Quite likely you are observing the consequence of a lame GPU. First check how well other folks are doing with the (definitely not ideal) 6800 graphics card. There are dozens of threads, hundreds of posts in this forum about lame G5 performance with stock graphics cards in G5s.
Another consideration could be bad installation, system operation, etc. This is exactly what happens when one fails to religiously Repair Permissions immediately before and after every installation. And/or fails to let the box run 24/7 (or run Cocktail weekly), properly install the latest OS/app upgrades, etc.
Heavy graphics apps are a challenge to any box. Inconsistency with any of the above mentioned operational protocols can cause the described anomalous behavior.
In Photoshop we see exactly that kind of lame performance on a limited number of boxes of all types. When anomalies are not happening on all boxes the issue is invariably a function of the individual setup/operation.

  • After upgrade to Windows 10, the Vaio Laptop seems to say that the Battery is not compatible or not connected

I updated the Vaio Laptop from WIndows 7 to WIndows 10.  Everything seems to work fine, but it is coming up with a pop-up errror message "Battery is not compatible or not connected, Click OK to hibernate and reinsert the battery".   Obviously this is tied to the upgrade. How do I get this error message to disappear ?

    Hi DebiPGupta,
    Welcome to Sony Community!
Disabling the ISB Utility from the System Configuration is part of the resolution for Widows 8 and 8.1 regarding battery issue. I'm happy that it worked on your Windows 10 machine. Sony will release the drivers and software for Windows 10 soon. Please check this page for further information: http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/os10upgrade.pl

  • GTX 750 Ti in Illsutrator - GPU Performance feature - Compatible GPU not found

    Hi,
I recently bought a GeForce GTX 750 Ti and was really happy that I could turn on the new "GPU performance" - it really made a difference.
Today I had to reinstall Illustrator (the OS was slow) and now I can't turn on the "GPU performance" feature. It says that "Compatible GPU not found. GPU Performance is disabled"  and "Device: Multiple Graphics Cards detected"
I'm using the latest GeForce driver. I know that the GTX 750 Ti is officially not supported (Seriously!? -  this is also really annoying since older, less powerful cards are on the supported list).
I don't want to buy an other card, but if there is no other option...
    Any suggestions?

I have just completed running the entire PPBM8 script with the GTX 750 Ti, and compared it to the results that I had obtained over two weeks ago with the older GTX 560 card.
GTX 750 Ti on CC 2014.8.2 (1TB Samsung F3 as project disk):
GTX 560 on CC 2014.8.1 (1TB Western Digital Black WD1002FAEX as project drive):
It appears that the first-generation Maxwell (GM107) GPU somehow improved the H.264 rendering/encoding performance compared to the older Fermi (GF114) GPU. The MPEG-2 rendering/encoding performance is practically equal with both of these particular GPUs.
Verdict? The GTX 750 Ti is the right choice for a PC that's equipped (however less than ideally) with a higher-end i5 without hyperthreading or a quad-core i7 that cannot be overclocked much if at all (and this is assuming that that PC has a sufficiently fast disk subsystem).
By the way, the GT 740 that was suggested for the OP's system (given the "Green" drives) is not a Maxwell-generation GPU at all - but a Kepler-generation GPU (in this case, based on the GK107) instead. The GT 730 with GDDR5 memory that I recommended as an alternative to the GT 740 DDR3 is based on the GK208 GPU. (And I do not recommend most GT 730s on the market as they are based on an old Fermi-generation GPU - the GF108 that debuted with the GT 430 back in 2010.)

  • JVC GR-DVL9000 camera compatible or not? Surely SOMEONE knows!!

I'm getting desperate here! Is there anyone on the planet who can answer what I thought would be a simple question?
I have just acquired a used JVC GR-DVL 9000 Mini DV camera. Will it work with an Apple Mac via its firewire port?
I'm running Imovie 4 through OS 10.4 on a G5. Tons of hard drive space is available, but it just won't import or playback pre-recorded video.
I checked out the compatibility chart here on the Apple site and it doesn't list this camera, but as I never take no for an answer, I contacted JVC's very unhelpful customer services for a definitive answer (ha ha!) and they told me all their miniDV cameras are compatible on Macs, despite what Apple says and that includes this one.
As a result, I have attacked the problem with renewed vigour and found the camera will playback on the Imovie screen and import, but only while actually recording in real time.
I can also operate the camera's playback controls from Imovie. However, crucially, I cannot get any image to appear on the Imovie screen, just the information on a blue background of the camera's status (connected, playing, etc.).
So am I wasting my time trying to get an incompatible camera to work with my Mac/Imovie, or should I press on having missed something obvious?
    Does ANYONE know the answer?

