Compatible chargers for Droid Maxx?

I've seen warnings that I should only use the charger that came in the box with the Droid Maxx. I'd like to know what specs I should look for when purchasing additional wall chargers and/or car chargers. I've heard that using the wrong type of charger can actually damage the battery. Is that true or will it just not charge it as fast? I have several chargers from my Droid Bionic I'd like to be able to use if possible, but I love the battery life on my new phone and don't want to damage it. Thanks!

As long as the charger fits your phone, you are fine. Personally, I use a charger that I bought off of Amazon.com (it says Amazon.com on the charger itself) because the wire was much longer than the stock charger my Droid came with. I have used this same charger for 3 Droids now, and it works wonderfully.
The user's manual tells you to use the charger that the phone came with in order to avoid any liability issues should you choose to go jamming the wrong charger in the phone. It's basically just to cover themselves. But you can indeed use after-market chargers that fit the charging port for your Droid.

  • Sim Tray Replacemet.. For Droid Maxx,  Droid Ultra, and Mini..

I found a Place online that carries the Sim Tray / Volume Rocker  for the Droid Maxx,  Droid Ultra and Mini I think also uses this as Well.. I don't know how the Longevity is in these Sim Trays as they double as a Volume Rocker so having one or Two on hand would be a nice thing when & if the one in the Device goes bad..  I found this company that's carrying the replacement so if you need one I'd say give them a Call or Call Motorola and one can be sent if in stock to you Quickly with a small fee for S & H
Here is the Company that Handles them.. there may be more that has them but I found this one Enjoy b33

  • Charging your Droid MAXX - overnight charge versus not?

Can anyone settle a debate over the best charging practices for Droid MAXX? The salesperson strongly advised me to "never" leave the phone charging overnight. He said this will drain the battery over time because the new batteries have a set number of charging hours. However, the tips that are being delivered directly to my new Droid MAXX explicitly state to leave the phone charging overnight  to get the best battery life during the day. Which charging method is best to get the most out of my battery over the duration of my two-year contract?

I also have a new Droid Maxx. After MUCH reading on this matter, I have downloaded a free app called Battery Full Notification. It will beep or whatever sound you select when the battery has reached 100%. That's ALL this app does. I read in many forums that it is bad for these batteries to be left on the charger after full. I put mine on the charger beside my bed when I go to sleep(plug in - NOT WIRELESS...those chargers generate alot of heat which also damages the battery) . I leave the phone turned on since it is also my alarm clock. When it beeps, I unplug from the charger and go back to sleep. In the morning, I turn the phone off and restart to clear any "gunk". I start the day with 97 or so % battery and usually finish with around 40%. I have gone two days just to see if it would....but with my normal, moderate use it is comfortable to not run out of juice before lunch like I did with my old Thunderbolt. I also read that half or partial charges are best for longterm battery life than draining completely and charging to full. Hope this helps. And enjoy your new Maxx.....I SURE AM!!

  • Trying to use hangouts for sms on verizon droid maxx but "can't compose"

I'm trying to use hangouts for SMS on my Verizon Droid Maxx but the message "Can't compose. No default SMS app." displays when I try to compose (+") a new message, even though the top of the screen says that "Hangouts is your SMS app".  What do I need to do?

        Good Afternoon, dgcaskey,
I love my Hangouts application. Let's see if we can get this up and running for you. Have you been able to use this application before? Or did you just installed this app onto your phone? Have you been able to delete the application off the phone and redownload it? When you receive a text message does it come in through the Hangouts app or the normal stocked application that is on the phone? Please keep us posted.

  • Has anyone noticed that the Otterbox Defender case for the Droid Maxx is not manufactured correctly?

After ordering 2 cases from Otterbox directly, and having to send both of them back, I called a Verizon store and had them compare the Otterbox Defender case for the Droid Maxx to the actual phone.  They were surprised to note that the hole for the camera on the case (to the left of the speaker) was on the opposite side of the camera on the phone (to the right of the speaker).  And, there is no hole for the camera's sensor on the Otterbox case.

Then return it to an Apple Store and complain and if neccessary get your money back

    Interesting post, I enjoyed it.
However, keep in mind, Arch is not Fedora. It is not Red-Hat-esque, not newbie-friendly, nor will it ever aim to be so.
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/The_Arch_Way
The way Arch does things is different in that it strives to use the most elegant and simple methodology. Note that simple does not mean "user-friendly", it means just that, simple. System configuration is left entirely up to the user. There are no GUI configuration tools; system resource controls are handled through configuration files and from the command line. This is unlikely to change.
What you may see as unfinished or raw, is actually the way Arch devs and users prefer the system to be, so your assumption that Arch has not reached version 1.0 is not quite accurate in this sense.
"It is what you make it." In other words, you build it, but it won't hold your hand along the way.
Take advantage of the excellent documentation in the wiki (especially the beginner's guide) and the community. When you adopt the Arch way of doing things, I am sure your C+ rating will go up, as you will have gained the knowledge of how truly elegant and powerful Arch can be.
    Welcome to Arch!

