Compatible devices/accessories question

This may have been addressed in one of the many posts before it and if it has been I apologize and would be grateful for a referral to its answer...
I'm looking to buy a 4th Generation nano 16GB and am perfectly alright with it not charging on my non apple devices. What I am worried about is it not playing on those devices at all (my other ipod which cost me $250 just last year was stolen and once I buy this new ipod I sure won't have money to spend on new apple accessories, as fun as they might be). So my question is, if anybody has any personal experience to share, will this new ipod nano work with my belkin car adapter (not a tape adapter, one that plugs into the charger part of the pod) and/or my jensen ipod alarm clock?
Thanks in advance for your help!

My dad bought me a Belkin charger today and when I plugged my 4th gen iPod in, it wouldn't charge. It said on the screen "Charging is not supported by this accessory" and it won't work with my Belkin TuneSync either. It just won't charge it for some reason.

  • No wia compatible devices Win 7

I used PS and an Epson 1650 scanner for many years. Bought a new Win 7 64 bit computer recently and installed CS 6 Extended.  Now, when I try to import from the scanner I get the error msg:  "No WIA compatible devices were detected."
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • "WIA support" says "No WIA compatible devices were detected"

I have just got PS6, Windows 7, 64-bit. I am trying to connect my old scanner, an Epson Perfection 4870 Photo.
The Adobe "Help" says that I must use WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) instead of TWAIN.
However, when I go File > Import > WIA support (as per many instructions online), I just get the message "No WIA compatible devices were detected".
I have ensured the driver for my scanner is up-to-date.
I am unable to find any advice online for how to determine whether I have this WIA software on my PC.
I am unable to find any advice on whether the scanner and WIA are, indeed, incompatible (in which case, I'd be fighting a losing battle).
If anyone has any experience with this issue, I'd love to hear from you.
    Thanks.

WIA,  even if you have it is very limited. You would be better off scanning to file with the Epson scanner software and opening it in Photoshop. Twain only exists for 32 bit Photoshop, which is also installed along with the 64 bit version.  Of course there is a 2 GB limit to the memory 32 bit Photoshop can access.
Twain also holds up Photoshop until the scan is done.
If you still want Twain, a third party paid solutions is Vuescan, which supports 2500 scanners and gives you a lot of control over your scan. It comes with 32 bit and 64 bit Vuescan twain drivers if you wish to scan from the menu.

  • Compatible devices

Hi ,looking for something like a pocket pc which is compatible with Mac Tiger which has a voice recorder capability and ,preferably, a phone , but not essential
I got the following Apple list of phones that will sync but my guess is they are all obsolete now as its quite old
iSync: Supported mobile phones in Mac OS X v10.4, 10.5, and 10.6
anyone got any suggestions please? Thanks

Most current products, such as an iPod Touch or other item which could sync with a
Mac and provide certain kinds of functions, would require a later OS X version than
    Tiger 10.4.11. You could get and use OS X 10.5.8 Leopard in your old PPC Mac;
and that should support some newer product, for a time at least.
    There are apps for newer data phones to use them as portable computer devices;
they have microphones, cameras, and elegant features. If you go to buy anything
new, be sure to read the product specification and support information beforehand.
With new Apple products, their specs and requirements are in the Store, online.
{Many require the use of a later iTunes app and the newer version of iTunes Store
    as viewed via the app online; once installed. This requires a newer OS X than Tiger.}
So, you may have a time getting the retail version Leopard 10.5, but you could
try calling Apple Sales at 1-800-MY-APPLE* and ask about getting this system
from Apple; since it no longer is available in a retail environment. If available, it
could set you back about $129. or so; that's less than an auction/ebay gamble.
**In the UK,* look to the upper left-hand margin in the online Apple Store to see the
contact number for the Apple Sales, to see about getting the outdated OS X 10.5
retail version DVD, if still available. *Apple UK Sales phone: 0800 048 0408*
The issues surrounding compatible devices really depend on what ones are
considered; and then what supporting OS version they require to work. As I
do not have any idea on that matter, perhaps someone will offer more ideas?
    Good luck & happy computing!

    You might try this:
    Open Device Manager.
Right click the Steelseries keyboard under "Keyboards" and/or the MSI device, and choose to "Update Driver Software".
Choose "Browse my computer for driver software"
Browse to the SteelSeriesDrivers folder. On my computer it's in Program Files\SteelSeries\SteelSeries Engine.

  • No compatible devices detected - error

    Hello
I have a normal Samsung digital camera and I am trying to use Photoshop's help to install photos using WIA support, but Photoshop tells me that no compatible devices were detected. I have Win XP and I have installed the most recent Abobe update. The camera is switched on and uses a USB cable. If I disconnect the camera from the PC tower and plug in a flash drive, the PC can detect it.
    What could be wrong please?
    Thanks
    Steve

    Hello
many thanks to you both for your replies.
I'll look into a card-reader if I can't resolve this, but usually I don't have problem with it.
Yes, I get the sound recognition noise when I plug in the cables and turn the camera on.
I have attached two screen shots. Windows is seeing the camera as a removable device as it would a flash drive, but that other image looks a bit bare to me. Usually it asks I I want Windows to copy the images from a camera or scanner, which I think might imply that some Windows settings have changed/files missing - and maybe that is why Photoshop cannot see the camera?
    Thanks again.

