Compatible Earbuds With Lenovo Y50

I have a Lenovo Y50 Touch and I've been trying to find earbuds (not headsets) that are compatible with it. I've tried iPhone earbuds along with other brands, and while the sound works fine, the mic is incredibly low. I've been told it's probably the brand of my earbuds, so I was wondering if anybody knows from experience what is a good brand of earbuds where the mic works really well? Preferably available in department stores (ie Walmart/Best Buy/etc)

When I plug in a set of earbuds, it's not shown as a new device whatsoever; Not as headset or as a microphone. I do check to see if it's the laptop microphone that's on by tapping on the location of it slightly and looking at the sound levels and then by also blowing into the location of the earbud's microphone. It's definitely the earbud's microphone being used but it's EXTREMELY low. I have to put my mouth so close to it to even get the slightest of sound.

  • Multiple screens with Lenovo Y50

Hi, My Lenovo Y50 has only 1 HDMI port for display. I would like to connect more than one monitor, so Windows will see two monitors, such that I will be able to use extend mode. This means I don't want a simple hub that splits the display, but something smarter. Is there any solution our there for this?

You can get a USB to HDMI adapter (here's one I found) if you don't mind using up  one of the USB ports on your laptop. Should allow you to do multiple displays since you'll have two cables/ports .

  • Is the iPod Touch 2nd Gen compatible with current iPhone earbuds with mic?

I have a friend that wants to talk to me on Skype with an iPod touch 2nd gen, but the earbuds don't have a microphone to talk into.
Is the iPhone earbuds with mic compatible with the Touch Gen 2? Thanks.

I found an Apple brand iPhone stereo headset (with mic) on eBay, but when I try it with my iPod Touch 2G on apps like Skype or QuickVoice, I get a message saying that there is no microphone attached. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Is there a external battery that will work with the lenovo y50? seeing that it takes 6.75A and needs 20V output in order to run it with the battery adapter. I know most external battery have 20V output but there isn't one with 6.75A please post a link of any external battery that is compatible with the lenovo y50

Here's a link to a possible portable power bank, if thats what your referring to. http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00BB5VQCE/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=42GBF7LOHUIF&coliid=ID0P1YN6JFW0C&psc=1 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BB5VQCE/ Both of those are the same product. • Lenovo Y50 Microphone Issue

I started using my Lenovo Y50 about a month ago and have been having an ongoing problem with external microphones/headsets.The issue is that when I plug in a headset, the sound defaults to the headset's speakers, but the default microphone remains the one in my laptop. I have not been using a USB or the S/PDIF plug; just the normal audio jack. So far I have tried three pairs of headphones: A TekNmotion Yapster Blaster headset, a pair of apple earbuds with the mic attached, and finally a Razer Kraken Pro headset. Based on that, I don't think it is the fault of the headsets.Additionally, my brother got the same exact laptop at the same time, and he is experiencing this issue as well.We figured out a temporary fix:Open the sound menu, go to the "Recording" tab. For us, there are three items present: "Line In" for the Razer pro headset, "Microphone," which I assume refers to the laptop's mic, and "Stereo Mix." By setting the default device to "Microphone," then unplugging and plugging the headset back in. It will now work, but only when the "Sound" window is open. As soon as the window closes it stops working. I have tried splitting the speakers and mic, plugging in just the mic by itself, but it will only work with a combined jack. I have limited knowledge of the S/PDIF input, but from my troubleshooting experience I found that it does not work with the split mic or speakers, or combined audio jack. Hi GaBI13,
You can switch on - off the wireless by pressing (airplane mode) F7 or Fn-F7. If this doesn't help you check that wireless device is present in Device Manager, is enabled and working properly (no arrows or yellow triangle present on device). If everything OK go to Control Panel-Network and Internet-Network Connections, identify the Wireless Network Connection. If this is Disabled, double click to enable it, right click and choose Connect. The driver for WiFi you can find here in case that you need.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Help Lenovo Y50-70 Win 8.1 clean install

