Compatible multifunction printer

Switched to Mac (after 25 years on PC) this week. Overall very content.
I have 2 multifunction devices 1) Lexmark x9300 2) Samsung CLX-3160FN. I have been unable to set either one up through the time Capsule with complete functionality.
Are there any multifunction devices that can be wirelessly attached through time capsule with complete functionality??
Thanks

Update:
1. After 2 hours with Lexmark assistance (model X9350) was able to get the printer to work wirelessly but scanning no go. It is now connected directly to the iMac and seems to work well.
2. 2 minutes with Samsung (CLX-3160FN) i was informed that there are major issues with software/driver and I should not even try to put it on the iMac at this time.
3. Does anyone have a colour multifunction (preferably laser) that is fully functional with TC and Mac OS 10.5.3
Thanks

  • 10.4.11, 10.5 and XP Home compatible multifunction printer with 4+ inks

I'm looking for an inkjet multifunction printer (normally I don't go for these, but due to the constrained space of the friend I'm making an exception) with 4 or more separate color ink cartridges with 10.4.11, 10.5, and XP Home compatible scanning and printing. It is a Dell 3000 2.8 Ghz Pentium 4.
Can anyone recommend one that works with all three operating systems via USB?

Can anyone recommend one that works with all three operating systems via USB
I've had trouble with Mac-only USB printer sharing and HP printers, but Epson devices seems to work fine with USB sharing. However, when we recently found ourselves in your position, we opted for the HP 6280 that has ethernet connectivity. It has five or six cartridges and the price of indiv cartridges is not bad. The 6280 does not fax.
Do you have a router with USB? Our new AEBS has a USB port that lets a printer be shared by any computer served by the AEBS, including Windoze machines. Maybe upgrading the router could present you with more choices of MF devices.

  • Best, most compatible multifunction printer/copiers for medium-sized office?

    Hello world!
I have recently been tasked with selecting a NEW multifunction copier for our office!  Our office consists of 30 to 40 users, mostly writers and graphic-designers, all running 10.6.8 or Lion 10.7.2.
    We're interested in a B&W machine that...
    can print at least 50ppm
can handle large file sizes with ease (for graphic designers printing InDesign files etc...)
is first and foremost, VERY mac-friendly/compatible
can scan multiple docs quickly, to an email or device, perhaps even scan in color
Currently, our office uses a Canon iR5570, Canon iR5020, and Xerox Phaser 7750DN.  Support and proper software/drivers for the Canon printers is a nightmare.  Despite trying every print method/driver/software/protocal combination possible and updating the firware, the Canon printers lock-up when multiple print-jobs or when large graphics files are sent to print.  It's a very nerve-racking experience, especially when you're the tech that must address the issues .
If anyone has any suggestions or experience with a specific nice, newer printer, I would greatly appreciate them.  I'm leaning toward Xerox at the moment.
    Thanks in advance,
    John

I agree with you for a Xerox MFP
This series has the features you requested.

But you would better call your local Xerox representative to tailor the right printer for your needs.

  • Any OS X Compatible Multifunction Print Servers?

    Hi all,
I hope this is the correct place to post this, but after an extensive search with little results I had hoped somebody from these forums would be knowledgable enough to answer my question. I'd purchased an Epson RX595 multifunction printer before incorporating Apple products into my network, so when I'd purchased my MBP and Time Capsule for backup, I had no idea that the print server on the Apple Base Stations (and most wireless routers with print servers) only support printing and not the advanced features such as scanning. Now I've seen a few USB multifunction print servers online, but going through the spec sheets and reviews, hardly any of them seem to work with OS X. Does anybody know of such a server that works with OS X? I'd really rather not have to buy a new ethernet printer if I can avoid it. Thanks in advance for all the help.

  • HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf Multifunction Printer Drivers

I have HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf Multifunction Printer And i lost the driver cd. Now i want to connect my printer to different pc which has windows 2002. What can i do? I didnt find any driver for this computer in hp drivers pages. Please help me...

    Hello Burcu,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're looking for a Laserjet M1212nf driver compatible for a Windows 2002 operating system. I will do my best to assist you! I will provide the HP website where all the full features drivers are available here. If your operating system isn't listed, then there are no drivers available.
The only suggestion I can provide is connecting a USB cable to this printer and your computer. Windows will detect the hardware and try to install a driver. If you have any further questions, please let me know. Have a great night!

  • Need a USB hub to work with a multifunction printer

Can anyone recommend a reliable USB hub that can work with the HP Officejet J4580 Multifunction (fax) Printer? I bought a Belkin 7-port hub for my G4 FW800 laptop (OS 10.3.9) and it works with an older dedicated printer and a 2-year-old multifunction printer (no fax), but I just got a new Belkin 7-port to go with the same laptop and it won't work with the new multifunction, so I'll have to return it.
Any suggestions for a 2+ port hub that's reliable and would work with this new printer? AC- or laptop powered doesn't matter, though I'd prefer to have the AC option. Amazon's web page on this says it will work with all 1.0 and 2.0 USB devices, but obviously that's wrong, and I like not to make the same mistake twice. Thanks!

