Compatible Printers for Airport

Can anyone please advise of a good printer for family use for printing documents, photos etc that is compatible with AirPort? I have a flatpanel iMac and a MacBook that I want to print from wirelessly. Any help greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

  • Compatible printers for Mac mini (Mac's)

Where can I find a list of compatible printers for Mac. My current Windows printer is a Canon LBP-1120 and cannot use it with my Mac mini. So its probably time to get another printer for my Macs.

I should add that there are a number of printers that are compatible and that don't necessarily appear to be so as a result of third-party drivers. This includes, if I'm not mistaken, some Canon models which can be plugged in and selected in Printer setup.
Others, such as at least some Epson, HP and Lexmark models, are supplied with Windows and MacOS drivers (you need to make sure they're for the right version of MacOS) or the box will be labelled such that it indicates PC/Mac compatibility.
You might take a quick look at the printers offered through the online Apple store (under Mac accessories) to get an idea of which makes to look at. This will only tell you about current models of course, but should at least prove a reliable starting point.

  • Recomended USB Printers for Airport Extreme

I have heard and read several good things about the Airport Extreme that I am now planning on purchasing one. Before I do though, I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of the best or better USB printers that are compatible with Aiport Extreme AND a PC/Windows/XP client.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Well, from what I saw today while installing my Cannon Pixma MP160 he found it at once and there is quite list of devices that are supported.I presume that recently new devices are in the list.As for the not taking MFP I can only say that may Cannon is MFP.Yes, I cannot use scan, only print. But I firmly believe that apple will correct this flaw

  • Non-printers for Airport/Airport Express USB port

Does anyone know any hack that would enable me to connect non-printers (eg audio device) to the printer USB port on the Airport/Airport Express USB port?

  • Can you suggest a good compatible modem for Airport?

Can you suggest a good modem that is compatible with airport express?

    Just to add to turbo..
Your modem is maybe cable.. which is not adsl..
Or adsl which is not fibre..
Or perhaps wireless and not adsl
    Or satellite and not wireless.
    Or vdsl and not satellite
Or is it direct copper and not vdsl
Or it could be cable.. and we start around again.
A good modem is more than likely supplied by your ISP.. although that is not universal.. some hint of ISP and broadband type is a big step forward.

  • Compatible printers for macbook pro

    Hi,
Does anyone have a recommended printer to use with my macbook pro? I have a Lexmark 7300 which although recognised by the computer will not print. I believe this to be an issue of driver update tardiness by Lexmark.

Snow Leopard has been out for quite some time, there shouldn't be a tardiness issue, unless it's a old printer and they no longer support it to force you to upgrade.
I would fire off a request for a driver update, if they claim it's no longer being supported (and if the printer is less than 7 years old) I would tell them "I'll never buy another Lexmark printer, and I'm going to recommend to everyone your printers don't get updated for Mac's"
Usually that grabs their attention, if you reach high enough up the corporate ladder.
HP is usually very good about updating even their old drivers, been my experience anyway.

  • Is there a definitive list for compatible printers for wireless printing?

Heres the deal, I have a brand new Mac Book Pro and I have been having a real fun time trying to get a linksys wps54g wireless print server... I have done my homework, and I know that I have to download the cupps driver for the printer since the HP printer I have (C4280) does not support network printing in mac os x as well as I have to add the printer manually with the ip address, the location, and selecting what driver to use... My only problem is i cant seem to find a driver that supports my printer...am I stuck untill one gets created or is there another way around it? I was thingking about doing a wired printsever and daisy chaining it to my wireless router... any help would be much appreciated!

I would recommend searching for an answer on the OX 10.4 Printing & Faxing forum:

If you are unable to find a thread that addresses your issue, you can post your question there.

  • What printers are compatible with the airport extreme?

What printers are compatible with the airport extreme?

Virtually any wireless printer will work just fine as well as a printer that connects using Ethernet. If you are looking at an All-in-One type of device....all functions like print, scan, copy, maintenance, etc will be supported.
If you are looking at USB devices, Apple does not provide a list of compatible models, so It is difficult to say with certainly what will work and what will not. In general, most USB printers will work.
But....very important....if you are looking at an All-in-One USB device, you need to keep in mind that only the print function will work when the device is connected to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme. Scan, copy, fax, maintenance, etc. will not be supported.
Bottom line...if you are looking at an All-in-One device and you need all of the functions, you need to choose a device that connects using wireless only or Ethernet, not USB.

  • Airport Extreme Compatible Printers - How can you tell by the printer spec?

    Hi,
If a printer spec says Mac OS X v10.3.9, 10.4 compatible am I safe in assuming it has drivers for Airport Extreme? If not how can I be sure? I'm trying to replace an old printer that doesn't work very well or have drivers specifically for the Airport Extreme.
    My OS is Tiger.

