Compatible digital cameras for camera connector

Hi there!
THis is my first pot here so I hope you will accept me fine.
And a Merry Christmas aswell!
Well I have decided to buy me a mp3 player, but as I always carry my digital camera with me I wanted to have one with the capability to hold pictures so I chose ipod.
But when I looked for compatible cameras I havent found my camera amongst those. I own a Konica Minolta DiMage A200.
I will not buy it if it doesent supporty my camera, but at that page it says that there is still a chance it will support it, so I turned to you, the users!
Does anyone own the same camera and ipod with camera connector? Do you have a friend that does?
Help me out please!

anyone?

  • Compatible Card Readers for Camera Connector?

Has anyone found a media card reader that is compatible with the iPod Camera Connector? There are none listed on the Apple's official list of devices compatible with the connector.
As I travel and take photos at various sci fi and comic book conventions, I'd really like to get the camera connector to help with storage issues. An iPod is so much easier to carry than a laptop.

I tested out my Canon Digital Rebel (the original, not the XT or XTi) and it will also download to the iPod using the iPod Camera Connector. The only problem is it kills the iPod's battery almost completely to download a 1GB Compact Flash card.
I found that my Lexar USB 2.0 Multi-Card Reader does NOT work with the camera connector. I have to go find one that does.

  • A list of compatible digital camcorders for imovie 6.0.1 (255)

I'm looking for a list of camcorders that are compatible with imovie 6.0.1. I have a JVC GR-DVL9500U and it will intermittently work, what I mean is on a fresh install of the application and reset of the camera imovie will recognize the camcorder, the application will work with the camcorder for a few minutes then the application locks up and it forces me to do a hard restart with the power button, when the computer reboots the camcorder is no longer recognized. Does anyone have a list of supported camcorders or a solution to my problem?
    Thanks
2.3GHz Power Mac G5 Cheese Grater   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   mem 3GB, ATI Radeon 9650

Most camcorders which have a little FireWire/DV/i.Link connector are pretty much compatible with iMovie, although different models may have different quirks.
Long ago Apple said that it wouldn't or couldn't test every camcorder with every new release of iMovie, but the latest list of camcorders ..which is never complete or up-to-date, should be here, but - as you can see - it just leads to different manufacturers' own web-sites nowadays, as Apple just can't test every single cam which is on the market.
Apple's info and suggestions about getting camcorders to be recognised by iMovie is here.
Essentially, it involves trying every permutation of camera off, or camera on, before connecting to or starting iMovie ..or starting iMovie with the camera already connected and playing ..or not!
Things you might try include throwing away iMovie's Preferences ..i.e; a file called "com.apple.iMovie.plist" which is stored in <your user name>/Library/Preferences.
Dan's excellent "Unofficial iMovie FAQ" also has possible answers to this and many many more iMovie questions, here.

  • Best Digital Camera For Macbook

    Hi,
I want to know whats the best digital cameras that support the Macbook and is under $300?

There's little reason to worry about digital camera compatibility with the MacBook. If the camera uses compact flash or any of the other multitude of memory card media available today the additional purchase of a memory card reader makes any camera compatible even if it doesn't play nice when connecting the camera to the computer directly. (I hate doing this anyway because it uses up the battery)
Everyone has their own favorite camera manufacturer. Once upon a time I was a Kodak color film fan because their film had superior skin tones and color saturation. But then Fuji Film pushed ahead. Digital cameras don't use film obviously, but each camera has its own color rendering qualities. I particularly like Canon and Fuji cameras for their color accuracy. Kodak's are pretty good too but in low light situations tend to have more noise than others and greys tend to be washed out. (Yep, I'm a camera buff.)
If you intend to take action shots look for cameras with low shutter lag, which tends to be a big problem with digital cameras. A couple summers ago my wife took lots of pictures of where the whales were just a second ago.

  • I have a Sony DCR -SR32 which does not appear in the list of compatible cameras for imovie '11. Does anyone know if there is way to import files from this camera ?

I have a Sony DCR-SR32 HDD video camera which does not appear in the list of compatible cameras for imovie '11. Does anyone know if there is way of importing video from this camera to imovie ?
    Thanks
    Pheona

    Greetings Pheona,
That appears to be a hard drive based camecorder.  Usually these mount on the desktop of your computer as a little white hard drive icon.  If you go inside you should be able to find the movie files the camera is saving.  See what format they are (the last 3 letters at the end of the file name is a good place to start).
You can drag the movie files from the camera hard drive to the computer to copy them.  Then convert them with a video file conversion program to a format iMovie can understand.
Try converting one of the files using a video file conversion program like Video Monkey: http://videomonkey.org/downloads/
In the "Convert to" drop down menu choose "DV" (Preferred), "Quicktime", or "MP4".  Then import the resulting file into iMovie and see if that works any better.
If that program can't convert the files you can try another file conversion program:

    Hi,
As far as I know, Sony Ericsson Z520, like a lot of the other cell phones, doesnt support bluetooth serial communication.
    See:
    http://developer.sonyericsson.com/entry.jspa?externalID=138&categoryID=5
BUT(!) You should double check this information.
If you ask me, we have done similar project.
We are working on hobby project our robot use J2ME cell phone as on-board brain.
And there is connection between this small robot and Linux-based PC.
Communication was done via BlueTooth (in reality we use Linux implementation of BlueTooth stack and obexftp).
BUT (!) We use Siemens S75 for this communication.
Im afraid that Siemens is the only manufacture, which implemented serial communication over bluetooth, embedded camera and non-usb socket.
Also there are some Motorola phones, which implement serial communication over bluetooth.
But note that all Motorola phones use USB sockets and it will not be easy for you to make connection between such a phone and the robot.
If you need just connection between cell phone and PC, then may be USB is OK too.