I'd have to agree with motsteve too.
Stay away from unpowered hubs, they are nothing but trouble or should I be more diplomatic and say that they do work for some devices but not all and some unexplained behaviour has been known to happen with them.
The same can be said of bus-powered hard drives.
Are you sure it is not a driver problem ?
Are you sure this MFP is compatible with the OS you are using ? Have you checked the system requirements first ?
I think the USB hub you have is probably fine.
If it is USB2.0 compliant and is mains powered then there is something else at work here.
    1) Check the cables - try another if you have one.
    2) Unplug the printer , turn the computer and hub off.
    3) Reconnect everything and then turn on first the printer , then the hub , lastly the computer.
    4) If 3) fails ,do the same again but in a different order.
I have had problems with peripherals not showing on the desktop or getting a " Can't connect to device XXXX " so I have turned everything off, unplugged them all, then reconnected and turned everything back on.
Once that peripheral is mounted once I generally find that I don't have a problem with it again.
I think it may lie in the order that the OS extensions load or something along those lines.

  • Mac compatible multifunction printers

What's the best Macbook Pro-compatible multifunction laser b/w printer for a single user office? Some reviews of Canon printers mention lack of Mac drivers.

Not specifically mentioning Mac drivers is probably not a concern since OS X supports nearly all printers, but I prefer manufacturers that visibly support OS X. I like Brother printers and multifunction devices these days. Their support is top notch.
Read this press release for a description of Brother models that support AirPrint - which is a nice (though not necessary) feature I'd recommend:
    http://www.brother-usa.com/PressReleases/AirPrint_MonoLaser_PressRelease_FINAL.p df
Canon and Epson are OK too, HP is a distant last.

  • What is the best multifunction printer for Mac?

I'm currently trying to choose a great multifunction printer for our small office and I need advice on what brands are "fully" compatible with Mac OSX 10.4 and higher. I would like to know what your experiences are with certain brands and models.
In my particular situation I have a list of requirements in order of importance:
    1. fully compatible with the Mac OSX 10.4 (and higher) operating system.
    2. affordable (that's very subjective but for me that would mean something below US$600)
    3. monochromatic laser printing
    4. network printing: LAN or wifi (wifi preferable? are there disadvantages?)
    5. duplex printing
    6. duplex copying
    7. +/- 30 ppm or cpm
    8. scan to ftp or to hard disk (without the need for additional software preferable)
    9. network scanning
    10. toner and drum in one
    11. faxing
Please also state what you found great with your machine.
Looking forward to reading your opinions.

I don't have a home office - nor do I have any experience in printers the way some reviewers do. When it comes to printing, all I care is that it actually prints and doesn't jam.
Printers are so inexpensive these days and my old printer was a great Cannon that did it's job - cost about 80 bucks when I purchased. Then I bought an iPad and tried ALL the free printing apps - and even paid for an app that swore it would work with any printer. NOPE.
So, when this printer came up to test - I jumped on it! WOW. Not only is it so easy to set up, even I can do it (didn't even need the disk). It prints anywhere from my iPad and my iPhone. I also love the double sided printing and never realized how much double siding printing I actually do. It's great for long recipes. The photo aspect of it is sharp and clear. I LOVE The scanner and though I rarely use a fax - it's nice to know it's available so I don't have to drive to my local media store. For the price - it's amazing.
It's also super fast compared to my Cannon and super quiet.
I've started recommending this to my friends - even though they may not do much printing - it's amazing how much you'll start printing once you have this super hero. Kind of like my Kindle - I read way more books now than I did when reading hard/paper backs!!!.

  • Recommend a cheap multifunction printer to use with macbook & eMac

    Hi,
I'm looking to buy a new multifunction printer, preferably under $100.
Can anyone recommend one that's compatible with mac and that works well?
    Thanks

    Hey ina_J
I bought an Epson TX 100 from officeworks:
    http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Printers-and-Multifunct ions/Inkjet-Multifunctions/Multifunction-Excluding-Fax/EPTX100
It's under 100 AUD, and appears there is also a $15 cashback offer at the moment (I'm not sure if the listed price includes this, I assume not it's hard for me to recall the price I paid for it.
It works well with OS X 10.5 and 10.4 for scanning+printing, and Windows if need be (use included CDs with drivers).
Ink is quite cheap, something like $15 for the full-size Black, and since each colour is separate you can also save a bit of money - though I have noticed it isn't too economical so even though the cartridges are relatively inexpensive it might be the same as other vendors once you consider the frequency you have to replace them.
Drawbacks: If an ink cartridge is apparently empty, you *cannot print* at all, this includes if Colour ink is out too. Also, related to this you can't refill the cartridges yourself as the printer will not recognise them as full.
Officeworks seem to have a number of other cheap multi-function printers, just check OS X compatibility in the system requirements for 10.5 (Leopard) on the system requirements.
Hope this helps! Good luck with your purchase!

