Compatible screens for Satellite L20

Hi,
My L20 15inch screen is broken sharp part no LQ150X1LHS2, I have seen other replacement screens claiming to work on the L20, and such has any L series 15inch screens and the Tecra S1 or S2 15inch screens.
Is this so? Even with a different make and part number of screen?

the problem is that no one will give you here a accurate answer since no one here knows something about that parts.
Maybe it would be better to contact a service partner, so maybe the can give you the information you need on that screens.

How to create an backup for Satellite L20-100?

My Satellite L20-100 crashed & it took me 24 hours to recover (using factory supplied product recovery CD) & to reinstall other software & updates.
Now I am scared it may crash again & I have 11GB of software applications. I had a function on my Windows XP console startup > programs > accessories > system tools > create backup (or recovery) disk before it crashed, but it is not present anymore.
ANY THOUGHTS? URGENT PLZ!

I recommend you to use very good third part software called NORTON GHOST. I use it for a years. You can create own recovery DVD and use it anytime when there is some problem.
I do the same thing. This self created image is saved on partition D. if I want to have clean installation I simply start GHOST and the partition C will be overwritten.

Display Driver for W2k for Satellite L20-112

i am looking for a display driver for the Satellite L20-112 for Windows 2000.
Can anybody please help me. I am looking for the Driver for a long time. I have the ATI Radeon Xpress 200M.
I downloaded the Catalysp 5.13, but it still say that "Video Driver not found - INF Error".

As far as I know the L20 range was only supplied with Windows XP so it is unlikely that you will be able to get a suitable Windows 2000 Display Driver from Toshiba.
As you have already found out it is usually not possible to use the graphics manufacturers drivers directly since the graphics card is specially modified for use in a notebook.
You could try using third party drivers from sites such as http://www.omegadrivers.net/

Replacement screen for: Satellite C8550 S5110

Have bought the following laptop in the USA:

Am back in Australia and the screen is cracked and needs replacing.The model numbers are different here and Toshiba Australia do not know the part number for a replacement screen on this model
Anyone got any ideas how to get this- have had a global run around this morning!

Normally the LCD is always the same part but if you want to make sure you get the correct LCD you should ask an authorized service provider in your country. The guys have access to Toshiba database and can search for exact part number and can order this screen for you.

Notebook disassembling procedure is described in maintenance manuals but this document is not a public document so you will be very lucky if anyone here can help you with this.
What you need is step-by-step description how to do this. As you probably know small mistake can be responsible for hardware damage or damage on small plastic parts that have a lot of small plastic holders.
Maybe stupid question now but why do you want to do this alone? What is with the warranty?

Compatible Battery for Satellite A100-204

I can't find any replacement battery for my Toshiba satellite A100-204 Laptop. The original battery is a 4 cell recycable Li-ion PA3451U-1BRS. Everytime i look for this battery in google i only find it for the Toshiba M40.
It allmost looks the same but i am not sure if it is. Problem with my battery is that it gets empty after one hour, and i need more hours ;-).Everything is still new though (got it last weekend), is this normal for a 4 cell battery?
I would like a battery wich lasts longer, 8 cell or higher if there is. But i dont know wich ones are compatible and dont know how to look for it (actually i do. I aint no noob and allways find my stuff, but this doesnt work out the way i search). Looks like the laptop is a bit rare......
Please help me find one that will fit, and be sure of it :-D.
(Btw, I live in The Netherlands, if that might matter for finding the battery nearer.)

I have investigated a little bit and it seems that these batteries packs are compatible:
PA3399U-2BRS(6cell)
PA3399U-2BAS(6cell)
PA3478U-1BRS(9cell)
PA3478U-1BAS(9cell)
PA3400U-1BRS(12cell)
PA3400U-1BAS(12cell)
The charger time of the 6cell and 9cell batteries is about 4houers and the charging time of 12cell batteries is about 5houers

in fact I have already removed about twenty notebooks (ASUS, Toshiba, HP, MSI, IBM and Acer) and recovered to about half without problems and without a manual :D Note that the rest was not intended to be reassemble ;)
I do have some knowledge of hardware, but I never removed the plastic surrounding the slabs screens. There I am afraid to break the plastic, but hey we'll see :^0 And surfing along Seamey last link, I've found some nice tips for screen and inverter replacement. I give you what seems to be te most important tip: use a hard guitar pick.
I think I will order the new screen by the end of the week. I'll try to take some pics of the process and post it as feedback.