There are no drivers specifically for A-Extreme. You should refer to this list:

  • List of Airport Express compatible printers.

    Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone can link me to a kBase article which has a list of AExpress supported printers. I'm sure I've seen one before, but I can't find it again using the search.
    Thanks
    Sam

    Thanks Henry,
A very useful response as always. I remember iFelix's site now, others have referenced it in the past for Airport/internet issues. Great site and its now on my bookmarks bar.

  • Printer recommendations for airport express

    Hi all,
I posted a question regarding printer compatibility with airport express. I already bought two and both were glitchy. I am trialing a canon s520 with the view of buying the new model. I put up a post, and got a lot of answers. Unfortunately some say one thing and some say the other. I have noticed that when there is a serious issue with apple equipment, the answers become garbled like this. BTW the s520 hangs a lot. So canon is out. Best advice i got from a couple of posts was dont both with wireless printing via AE. Buy a printer with its own wireless set up.
Dont get me wrong, i love the discussion groups and the advice i get.
    My question is this..
Does airport express really work PROPERLY for wireless printing. I thought is was great feature. Would love to continue using it. But since tiger, i seem to have had a lot of time wasting problems. Is apple losing it... And surely they must have a list of recommended printers to work with AE.

    My question is this..
Does airport express really work PROPERLY for
    wireless printing.
Yes I have managed to get various printers working PROPERLY with my Airport base stations.
And surely they must have a list
of recommended printers to work with AE.
    There is the unofficial list.
The iFelix unofficial Airport Extreme and Airport Express Printer Compatibility List
    http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/1013.html
This is an unofficial list of USB printers which are are compatible with the AirPort Extreme Base Station and Airport Express. Printers in bold have been added to the original list that Apple provided. Printers in dark red are in fact the only printers I have personally tested.
Please also note that due to changes in the firmware of both the Airport Extreme base station and the introduction of the Airport Express some printers which are in this list may no longer in fact be compatible.

  • User Verified Compatible Printers

I have just recently purchased a mac mini with the wireless keyboard and mouse package, and the airport extreme network router. One last purchase I would like to make is a printer compatible with the airport extreme usb connection. I have seen some outdated listings of compatible printers, some that work with OS 10.5.5 and lower, many that work sporadically, many that function only partially, but am struggling to find reliable information on a printer that has worked somewhat reliably with OS 10.5.6 and the airport extreme. Ideally I would like to purchase a reliable black and white laser printer. If there are any users that are using the current OS and have a printer likely to be currently available I would sure appreciated knowing the brand and model. Thanks.

I would like to pass on my recent success with a basic USB Laser printer that prints through the Airport Extreme USB connection through my wireless connection from both a Windows XP laptop and a Mac Mini. The printer is a HP LaserJet P1505, non-network model, that I picked up for $119.99. The print quality and speed are excellent. The Airport Extreme and the connected printer are in the basement and the seemless printing of all documents were sent to the printer from the computers two levels up.
The only issue I had in the setup was finding the printer setup utility on the Mac. There is no longer a printer setup utility in applications/utilities, you have to now setup a printer in system preferences/print and fax, using the + or - to add or delete an installed printer. For the windows printer setup I let Bonjour find and select the printer and driver and a Generic driver was selected and successful. For those windows XP user that don't have Service Pack 2, you would have to open a Port named UDP numbered 5353, as per the Bonjour for windows readme file. Bonjour will configure your Firewall automatically provided you have Service Pack 2 or above for XP.
Based on my research and success I know this basic Black and White Laser printer works nicely. If anybody requires any additional information I would be glad to attempt to recall the exact steps I used to get both machines printing. I will also provide updated information if I encounter any reliability issues in the future.

  • AEBS compatible printers

I am searching the apple site for the list of Airport extreme base station compatible printers, it tells me to go to the OS X site and search for it, but it just sends me in a circle.
Does anyone happen to know the web address of the page that lists all OS X and/or AEBS compatible printers?
    Thank you!

    Here you go ...
Take a look at one of these iFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility links, depending on which AirPort base station you have:
o 802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) or AirPort Express Base Station (AX)
o 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn)

  • Why do I get an error message "can't install software on this version of Mac" for Airport Time Capsule? On Yosemite?

I Bought a new Airport Time Capsule and need to download the Utility software before I can set it up. When trying to install the software, various versions tried, I get a message that it is not compatible with this version of Mac. I run Yosemite on my Macbook. Which version of Time Capsule Utility should I download and install?

You don't need to download and install anything.
You already have the most up to date version of AirPort Utility on your Mac.
Click on the Finder (that smiley face icon on the on at the lower left of the screen)
    Open Applications
    Open Utilities
    Look for AirPort Utility
