Compatible Font Types for Leopard 10.5.4

I recently purchased a font from fonts.com that I need for a project. I purchased the Macintosh compatible version. It came with both a PostScript Type 1 Outline Font type file and a FontSuitcase type file.
No matter what font folder in my user library or HD library i put these in they will not show up in any applications. I have tried everything I can think of. Any help?

Ok, problem solved.
Click on System Preferences, .Mac and then click through the 4 tabs. After a bit of time, an alert will pop up suggesting you download the MobileMe updater. Run it, and you're done.

  • Changing preferred font types for each language separately in Safari

    Hi, I'm wondering in Safari->Preference->Appearance, you can change the default fonts for your main language, which is most likely English.
    However, if I want to change font types for each specific language, e.g. Japanese or Traditional Chinese, how could I do that? I assume that if I change in the Appearance menu, it's global to all languages (e.g. English)?
    Just to illustrate my question, in Firefox, I can go to Firefox->Preference->Content-> Fonts&Colors->Advanced, then I can change the font types for each language separately.
    How do I do similar things in Safari in Leopard? Thanks.

    But it seems very weird that for all the beautiful font types in Mac OS, the users are only stuck with the default font type only?
    Perhaps, but it's just an example of how different browsers and apps offer different features. You should use the browser that works best for you. While FireFox may be good for that feature, it can't display some languages, like Hindi, correctly at all.
    It is possible to change the font using a custom style sheet, which you can select via the advanced item in Safari preferences, but I don't think there is any way to do this on the basis of language.
    What language are you specifically interested in changing the default font for? If you are getting the wrong kind of font for CJK (for example, seeing Japanese character types instead of the Chinese ones in Chinese text), this might be fixable by changing the language order in system prefs/international/languages.

  • How to Change the Font Type for Printing Pocket Address Book?

    I am new to the Mac and was entering in my contact info into the Address Book in hope of creating a Pocket Address Book (PAB). When I attempt to print out the PAB the default font is courier. When I click on "set" and access other font types, sizes, etc., I can't seem to find a way to apply or save the font type that I choose. In short, it stays as courier. I found an archived thread in a forum that suggests to validate the font I want - which I did and it was already validated - and otherwise I cannot seem to change it from courier. Any help on how to get the font I select to be applied instead of courier would be GREATLY appreciated!

    You can also change it using the UIManager:
    UIManager.put("OptionPane.foreground", Color.red);
    UIManager.put("OptionPane.messageForeground", Color.red);
    For a complete list of all properties you can change for each component check out this program:

  • Font types for the new OS

    I am a long time Mac user, but I just recently have "upgraded" to the newest OS with my purchase of a MacBook....and my frustration level just continues to rise! this simple question is only the beginning:
    Is there a list somewhere of the font types supported by OS X? I have discovered through searching this discussion that it now supports TTF, but what about the Mac fonts I have loaded on my older computers and the Mac Fonts I download from the internet? It tells me those file types are not accepted. Should I just download PC fonts now? What the heck have they done to the usability of the Mac?

    It's not a matter of it being down so much as it being a rabbit hole that I couldn't seem to find.I had been searching the data base hoping to find the answer, as the help pages suggest, and had just backtracked from a font-related thread and posted at the first "Post New Topic" link I found.
    I think I found another place to post the question--we'll wait and see if I'm wrong there as well!!

  • Font Type for Search Terms, Other Items Suddenly Changed in Safari

    Certain text items in Safari 3.0.4 - those that are normally bolded, such as search terms in hyperlinks or the 'Inbox' in Yahoo Mail (when there is unopened mail) - appear to be bolded not in Arial but in ArialBlack, which makes them appear extremely bolded. I did not change any settings under in Safari, such as Preferences>Appearance; it just started happening. Is there a setting on my end (Safari) or a keystroke combination (that I might have hit) that might have affected this particular font setting in Safari?

    Quit Safari and move the 'com.apple.Safari.plist' file to your desktop.
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ 'com.apple.Safari.plist'
    Launch Safari and reset it's Preferences.
    If that doesn't help, check out this url.

  • How to change Font Type of the Title Text of a JFrame?

    Hi,
    I want to set a different Font Type for the Title text of the titlebar of my JFrame.
    Is it possible? Can anyone show me how if it is?
    Thanks.
    Niteen

    Michael,
    Thanks. It works!
    But there was a problem. I was not using the :-
    JFrame.setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated(true);
    so I have to use it now.
    Is it possible to do it without the default decorated look and feel? Because the default LNF title bar has too much height and I am cramped for space.
    I know that's no excuse. I tried but it doesn't work.. I am using a extended JFrame like this:-
    class Testing extends JFrame
    public Testing()
    setSize(300,100);
    setLocation(400,200);
    Container container = getContentPane();
    /* add components to this container here */
    setVisible(true);
    When I use getComponent() for the container, I get an ArrayIndexOutOfBound Exception.
    When I set the argument to getComponent(0), the font in the title bar is not changed.
    What else should I do?
    Thanks.
    Niteen.

