  • ODI 10g to 11g repository upgrade: problem while reusing schema

    Hi,
    I have successfully upgraded 10g repository to 11g using UA.  To incorporate some changes in the 10g repository, we need to drop the existing 11g repository and re-upgrade the original 10g repository.
    I have truncated  the upgraded 11g schemas(master and work repo) in the database and copied the 10g contents into the empty schemas.
    But while trying to upgrade the schemas using UA, the UA is showing that the ODI schema is already upgraded!!
    It seems the UA is looking into some log of previous upgrade.
    Is there any way to identify / modify the previous upgrade logs so that I can use the same schema details in UA and upgrade again.
    Regards,
    Saby

    Hi Saby,
      I think you can delete such records from SCHEMA_VERSION_REGISTRY table.
      You will find this table under SYSTEM account in your 11g database.
      Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Santy.

  • Install OWB 10g (10.1) - Repository Assistant Design Repository Data TS

    The 10g Install/config guide B12150-01 states in chap 2 heading 2.3 para 8
    Select the tablespace for data. The tablespace for data stores the tables that Warehouse Builder creates in order to store the client's metadata. If you plan to run lineage impact analysis reports on your design metadata, do not select a tablespace that is locally managed and whose Segment Management Clause is set to AUTO. Default: USERS. (Recommendation: >50MB.)
    Can anyone tell me if the phrase that begins with "do not select"... is a documentation error, or, in fact, it works without this restriction. Normally, Oracle recommends this setting. Any further info on this would be gratefully appreciated.
    Thanks very much

    I don't know much about the 10g Releases yet but I had the same error with 9.0.2.3. The problem is that OID isn't available when it needs to be.
    When you get the error, start OID using the command line then try running the config assistant again.
    Hope this helps

  • Compare owb 9i code with 11g code

    HI
    Recently we migrated the 9i OWB's to 11g pls files.I need to verify whether correct versions were migrated or not.
    is there any way to Compare the 9i OWB's with 11g pls files?
    Note:9i databases with all OWB Components and 11g databases with new code is available.

    Hi
    Since you are using LCT Oracle to Oracle dblink you might as well remove the source execution unit and put the operators in the Oracle default target execution unit.

  • Application has problems when migrated from 10g to 11g

    Hi there,
    I am hoping someone can shed some light on a problem I have in moving an application from Oracle 10g to Oracle 11g. The app works fine on 10g (uses Apache webserver with PL/SQL module, and APEX 3.1.2.00.2), but on 11g using the embedded web server and APEX 3.2.0.00.27, it doesnt. Most of the app works fine, but there are a couple of pages that provide the ability to add child rows to a parent/child relationship, where the parameter passing mechanism from one page to the next appears to suffer from some sort of corruption. I have traced this using the "session" and "debug" buttons on the developer interface, which show that the values of the parameters get changed inexplicably, when branching from one page to the next - even when the page is actually branching to itself.
    I am using the "Set these items, "With these values" fields in the branch, and have verified that the correct values are being associated with the correct items in the application builder. But while this does work correctly under 10g, with 11g, the wrong values end up being passed. Just prior to the branch the set of parameters have the correct values, but immediately after the branch, one of the values is NULL, another has the value of a different item, and a third has a totally random value - I have no idea were it comes from!
    I migrated the application from 10g to 11g using the APEX application developer's Export/Import options. There have been no other changes. Should this have worked? If so, any ideas what might have gone wrong?
    Thanks,
    Sid.

    Well, I managed to solve this, but not in a way that makes much sense.
    In desperation (I had tried almost everything else!) I changed the value of "Cached" in the page settings from "No" to "Yes", and ran the app, but the page didnt render correctly (in either Firefox or IE7) - in fact all that displayed was the developers toolbar at the bottom of the page. I changed the value of "Cached" back to "Y", ran the app again, and hey presto - everything worked fine! I actually did this a second time with a fresh import of the app from 10g, just to be sure I wasnt seeing things. I wasnt!
    There was just one further issue - everything worked fine apart from this section of code in a page process:-
    ELSIF (:p9_filter_type = 5) THEN
    IF (:p9_x_gene_list IS NOT NULL) THEN
    :p9_filter := :p9_x_gene_list;
    END IF;
    :p9_entity_types := 'GENE';
    END IF;
    In 11g the value of :p9_entity_types was not being set to 'GENE' when :p9_filter_type was 5. This was (and still is) working in 10g. I changed the code as follows:-
    ELSIF (:p9_filter_type = 5) THEN
    :p9_entity_types := 'GENE';
    IF (:p9_x_gene_list IS NOT NULL) THEN
    :p9_filter := :p9_x_gene_list;
    END IF;
    END IF;
    ... and now it works fine in 11g as well.
    Only wish I knew why!