  • HP Color LaserJet Enterprise flow My Multifunction Printer series

I have a new HP Color LaserJet Enterprise flow M880 Multifunction, the delivery paper after the fuser, it is no making the right job and I got a jamming code, I replaced the fuser but still making the same issue.

    Hey @Germanimagenet ,
I suspect your question would be better answered in the HP Enterprise Business Community, as your HP Printer is a commercial model.
My technical expertise is with consumer products and software, I am sure the commercial folks would be happy to help if you re-post your question for them to answer. The HP Enterprise Business Community is an HP Forum designed for the Commercial and Enterprise customers to help one another. I am sure you will find some HP folks there to help too.
Click here to view the Printing and Digital Imaging. When the page opens you will see the option to 'Log in' or 'Register Now' on the right. The commercial forums are separate from the consumer boards, thus you will need to register if you don't already have a commercial account.
You may find the HP Color LaserJet Enterprise flow M880 Multifunction Printer series page helpful while you wait for somebody in the commercial Forum to respond to your inquiry.
    Best of luck.

  • Can't scan from Lexmark multifunction printer - firewall issue?

    Hi there!
I got a Lexmark printer/scanner combo which used to work fine on my arch install. However, its mobo died, so now I'm back at another install which refuses to scan. Scanning is done through the browser via a java applet residing on the printer's webserver. The applet does start (so it's not a java issue), but refuses to receive data from the scanner. Within the printer's web interface, it reads
If using Windows XP, the Windows XP personal firewall must be disabled before using Scan to PC profiles.
, so I'm assuming it might be a firewall issue. Lexmark's website provides the following advice:
The following two command lines will open the port 5353 for incoming and outgoing connections:
    iptables -I INPUT -p udp -m udp --sport 5353 -j ACCEPT
    iptables -I OUTPUT -p udp -m udp --dport 5353 -j ACCEPT
NOTE: These steps will work on most distributions configured with IPTABLES. There is no common command to make these rules persistent.
As I don't know anything about IP tables, I've simply copied these commands (as root, obviously). Still, I can't scan.
    So, my questions are:
    1. Has anybody else ever come across an issue like this?
    2. I don't even know for sure, whether this is a firewall issue - What iptabled magic would I need to temporarily disable the firewall to check?
    3. I tried checking my rules by "iptables -L". How can I tell "iptables -L" to specify the ports it is working on (as I did in the commands copied from lexmark's website)?
    Best wishes,
    Rufus

    Hi Bob
I believe so.  We put the install disc into this mac back when we bought it to set up the printer.  I'm assuming the scanning drivers were there as well since it's a multifunctional printer/scanner/fax wireless printer.
We've tried it both ways.  If I press the button scan on the printer, it reads can't find computer (or something like that).  When we go thru the HP icon on my computer screen and choose scan to computer, it does nothing.
We don't scan that often.  So the few times when we ran into this problem, we just did something else (like take a pic from our iPhone and email the pic...kinda stupid but did the trick.
But I want to have the function of the scanner available.  So that's why I'm here asking...thought others had this issue and had a solution.

  • HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fn Color Multifunction Printer unable to connect to webapps, webforms

    Hello,
I'm able to print to my printer - HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color Multifunction Printer - over my local network and the printer is connected to the router via wireless connection.  No connectivity issues as far as the local network goes..
The problem I'm having is that for the past week (perhaps longer but I only noticed it a week ago) I'm unable to download the web forms or web apps from the printer's screen menu.  I keep getting the message: Unable to connect to the network, please check your network connection etc etc etc.
I successfully printed to my hpeprint email address, so at least the printer is connected to the eprint network, but still can't access/download any of the web forms or web apps.
Has anyone experiencd this?  I'm really stuck, can't figure out what the issue could be seeing as how the printer seems to be working over the local network and am able to print documents that I send to me hp e-print email address.  Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated.  thanks in advance... Robert

You're lucky to have SOME ePrint functionality left! I got a new m177fw from HP and the printer simply won't enable ePrint. I get a constant connecting screen or connection error screen. There aren't any problems with my network and I spoke with a HP customer service representative over the phone and it seems they are clueless that ePrint is currently broken on HP's end.

HP laserjet M1319f multifunction printer---------Where do I find the right drivers for this printer, for some reason my computer keeps kicking it out and i have to keep re installing it. it is not recognized when i plug it in.
    windows 8-64 bit?

    Hi @LR2014 ,
I see that you are having issues with the drivers and you would like the proper ones installed. I would like to help.
The only drivers available from HP are the Hostbased Plug and Play Drivers. Did you download and install those drivers or are you using the Windows preinstalled drivers? HP LaserJet Hostbased Print/Scan Plug and Play Drivers.
If you are using the downloaded drivers, check the Devices and Printers window to see if the printer name is listed correctly and not showing the Windows Classic Driver.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