It is listed under the advanced options for the WiFi settings or About Phone > Status within the phone's settings
Motorolas list them under About Phone > Status.
Edit:  Oh, snap!  It is listed in both places.     Nevermind!  Please excuse!

  • Is there a way to get push notifications for social apps on the Droid Maxx

Is there a way to get push notifications for social apps on the Droid Maxx? With text messaging, you will see a badge icon, but I wasn't sure if you could do that for social networks, too.

        @cmabbott85,
I can definitely understand how important it can be to get your Facebook or Twitter notifications on your phone.
As @rcshnoor mentioned, each app does have the option to turn the notification on or off. You need to launch the App and go into the Menu. Then go to App Settings and make sure notifications are checked.

  • Can't use MotoCast on my new Droid Maxx

I just upgraded from a Droid 4 to the Droid Maxx. I tried downloading the MotoCast app but it says it is not compatible with my phone. I am looking for a substitute. I want a super easy way to auto upload my photos to from my phone to computer. I know I can use Drive/Dropbox/cloud programs to transfer them to a folder on my computer, but not automatically. I have to go in, select all/new photos on my phone, and then hit upload. Does anyone know how I can streamline this process so it auto saves my phones pics on my computer whenever I am in range. I really really really miss that about motocast.

There's lots of great options to pick from to back up your media, CelesMaria. The best I'd suggest is Verizon Cloud. Not only can you move files from your phone to computer or computer to phone, but the backup will automatically occur daily. For more information about this program, visit http://vz.to/1uLq7Zv.

  • "Unfortunately, Messaging has stopped" error keeps popping up and text messages are not being received on Droid Maxx I got less than 2 weeks ago.

I upgraded to a Droid Maxx about 2 weeks ago and all seemed well. Last Friday, I started receiving an "Unfortunately, Messaging has stopped" error message randomly--sometimes when I was writing a text, sometimes when I would open other apps, there was no rhyme or reason to when it would occur. Now it also appears that I am not receiving some of my texts. I called Verizon Support who told me that they are experiencing this problem on several devices and that she was going to forward me to someone for help. 20 minutes later, no one had picked up and I had to leave. So I thought I would try here to see if Verizon has come up with a fix for this, if I should get another phone, or if they are working on a software update or something. Help, I really liked this phone until now!

    Hello,
I am using the messaging app that was preloaded with the phone, the green face icon. I do not have an "Android Keyboard" app, but I have cleared the cache on the "Messaging" app, several times. I have also gone to the Verizon store where an associate did a soft reboot, telling me that would work. A very short time later, the error message started appearing again--so this did not work either.
The error message comes very sporadically. Sometimes several in a few minutes, other times not for hours.

  • Does anyone have Bluetooth failures with Mot Razr Droid Maxx using car hands free systems

Both my wife and I have Razr Droid Maxx's and are having the same problems with our respective cars.  At times, the phone will drop the bluetooth connection and it will have to be rebooted at which point it will be discovered and re-connected to the car.  The problem is NOT in the car, as we have a Ford Fusion and a Toyota Camry and we encounter the same problem with both.
Both phones are running Ice Cream Sandwich and we have verified all of the bluetooth settings at both ends of the connection. For some reason the phones.
The problem is particularly annoying in that, at least in the Camry, you are unable to reconnect the phone while driving, so you have to pull over and put the car in Park in order to do it.
Verizon tech support and the Verizon store have been of no help.  They simply shrug their shoulders and say they have never heard of the problem.
Has anyone else had issues like this?

I use Razr HD Maxx and used to have bluetooth disconnect problems during the calls. I tried everything I could think of, all in vain. Factory-reset solved the problem only for a while. Finally, I have found that some communication apps like Viber have the nasty habit of asserting itself every few minutes during non-Viber calls and reset both the bluetooth and speakerphone state to the default mode. This causes bluetooth to disconnect or turn off the speakerphone a few minutes into every non-Viber call. If you have an app like Viber, try either freezing it or uninstalling it. Uninstalling Viber was the only permanent solution to my bluetooth disconnect problems.

  • My droid maxx fell into a deep puddle got out as quickly as I could what do i need to do to make it work again

My droid maxx fell into a deep puddle of water just a few moments ago .  Got it out as fast as I could  but can't take battery out for the droid maxx what do i do?

While there is nothing you can do to guarantee it will work again, there are things you can do to increase the chances.
Dry it off as best you can with a towel or some type of cloth. Do not try to turn it back on. If it is on, turn it off as soon as possible to lessen the chance of shorting out the phone. Place it in a sealed plastic bag with a dessicant for several days. Something similar to THIS would work best. They are the little bags which come in shoes/electronics to keep moisture from them, but if you do not have ready access put the phone in a sealed plastic bag filled with uncooked rice.
Leave it in for several days before taking it out and giving it a try.