I'm new to Lenovo, Win 8 and to this forum. I'm considering buying Lenovo Y50-70 Notebook model 59441814 - Intel Core i7 4270HQ, 8GB DDR3L, 256GB SSD, NVIDIA GTX 860M 4GB, 15.6" Touchscreen, 4K UHD, USB 3.0, no DVD drive and Win 8.1 pre-installed. I also have retail MS Win 8.1 Pro "Full Version" 64 bit DVD and key. Would like to upon receipt of latptop to: (1) replace 256GB SSD with a Crucial MX200 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 2.5" SSD, and (2) do a complete clean install using my retail 8.1. Reasons are: increased capacity and get rid of all the unnecessary stuff that Lenovo pre-installs. Since I don't have a DVD drive and I have read there are some issues with boot secure, can someone provide recommendation on sequence of steps to follow. and /or how to.

    hi Forest1,
    Welcome to the Forums.
When you receive the Y50-70, can you try these steps:
    1. Follow this video disassembly guide on how to replace the HDD with an SSD. Alternatively, you can also watch this youtube video on how to replace the drive.
    2. If you're planning to install Windows 8.1 Pro in UEFI mode, follow this guide on how to convert the DVD installer into a USB installer. When finished, boot into the BIOS and set the following settings then hit F10 to save and exit.
        - Link to picture
    Secure Boot = Disabled
    USB Boot = Enabled
OS Optimized Defaults = Other OS
When finished, boot from the USB flashdrive that you created (by tapping F12 and selecting the flashdrive on the boot manager) and you should be able to install Windows 8.1 Pro on the SSD.

  • ANOTHER Lenovo Y50 case defect issue and terrible customer service

I don't normally do forums but have been so infuriated by Lenovo customer service I felt obliged to sign up and share my experience.
I bought a Lenovo Y50-70 in November 2014. Within one month I noticed a small plastic part near the hinge was missing (i.e. I noticed the other side was intact and how it should look). I sent this to Lenovo for repair and received a call 5 mins ago to say this won't be repaired under warranty and that I will have to pay for it. This is absolutely outrageous and from the number of posts on this very forum it appears this is a common defect with this particular case. I asked the customer service rep if there was anything he could do and all i received was a very short blunt manuscript response, exhibiting no intention to help. I am not prepared to pay for shoddy design/workmanship and so my only option offered was to receive the laptop back unrepaired.
This is absolutely incredible that a company as big as Lenovo can treat their customers in such a fashion. Unless an administrator on this forum wishes to investigate this matter (as it's currently still with Lenovo repair centre) I certainly won't make the mistake of buying or recommending a Lenovo again.

So Lenovo/Medio have had my laptop for 20 days now. 2 weeks ago I was told they wouldn't repair it under warranty and would return it unrepaired. Still nothing. I called customer service yday who promised to investigate and get in touch. Nothing. I called again today, same response i.e. would investigate. It seems there is a huge communication problem between Lenovo and their Medion repair centre.
I am now looking into a legal resolution as surely under the sale of goods act it is illegal to retain an item for so long despite no repair actually taking place. You would also think Lenovo would have the decency to offer to repair the small damage (which I was quoted £80 for) as compensation for delay. But alas no, what Lenovo know about customer service is less than 0.
The fact a representative hasn't even bothered to respond on here is testimony to their lack of care and respect for customers.
    Yours truly

Can photoshop elements 6 & premiere 4 be upgraded for use on a windows 8 Lenovo Y50-70 touch? The upgrade option on the Adobe site doesn't list my software version?

    Hi Rosera,
This is bad and I am sorry to hear that you are running into these issues.
Let me connect with you, so right now, the current state is that you have installed copy of PSE 8 in trial on your windows 7 machine, and when you are trying to enter the serial number from your PSE 8 Box, it is saying the serial number to be invalid?
It might sound pretty obvious, but please make sure that you are entering the serial number correctly and of PSE 8(in case you bought a PEPE box)?
Have you tried the steps mentioned below by Barbara?
If possible, you can send me the serial number through PRIVATE MESSAGE and I can check it on my end that whether the serial number is indeed invalid or that the issue is with your machine?
    Regards,

  • Problem with lenovo service

Hi,I bought lenovo y50 2 month ago, and there was a problem in the laptop screen, i sent my laptop to the lenovo lab to check it and the detect that there is a hardware problem, they give me DOA and i changed it to a new one with the same problem and again i sent it to the lab and there detect the problem and gave me a new DOA and i get new one with the same problem.i chose to keep it becouse it's hard to learn and study without laptop ( when they take the laptop they return it in 10 days and i have projects to do in the technion).after a month i detect a new problem in the battery and i've talked to them again and they said that they need to take the laptop to check it and give me a new battery.i'm a student in the electral engineering faculty and it's impossible to study while the lab takes my laptop every month to ten days.right now i'm waiting so they can check my laptop and send it to me ( i sent my pc to lab a week ago ).is that normal ?

