Happy new Year .. can any one tell me if the the sony cyber shot DSC-P100 / P120 can be connected to a Ipod with the Ipod camera connector I have been all over cyber world.. searching for hours and cant find a straight answer only a little hint. any info gratefuly recieved..

I have heard that there is a list of compatible cameras on the apple website, but it doesn't include all cameras! I would purchase it from a retailer that will allow you to return it if it doesn't work.

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-W350. It has never ejected correctly from either of my Macs. I had a Macbook running Snow Leopard, and now have a Macbook Pro running Maverick. I always get the "disk was not ejected correctly" message, even though I drag it to the trash, yadita, yadita. The most recent surprise was when the camera was automatically ejected before I was done using iPhoto, and was (of course) "not ejected correctly". If anyone has a fix I am listening closely! I always thought it was probably the driver, but don't know if it is a Mac or Sony thing.

The DSC-H2 and H5 have a serious design flaw, the shutter button posts are about 1/32 of an inch thick and break ALL THE TIME. Don't waste your money buying another one from Sony for $25+ because it will just break again.
You want an aluminum post so that it will NEVER break again!! Sony doesn't sell them and won't admit there's a problem with the camera design. They will charge you $171 to fix the camera if you want to send it in to them though! Not a very good deal if you ask me.
The only place to get a solid aluminum shutter release button post is from Darntoothysam.com and the complete repair package is only $70 if you want to send it in for repair.
$25 for the same plastic post that already broke, or $25 for a solid aluminum one with a lifetime guarantee it will never break again?

Anyone know if the DSC-HX9V is compatable with iphoto?

I just spent time online with Sony Support. And did some tests. iPhoto will import the video only if it is recorded at 720p. Any higher res will not be recognized and imported from the camera. Unfortunately with the Mac, iPhoto will start any USB capture automatically from the camera. IPhoto will import any stills or low res videos, but ignore any high res videos. When you do an "Import All" and then later Ok a full delete of the camera memory, it will delete even hi res video files not imported.
So the workaround is to not delete the files - then go to iMovie - which will import the hi res AVCHD files using the USB connector. Beware if you delete the video then, the hi res version of the file will be lost forever. You will then only have a low res version left in your iMovie folder.
Copy directly any files to your hard drive if you want to save them as virgin AVCHD.
I am looking for a lower cost viewer for Mac for virgin AVCHD files. I would like to save them for the time that Apple finally endorses AVCHD, burns Blue Ray and will accept the HD fiiles into Quicktime - the default player for Mac.

Can't get IPOD Camera Connector to work with Sony Cyber-shot

I have just purchased the camera connector to use on my up and coming trip to the USA, so it will free up more space on my camera.
I have a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P200 which is listed on Apples site of cameras that are compatable with this connector.
When i connect the cameras USB cable to import photos i get message on ipod saying no card inserted.
I have tried different makes of memory cards and changed the transfer setting on my camera from normal to PTP as apple site suggested, still nothing.
Does anyone have any other ideas?

Importing images from a Sony Cyber-shot

I just bought a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W80. When I connect the camera, I can view the images in iPhoto and Image Capture, but I cannot import them. I just get the beach ball forever, and have to force quit iPhoto. If I try to use Image Capture, it just spins, and eventually I quit the app. I have connected several different cameras before with zero problems. I tried re-starting with no gain. The System Profiler recognizes the camera. I'm fresh out of ideas!

Can you connect the camera and go to the finder and drag the photos to a deaktop folder then import them into iPhoto?
Although I do not do that many of the experienced iPhoto users prefer that work flow and it does make it less likely that you can lose photos due to an error

IPad Air won't import video from Sony Cyber-shot W830 camera

We are able to import pictures from a Sony Cyber-shot W830 camera to an iPad Air using the lightning to USB adapter and a powered USB hub. However, if there is video on the camera along with the pictures, or only video on the camera, no option to import to the iPad will show up. I can get video onto the iPad by syncing with iTunes but I'd like to be able to accomplish it using the adapter when we are away from home and without internet access. Any suggestions?

I have got some photos on card, so can't format before importing.
Anyway, after I imported the photos on my old Macbook pro, I format the card in camera, no selection for FAT32, FAT or ... After formatting, I took some new photos for a test. On the new Macbook, the same problem occurred again.

What does a video file appear like. what type of file extension does an mp4 have? Do I need a google App ? I have enough cloud space to do so. What is wrong with it? A lot of the time, cameras outside of warranty are not worth fixing depending on the damage.

Not under Mac OS X 10.6 for RAW. 10.7 supports it with iPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4. Unfortunately you'll have to kiss your PowerPC software good bye, unless you want to run a special Parallels solution, or a separate partition running 10.6 on your machine, which would require cloning twice to two separate drives, and partitioning for just a 10.7 system with the iPhoto or Aperture version of your choice, leaving enough room for 10.6 and the applications that need it. Sony cyber shot, getting the memory due to work with the iPad camera kit

Has anyone been able to find this SD card / memory stick adapter? I checked with Amazon and can not locate.
My issue is Im leaving for England on Saturday so I have a week to try to find something that will allow my Sony DSC-HX5V 10.2MP CMOS Digital Camera with 10x Wide Angle Zoom with Optical Steady Shot Image Stabilization and 3.0 inch LCD that uses a memory stick pro due to work with my camera connection kit. I have a new samsung digital camera that has SD card which I can use that with the camera connection kit BUT when I plug into USB the camera will not work\
I am basically afraid to purchase this camera and it does not work through USB or the card reader, even if it does work through the USB interface which would be awesome I would still like for it to work with the card reader in case I misplace the capable etc.
Any help is appreciated. Last question also is the camera I am getting is the only digital camera besides the higher end video cameras that have GPS of which I own one but its a lot bulkier to carry which is why I am buying this one. Does anyone have any clue if the GPS data will transfer? I know Apple iPhoto has GPS places recognition, I just dont know if Sony's propierty nature will make it uncompatible b/c they come with a software program to view the gps pictures.

Did you purchase the Sony DSC-HX5V? I am looking at buying that same camera because of the GPS function, as well as the fact that it can take the SD card as well as the Sony memory stick.
I am a bit confused by your question though? Are you saying that when you use the SD card, and you connect the camera to your macbook, the camera doesn't work?
As for the GPS stuff, I am hoping you have found an answer to this quesion, as it will be key in determining whether or not I buy the Sony or instead the Panasonic Lumix ZS7, which also has GPS tagging (I hear the sony has more accurate data).

Problem with imported movies from Sony Cyber Shot

Hello all, I have an unusal problem.
My mate has got a brand new sony cybershot camera which does movies.
These movies import into iPhoto no problem with sound.
However if I then use that clip in iMovie there is no sound, it does not matter how I try to import. I have tried importing direct from the sony card, from the import menu and from dragging. Still no dice.
What should be the next step?