  • ICA-compatible device + ImageCapture Tiger SDK

I have a brand new iMac running Leopard 10.5.2. I ran the CameraCheck program from the ImageCaptureTigerSDK, and it reports "number of ICA devices found: 0".
    Question 1: Isn't iMac's built-in camera ICA-compatible?
Question 2: Is it true any camera/scanner recognized by Mac OS X is available as source through the ImageCapture SDK?
Question 3: Perhaps this SDK is not compatible with Leopard? (I doubt so)
Question 4: If I need to write an application to capture live video+audio, is this the correct SDK to use?
    Thank you in advance.

  • 10Gb-10Gb cross-device compatibility questions (PHY-connectors)...

Hi, all, in general, I'm a little surprised at all the PHYsical layer standards running 10Gb Ethernet. This seems to have hindered adoption rate substantially. I have been recently getting questions like can I connect this server chassis to this switch device. or can I connect future-proof the switch deployment now so that it will handle 10Gb firewalls when we buy those. And we have some older 6509e chassis with SUP-720, which don't seem to be able to support SFP+ linecards easily. this is pretty confusing, so just wondering if someone has found a document covering all the PHY-layer interoperability gotcha's.
I found this link, which shows the different 10Gb cards/modules for the switches:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/interfaces_modules/transceiver_modules/compatibility/matrix/OL_6974.html
And this link, which explains the different L2 connector types
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10-gigabit_Ethernet
    Questions:
    1. What is required for 6509e with VS-SUP720-10G to support SFP+ 10Gb connectors? looks like I need a WS-X6708-10G-3C with a special convertor: CVR-X2-SFP10G? will this WS-X6708-10G-3C run with VS-SUP720-10G?
    2. In general, can I always adapt a XenPak/X2 connector to a SFP+ connector somehow with a special dual-end cable?
    3. Are there any connector types that will not be compatible with each other? Such as Xenpack wont connect to X2. I could read the matrix, but wondering if anyone ran across any that stick out for them?
    4. If I have a cable such as this SFP-H10GB-CU5M=  (SFP+ twinax), will that work to connect up a typical server such as HP proliant with an SFP+ NIC, in almost all cases? one reason I ask is that I see the server guys bringing in their SFP+ Direct Copper cables with premade SFP+ ends, and wondering if those will be fine in most cases connecting up to cisco switch side. Or vice versa, if I use the pre-made cisco cable, will it connect to a server NIC? historically, different vendors didn't play nice with regard to these SFP standards. Does this relegate me to pretty much buying cisco SFP+ connectors in some version of fiber, and connect them to the HP-branded SFP+ fiber connectors?
    5. what are the future adoption plans for 10GBASE-T (8P8C). It seems like cisco makes a connector (X2-10GB-T), which looks promising. Is anyone using those? Does anyone think that will become the predominate standard in time, like it has for 1GB connections?

X2-10GB-T is end of life soon.
There is a SFP+ version like

  • New Nano compatible with accessories?

    Hi,
I just bought accessories for the Nano (a TuneBase device with FM Transmitter) and am about to buy a new Nano in a week.
Is the new Nano about the same size? Will the connecting accessories be compatible with the new ones?
    Hopefully they will.
If someone has a new Nano and some previous connecting accessories, thanks to let us know about possible problems.

According to iLounge in its first look, the headphone port is slightly moved...

  • User device affinity question

    hi there,
I have a question around user device affinity with regards to users that have multiple devices due the usage of those machines.
in most of our cases, users have 1 machine so any targeting of software with the requirement of user being primary user works fine, but we have a number of cases, mainly IT guys and engineers, who run up multiple machines constantly and therefore have
many "primary" devices, although 1 will probably be their main computer.  If I targeted those users with an uninstall program for, let say Visio, and lets say visio was indeed installed on all of a particular users computers, then, as all those
computers are regarded as primary device for that user, all visio installs will be removed from all computers.  there is no way to differentiate that I only want visio uninstalled from a users "main" primary device.  ie. it is a case
of all or nothing.  is that correct, and if so, would it then be a better bet in these cases to uninstall using a computer based method rather then user based, or an SCCM technician would need to make sure that device affinity was cleaned up prior to
    any uninstall deployment?
I can see how device affinity works nicely where users work as they are supposed to, ie with 1 device. but it is the groups that don't fit into this pattern that I'm trying to get my head around how to manage when deploying apps to users rather than the
old method of packages to computers.
also, as an aside, I assume that the uninstall program set up in a deployment type, runs the requirement tests before running in the same way that if you where running the install program it tests?
    thanks
    douglas

To specify a primary device, you would need to set the User Device Affinity threshold.  By default, it is 2880 minutes over 30 days.  Then, when you create your Deployment Type, you would use the Requirements tab to set Primary Device = True.
This way, it will only run on the primary device that was determined by that setting.
And yes, the Detection Method runs for uninstalls the same way as it does installs.
