Compatibility with Microsoft Office 8

I don't know where to put this question so I am trying here.
I am running Microsoft Office X (old version) and find I am not compatible with new Office 8 formats *.xlsx and *.docx (for instance). Is there some download that will enable me to read them without updating to Office 8? I don't see any reason to use those formats but friends have been sending me files in those formats and I have to tell them to send me *.xls and *.doc files (which they do).
I tried the Microsoft site but could not find anything that was useful.

Download this add on from Microsoft. It gives Office X and Office 2004 the ability to open XML (.docx, .xlsx, etc.) files from Office 2008 for Mac or Office 2007 for Windows.
If the link doesn't bring up the proper page, you'll see a link in the right column for "Open XML File Format Converter for Mac 1.1".

  • Report Generation Toolkit Compatibility with Microsoft Office 2013 and LabVIEW 2012

    Hello community,
on this page there is shown the Report Generation Toolkit Compatibility with Microsoft Office and LabVIEW.
In our company we use actually LabView 2012 and it works perfectly with MS Office 2010.
Has anyone ever tried the "Report Generation Toolkit" of LabVIEW 2012 with MS Office 2013? Does it really not work? Has anyone an emirical value for this topic?

    Hi digital_badger,
as you sure have seen in the link it is not officially supported by NI, which means to you one of the following things:
    1. You could upgrade your LabVIEW and your Report Gerneration Toolkit to Version 2014 and use MS Office 2013
    2. You could just try it with MS Office 2013 which might work but if it's not working you don't get any support from NI.
Even if someone tried it already and it worked for him does not mean that it will work on your machines. It is possible that on some of your machines it could work but not on others. Their can be a lot of problems while playing around with unsupported setups.
    3. You could leave your setup as it is and stick to your MS Office 2010.
I hope I could give you a good answer to your question

  • SmartView 11.1.2.1 x64 compatibility with Microsoft Office 2010 x64

The SmartView 11.1.2.1 x64 is compatible with Microsoft Office 2010 x64?
After installing SmartView, Microsoft Excel does not recognize this supplement

11.1.2.2.300 the latest release of Smart View does support Office 64 bit. You can download the latest version here http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/smart-view-for-office/downloads/index.html or on My Oracle Support.
Remember SV is backwards compatible so the client version does not need to match the server version.

  • Solution Manager 4.0 compatibility with Microsoft office 2007

Is there any OSS notes which says that Solution Manager 4.0 is supported with Microsoft Office 2007?

    Hello Mitesh,
There is no such SAP note which can provide you information on Solution Manager and Office 2007.
The closest and the most useful note would be SAP note 722513.

  • Smart View add in 11.1.1.3 Compatibility with Microsoft Office 365

Our organization is looking to move to Microsoft Office 365. Is there any compatibility issues with the Smart View add in version 11.1.1.3? I checked the certification documents, but they do not mention anything about Office 365.

Office 365 Web Apps are not supported and cannot be supported as there is no platform for add-in's in that environment. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13602
Most Office 365 uses cases and users end up with Office installed on the desktop and at that point we are talking about normal Office Support. Right now it is up to the Office 365 administrator to determine the version of Office to be used by their 365 users. http://onlinehelp.microsoft.com/en-us/office365-enterprises/ff637585.aspx
Short answer is that Smart View does not support Office 365 Web Apps and there are no plans to support the Web Apps.

  • 13" Macbook Pro compatibility with Microsoft Office

I just purchased a 13" Macbook Pro.  Can I load Microsoft Office 2007 professional on this device?

Not unless you run Windows. Office 2007 is a Windows suite. For the Mac you need to purchase Office 2011 for Mac OS X - www.mactopia.com.
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • Compatibility with Microsoft Office 2010 OneNote

Internet Explorer allows me, with one click of the "Send to OneNote" icon on the command bar, to send information from the Internet, along with a link back to the source, to Microsoft Office 2010 OneNote. It would be great if I could do this using Firefox instead, since that is my principal browser.
    Is this possible?

    Try this extension. <br />

  • Safari compatibility with Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 Web Access

I'm trying to use Live Meeting 2007 Web Access, and the test page is saying that the software isn't supported by my platform. The troubleshooter states that system requirements are Safari 1.3 or 2.0, and my Safari is 3.2.1 Can anyone advise how to remedy this without scrapping my current version and adding the earlier one? It also says it needs Apple Java 1.4.2...I'm completely lost there. Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
Did the issue happen for all Live meeting or just for one Live meeting?
If the issue happen for all Live meeting, please update OCS client and then test again.
Try to reset IE and use other media player to test the issue.

  • Compatible  smart view version 11.1.2.1 with microsoft office 2010 x64

    Hello,
My name's Antonio Marcos and i'm trying install smart view version 11.1.2.1 in version x64 the microsoft office 2010.
The documentation, says its compatible, but when installing an error occurs.
Anyone know how to solve this problem?

