display. The metadata can be seein in Acrobat File -> Properties, and can be searched in Windows Explorer, but cannot be accessed using that tab. As far as I know, there's no customization in either Acrobat or Windows that would cause this tab not to display - I've compared every setting I can think of between machines that show the PDF tab and the one that doesn't. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
According to the following article, this is an Adobe problem related to their shell extension called pdfshell.dll. That extension is only a 32 bit extension, and 64 bit Windows will not run 32 bit extensions.

You can see the 32-bit pdfshell.dll "working" on 64-bit Windows 7 in the File Open dialog of any 32-bit application (such as Adobe Reader). To see this, first open an Explorer window and navigate to a folder that has some PDF files like your IBM manual. Right click on the file and choose Properties. Look at the tabs in the dialog and note that there is no PDF tab. Now, OK out of the Properties dialog and double-click on the same file to open it in Adobe Reader. Now press Ctrl-O or choose File Open to get the File Open dialog. Navigate to the same folder, right click on the same file and choose Properties. Look at the tabs and see that you now have the PDF tab that was missing in Explorer. In that tab, you can see the Title that pdfshell.dll has pulled from the file. This works because 32-bit Adobe Reader has loaded a 32-bit common file dialog which *will* load a 32-bit shell extension." -
First tab missing in second window
I have multiples tabs opened in 2 browser windows. Every time I exited Firefox by choosing File - Exit so that the tabs can be opened when Firefox is launched.
This works fine on version 9. After the upgrade (since 10.0.1), the first tab in 2nd window is missing. It can still be opened by choosing tab groups, but not visible on tab bar. Furthermore, the "Open a new tab" button appear at left of tabs instead of right side, which is in between the missing tab and the rest of the tabs.Not working.
The + button is already on the right in customize menu.
Cor-el solution works, but it has to be done every time the browser is re-open. Plus, the + button is in between the first and the rest of the tabs. So, I would say is a bug. I will log it in as a bug in bug tracker. -

What is the Compatibility Tab grayed out for applications on some network shares, but not others?
I have a network share with an executable file located in it. If I browse to the share by UNC path from a Windows 7 pro workstation and go to the compatibility tab of the .exe, the options are grayed out.
I have another network share with an executable file located on it. This share and workstation are at a different location, unrelated to the first example. If I browse to the share by UNC path from a Windows 7 pro Workstation and go to the compatibility
tab of the .exe file, the options are not grayed out, and I can check or uncheck what ever I need to.
Both shares are located on a Server 2008 R2 system w/sp1. Both workstations are joined to the same domain as the server they are connecting to the UNC path on. Both shares have given the user connecting full access on the smb sharing and ntfs sharing.
Someone please tell me how to make the compatibility tab not grayed out. Here is a screen shot of the comapatibility tab of the .exe file from both shares:Hi,

Thanks, but I read that link before I posted this. Even by running the compatibility wizard, you still can't edit the compatibility settings on Windows 7. -
I used to be able to control new tab actions such as opening on top of current tab or in a new tab. This is frustrating as i always cover up where I am or was! How can this be corrected so I can open a new tab in a new tab? I am enrolled in an on-line class and can not open tabs in a new tab as needed as it always places the new tab on top of teh current or old tab.
Funny as i use to complain about opening in new windows!
I am missing how to control new tabs and new window actions?

When trying to turn off compatibility mode on my itunes i dont have a compatibility tab after right clicking properties. Can any one help???

I tried to restore the feed http://feeds.feedburner.com/imananddinasbroadcast but feedburner refused.
I know that I missed things up but I still have hope in working things out.

get a message that itune.exe set to run in compatabilty mode for an older version of windows. i use windows7.
tried to follow the apple support instructions but found them misleading as couldn find compatability tab under (right click) prperties...