  • StarOffice 8 - finding all different font types in a Writer file

    Hello,
    I am currently using StarOffice 8 on a Windows XP system.
    I frequently transfer a large Writer (.odt) file between different computer systems as I constantly update the file with new information. As part of the updates, I use different fonts. As I install a particular font on one machine, this font may not be installed on another machine when I add new information to the file on that particular machine.
    When I open the Writer file on a machine that has some font not installed, the WYSIWYG appears incorrectly (since the proper font is not installed on that computer, of course) but if you highlight the incorrectly-displayed info, it says what the font type should be (ie, "WP Hebrew David" font). I then go online to download that specific font type for this the computer. Then the data is displayed correctly.
    When you have many, many different font types used in a file, it is hard to keep track of all different fonts used. Before anyone questions me on using so many different fonts in a file, it is important for my file to visually display the correct data, and this means using a quantity of fonts.
    What I am wondering is the following:
    Is there a way from within StarOffice 8 to scan a particular file and then let the user know every different font name used in that file?
    That way, if the file contains a font which was used on another machine but not currently installed on the current machine -- when I am updating information in the file -- I can then see a list of fonts used and then install new fonts accordingly after checking to see if they are installed (by checking the Fonts folder in C:/Windows)
    I hope this makes sense, or is it "clear as mud"?
    Please excuse my bad English grammar as I am not a native English speaker, but have picked it up living in Canada for the last 20 years :-)
    Cheers & thanks in advance for any help !

    There is a Fonts Used macro writer_printAllFonts.sxw Further checking this is the wrong StarBasic macro. The one I use came from an OOo forum I think. I use it with SO7, SO8 and SO9.
    It is at the end of this message. To install it:

  • Font type

    what is the best font type for Mac... open type, true type, etc. ?

    firebride,
    The original designer went missing, and we dont have info on this logo. We need to re design but need the font type?
    A few questions about what you actually have and wish:
    How exactly do you need to redesign?
    Which file format is the logo (sample) you have, and is it vector or raster (vector like native objects/paths in Illustrator, raster like coloured pixels such as much of the artwork in Photoshop and the contents export formats such as PNG, GIF, and JPEG)?

  • Quiz fonts type change back to default font type

    I changed the font type for the answers to the quiz questions and for some reason the first two of almost ever multiple choice question that I have in 15 separate modules changed back to Myraid Pro from Arial.
    I have changed it back to Arial, however, I wonder if I should have changed it all back to Myraid Pro.

    Hey Gollum,
    I found what seems to be causing your issue. There is a bug in LabVIEW 2010 and later that causes custom font tokens to be overwritten when any other change occurs in the LabVIEW.ini file. The Corrective Action Request (CAR) ID Number is 256978. The issue was fixed in LabVIEW 2013 (http://www.ni.com/white-paper/14541/en/).

  • Essential fonts for Leopard ?

    I trashed a lot of fonts because I was having problems, mainly with Helvetica Neue
    (who doesn't!). But I was a bit too eager and now certain dialogue boxes from the
    OS don't look right.
    I would like to know which fonts do I absolutely have to keep.
    The strict minimum. Like for example, are all those asian fonts necessary
    to the system.. if your system is in English and don't use-write in Asian languages?
    I find there are quite a bit.
    Is there a list somewhere I could get of essential fonts for Leopard. I would
    like to trash anything that is useless.
    Again, I do not use Asian fonts, my applications and operating system are in English,
    I only type in English, French, sometimes Spanish and German.
    Thanks

  • Font Outlines For Distorted Type?

    before sending my file to the printer, i would like to outline the document's text to avoid font substitution if the printer doesn't have the font available.
    to outline all of my text, i first Select > All on Active Artboard and then choose Type > Create Outlines.  however, there are many areas of text in my document that contain an arc envelope distortion.  these arced text fields were not outlined and i can still reach their editable text field by going down a few layers.
    should i also outline the arced type for these fonts incase the printer doesn't have the font available, or was creating an arc distortion the same thing as outlining the text?
    the reason i'm asking is because it will take me a very long time to individually process each one of these arced text fields if they, too, should be outlined.

    I haven't tried to replicate your issue on my computer but if what your saying is true you should have probably converted to outlines "before" applying the envelope distortion.  I am not sure if you can save the distortion settings as a preset but if you can then it would be a matter of saving the presets for each arc instance, removing the current instance, outlining the text, and then reapplying it.  I know it will take some time but when sending something to the printer you definitely don't want to take chances.
    The other option is setting up your preflight options in Acrobat properly so that when you save the Illustrator PDF you will embed all of the fonts and you don't have to worry about outlining the fonts.

    We still have an older MacBook that we bought in 2007, it works great except for the CD/DVD drive. I need to be able to burn DVD's, could anyone recommend an External DVD Burner that would be compatible with 10.5 Leopard?