I'm confused. There's an Oracle Proactive Support blog entry that says it came in with .300:
    https://blogs.oracle.com/proactivesupportEPM/entry/smartview_11_1_2_2
Even Matt Milella 'sorta' says it, here: SmartView 11.1.2.1 x64 compatibility with Microsoft Office 2010 x64
But then the latest New Features (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E38438_01/epm.111223/sv_new_features/sv_new_features.html#sv_new_features_361) definitely lumps it into the 11.1.2.2 (no dot) bundle. And John Goodwin says it. So I apologize if I'm giving out bad information.
But this doesn't help the OP, who is on 11.1.2.1. :)

  • Compatibility issues with Microsoft Office?

I am planning to buy a 13"MBA - Are there any known issues with working with years of files generated with Microsoft Office?
    Any suggestions?
    Many thanks

The only problem you might run into is when opening MS Word documents that are in a very old (i.e. pre-2003) versions.
UNLIKE trying to open a pre-2003 document in say, Office 2010 on Windows, you won't have to jump through hoops and recite arcane incantations to get it to open.  In OS X, if you try to open the docs by directly clicking on them in the finder, you'll get a warning message and they will not open directly, but all you have to do is open them from the File menu from within Word.

  • Yosemite compatibility with microsoft word 2008

I had held off on upgrading to Mavericks because of the issues surrounding the compatibility with Microsoft Word 2008. I am a student and need to use Word to do my work as well as having all of my current documents, including my thesis, in 2008 format. I don't want to risk losing the information or the ability to do my work and I was wondering if there is any information about whether the issue of compatibility with this version had been fixed. I don't have the means to buy a new version of Microsoft but would very much like to be able to update my system since I am still using Mountain Lion.

There has been a better and free alternative to old versions of MS Word and MS Office since forever. Apache OpenOffice 4.1.1 is the latest version of a free and complete All-In-One document processor, spreadsheet, drawing, presentation, database, & formula software, found here: http://www.openoffice.org
It also reads, writes and translates MS Word, saves in many formats, and is pretty easy to use. It's entirely modern and compatible with all the latest Mac operating systems. Good luck.

  • I am switching to Apple macbook pro from Windows laptop.  Is Apple compatible with Microsoft Office?  How can I transport from Windows to Mac?  What I have saved on external hardrives, will I be able to open it on Mac?

I am switching to Apple macbook pro from Windows laptop.  Is Apple compatible with Microsoft Office?  How can I transport from Windows to Mac?  What I have saved on external hardrives, will I be able to open it on Mac?

Is Apple compatible with Microsoft Office?
Any computer is compatible as long as it can read and write Office files. But for perfect (or at least near perfect) compatibility, you would want to purchase Office 2011 for Mac.
How can I transport from Windows to Mac?
You can't directly transport any installation of Windows. All PC's come with a machine specific version of Windows intended for that PC. They don't have all of the hardware drivers the retail disks cover.
If you want Windows on your Mac, you would first purchase a full version copy (NOT an upgrade disk) of Windows 7 or 8. Those are the only supported versions on newer Macs. You install it through the supplied Boot Camp utility that comes with the Mac to create a new partition for Windows, and then install the retail copy of Windows you purchased.
The reason only these versions of Windows are supported is the same basic reason as a machine specific version of Windows for a PC. Apple only includes the necessary Mac hardware drivers for Win 7 or 8 on new Macs.
Once Windows is installed, you could then install the version of Office for Windows you already own. The nuisance of a Boot Camp partition is that you have to physically boot to either Windows or OS X, so you can only use the apps of the OS you're in at the time. To use both at once, you'd have to use virtual machine software (Parallels, VMware, VirtualBox) and then install Windows within that. Then you'd be able to run Windows inside of OS X and have access to both at the same time.

  • On my 2008 MacBook I am running 10.6.8 with Microsoft Office 10.1.  Will this version of Office work if  I upgrade to Mountain Lion?

On my 2008 MacBook I am running 10.6.8 with Microsoft Office 10.1.  Will this version of Office work if  I upgrade to Mountain Lion?

No! Even Office 2004 will not run under Lion and newer. You can check out http://www.libreoffice.org/ and iWorks applications to replace Office.
Check your applications for Mavericks compatibility here:  http://roaringapps.com/
Note: a new version of Office for Mac is expected later this year or early next year. Buying Office 2011 now is buying old software. There will be no credits for older versions. The next version of Office will be subscription. This is the best option I know currently for subscription. This includes a free update to the new version when it's released.
Office 365 Home Premium 1yr Subscription
Regular List Price: $99.99  Price: $71.49 (price varies)
Licensed for one user to install on up to five devices (Mac or PC)

  • Does iWork come with a form of powerpoint presentation compatible with Microsoft Office Powerpoint?

I recently bought a MacBook Pro and need to purchase iWork or Microsoft Office. Does iWork come with a form of powerpoint presentation? If so, is it easy to use and compatible with Microsoft Office presentation software? The latter question is extremely important as we use Microsoft Office primarily at the college.

Yes, Keynote is iWork's PowerPoint equivalent. You can save as a PowerPoint file as well. Very easy to use IMO.