    Should I set any java paths or anything.
    Thanks

    Hi
    As mentioned by Andreas you must not have the ORACLE_HOME environment variable set when you are doing this work. You also need to make sure that you don't have any Oracle software running, that all services (if on Windows) are shut down, and that you don't have any other environment variables that Oracle would use. Thus you probably shouldn't have CLASSPATH, PERL5LIB or QTJAVA set. What I do is rename these to ORACLE_HOME1, CLASSPATH1, PERL5LIB1 and QTJAVA1.
    The final thing I do is to alter my Path to remove all references to existing Oracle software. I save my existing path first though so that I can put it back later (funny how a backup comes in handy at times). Then after the install I look to see what path settings OWB added and I insert these into my original path, reinstating any environment variables that have not been replaced by OWB.
    I got to tell you that I find it a pain in the neck that some Oracle software won't install when they detect another Oracle product on the same machine. When you think about it, how head shakingly, frustrating is that in the modern world? Personally I, and my clients, are crying out to see these elementary interactions overcome once and for all.
    Things are certainly improving but boy its exasperating when one product interferes with another from the same vendor.
    Does this help?
    Regards
    Michael

  • Accessing OWB 10g Respository through OWB 11g Client

    We have an Oracle Database 10.2, we installed OWB 10.2 and created a repository.
    I want to install OWB 11g Client and use the existing repository. Is this Compatable.
    Thanks in advance for your suggessions.

    No, there were substantial repository changes in OWB 11g, you cannot connect an OWB 11g client with an OWB 10g repository - but you can host an OWB 11g repository in a 10g database though.
    Cheers

  • OWB 10g/11g version control

    I am using OWB 10g release 2 but there is no feature for version control. The snapshot feature and export/import can help but Its very difficult with big project.
    Is there any new feature with OWB 11g release 1 or 2 for version control ? Do you have any proposition for version control in 10g ?

    Edited by: user451399 on 2009-06-12 08:07

    Hi Robin,
    In the repository there can be only one version at the moment. If you have to work on an older release, you have to load it into another repository.
    We proceed as follows:
    1. Build a collection containing all objects that belong to the release
    2. Export that collection
    3. Check the file into CVS
    4. Import the file into production repository (in production db)
    5. Deploy from the production repository to the production target schema
    That way the release that is currently deployed on production is also in the production repository. You may do hotfixes directly here or just have a look at what is currently deployed.
    In our development repository we can work on new features.
    I gave a talk about automating this process on DOAG 2008. You may request the presentation here [http://www.metafinanz.de/leistungen/leistungsbereiche/bi-reporting/data-warehousing/kontaktformular/|http://www.metafinanz.de/leistungen/leistungsbereiche/bi-reporting/data-warehousing/kontaktformular/]
    Though the slides are in german they show the architecture and should give you some idea.
    Regards,
    Carsten.

  • Is OWB 11.1 compatible with 11g database  cubes/dimensions

    I heard OWB 11.1 stores data in 10g format and it is not compatible with 11g format. However AWM 11.1 creates 11g compatible data. Is it true? Any idea?
    thanks

    Hi
    That is correct, the OWB 10gR2 and 11gR1 releases both generate OLAP 10g style cubes using the AWXML api. AWM 11.1 can create/administer both 10g and 11g styles cubes. Needless to say, it takes a little time to catch up with an ever changing API....plenty of fun stuff to come ;-)
    Cheers

  • OWB 10g R1 - trying to connect to 11g database

    Hi,
    Is it possible for OWB 10g R1 (10.1.0.3.0) to connect to a database on Oracle 11g, incidentally it is Oracle 64bit. Currently I am having difficulty when deploying objects, the error message says it cannot find the remote object on the Oracle 11g database.
    Thanks,
    Marlise Burke

    Hi user589658 ,
    Do you have the reference to the Metalink document that States that?
    We have an old 10g rel 1 repository and we now have to generate mappings to extract from , and populate another 11g database.
    The metalink reference would help us to justify to management the upgrade of our OWB repository and clients to 11g
    Thanks