  • Using Consumer Digital Camera for the Vision System

I am evaluating, if I can use a consumer digital camera for the vision system. I wanted to see if anybody out there have done that in past? The other question is, do the consumer camera manufacturers provide the driver software in order to retrive the images directly from the camera to the computer ?

I think your suggestion is right, using a firewire camera is much
straightforward. But some consumer cameras have advantages too because
of the very high resolution, especially the newer models of digital
still camera. If the cameras support PTP protocol, then I have a
LabVIEW driver for them. Check out more details at:

  • I wanted to ask whether the camera for ipod touch comparable to a digital camera? if not are there apps available that can turn it into a digital camera? i want to buy an ipod touch and i like photography....what should i do?plz suggest

i  wanted to ask whether the camera for ipod touch comparable to a digital camera? if not are there apps available that can turn it into a digital camera? i want to buy an ipod touch and i like photography....what should i do? plz suggest

The iPod touch has a very rudimentary camera.  It has only a 0.6 MP resolution, no optical zoom, no flash, etc.   There is no app that can improve this as it is limited by the hardware. So it is not a replacement for a digital camera (nor even for an iPhone whose camera has a 5.0 MP resolution.

  • Compatible HD movie camera for final cut express

I am in the unenviable position of having a ten year old who is savvy in Final Cut (has used it on a friends computer) and has now begged for the program for his birthday (this week). So I bought the program but now his camera has broken - can someone please please recommend a relatively cheap HD recorder that would work with final cut express (something under 500 pounds would be awesome ie under 700 USD) - finding the info online not all that helpful and have been to Apple store in London and NY! to ask which camera they would rec. but they cant recommend one (brand favourite). Be so grateful if you could help.

Hi and welcome to the forum!
The only HD formats FCE supports are HDV and AVCHD. You should be able to find middle-end models of both for under 500 pounds. I'd recommend asking your son whether he prefers the idea of the traditional tape based camcorder (in this case HDV) or wants a hard drive based camera (AVCHD). Both will work fine with FCE, and you could then do a quick and easy search on the website of your preferred manufacturer (Canon, Sony, Panasonic, etc.) or visit a local store to pick out one that works with your budget.
I could arbitrarily choose a camera for you to purchase, but without knowing your needs it really would be better for you to use this information to pick out one that you like. Just be careful - if you do go for AVCHD make sure the camcorder is actually AVCHD, and not a variant like AVCHD Lite or AVCCAM. Only pure DV, HDV, and AVCHD will work with FCE.

  • Casio EX-F1 Digital Still/Video Camera... Importing etc...

Not really sure if this question belongs here but trying to find some info on importing files from this camera. I have a new digital still/movie camera... Casio EX-F1 and my HD clips, especially my 1080i clips don't seem to work... Any suggestions, would be much appreciated!
This is a little info on what the camera uses, but seems like the 1080 files just come up with a blank green screen..
If recorded movies are H.264/AVC, why is the file name extension MOV?
This camera records movies in MOV in H.264/AVC.
This means that the file format is MOV and the compression method is H.264/AVC. The compression method also can be referred to as H.264/MPEG-4 AVC.

If recorded movies are H.264/AVC, why is the file name extension MOV?
MOV is the QT "generic" file container. It can hold any QT compression format, as well as, third-party proprietary compression formats like DivX or WMV 9 or playback only compression formats like MPEG-1 or MPEG-2. MP4 File containers are more specific in that they can only contain MPEG4/AAC or H.264/AAC content, open in the QT Player by default and share most of the same capabilities (such as external "artwork") as the M4V file container which open in iTunes by default and is associated with H.264/AAC content.
This camera records movies in MOV in H.264/AVC. This means that the file format is MOV and the compression method is H.264/AVC. The compression method also can be referred to as H.264/MPEG-4 AVC.
What you fail to realize or mention is the fact that it audio is not AAC here. If I remember correctly the, it uses an IMA adaptive PCM (ADPCM) compression format instead of the older DVI ADPCM associated with the M-JPEG SD video format in the AVI file container.
I have a new digital still/movie camera... Casio EX-F1 and my HD clips, especially my 1080i clips don't seem to work... Any suggestions, would be much appreciated!
For iMovie '08 to allow import, both the video and audio compression formats must be "edit" compatible. As "hinted" above adaptive PCM is not edit compatible with iMovie '08. It is, however, "conversion compatible" compatible and can, therefore, easily be made iMovie '08 compatible. This means that almost any converter (even QT converters like iMovie HD, iTunes, QT Pro, as well as, third party converters, can convert these files for use in iMovie '08. My recommendation would be to use QT Pro (if you have it) to access the "Movie to MPEG-4" export option to "Pass Through" the H.264 video content while converting only the audio component to AAC-LC (Music) at 64 or 80 Kbps/channel and re-sample to either 44.1 or 48.0 KHz.

The iPad 1 can't run the newer operating systems. It'd be like trying to play a bluray disc in your 6 year old dvd player....it simply lacks the hardware to make the software run.
No suggestion about the camera, but given that Apple's attitude seems to be to focus more on the more mobile devices for photography (the iPhone and Touch cameras got features, the iPad and mini didn't), that is highly unlikely. You can tell Apple what you want, but you'd probably be money ahead to get a digital camera.
as to the photos, anything put on via iTunes has to come off via iTunes.Your main alternative would be to look for photo apps that offer file exchange that may give you more functionality.