This simple solution involves correcting the ENUM keys in the Registry (not as scary as you might think) and deleting all instances of your player from the Device Manager and then reinstalling so that Windows and other applications will all recognize your player again. It's so simple, and once I tried it, I was amazed that's all it took to fix the problem.
?I?suggest you read the whole page and follow the instructions as they are given. I deleted and re-installed my player several times and then rebooted a couple of times before it took effect, but then it did, and I was able to download the Firmware and have had continued success with my original player that I posted about as well as others I have acquired since I first posted that message in 2006. For reasons I have not yet identified, this problem still happens every now and again, sometimes when I switch between players to synchronize. It may well be that when I use my registry cleaner or some other utility that "fixes" my registry, that it resets this particular key - but as long as it's easy to fix, it's not a problem. I have gone to Safari preferences and have made the selection in TABS to open links in TABS instead of Windows. I have chosen "Always".
The setting has not stuck. I tried logging out then logging back in however it still does not work. Am I missing something?I did not have any extensions and reset Safari. I have the most update versions as per screenshot

In Robohelp 8 HTML - I am creating a CHM file but only the search tab comes up. Contents tab is missing. Window options are correct because if I use a different TOC, contents tab is there. I have tried recreatng the TOC but same problem. All other TOC compile correctly with contents tab.
I think I may have understood this a bit more....
It seems that when you create an 'anonymous' export, the 'Evaluations' tab doesn't appear and you are unable to run evaluations. However, if you then make the export non-anonymous (i.e. you need to login as a named user) then you are able to do evaluations on your models/objects.
Strangely, then reverting the export back to 'anonymous' doesn't then remove the evaluations.... weird. -
I have been advised to resolve the problem i should go to the properties window and click the compatibility tab and deselect all checkboxes currently selected in the compatibility tab and then click apply.

That sounds like you're right-clicking a folder and selecting "properties", Richard.
Try right-clicking on the QuickTimePlayer.exe file (located inside the C:\Program Files\QuickTime\ folder), as per the following screenshot:
... and then selecting "Properties".
Can you see your Compatibility tab now? -

This most certainly appears to be a bug. How do I report this to Apple?I am also experiencing this problem, however if you use the Basic setting the problem doesn't exist.
I am using Novel and I have the problem. It's quite annoying.
I noticed that if you set the fontsize to 12 then this problem exhibits, however if I change the size to 11pt or 10pt (10 is the default for Basic, 12 is default for Novel) then I don't have the bug.

Need help to open a blob from a report into another tab or browser window.
Hello everyone.
I'm looking for a bit of guidance on something I'm trying to do in Apex.
I have a report that contains a blob. Users can click on the link to open it in same browser. I also know how to make it download if they click the link. But what I really want to do is to click the link and open the blob in another tab or browser window.

So far I haven't found a way to use something link "target=_blank"One way would be to use a Dynamic Action to apply the <tt>target="_blank"</tt> attribute to each link, or convert them to use APEX pop-ups or a jQuery lightbox like fancyBox.

Tabs only open in a new window. Ctl T opens a new window NOT a new tab help-last update this problem started 2 days ago. How do I set FF back to open tabs in 1 window?
There is no plus sign and going into optins and changing settings has not worked. I have uninstall FF and reinstall-keeping my personalization-and that was no help.
Right clicking on FF Icon to open a new tab, or going up to FF drop down tab and clicking on new tab both do not work.
Help everything opens a new window not a new tab. there seems to be no way to reset this or to chose a different optin. I just downloaded new tabs at end addon and it didn't do a thing.as a first troubleshooting step - does it work like normally when you open & run firefox in [[Safe Mode|safemode]] by pressing the shift key while you open firefox (all other instances have to be closed before)...

Under the File tab, I no longer see Close Tab or Close Window. Thus, I end up with a lot of open windows, because if I click File Exit, I'm logged out.
You need to create a file userChrome.css in the chrome folder in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and paste the above posted code in the file.<br />
You can use the ChromEdit Plus extension to make it easier to edit the file.
You can access the profile folder via this button:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
That code will cause all hidden menu entries to get visible all the time, so you can use the mouse to open the menus and do not need to use the keyboard.