Recovery DVD for Satellite L20-184 needed

System: Satellite Pro L20-184, Win XP SP2.
Problem: Can't reinstall OS from Recovery disc. It does its job, but Windows won't start. Froze on the black screen just before initializing WXP.
Question: Can I get another copy of ProductRecovery? What else should i do?

I can really not understand what is wrong there but if possible try to obtain Microsoft WXP installations CD and try to test it.

If you need an replacement batterypack then you can either check on the toshiba website or just type on www.google.com the model number (PA2450U-1BRS).
Believe me, you will find as many onlineshops as you can count which have this battery pack for sale.

6735s compatible screen

I am looking for a compatible screen for my HP 6735s business notebook, purchased in 2008.
The screen has recently developed a fault where the internal display flickers, there are lines missing, and it appears thtat the display has shifted downward - when I connect an external monitor there are no problems, and so I beleive the problem to be with the screen panel, not the integrated graphics card.
I have attempted to obtain a replacement screen for the laptop - my original screen part number (stamped on the metal frame of the screen) is 3110T-0244a. I bought another screen from ebay described as being from a HP Compaq 6735s laptop, but it didn't display properly - it was part number ltn154at07-002 (different problem with the display - screen split horziontaly and rolling)
My query is - can anyone point me in the direction of a compatible replacement screen for this old workhorse of a laptop?

I am looking for a LAN (ethernet) drive for my Satellite Pro L20, which has Windows 2000 on it.
I have found one for the WiFi, but not for the Ethernet (cable/CAT) connection.

Well, you cant find any LAN drivers for Win2000 on the Toshiba page because this unit was delivered and tested only with Windows Xp OS.
Nevertheless I found the information that this unit has a Realtek 8100CL LAN card.
In this case I assume to visit the Realtek website. There you will find a compatible driver for this LAN card.

Need some info about screen type for Satellite C50

Was wondering if someone could help clear up what the situation is regarding matte and glossy screens on the C50 series. Ideally which particular model numbers mean I would get a matte screen ? and also ideally from Amazon UK as an example in terms of product links.

What you need is an 15.6 wide screen (13.6" x 7.6") display with an 40 pin LED socket
The part number isnt known to me and I think that such info would not be very useful since the part numbers are Toshiba internal part numbers.
If you want to purchase an display from independent dealer, search in google for SATELLITE C50-A 15.6 wide screen matte
I found some online dealers providing such part but dont want to post the link since I dont want to make an promotion.
However, you can also get all compatible parts from local Toshiba authorized service providers

Satellite L20 - Shoud I pay for service?

My Satellite L20 have problem with reading and recording CD's ad DVD's. Second problem is with sound which is very low. In service told me that if on my computer is not any problem witch sound I should pay for the diagnosis. Computer is on the guarantee of course.
Is that OK? What should I do?

AS far as I know the Toshiba warranty covers the cost of parts and labour to repair your notebook. It does not cover the cost of fixing software problems and it also does not cover the cost of any dismantling and re-assembly where there is no fault found. It will be at the discretion of the repairer as to whether they charge you for any such investigative work.
I suggest you ask them in advance what the costs are likely to be.

Drive compatibility is always a problem by upgrade. The fact is that every ODD will not work with every notebook model. I presume it is because of different pin assignment.
Unfortunately I was not able to find any list of compatible ODDs for your notebook model. Sat Pro 4320 is pretty old unit and it will be probably not so easy to find compatible DVD-RAM drive. Try to contact authorized Toshiba service in your country. They are upgrade specialized and they should know which ODDs are compatible for this Satellite Pro notebook.