    Shams66,
Thanks for your feedback and working with Serene and sending along pictures of the back of your unit.  We've checked with our engineering contacts and the advise that these 4 screw locations are for an optional VESA mounting arm to mount and suspend the system over your desk.  They are not screw locations required for proper closure of the system.
We do not believe the screws were pre-populated.
The leg / support on the system is help with a release latch, and this is a design improvement introduced on newer B540 models - earlier models used perimeter screws to attach the leg.
Do all other keys on your keyboard work properly?   If the problem is isolated to a single key, I would encourage you to contact support again and let them review - they determine that you need a replacement keyboard.   It is also potentially a software issue.
Please let us know how this is progressing.
    Best regards,
    Mark

  • [Solved] Lenovo y50 clickpad gestures

    Greetings all,
I recently bought a lenovo y50 and went through hell trying to get arch to work on this. Well, after I have everything running nicely, I noticed that the touchpad/clickpad will not respond to multitouch (e.g. no two-finger scroll). I have tried all the drivers on the touchpad and synaptics archwiki pages as well as the settings in both cinnamon and gnome. Nothing seems to change the behavior. Does anyone have any ideas? My hardware shows as Elantech hardware.
    SOLUTION:
Find comment #137 from HERE and follow the instructions
This fixed worked for me! Everything works perfect!

Do any of you have the touchscreen variant? I ordered the touchscreen one and it should arrive in the first week of August.
I have the touchscreen variant. It works pretty well, but doesn't detect multitouch. When pressing on the screen it registers as a mouse click+mouse movement, which is how windows 8.1 works.
Well, detecting one touch is better than it not working at all.
Mine got delayed twice, now it's scheduled to ship on August 15 and arrive on the 22nd (2 days after I start school, which is what I bought it for...) (I ordered on June 29). I'm pretty sure Lenovo will delay it again
Dang. Well hopefully it doesn't get caught it customs like mine did (assuming you are in USA). Customs held mine for two weeks! it took a month and a half after I placed the order to get it. Good luck! And by the way, I edited the OP with the solution.

  • Lenovo Y50 creating loud noise

hello there!, seems i have problem with my lenovo y50, its creating wierd noise i dont know where is it coming from. here you can hear it from this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJ5BCoSSOGE  i already have the lastest version of bios so anyone have any idea where's this noise coming from or what is the problem? thanks!

Basically there is only two moving parts in your computer.  The hard drive or the cooling fan.  With either device that noise is not normal and would indicate to me that the device is falling.  I would recommend you contact Lenovo Support for assistance in correcting the problem.

If Lenovo or MIcrosoft can provide an update to the driver it may work. This might be ongoing with Microsoft or Lenovo. Why not install the optional windows update KB3035583 so that you will see if your unit will qualify later if the taskbar icon will show up (if you hover over it, it will show "Get Windows 10").

  • Lenovo Y50 still have the hinge breaking problem?

Do anyone know if the Lenovo Y50 is still having the screen display hinge breaking or exploding from the base problem?

My Laptop has just started falling apart about a month after my warranty ended (of course) here is my list of problems that have been happening since my warrenty ended. 1. The part that the screw actually screws into the part that holds the hinge to the laptop has broken off so my screen is being held on by 1 screw very scary as it could fall of any minute. 2. The plastic piece that covers the hinge will pop off everytime I open my laptop and makes a horrible cracking sound when I have to keep opening my laptop to snap back the plastic piece so that I can use my laptop. I am now using scotch tape to fix this for now very embarrasing when gaming with my friends. 3. I have been slowly losing screws on the bottom of my laptop to hold the whole thing togeather I am now down to 8 out of the 12 that are supposed to be there. A screw just recently fell off and it happend to be the last screw that was holding my screen to the laptop so I had to swap some screws around so that my screen was being held on by something. I was looking for a quality gaming laptop I could take to college and I will be heading off to college in a month!  I would not sugguest this laptop and will probably never purchase a lenovo product again as this seems to be a somewhat common problem.