    Hi Joe:
Does ANYONE know the answer? hmmmm
    I quote QuickTimeKirk:
”Open the Audio MIDI Setup application (Utilities folder).
Try changing the settings to 44100Hz (CD Quality) or to 48000Hz (typical of the iMovie formats).
Others call this the GarageBand fix. Opening GB also resets the Audio MIDI Setup.”
If that is too hard to understand:
    *Open GarageBand
    *Play a few notes
    *Close Garageband
    *Open imovie
    *Camera should be recognized now.
    I'm not kidding here, Joe.

  • Logic Pro 9 and Mountain Lion, compatible or not?

I'm confused: RoaringApps says LP is not compatible with ML.
    Apple suggests it is.
    I have 9.1.7.
    Anyone know for usre, please?
    Thanks!

I don't have VSL running here so can't say for certain. But it should work fine - all of my instruments and plugins are working without issue (including NI Komplete, Wallander, Virus TI, Omnisphere, and even EW Play, which has been known to stop working just by looking at it funny).
As always, make sure you have a way back before upgrading - maybe via Time Machine or a recent clone of your system drive.

  • Adobe Photoshop Express is not compatible with Note 4

    Hi,
I am unable to install Adobe Photoshop Express on Note 4. I am unable to install the app from play store onto my Note 4. I get a message saying the device isn't compatible with this version. Its an issue that's persisting since October and has not been fixed yet. Could someone please work on the fix for Note 4 and kindly release an updated version. I had been using the app frequently and had bought the noise reduction and premium look filters as well. Please fix this issue ASAP.

This has been fixed in latest release of PS Express.

  • Last compatible version not functioning on iPhone 3G 4.2.1

Hi there! I have an old iPhone 3G that I'm using for a little bit, and when I try to download Gmail (among other apps) it says that I need, at the least, iOS 6. Which is difficult since the 3G only went up to 4.2.1. I understand from google searching that there's supposed to be a feature where the phone offers the "last compatible version" so that users of older devices are able to still download the apps. However, this option is not appearing for me. I've tried installing both from the device and from my computer with no dice.
    What can I do?
    Thanks very much!

Which app versions are available in the App Store is entirely up to the app developer.  Many do not support or make available versions compatible with old hardware or iOS.  Contact the app developer.

  • Compatible provider not found

Trying to migrate from EF5 to EF6.  First I deleted the tt files and added back the code generation files, build successful, Yay!  Run app, keep getting mapping errors.  No worries I thought, I'll just update the model from the database.  Update model from the database would only remove every table, refresh and add nothing so I deleted and tried to recreate my entity.  Every time I try to add an entity I get:
So I tried a brand new project same result.
I removed and re installed the latest ODP.net and visual studio tools from the oracle website - didn't work.
I removed and reinstalled and checked install at machine level - didn't work.
I replaced the nuget packages with local assemblies - didn't work
I removed and recreated all my server connections in visual studio - didn't work
I tried server connections in visual studio using the unmanaged driver but it claims the tns file can't be found despite only having one and the managed driver finds it just fine.
At this point I'm at a loss of what to try. This computer is new, has only had the most current version of both visual studio and the oracle visual studio tools on it and still I can't add an EF6 entity.
    Suggestions?  I'm out of ideas.
    Jesse

Thanks Alex.  That didn't work so I completely removed the oracle provider and all server connections defined in visual studio and installed the visual studio tools for oracle using only default options.
I created a new console project, added the three packages from Nuget:
    ODP.net managed driver version 12.1.021
    ODP.net ef driver version 12.1.021
    Entity Framework version 6.1.3
Added a new ADO.net Entity Data Model, EF Designer from database, created a new connection using the managed driver that tests successfully then the same error as above, "Entity framework database provider compatible with this version could not be found for your data connection".
    Ideas?

  • SIIG Firewire Hub - Mac compatible or not?

Has anyone used the SIIG 6 port Firewire hub model NN2651? I can't believe that a hub wouldn't be compatible, but when I go the the SIIG website they only mention Windows (blech!) compatiblilty. I like it because it is bigger than the Belkin and is less likely to get pulled off the desk by the weight of the cables.
I'd like to be able to use it with both my iMac G5 and Powerbook G4. Both are running OS X 10.4.3.
    Thanks!
    iMac 20; PowerBook G4 15   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Firewire is an industry standard (IEEE 1394) so any Firewire hub should work with any Firewire device, Mac or PC. SIIG's unit looks identical to this AddLogix hub which is explicitly mentioned as being Mac compatible. So the SIIG should work without problems, but if you're not comfortable buying a device from a company that doesn't list Mac compatibility, go with the AddLogix.

  • EBooks, public domain- app for device compatible annotations/notes

Before my question (as I write this "editorial") may I present some background....
As an educator and speaker I use my iPad, iPod Touch, and iMac a lot for study and research. Most of my books are old public domain works obtained from google books, project gutenberg, etc. I use Calibre on my iMac as my "main" library/device and I can convert the ebook to almost any format.
    My goal:
I need to have an eReader app that works on my three devices (iMac, iPad, iPod) that will support annotations/notes across the three devices. These books are not purchased from Amazon, B&N, Apple, etc so there is no syncing that occurs. They are DRM free.
The annotations do not actually need to "sync" but they need to be able to be moved from device to device along with the book file itself.
To date, I have found only Kindle allows this.. Kindle for desktop and the iPad/iPod Kindle app. But there is a catch... The Kindle annotation file (.mbp file) that is created when the book is "loaded" into the library is slightly different between the Desktop version and the app.
The iPad .mbp will work on both iMac and iPad/iPod but the desktop .mbp doesn't work on the iPad. Therefore, even if I am going to markup a book on the desktop, I first need to put it on the iPad and then move the mbp file to the Kindle library on my iMac.
But this does work. On the iMac I go to iTunes.. my iPad... apps... Kindle... and the mbp file is there along with the mobi file. This mbp annotation file can then be copied to the iMac and notes/bookmarks, etc are retained across devices.
    My question....
Out of all the desktop and iPad eReader apps, Kindle is the ONLY one I have found where I can successfuly move the annotations from device to device. Has anyone else found another app that does this?
I love NookStudy on the iMac desktop but there is no compatible NookStudy app for the iPad. Likewise, there are some good readers out there but some don't even allow "sideloading" of material that is not purchased thru the reader.
It seems that every eReader app is designed to sell books (well yes, I know, that's why they are free! They are there to sell books!) but I know I'd pay for a good "study" reader that "syncs" across devices, does not not have a "commercial host" (to sell their books), and is designed for public domain and non-drm works.
In short... an OPEN SOURCE eReader study app designed to best function.. not designed to sell.
    Ideas... Comments Please...

It sounds as if you haven't really looked at apps that read and annotate PDFs, that you've mostly been using ebook readers. Apps like iAnnotate and PDF Expert will allow you to add standard annotations to pdfs that can be read by other pdf readers such as Acrobat or Preview. I would imagine that many, if not all of the files you're using are either available in pdf format or could be converted easily enough.
    Best of luck.

  • My hearing aid compatible is not there anymore, I can no longer hear with my hearing aid in my ear

I updated my iPhone 4 Verizon , now my hearing aid setting are gone and cannot hear anything with my iPhone to my ear, except a loud bussing sound.

Similar problem here. My Ical refuses to edit or delete events. Viewing is possible, though sometimes the whole screen turns grey. Adding new events from mail is still possible. The task-pane completely disappeared. My local apple technic-centre messed about with disk utility for a bit and than told me to reinstall leopard. I could of course do that, but it seems to me that reinstalling Leopard just to fix iCal events is a bit invasive.
I tried also tried removing everything, installing a new copy of iCal from the leopard-cd, software updates, all to no avail.
At the moment I'm open to all suggestions that do not include a complete leopard reinstall.

  • How about a forward showing if FF is 64 bit compatible, or not!!!

After twenty minutes of bouncing around on the sites (downloads, products, support.. etc..) I could not find anything as to if FF 8 is supported on a 64bit, Win7 syustem.... unbelievable!
So, is FF 8 win7-64bit ready or what? I'd hate to jump ship after all these years... but seriously... after what four years of 64bit technology... you still have not gone there...seriously?

OK - I guess the subject answer is "No."
Sure, it'll run under a 64-bit OS, but you can't use any 64-bit functionality. As soon as a process accesses more than 3 GB of RAM, the PatchMix app makes everything go haywire.
So, yes, it runs under a 64-bit OS. But it limits you to 32-bit functionality. So what's the point?
Lame... and to think I defended Creative for professional use...
